When I saw the specialist, he was quick, helpful and definitely informative. They know what they're talking about, they don't waste your time and I was ready to board a plane the next day! The worst experience I've ever had! Our appointment was 10:45, and we arrived at 10:20. They made us wait with my 20 months old son until 1:40PM!!!!! They didn't have changing stations for babies, and when we complained about the long wait the answer was: "why didn't you come at 9:00 AM?"!!!!!!!!!!!! Very rude and unprofessional staff!

At 1030, was told - as I have been all along - that it would be 1-1/2 to 2hrs. It's five hours later and I'm going to miss a crucial appt that I would not have booked had I been kept properly informed. Overbooked; overcharged; understaffed; receptionist has competent English but not much better; medical staff patronizing and fast to throw the receptionist under the bus by saying she should never have said that it would take 2hrs or less, regardless that that's the same information I've been getting from *all* of them. For filet mignon prices, they serve up a quarter pounder without cheese and forget the drinking straws.

If I could give this a 0 or even a negative rating, I would. Started off with the receptionist who had a huge attitude problem - was very rude and abrupt. With this kind of frontline service and "greeting," I decided I could get better care elsewhere. Cancelled my tests and appointments. Will be going elsewhere - never again to this place with employees who have major attitude issues.

Horrible experience !. I was revered to Dr. Tam. He was rude and never even explain what I need done and or why. When I tried to ask he ushered me out in a hurry and got the next patient in. the day when I had my surgery I was given drops in the waiting lobby and then was called in the room where the procedure was performed in and out in 2 mins. When I tried to ask a question the doctor was rude and asked me to leave. It's been almost a week and my eyes hurt but I'm afraid to go back. I was not directed on side effects if any. Was give a prescription and ushered out. Please if you have been sent there are ask to be sent somewhere else. I'm very disturbed by the whole experience I'm tempted to contact the doctor that sent me there to tell her to not send her patients to this toxic place. Even the receptionist and nurses are rude.

Uptown Eye Specialists demonstrated professionalism in all aspects of the patient interaction. I was scheduled for a Catarac surgery for 10:45 AM; however, only had the opportunity to enter the operating room at 1:00 PM. Although the wait was a bit longer than I expected, the results of the procedure far exceeded my expectations. Prior to the procedure my vision was very blurry. Really un-professional staff. Call day before the appointment to reschedule and when we denied to accommodate the second request of re-scheduling 2 hrs before our appointment they call us that if we do not come early than they forefully re-schedule us by giving reason that doctor has to perform some surgery. Surgery dosent come up last minute as far as I understand. Really disappointed. No respect for patients time.

Awful experience. The staff was ok, but the specialist was a disgrace. He didn't care about my fear or explained my condition properly. I waited for over 2 hours to be seen and dismissed by this clown in less than 5 min, not before offering a discount if I got a particular procedure done at the same time in both eyes. I accompanied my Dad for his cataract surgery. Even though the original surgery date was moved d/t the covid19 pandemic, the clinic was nice enough to update us when will they reopen again and resume the surgeries. From the consultation where Dr. Tam was kind and patient in explaining to my Dad the eye lensest will be used and what will happen during the surgery, to their pleasant and competent nurses who assisted during the surgery and explained the after care, medications and follow-ups and also to the surgery coordinator who was kind enough to call and update us for any changes in the schedule. I was referred to this clinic for my Pterygium surgery. Dr. Eric Tam was the attending surgeon. I wonder why this medical facility got so many negative reviews.Guys, this is not a customer service center. They are trained eye specialists. Someone said it feels like a train station with so many announcements. Well, you can't expect them to whisper in your ears. It is better that you can relax in your chair while you wait. I lost my surgery documents. I left them a message as guided through their voice message. I got a return call within 3 hours. What else I want?! Dr. Tam and his team attended me well. The staff preparing me for the surgery were happy people, helping nature, they cut some jokes, and were friendly. On the surgery table, it was about 15 minutes. Dr. Tam didn't socialize with me, nor he had to. He means business and it needs precision. Mind it, he is working with the most delicate part of your body that connects you to the world. I am looking forward to my second surgery this month. I am happy to be referred to them. This place has a free WiFi. It didn't work on my phone though, and I don't care.

Just got back and they are very unprofessional especially the black girl with braids. No one told me what doctor i was seeing, no one told me what procedure was even being done. When i asked if i would need a ride home because i was walking the response was, "yes , yes ok it will last 4 hours and you can wear sunglasses" where am i getting sunglasses from. no paperwork and no one seems to know what doctor they're seeing. Just sit and listen to someone with an accent struggle to pronounce your name DO NOT GO HERE SOMETHING FISHY IS GOING ON.

What a great experience! I went into this surgery needing cataract surgery and must say, I was pretty nervous. After my initial appointment with the staff, I started feeling much more comfortable. Keshia the surgical coordinator took time to explain the options to me. Thankfully I took her recommendations and, BOY! was I happy I did! It felt like the surgery itself was done before it started! There was no pain or discomfort AT ALL! The entire staff made me feel comfortable. Everything was explained clearly pre and post surgery. Post surgery was even better. My eyes are now in 5K mode. If you've ever been to the local hardware store and looked at the lighting boxes on display, you probably played around with the different lighting options. My old vision was like the 3K lighting option. Although I could see before, everything had a yellowish tinge to it. After the surgery, I immediately noticed an improvement. Literally 5K high def vision. What an experience. It is like seeing the world again for the first time. Took my father for a cataract "preliminary consultation" today, June 18/18 and was pleasantly surprised. We were told in advance we would be there between 45 mins and an hour. We checked in at arrival and were called in for some eye tests within the first 5 mins. and were asked to wait outside to speak to a consultant (Din) who called us in within another 5 mins. She gave us a detailed account of the procedures that were to follow along with hard copies of information to read at home. Answered all our questions and was very thorough. In total, we were there just over an hour. Surprised at all the negative reviews. Our first experience at Uptown Eye Specialists was excellent.

Even though they had problem with the equipment in the middle of the procedure causing the patients to be shifted to the westend location for procedure, they were professional and dealt with it as well as they could. Uptown Eye specialist is a practice filled with staff who really care about their patients and their eye health, and top-notch doctors who are the best at what they do. My dads' cataract surgeries for both eyes were done by Dr Somani, my dad raves about him and how fast + comfortable the surgery was done. The pre- and post- care provided by the surgical counsellors (Ruby @ Brampton) were also very personal which made my dad feel like he was being well taken care of throughout the entire cataract surgery process. All in all, Uptown Eye Specialists made my dad a very happy man and we will continue to pass on the good reviews to everyone! :)

The eye exam went well but the don’t answer their phone and the are very quick to put you on hold without know if it’s an emergency. I called they picked up the phone and quickly put me on hold and never return after 10 minutes I hung up. HIRE MORE OPERATORS AND STOP PUTTING PEOPLE ON HOLD. Don't you understand that Drs are often on - call at Hospitals or, often patients are referred to drs thru an emergency department Doctor, also the dr may be taking their time with a patient. I have had many appointments at Uptown, Scarborough and recently had cataract surgery. Yes, it is a busy office, but I've found the employees to be professional, helpful and friendly. They were very focused, but never rude. Even when I had an appt. on my birthday, on three different occasions people wished me a happy birthday, which I did not expect Wait for your appt? Yes, in a real world sometimes that is necessary. Specialists can be delayed by emergencies or for other legitimate reasons. I do not hesitate to recommend them and look forward to my second cataract surgery! At the surgical site in Vaughan, the nurses were very watchful and really on top of things. I had some concerns because I still had a cough after a cold. They were prepared to accommodate this but fortunately it had subsided by the day of the surgery. Dr. Tam is quiet but willing to answer your questions; however, you need to be prepared ahead of time if you have any queries. He is obviously highly skilled and did a great job!

I came in because I have dry eyes, floaters, and have trouble reading. The doctor just said I need reading glasses because of my age (which is fine) and that he recommends that I go for a Dry Eyes Assessent. I was expecting I will undergo such kind of assessment already since they are eye specialists and they know what I came in for through my family doctor. It was a waste of time especially that they cautioned that I should have someone to drive for me, so I asked my husband to take a leave of absence from work. But I could have driven myself with no problem at all. I waited longer than my consultation.

Fine Eyecare I was referred to Uptown on Steeles by my doctor when he thought my cataracts were getting to be a problem. I feel extremely lucky to have been able to receive such excellent care such as provided at Uptown. Dr. Tam has done cataract surgery on one eye in January and I’m looking forward to having him finish the other. The results are amazing! I was very nervous about having surgery on my eyes but I knew that it was necessary and important, so I elected to have my treatment upgraded to laser surgery (ReLACs). Neither at the time of the surgery nor after did I have any pain. And one day after it was obvious how much clearer and brighter was my vision. Uptown is very busy but is very efficient and well-staffed. For each of the three appointments for assessment, measurement, and finally surgery, I spent about two hours. All options were carefully explained and a lot of information was provided about the clinic, the staff and the procedures. My counsellor Monica was most friendly and helpful in this regard. I am very pleased with the quality of medical care provided by Uptown.

Dr. Lam provided the worst patient care in my mother's entire medical history. My mom was booked for a regular eye check-up, and right then and there, this doctor pushed her to rush into a laser surgery without adequately explaining the procedure and its risks, as well as assessing my mother's risk factors (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc). Lam then proceeded to perform the procedure but when my mother experienced extreme sharp pains and blurred vision (again, risks not explained to her by this doctor when she should have), Lam was unavailable and could not be reached for 48 hours. When she finally got back to my mother she was rude and simply said "I cannot be attached to my phone." No one's asking you to be — but the minimum requirement of patient care is to provide all the information to your patient. It's bad enough that she rushed my mother into the procedure without proper explanation, and worse that she was not at all responsive, and instead rude. I will be taking this to the CPSO (College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario).

Apart from generally very long waiting times and rude front office staff, the doctors have a big conflict of interest issue as well. One doctor recommends a laser surgery and the same doctor will perform it. If you ask why it is needed or ask about the risks, they don't want to explain the risks to laser treatments and refer you to other people if you dare ask any questions.

This clinic had some of the fastest waiting times compared to downtown , while yes the waits can be long within the office , overall the staff makes up for it, from the receptionist to the technicians (Jennifer I'm rooting for yea your so amazing with me and the kids I see you working with ) and of course to my eye surgeon Dr. Fariba Nazemi, she has to be the most understanding , patient , eye surgeon I've met , she's very patient and assuring and works well to listen to you and assure you, she's also perfect in what she does , I came in with a lazy eye that had a 35 degree right turn, which now only has a .8 percent right turn , but that's not all, the surgery was so successful for the first time my brain is using both eyes to focus, creating a better depth perception with 3D vision thanks to this successful surgery I have better vision, from the referral from my eye doctor to less then 2 months to get in to see the doctor and within a month after that for eye surgery at Brampton civic if your willing to go the extra mile they will too and I will always use this eye clinic and doctor in the future.

My father lives in a long term care home, has a set schedule for medications & 1 child who can help him that works a full time job, so timeliness is critical to the families they help. If a healthcare facility does not set up there operations to account for the hundreds of patients they take on, you have to question the overall quality of that facility. #facts There you have it. I cant say anything about the doctors here but the receptionist was very rude to me when I called. I needed to see a doctor that day because of an overnight emergency (the referring doctor from the hospital sent the referral over at about 7am the same day). The nurse refused my request, didnt even ask what was wrong (I had a chemical burn in my eye) and they NEVER called me for an appointment after they received my referral. Horrible, horrible service

My Wife went for an eye surgery at the this clinic with Dr. Raj Maini and he is one of the worst doctors ever. She had a blocked tears duct and the surgery was supposed to help here cry normally again. We know that the chances were very small, but our problem wasn't with the outcome of the operation. 1- First, as said in previous reviews the staff are very rude and unprofessional. They don't respect patients or care for their feelings, especially ahead of a surgery and they show zero sympathy. 2- The doctor didn't explain the proceedings of the surgery and therefore my wife passed out when she saw a surgical scissor in the hand of the doctor, despite being under local anesthesia. 3- My wife almost chocked and couldn't breath because of the mask and the doctor's only concern was about removing the mask. 4- The doctor panicked during the surgery and caused lots of pain to my wife because he didn't apply the anesthesia properly. 5- Finally, he told us that there is no need for a follow-up appointment and that our business with him is completed. I know that you can't sue a doctor in Canada as they are very well protected. But we've got to find a way to protect ourselves from these practices. The healthcare in Canada sucks and its reputation is really deceiving with long waiting periods, inexperienced doctors, wrong diagnosis, unprofessional and untrained staff.

Not recognized at all....they don’t care about your time!!! There is a lady working there as an assistant,she is so careless and slapdash!!! In our first visit she forgot to measure my mom’s eye pressure and in her second visit she measured it 3 times and each time it was wrong and finally we went to the dr to measure correctly! When I asked dr that why we have an appointment at 1:00pm and you visit us at 5:00pm her answer is only one word “sorry”. Don’t go there if you appreciate yourself!

My husband was the patient and I the driver. We were greeted promptly and in a friendly, professional manner. Shortly after arrival, my husband was moved so the procedure could be started. The staff were all very friendly and compassionate. All safety precautions were taken to ensure a healthy environment because of covid-19. The procedure took a little longer than expected due to the fact that greater time was needed for my husband’s eye to dialate but other than that, everything was done in a timely manner. Dr. Maini was very caring and pleasant. The staff followed up with us after we returned home later in the day to make sure my husband was doing ok. Overall, a good experience.

Dr. Somani performed surgery on me in Jun and Jul of this year, for the last month I have been having problems with my eyes, so I scheduled a appointment for today Nov 19 for 10:15, I arrived at 10:30 bus problem (travelling time with TTC was 1 and half hours. I called the office at 10:10 and explained what had happened and asked if I should reschedule or could the doctor see me, I had to be out of the office at NOON for another appt. The office said come in and we will do something, again when I arrived at 10:30 I mentioned I had to leave by NOON. I waited which is normal for this office and at 11:30 again told them I had to leave, will the doctor be seeing me, reply do not know. HOW STUPID ARE THESE PEOPLE. So at noon I left and was forced to take a cab to arrive at my appointment on time (cost $31.50). SO I TRAVELED 1 AND A HALF HOURS, WAITED FOR 1 AND AN HALF HOURS AND STILL DID NOT SEE THE DOCTOR. They only think of seeing as many patients and making the money. They have no interest, do not listen to you and above all have no compassion. Dr Somani, how can you being a doctor accept this. THere is no reason why once we book an appointment we need to wait 2 to 3 hours to be seen. We as patients pay for your salary, if you have no patients, you have no money........maybe this should happen and you will change your way of doing things. You are NOT IMPORTANT TO US THERE ARE MANY GOOD DOCTORS OUT THERE THAT CAN TAKE YOUR PLACE. I will speak to my doctor and advise him not to use Uptown in the future. I know that this email along with many many more will not matter to you. If you are referred to them, please ask to go to another doctor or if you go to them be prepared, not to be listened to, talked to rudely and wait up to 3 hours to been seen. I guess it is true that the staff is only as good as their boss. I have visited Dr Somani several times before and was aware of the waiting time, a exception could of be made so that I was able to see him and leave by noon. Again to compassion for anyone or anything.

If there is any negative rating, I would go for it. Terrible service since appointment. It was done through answering machine with no person could talk. Reception was rude and super angry. (to all patients.) The nurse for pre=testing were rude, rush, and not explain single thing and expected us know everything. Finally, doctor, came in and go with in 5 minutes in the super super rush type, not explain things to patient. Rude. BTW, did I mention I wait 1 hour to see doctor even with specific time appointment? Suggested surgery, explain only once. tried to ask again to clear some confusion, inpatient with attitude. not welling to explain more.

I wanted to wait a few weeks before I posted my comments. I had cataract surgery on my left eye at Branson hospital the "traditional" way back in August 2019. Now in February 2020 I had the cataract removed from my right eye at Uptown Eye Specialists clinic at Keele & Steeles. For me BOTH surgeries were pain free, although the traditional method felt weird while it was being done...not painful, just weird because you can feel something touching your eye. I was treated well at both locations...but...i prefer the laser cataract surgery done at the clinic. My eye seems to be healing quicker and the entire process was really smooth. During the laser cataract removal I felt NOTHING touch my eye. Although OHIP does not cover the laser procedure it was worth the money - I wish I had done the other eye at the laser clinic. Dr Maini was really cool and Monica and the rest of the staff were very helpful through the entire process for both eyes. Thank you for helping me see better.

Not caring at all !! Never go here. ! Doctor Lam is not inderstanding. And doesn't care about her patients well being. I've been to 4 specialist in 3 months have not received an answer from anyone on how my eyes are doing. Accept i don't have glaucoma. Asked for a doctors note cas Im nervous to fly 16 hours to another country, cas of my eyes and because i have not recieved any updates on my eyes and still have more eye appts. All they can say is are you stressed ? Well yes because i have not recieved any answers from 3 different doctors. Doctor Lam was her name, not understanding at all. Spent 4 mins with me and when i asked her for the note she said no. As a doctor she should be more understanding when someone pays money for a flight and has not received any information from 3 different doctors about eye condition. That would make anyone not want to fly to another country.

I visited this Eye Specialist with/for my father. We have gone 2-3 times and I view the visits as great. During those visits, my father has to take number of tests and the ladies that conduct those tests are patient with him and make my father feel comfortable and go the extra mile and try to communicate to him his native Italian while the staff's Italian is not their strong suit. As for the Doctors, they actually explain what's going on with his eyes. They are able to do this because we had to pay for additional tests not covered by OHIP for seniors. I don't recall my fathers previous doctors recommending any test even though he was willing to pay for them. With all specialists, visits seem to be lengthy. Overall, I find the experience great.

I felt I had to write a review because my experience was so different from many that have been documented here. To date, I have had three appointments at this clinic. The first appointment was for testing, the second appointment was to see Dr. Nazemi for further diagnosis and the third appointment was for a laser procedure called YAG iridotomy. I had the procedure just yesterday. Contrary to many of the negative reviews on this site I found the wait times to be perfectly acceptable and the staff to be courteous and professional. The YAG laser procedure was a ‘walk in the park’. I had done much research on this procedure and was very concerned about side effects. You’d be wise to do your homework too. I’m happy to say that I am writing this review with absolutely no residual side effects from yesterday’s procedure. It’s true that this is a very busy office and there is no time spent coddling the patient. However, I did my homework and came with questions. Dr. Nazemi was happy to answer them. I had a friend drive me to and from the YAG appointment. You should too. Your vision will be impaired for a few hours until the gel they use has a chance to clear. You will want to close your eyes for comfort. I hope you have a positive experience here. I was nervous going in, but happy to say all went well. I would have given 5 stars, but I called the office to book a secondary test and they didn’t get back to me as promised.

Our family doctor have booked appointment with Dr. Nazemi from Uptown Eye Specialists in September 2014 for April 2015 (!!!) for our 2 year old son. We have got a call from Uptown Eye Specialist's office in March 2015 saying that doctor is not in the office on that day and they have rescheduled the appointment for August 2015 (!!!!!!!!). So they cancel something that was scheduled for 6 month because doctor is "not in the office" and rebook it in another 4 month! I could not believe this! They clearly do not care about their patients. When asked if this is normal, receptionist told me that it is how they do things. Do not take your chances and waste 6 month waiting for a service just to get it rescheduled! Ask your family doctor to refer to a different office!

Most specialists office unfortunately have long wait times and have delays .. & I noticed there is a lot of bad reviews about this office regarding this. I have been to other specialists and noticed the same thing . But it is not all bad , as a former employee at a hospital I understand working with patients in a high volume/and fast paced environment is not easy especially during these unprecedented times. From my understanding this office takes urgent/ER patients which can cause delays , and the doctors here are great and do take time with their patients. And for the receptionists I never encountered them rude , as they seem actually very kind and friendly. People need to realize their is a process and a wait time and sometimes delays, just like hospitals ! I just wanted to share some positivity as not so much people will share them , So thank you for your service , for your care and what you do .

I was referred to the Vaughan office for cataract surgery. The office has multiple units and lots of foot traffic but all my consultations, tests and the surgery itself were done in a timely manner. It’s unusual in my experience to find medical offices that respect appointment times but Uptown delivered on every visit. I found all the staff to be friendly, patient and knowledgeable. In particular, Monica and the pre-surgery staff go above and beyond to ensure you’re well-informed and comfortable. Dr. Maini, my surgeon, was calm, caring, skilled and efficient. The surgery itself - I opted for the laser upgrade - was totally painless and strangely enjoyable; a very unique experience. Recovery was quicker than expected and I’m now looking forward to surgery on my other eye in a few weeks. There’s nothing to fear and everything to gain from undergoing cataract surgery with the exceptional team at Uptown Eye.

Uptown Eye Specialists need to improve their receptionists. For starters, they never pick up the phone when you call their number. My story of waiting goes like this. I had emailed Uptown Eye Specialists the day before my appointment and received confirmation from them. I arrived at my appointment 10 mins before scheduled time, to check in. At check in, I politely asked if there will be a long wait, to which the receptionist replied "No, should be on time". I waited for almost 30 mins and no one called for me. A doctor assistant noticed I had been waiting a long time told me that I was waiting too long and that I was probably not checked in correctly. Receptionists notice this but nothing was done. About 1 hour after my scheduled time, I'm still waiting. I asked a receptionist when is my turn, and she said "your name will be called next". Three names get called and I'm still waiting. Impatiently I asked the receptionists why I'm still waiting after 1 hour since my scheduled appointment time. The receptionists, instead of acknowledging that they had made the mistake of not checking me in, they doubled down by saying "the doctor is in the middle of a laser eye surgery" - which I'm sure was not delayed by 1 hr causing my 1 hr delay. When I finally saw the doctor (1.5 hr total delay), she was much more friendly than their receptionists, even apologizing for my delay. Truly an eye opening experience (pun intended). EDIT: after reading some other reviews, it seems I was lucky to have been waiting just 1.5 hr.

Dr. Darana Yuen was rude, and impatient with my grandmother whom I brought in for an appointment. When it was our turn, she didn’t take the time to understand that my grandmother was under a lot of pain during the treatment. Had an appointment for 8:15 wasn’t seen till 10:30. Which at that point eye drops to dilate my eyes had worn off. The eye drops had to re-administered and wasn’t seen by Dr M Mandelcorn till 11:15. Which was a simple 5-8 Min check and conversation. I can say with complete confidence I will never return. Truly a horrible experience. Never come to this clinic unless you wish to waste your time and have several hours to spare. When i asked the Dr why the long wait and why I was not warned he simply shrugged and said “it is what it is”. Please never come here!!!!!

Dr Tam was inpatient and careless. His visual acuity measurement is useless considering that he would not listen to test replies. He refused to write a work note to acknowledge a given prescription and how it interferes with Ministry of Transportation visual requirements. I would not recommend Uptown Eye to anyone, and will not be going there for any other future surgeries. My mother was referred to Uptown Eye and went to the Vaughan surgical centre for her cataract surgery. Last Sunday, after her surgery, the doctor recommended she switch her eye drops for dry eyes. We paid for the new drops at the front desk and started using it. A day later, my mom's eye began to swell up. I called all the phone lines, including the surgery aftercare after hours phone number. Not one call was picked up, which seems to always be the case with any Uptown Eye location. I emailed them instead explaining the situation and requested they call me. Instead, after numerous email exchanges (and despite having asked them to call in multiple email responses), I found out that the front desk staff gave us the wrong drops. Without any apology they made a temporary recommendation and have since stopped responding. I still don't know whether I'm able to get a refund for the incorrect drops and purchase the correct ones.

This is factory medicine. It's about speed, not quality. Assembly line. Prepare to be there for many hours while you move from section to section.. After my procedure I went back to ask the surgeon a question. Fifteen minutes later, he didn't remember me. Other than through the machine, he never looked up at me. He was on to the next one....

This is NOT a doctors review. It is only relating to the office administration. This clinic requires patient to visit the clinic twice. One for testing and second one to speak with doctor. The wait time is at least one hour plus. This is the only clinic that splits up one appointment into two. The reason told to me is they don’t want the patient to wait long. If the clinic is organized, why would the patients have to wait long ?? There is no respect to the patient’s time. Why making an appointment if you always have to wait minimum one hour. I understand if there are emergency appointments that pushes out scheduled ones. But this cannot happen every day.

It is difficult to understand how a business continually has scheduling difficulties. - it’s not your first month in business. — technicians good , doctors good, but the wait is unacceptable - Get a better scheduling program & system!!!!!!!! Or don’t overbook - the patient’s time is just as valuable - especially all the seniors who rely on pick- ups from Wheel Trans etc and ask favours of family & friends who book off time to assist - every time you come there’s a patient at the desk being told emergency cases have priority - Really? Read the reviews- make your decision. The reviews complaining about waiting are 100% right, so there’s bad with the good ,

Every time I have come ( this is now the third time) I have wanted at least 1 1/2 hours to be seen by assistanto for 2 min then waited on average 30-45 min to see Dr for 5 min. Need to rethink their scheduling practice big time. People have much better things to do!

Waited for a long time but can only see the doctor for 2 minutes. How good the attention would be. The doctor just rushed in and out for different rooms. Too overbooked. Not recommend. Also, making a left turn to Steele's ave from the parking lot is almost impossible in busy hour.

I have been visited Uptown Eye Specialists twice for checking my eyes which is preparing to do Cataract surgery. All nurses of this clinic are really nice and warm that made me no scaring as well as answered all of my questions especially Mabel Chen who explained the surgery procedure and how to care my eyes .... in patience and clear information.

Doctors here speak to you as if you have a university degree in their fields. They need to slow down and take some time to explain. My appointment was barely five minutes long. I was given a sheet of paper and was told very vague information about my eye condition. My sibling went through LASIK MD and had the exact opposite experience. LASIK started from the bottom and worked their way up, in terms of an explanation. Uptown? No care whatsoever. I get it, some patients may be hard to deal with and some may even ask too many questions, but these are important matters. No one goes to the bank, and expects a financial advisor to tell you what to do with your money in five minutes. These things take time. No one should have an appointment booked weeks prior, just to be rushed out of the office. Do yourself a favor, and don't book an appointment here. It's a complete waste of time.

From my experience visiting the clinic in Scarborough the attendants are very professional, respectful and know what they are doing. Also, doctors are very knowledgeable of their profession explain to you the status of your eyes if you require surgery or not and give you all the options whether by OHIP or with fee. In addition, due to COVID19 pandemic they make sure the clinic is clean and sanitized and observed the social distancing. I give the clinic 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ ratings.

Wait more than 1:30 hour and when it was our turn they found out that the lens is not here and when I ask them why it is not here they said that it is especial lens.I told them of course it is and we already book the appointment before 1 month.They act smart but it didn't work and they lie which is make me so mad.

I am only having terrible experiences with this place. In May, 2020, I went here for an eye exam and was told that I needed to go to Brampton Hospital for an eye test. I was told that I would be notified later exactly when so I left. When I got home there was a message on my answering machine that I need to come back to their office since they forgot to get me to sign a waiver form for the hospital. Then they told me that the test at the hospital would be on June 10, 2020. When I arrived at the hospital on June 10, the hospital had no record of my having a test. It turns out that my test was rescheduled to June 24 but nobody informed me. These people are totally incompetent.

I don't think words will precisely explain the extent of the happiness, surprise, awe and delight that I felt because of the change of of my vision after cataracts surgery. I do not think many people will fully understand or share my thoughts and feelings other than those who have had cataract and spent day after day with foggy vision, and at times, filled with stress and worry. Anyway, here I am with a dramatic, mind blowing, and amazing change. I can see clearly now. God is great and thanks to Dr. Fariba Nazemi who did my surgery very well. My thanks also goes to Christy, and the Vaughn surgical team for their hospitality and professional support. Great Job and very successful surgery. I now have very good visual acuity with no post operative complications. Thank you again Dr.Nazemi and Christy.

Got into an emergency with my retina problem and the clinic was able to take me right away. Staff there were helpful. Dr. Mandelcorn was so professional that he examined my eyes thoroughly, found my problem and fixed it right away with laser. What a great relief. Honestly, this place deserves a -1 star rating. Yesterday I brought my mom for a full check up and was shocked how non-professional, unfriendly, impatient and rude the staff were. Luckily we only waited for about 30 minutes. First we were called in to room #6 for a general check up by an assistant Sindhu. She also had another girl with her in the room, I guess it must have been a co-op student. Sindhu came on way too strong, she was very bossy, impatient and unfriendly. She had no people skills whatsoever, and instead of calming down the patient before and during the procedure, she became very aggressive and kept pressuring throughout and created a very stressful environment. Sindhu should not work with patients, and definitely should not be the one to train students, she does not have the empathy nor patience to do so. I have never seen such horrible practice at a medical institution. I highly recommend to everyone to stay away from this place. Your vision is so important, why risk it into those hands that only see you as another number?

I read the reviews and thankfully just in time!!! My husband was scheduled to have and eye test today and having read other people's horrible experience we decided to cancel and ask to be referred to someone else. When I called to cancel the appointment I told the receptionist why...she didn't try to persuade me to reconsider - quite rudely said 'fine..the appointment has been cancelled, bye' and hung up. So glad I read the reviews before travelling almost 2 hours.

Dr.Raj Maini has terrible bed-side manner. Came in with a parent to whom he was rude and condescending. Should understand that working in the health care industry requires some tact with patients. Asked a medical question to which Dr. Maini rudely responded, "Are you a doctor?". After waiting to see this specialist for 2 months, of course a patient will have specific questions. Dr. Maini should be ready to answer all questions openly and in a professional manner.

My experience with Uptown Specialist was ok. The assistants were helpful and informative. The one and only reason why I am not getting my surgery done from them is because of my interactions with Dr. Eric Tam. He is very arrogant and has no patience or manners. Every time I asked a question he would come across irritated, to the point where he was speaking over me. I left there feeling uneasy which ultimately made me cancel my appointments. I will never go back there because of Tam's unprofessional demeanour. If anyone gets a referral to him, don't waste your time. change doctors asap.

I was very impressed with the level of sanitization of furniture and all surfaces The staff wore protective clothing and they required all patients to wear masks, even during their surgery. I had trouble experience with dr nazemi who did cataract surgery on my left eye and nearly destroyed my eyes .right after surgery she pass me to another opthemologist whci he started injecting my eye for every months which could last for years to come.Each injection cost $1000/eye in order to control my retina damage.this could not happen if she did pay attention to condition of eyes before surgery .please do not go to this doctor and clinic.

Horrible place. I highly doubt good reviews which, interestingly, almost all came after bad reviews. First time I came for glaucoma check up and waited 2 hours. For next appointment I insisted to be booked early in the morning and I got 8:30. But I finished at 11:00!!! Doctor told me that I have glaucoma and gave me drops. She was barely two minutes with me and didn't explain anything about glaucoma and what to do. She disappeared before I had chance to ask anything. Third time I had appointment at 12:00. At 2:50 I found out that there are still two patient before me. I loudly complained and within minutes they brought me to some other room and doctor showed up after 5 minutes!! After THREE HOURS of waiting. I had some questions prepared which she answered and disappeared, obviously having no time. It was some of the most humiliating and frustrating experiences I've ever had.
