Pretty disappointed this year as I ended up seeing a new Doctor of which no one told me that my original Doctor had left. The new Doctor didn't even acknowledge my prior visit and that she would be taking care of my case (of which I'm still uncertain if she is). Then without reviewing my case they had no idea that I had laser surgery done prior and asked if I wanted to buy glasses if my vision was altered. I kind of agree with the other posts that the clinic is feels like a walk in clinic with a pressure to buy and not one that I would see continual care of service as a priorty. I really like Alex and wish he was still around.

Professional, friendly and modern. Friendly faces greet you when you walk in and are extremely helpful. Cute artwork of frogs with glasses throughout the office. My appointment was over the lunch hour and I didn't have to wait to be taken back to start my testing before meeting with Dr. Apfelbeck. Dr. Apfelbeck is extremely friendly and knowledgeable - she explains what she is looking for while she is performing the exam and welcomes questions. I don't buy my glasses at their office - I didn't feel pressured to buy them there - they let me know of the offers they have on (which sound good) and gave me my prescription with a smile.

Had a very professional Photofacial recently done by Jelena. I've been suffering from hormonal acne within this last year and all the creams and masks I had been using did absolutely nothing..... that was untill I had a Photofacial done. I was hesitant at 1st but Jelena took the time to explain everything in detail and made me feel very comfortable. It's been about 4 weeks since I had the facial and the results are amazing. My family has been seeing Dr. Apfelbeck and her associates at Grand River Eye Care for about 5 years. We have been extremely happy with the care we've all received. My husband walked into their office off the street one day, with a sudden irritation in his eye. He was seen right away, and it was discovered that he had gotten something foreign in his eye, probably sawdust, and it was scratching his eyeball. He was treated, given a prescription and was told to come back in a week to make sure the damage was healing. He's not easy to please, but he was very impressed with Dr. Apfelbeck and the service he received. I switched to their office as well. The opticians there to help with choosing frames and ordering glasses are very knowledgable and helpful, and all three of us have been very satisfied with the huge selection of frames, reasonable prices, and the quality of glasses we all now wear. I've recommended them to people who ask, and you won't go wrong seeing any of their Optomitrists or opticians.

Had problems with lenses blurring in left lenses, told the girl when I first got them she dismissed my problem, second assistant said I needed to have my eyes re-examined, lenses where accurate. Both my husband and I have been going to Dr. Apfelbeck for many years now. My husband has a high prescription and there is no one else we would trust with his eyes and glasses. Service is always spectacular and the staff are top notch. They remember us even though they only see us once a year, and have bent over backwards to help us in so many ways. I'm particular about my glasses too, and they never give me pressure to go a different way. They deserve to be number one in kw. Well deserved.

I've been coming to this clinic for several years. Reception desk staff are always friendly and timely. The techs who do the initial questions are very patient (I'm bad at not blinking - they are very understanding of this). Dr. Bedi does a great job of explaining things thoroughly but not overdoing it. Overall I'm very pleased with the service here - that's why I keep coming back.

- Update: I went to store and after a long waiting time, they agreed they made a mistake in eye exam and re-exam my eyes and gave me new prescription for free, but refuse to cover for the cost of the glasses/lens that I bought with the original prescription (wrong). I wouldn't recommend this place to any one. - I used to go to another place for eye exam, but this time went to this place because it was closer to work and also because of the good reviews that I saw here that they are nice people. I admit, they are nice people. BUT, they did the exam wrong and prescribed the wrong lens, I spent around $500 for eye exam and the glasses, and I see they are not right. Currently, I am back to my old glasses as I can't see properly with the new glasses. I will go to their office in the next couple of days and see what they can do. Are they going to reimburse me or give me new lenses, or are they going to say it is not their problem. I will update this review.

I was with Grand River Eye Care, Waterloo, for 10 years under the care of Dr. Gillani. Excellent Doctor - thorough, friendly, extremely professional. (more on this later) I did not however appreciate the very high pressure tactics to buy new glasses at EACH AND EVERY VISIT. They made claims of having superior lenses to other dispensers. Not true. They are selling crizal lenses - a product which many competitors carry - and at competitive prices. The choice of frames was limited to a few select brands. I recently called to make a routine appt with Dr. Gillani on a specific date. I was told that the only Doctor available on that date was Dr. Chee. No info was provided regarding the recent departure of Dr. Gillani - and I've been a patient at Grand River Optical for TEN YEARS! Very poor way to deal with a long time patient. I have some potential long term serious issues with my eyes, and getting the informed opinion of a Doctor who knows my vision history is VITALLY IMPORTANT to me. I am greatly disappointed with G R Eye Care, and have left them for good. This is my response to what Grand River Eye Care wrote in response to my review. If they truly put the patient's needs first then why did the following happen? On the day the Dr. Gillani diagnosed glaucoma in my right eye, I walked out of the examining room and was immediately asked "what kind of glasses would you like to buy today?" The appropriate action should have been "Mr. Goerz - you've just had a serious condition diagnosed - would you like to come back another day to perhaps look at some glasses?" The truth is, I was very shocked to learn of my condition - one that could over the years lead to virtual blindness in that eye. It took me several days to come to terms with what Dr. Gillani had just told me, and yet I was expected to just walk out of my exam and browse the store for a new set of frames??? Enough said. Over and out!

I was having trouble findng glasses for my small face and was referred to Grand River Eye Care by a friend. They have the best selection of frames I've ever seen and the service is top notch. When the first pair of glasses I ordered did not fit properly, Manager Sandra took them back and ordered me another pair - all with a smile and reassurances that "this is the way we do things". When I lost the clip on sunglasses for my second pair Sandra ordered me a new pair of clipons and they arrived within two days. Am very happy with my optometrist - who is not affiliated with Grand River Eye Care, but I will continue to purchase frames at Grand River for sure. Thank you for the great service!

In my original appointment (Aug 5th) with Dr. Robin Apfelbeck which lasted a whole 10 minutes or so, I clearly felt that I had been on a timer from the beginning. After hearing many testimonials from other people regarding their own Optometrist dealings it seems like the normal appointment length is between half an hour to an hour or at the very least twice as long as the one I had. l feel that I was not given the proper care and attention that I had paid for and what I felt I deserved for the $145 charged! I strongly feel that due to the lack of attention, thoroughness as well as being rushed that this has resulted in my prescription/binocular vision issues being carelessly overlooked. My new questionable prescription, the serious binocular vision issues I am now experiencing from these new lenses, the carelessness shown, particularly during my followup appointment with Robin Apfelbeck's office along with the rising costs have left me feeling quite worried, frustrated, disappointed and very aggravated!! After contacting Robin's office about the problems I was having with these new lenses, created correctly by another Optician, I was told I needed to have that Optician fill out an "Eyewear Verification Checklist" which the Optician kindly did. I returned to Grand River Eye Care on Aug 31st (my follow-up appointment date) with the filled out checklist. I was met by an Assistant (Faith) who took the form as well as the new (problem) prescription lenses behind closed doors at the office to do what I guess was their own testing of these new lenses. I have no idea what happened behind the closed doors or how much Robin was even involved?? After roughly 7 minutes the Assistant came back out with the eyewear verification checklist I had gotten filled out by Optician. All that was scribbled on the sheet was some adjusted measurements and three sets of question marks placed at the end of the 3 checklist questions/points. There was no verbal or written explanation regarding these question marked areas nor much of an explanation for any of the other points/measurements made. What has got me most angered and upset is that when I asked her to speak with Robin, whom I clearly made the follow-up appointment with, I was told by this Assistant that she did not need to see me. I basically wasted my time rearranging my day/schedule to specifically meet with her that day to discuss and hopefully resolve this now running issue. Speaking of wasted time, I am now faced with having to start all over again with a new Optometrist which I now have, not to mention paying $135+ to continue. My eye and eyeglass issues continue to be unresolved... I have lost complete confidence in Robin and her office and would find it most difficult to return. I do not feel any of this is fair to me, especially when money continues to be paid out of pocket. I have worked customer service for over half my life and I would never ever treat a customer like the way I have been presently treated by Dr. Robin Apfelbeck and her office. Unbelievable!!

I would highly recommend the Eye Spa at Grand River Eye Care if you are thinking about doing an IPL Photofacial! This was my first time having any sort of laser treatment and the aesthetician made me feel so comfortable and eased any anxieties I had going into it. She explained the procedure in detail, and went over all the after care instructions thoroughly so I was confident in what to do. I was a little nervous before we began, but she started out nice and slowly until I was used to the sensation from the laser and answered any questions I had throughout my appointment. I also felt very safe in terms of covid and really appreciated the safety measures Grand River Eye Care had in place. I definitely noticed some peppering on my skin within 24 hours and I’m looking forward to seeing the results in a few weeks!

Do not go to Grand River Eye Care. The optometrist tried to scare me into unnecessary Lasik eye surgery. My prescription was off in both pairs of glasses, and the sunglasses frame never fit properly, even after bringing it back repeatedly for adjustments. When I requested that my files be transferred to another optometrist, I was told there was a charge to transfer files; which was apparently was much higher than what is allowed under Provincial guidelines.

First Time here..... saw other Google reviews and mostly positive. I can report that I had an excellent experience. The staff were friendly, inviting and knowledgeable. No pressure for sales.....and Dr.Robin Apfelbeck was awesome. Very professional, friendly, informative and a pleasure to deal with. Everyone here were wonderful.
