Great experience for my first time shopping for glasses. I went on a Saturday when only one employee was working, she was busy with other customers, but as soon as she was finished she began to assist me. My glasses were expected to take 2 weeks, but came within a few days. I am extremely happy with my experience here, and love my new glasses!

I was on trip out of town and i had forgotten my eyeglasses at home. I went to Hakim Optical in Thunder Bay the one located on Memorial Street, they had my information and prescriptions registered online because i had been a client of Hakim in Timmins for the past 6 years but unfortunately for whatever reasons they couldn’t make my lenses on site so they called Hakim on Arthur Street to assure they could help me promptly. I went to Hakim Optical on Arthur Street, the friendly staff helped me find the perfect frame for me, they gave me good advices on how to choose a frame and my eyeglasses were ready within 30 minutes. Amazing!!!

**Edit** After talking to the girl with short hair, she helped me looked for new glasses. I couldn't find a pair that fit my nose well. So I was able to return them. She was VERY nice about it. ☺️ The guy I talked to on the phone about not being able to exchange or return must of been new or didn't know. Going in was good and got to try on glasses. The customer service was really good too. I didn't like that they only could do PV on Tuesday and Thursday. Go one day to pick out glasses and had to go back for 2 minutes to get my PV taken. I didn't have to do that at other places. Anyways the reason I gave one star was because I just got my glass and now after wearing them for two days I'm getting headaches alot because my glasses are to tight on my nose. I phoned to ask if there is anything they can do and they said no. Now I have to deal with the $300 glasses I bought for two or more years that give headaches. Not fun.

Very impressed with the optician’s service. I have an optometrist at a different location, but was glasses shopping at Hakim. When I couldn’t find any new frames I liked, the optician informed me that I could just get the lenses on my current frames replaced for the cost of the lenses ONLY. When I asked if I could do the same thing at a Lenscrafter’s in Southern Ontario several years ago, they told me they could, but would “have to charge me for the full price of new lenses AND frames”. I had just assumed this was a policy everywhere so I stopped asking. I’m glad that I was wrong. Furthermore, when I went to pick up my glasses with new frames, the optician told me the quality of the new lens fit was not 100% with the cylinder and was going to order new lenses and fix them. I noticed nothing wrong with the new lenses, so I very much appreciated his honesty. Amazing customer service, professionalism, and very friendly!

Literally go anywhere else. I was misinformed about direct billing through insurance when I made my appointment. The doctor was running an hour late and I was not informed. So I waited and was constantly told that it would only be a few minutes more. The staff seemed less than competent as they lost my original order. The doctor herself was good and professional but she is subcontracted out so not a direct employee of Hakim Optical. Save your time and money and go to literally any other store.
