Horrible first impression from rude receptionists, but that seems par for the course with other reviews. Dr Bonn was professional and skilled in interacting with my child. Horrible last impression from rude receptionists again, when I asked for an emailed appointment confirmation (to minimize contact in consideration of COVID-19) I got a blunt "we don't do that" and silence. So I picked up the pen and the appointment card on the counter - more for them to sanitize later. Perhaps the gals at the front need to remember they run an eye clinic not the Queen's Museum. If you'd like me to call before I come in, it will take better organization on your part to ensure adequate signage is in place (MAKE IT BIG AND IN YOUR FACE), and be empathetic to those who did not see the sign, rather than being condescending and rude. Your COVID practices seem to have little logical sense, one way arrows pointing in from the only entrance to the clinic, and a wall of chairs blocking off a nice 2m separation for those wanting to exit the clinic. I'll go back for the doctor, but hopefully the rude reception staff have their own clock since they won't get the time of day from me. Update your practices - you're sitting in front of a computer, figure out how to send an email for an appointment confirmation. As sure as I can write this review, you can send an email message to a client trying to reduce unnecessary touch points during a COVID pandemic.

A really good doctor! I understand some people gave him a low rating due to the wait time, BUT the reason why you wait is because he wants to make sure he spends enough quality time with each child and the parents and answers all the questions a worried parent may have. Please understand that. He is a very knowledgeable doctor with great experience. We'll be back for next check up and will bring our second child too.

Ridiculous wait times, find another place a 5 min annual check up takes over an hour to just get in after having a scheduled appointment. They do not care about other peoples time and just tell you that he spends as much time as he can with each child. If this is the case and you always have to wait they ahould be scheduling patients farther appart.

Worst experience with a doctor!!!! He has absolutely no patience with my daughter and I had to go see another doctor because his diagnostic was not right and my daughter couldn't see a thing with her glasses. This was my first and last visit to this clinic and I think Dr Bonn should retired...

The office in general exhibits a very low level of professionalism. Absurd wait times during appointments, last minute cancellations on appointments we waited for months. In my experience there is zero flexibility and completely unsympathetic reception staff. Worth exploring other offices before committing to this one if your child only needs glasses. May be worth for more complex eye problems but not for general eye health.

My 1.5 year old daughter had an appointment with Dr Bonn and we waited 2+ hours and didn't even see him. His grandkids came in first and he repeatedly left the office because "the guy is here to check out my car". We also couldn't give my daughter any food/drink while there (except in the lobby of the office building). I could deal with that, it was a huge pain but ... however, when my tired and hungry baby started melting down, his staff laughed at her!!! THEY LAUGHED!!! You keep an active 1.5 year old waiting for over 2 hours then laugh at her when she's had enough ... how unprofessional and downright heartless!!!! Not to mention the signs everywhere saying how if you don't give 24 hours nnotice to reschedule an appointment you will be charged $60/$85 .... maybe we should charge him for our time and distress. It's very rare that I get angry to that point, but this was absolutely ridiculous! We walked out and will not ever be returning!! Sidenote: It would have been a 5 minute appointment.

We brought our son to Dr. Bonn... we got there and were greeted with smiles and politeness... we were seen within 20 minutes and we had a small.concern about his right eye and Dr. Bonn too the time to look and to find out what is going on... he told us it is nothing to worry about... now I read all the reviews and disagree with alot of them... Dr. Bonn and staff were great they helped us and such if people read the signs posted on the walls they explain why the wait times can be long... I understand people are concerned for thier children it that's why Dr. Bonn takesnthe time to look at everthing... I for one recommend him... Great doctor and team... Thank you for looking at our son and reassuring us he is fine...

Apt booked a year in advance, was changed by the office. I didn't receive the message and missed my (newly scheduled) apt. No follow up calls to make sure I received message. When I called after receiving a missed apt message, I was told I would be charged for my missed apt! And apparently it is all my fault, as said by the office worker. Oh original apt was confirmed the week before. Apparently that didn't happen either.

Dr. Bonn is amazing. My son hurt his head (right above the eye) and we were worried about his eyesight. Dr. Bonn managed to see us the next day he was in the clinic and took every measurement to assure us about the situation.

Find someone else. The waits are horrible and he's not nice to kids, which seems a bit odd considering his profession. when my daughter had come back for a biannual check of her strabismus, he yelled at her when she said she couldn't see. She was maybe 2.5/3 years old. I dropped him as a doctor then and there and never looked back. She went to cheo and got good care there. Her vision was restored to just above what would be considered legally blind. She's 12 now and happy as a clam. AVOID this man.

I had a fantastic experience bringing my daughter today. The receptionist was friendly and to the point. Dr.Bonn was very friendly and informative. He was great with daughter as well! Wait times were not bad at all

Dr Bonn has been my doctor since I was a kid. He has had hours for his kid (now adut patients) on one weekday evening a month. He's straight forward and to the point. He is one of the very few (used to be the only one) kids opthamologists left. you see laser surgery for a doctor is a gold mine - which he doesn't practise. instead, he's in the trenches with you all doing the dirty work that no one else in his profession has chosen to do. At the very least respect is what is a doctor's due. Over the many years (that would be about 40 years now - hard to believe but true) Dr. Bonn is dedicated to both his patients and his family. His wife (also a business type person) has run the office for many years. I assume she still does. So in order to have a life yes, maybe his car guy came to his office (because with the ridiculous hours he still works - remember there aren't other specialists - and he does CHEO work as well because I have seen him in the OR - operating room hall - when my daughter was a CHEO for another reason - he most likely can not make it to the dealership easily - your one hour wait is because he is with patients not coming back from a three martini lunch). SO if his grand kids come to his office - who the heck wouldnt say hello to them if this was your life. People these days have no clue as to what it takes to run a practise or a business and how little available time this man would have. So to the reviewers here: if you don't value his service, then why should he value yours. If you did buy contact lenses somewhere else, then your child most likely didnt need his specialty services. He is a specialist. Not just a general doctor and the last time I checked, he was the only one in the Eastern area of Ontario. Any specialist and any doctor who actually cares about you - yup, there could be a wait time. Why are we all in such a rush these days????? as a fifty year old woman, it gets tiring to listen to people rant about someone who does a fabulous job and discredits his talent because they don't happen to like his bedside manner. This is a serious business with the eyes or any health care and he's not the only doctor who asks you follow his advice if you go to see him; i mean, isn't that what you came there for in the first place? Let up people with the reviews on throwing people under the bus with a 1/5. You hate him? what the heck. Doctor Bonn is a dedicated professional. A great doctor and a good man. I am grateful to both he and his family for dedicating his life to us.

Prior to seeing Dr. Bonn, our daughter was given the wrong eye glass prescription and treatment plan by an optometrist. Dr. Bonn gave our daughter the correct prescription, told us that we did not need to follow the treatment plan described by the optometrist (in fact, doing so would cause more damage), explained why the optometrist made a mistake, and then contacted the place where we bought our glasses to explain why we needed to replace the eye glass lenses. Dr. Bonn is a highly competent ophthalmologist.

Horrible experience, customer service is horrible, treated like a dog. These people have absolutely no respect for human beings, I have never been treated like that before in my entire life, in fact I have never seen anyone treated like we were today. I was referred there by our optometrist, but will be visiting a different specialist. I do not recommend that doctor

It took over 2 hours for him to see my son. This might aswell be a walk in clinic. Show up an hour after your supposed to and you'll still be waiting forever. It's not easy to keep your 1 year old busy in a waiting room that long. He just told me to come back in 3 months after examining my son for 5 minutes at most. Huge waste of time. Never going back.

My daughter was a patient of Dr Bonn's from the age of 19 months (she is 16 now). His demeanor with the children is lukewarm at best. Waiting times are horrible. Despite these shortcomings we continued all these years and even opted for surgery last year. The results were great. Today during a scheduled visit he was upset that I purchased my daughters contact lenses from another location. It was nothing personal but I have the right to shop around. The RESULT was a 3 min exam followed by dropping my daughter as a patient. He didn't even has the decency to tell it to my face, his receptionist did. Most shocking was he ended the appt knowing she had trouble reading the largest letters. He put dollars and cents before my daughter's well being. Gutless and unprofessional, Merry Christmas Gary

Disgusting service. Infant children made to wait while Dr Bonn visits with his Grandchildren and while a "guy came to look at his car". My wife and daughter have just left after waiting over 2 hours. One of his staff found it extremely funny that my daughter got upset after waiting so long. Needs to sort himself out and both he and his practice need to start acting with some professionalism.

Dr Bonn is great, his policies are terrible. Showed up this morning for our appointment but was turned away. My son has been seeing Dr Bonn for 3 years, i didn't have his health card with me, only a photo of it. I have done this in the past, but today they decided that it was their policy to not allow patients in without the card. Was then told that we will have to reschedule and will be charged $40 for the short notice change. Absolutely ridiculous. If you accepted a photo in the past why decide to impose your "rules" today?

The worst medical experience we have ever had with this doctor. He refused 2 referrals from 2 different family doctors that referred us to him with an eye problem of my daughter., which kept getting worse. After contacting him asking what was the reason of refusal I was said that this is not an emergency and their office sent the instructions how to treat it which we have never got. Then when I insisted that he sees my daughter and sent him a pictures of her eye condition he prescribed her ointment without seeing her????????????He was very rude and impatient with our concern and tried to convince me that for the surgery we will need to wait a year and there is no point to go to CHEO emerge because he is part of the team there too....luckily we got a referral for other specialist Dr.Belliveau which was able to help my daughter in 2 weeks and do a surgery for her eye and remove the lesion which wouldn't go away by itself as per Dr.Bonn. Stay away from this Doctor!

Wonderful ☺ Nothing but great service from Doctor Bonn. My 3 year old daughter is on a waiting list for surgery. Doctor Bonn has and will be following her until then and he will be performing surgery at CHEO. Waiting time is overall normal considering he's a specialist, it's very normal to have to wait.

I have nothing but great things to say about Dr Bonn and everyone in the office. My twin girls have been his patients since 2.5years old and they are now 6. We travel from North Bay and I would not have it any other way. He has always had a smile on his face when he sees us and we always get in before our time or shortly after the time. Keep in mind when they call you they say it could be up to 2 hours in office. He not only deals with patients in town he does have them out of town. I would HANDS DOWN recommend him to anyone. He's done 2 surgeries each between my girls and there have had no issue and healing has been quick! Words from two 6 year olds... He is amazing, he is the best, he's like family, he helped us see better, we're going to miss seeing him.
