I was not pleased with my service as I only had the chance to make it as for as the reception desk on my first and only appointment with Bower Place Eye Centre due to issues they had with direct billing to a prominent insurance provider.
I attended the Bower Place Eye Centre in Mid December to book an appointment for a regular checkup. While booking my appointment I ensured with the receptionist that they did direct billing to insurance providers as this was something very important to me as I do not like having to mail / e-mail in receipts and having to wait to have my money reimbursed. As well I knew my benefits package would cover this expense. The receptionist ensured me that they did direct billing.
I booked an appointment in January as I wanted to ensure that both my wife and I could attend, as I wanted her assistance picking out a pair of glasses after my appointment. The appointment date was tricky as both my wife and I work very hectic schedules, however we found a date which worked.
On the day of the appointment my wife and I attend Bower Place Eye Centre at 09:30 am and I were met by two receptionist, both not seemingly too pleased in helping me. However I started to speak with one of the receptionists and advised her of the appointment I was there for. She confirmed some information with me and requested my insurance information.
I provided her with my BLUECROSS health care insurance card. The receptionist took the card to a co-worker or hers and returned and advised that they could not direct bill, and that I would have to pay for the checkup, and wait to be reimbursed.
As I am sure you can imagine this was very frustrating as this appointment was planned well in advance to ensure I could have my wife with my during this appointment, and they ensured me that they could direct bill as this was very important to me.
I couldn’t believe they could not direct bill to BLUECROSS, and frankly was frustrated with the service; I told them I would cancel my appointment.
I few days after I went to a nearby optometrist office and was comforted as they were able to confirm they would be able to direct bill to BLUECROSS. I was weary due to my dealings at Bower Place Eye Centre, however this optometrist office was able to confirm with my BLUECROSS card on their system that they could direct bill before I left.
I am not sure if the receptionist at the Bower Place Eye Centre did not understand how to process the BLUECROSS insurance information, or was just too lazy to ask. However I can’t believe that an optometrist practice that does direct billing would not direct bill to arguably one of the most prominent health care insurance providers, BLUECROSS. For this reason I was not satisfied with the service.
I had no contact with any of the optometrist or there medical staff, and this review should not reflect on their service.
