Hi. I live abroad, and just got to Victoria the day before I visited Dr Sharma. I had not had an eye exam since 2012 and figured at 72, I should have a decent exam. I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Sharma 2 hours after calling his office! The appointment went very smoothly, I arrived about 10 minutes early and after filling out a short form that summarized what I wanted Dr. Sharma to do for me. The fact that he had some of the latest Optometric equipment to photograph and 'map' the inner without the use of eyedrops and that blindingly bright light, was a welcome bonus. Edit: I took another star off because the morning after I made this review (less than 6 hours later) he called me at 7:45 am on Sunday when his business is not even open to try and get me to come back. During this call he did not admit to making mistakes and kept claiming different excuses based on the strength of my prescription and my age. I would not have taken the star off if he had waited until his business hours to call as that would have been the professional thing to do. He also seemed to be wanting to send me to a specialist for an issue that every other optometrist I have seen has not had an issue with. I have been getting glasses for 20+ years and have never had an optometrist behave this way or have this much trouble with a high strength prescription. If he had actually just admitted his error, I would have been much more receptive to letting him correct the issue. Instead he seemed to want me to just let him keep trying over and over, preferably through his service of making glasses. He was very professional but has completely ignored a major issue of splitting/double vision in both visits to get a prescription. It also took two visits to get my prescription close to right (I don't count it as completely right since I am still having the same issues that I brought up in my first visit). It was also worrying to have him say that it looked like my eyes had glaucoma except I am too young for it. While age increases the risk of glaucoma, being in my 30s doesn't exclude me from the risk of it like it might if I was 10 years old. I really wish I could get them to pay back what I have paid them since it is clear I am going to have to go somewhere else to get a complete prescription and have my lenses replaced a third time due to his issues with strong prescriptions. If you have very basic and not very strong prescriptions as well as no health issues, he does seem mostly competent.

Dr. Sharma and the staff here are friendly and professional. After my appointment resulted in a prescription change, they were very helpful in fitting me that day for a contact lens fitting. While there was a hickup with the contacts order that they placed for me which which caused a delay in delivery, they provided me with enough week-long samples to wait out the delay and were also helpful enough to forward the delivery on to an out-of-province address I was relocating to. It's a nice office with nice folk working there, I'll return and I recommend it to my family.

Since I have a high prescription and was paying out of pocket, I called over a dozen local optometrists to compare options and costs and ended up choosing Inner Harbour Optometry. I talked with Michael over the phone and he explained the available lenses and coatings. The cost was also very reasonable (a few other places quoted me 2x higher for the same lens and coating). Michael is clearly very knowledgeable and skilled and he took the time to answer all my questions. I also never felt pressured or like I was being upsold. I had an eye exam at Inner Harbour Optometry a couple of days ago. Dr. Sharma was very pleasant and I appreciate how he took the time examine my eyes closely with a special lamp he has. During the pre-test I had an optional scan done, and felt thrilled that the doctor showed me the resulting images, explaining that everything looked normal, and that the test would make a good base-line to compare with in the future. When I mentioned that I'd had some trouble with a stye in the past, he gave me specific advice on how to make it better with hot compresses. His directions were very clear on what to do when I got home, how often to put heat on the eye, and so on. I feel very pleased with the whole experience and would definitely recommend Dr. Sharma to anyone who wants a thorough examination and things explained clearly.

This optometrist is my last stop regarding my search for a good eye exam/glasses/ contacts. They are prompt, polite and professional. I feel I'm in a good hands where my eyes are concerned as it's tidy and clean. As a person in a motorized wheelchair it is a little small as far as space is concerned but as they are prompt I don't need to worry about it too much. Although I hope that they work on getting a automatic door or a lighter door. Again though, the staff is prompt and quick to come around and openthe door for me or anyone else that has difficulties with the door or anything else. I find the location pretty convenient as I don't drive but it's pretty centrally located and of course there are so many yummy treats to be had in that same building if you happen to get there too early or have a few to spare after your appointment.
