You will see the opinions of real people who used the services of Ottawa Eye Clinic (Ophthalmologist) in the area of Ontario (Canada).
Currently this business receives a rating of 3.3 over 5 and this rating has been calculated on 46 reviews.
As you can see it reaches an opinions average is average, neither too high nor too low, and it is based on a high number of reviews, so we may conclude that the assessment is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the service, it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to give tatings when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Ophthalmologist is included in the category of Eye care center.
Very poor experience, in fact wasn't able to see a Dr. since after confirming my appointment (with their automated IVR system), they changed it without any notice to myself. This is not acceptable. No apology, no offer to accommodate. I drive an hour to attend this clinic and am very disappointed with their service.
I had good service, no long waits. They even called me a couple of weeks (maybe 2 months?) After I got my replacement frames and lenses to see if everything was ok, which it was. They also offer free cleaning fluid refills when you run out! This place is much easier to drive in coming in from the West also, as the car entrance is extremely close to the intersection of Montreal Rd and aviation parkway. Don't even thing about trying to turn left when you'll want to exit the parking lot! ;)
This is regarding Kevin Chavez & The Ottawa Eye Clinic at 680 Montreal Rd. Kevin, an optometrist there, is quite obviously an expert in his field who possesses tremendous people skills. His attention to detail is noteworthy and greatly reassuring: he is painstakingly thorough. The operation of this clinic is competent, *friendly* and modern, beginning at reception and carrying through to the doctors. I received the absolute best care during my first visit. This is where I will have all future eye exams done, and absolutely where I will have my GP refer me when I require assistance from their ophthalmology department.
Enjoyed the place but I was new to town and had forgotten to get my insurance card so I had to pay 200 dollars which was a waste
Very pleased with the eye clinic. Very professional!
I deal with this clinic four year for my check ups but buy my glasses else were
It's a good place to go. I just was there today and they were able to accommodate me on an hour's notice because they had an opening. The doctor was really friendly I can't remember her name tho I also got glasses and the ladies were quite helpful with selecting a good frame for my face and said they would be ready within a few business days (4-3). The only reason I didn't give five stars is because i called two times and both times I called I was on hold for 5 to 10 minutes but other than that great service :)
I'm not sure where all of these negative reviews are coming from, but not a single one reflects the experiences I've had here for over 2 years. I have a chronic eye condition which requires me to have to see an eye Dr. once a week for months at a time. Not only is Dr. Koala the most competent, informed, empathetic and knowledgeable physician I've ever had, the front desk staff are courteous, kind, organized and prompt. As a self employed businessperson I'm obsessed with time and punctuality, and I have *never* had an appointment run late at this office. They have a real respect for the value of the patients time. The other Doctors in this city could learn a lot from this office which runs like a well oiled machine.
Terrible, can’t keep time at all! First appointment was 1 hour late. Now waiting for my 2nd appointment, first ability of the day and it’s now almost an hour late again for the first appointment of the day! Very unimpressed and strongly not recommend.
Dr. Poleski did both my eyes @ the Montford and he was fantastic. I was so nervous but did not feel any discomfort. The waiting room was clean and the girl that was behind the desk was wonderful and understanding. I am diabetic so this great care was wonderful. Thank you
Took my daughter to this clinic today and I left very disappointed. I give 3 stars not just 1 because the young Dr recognised his unprofessional conduct. What did he do exacly? He allowed in his office 2 marketing ladies who spent with him about 30 minutes while 3 patients were busy yawning in the waiting room. When the Dr finally let us in, I was so disappointed and had no choice but to explicity express him that. Glad he understood and apologised. There is still a room for improvement. Time is money! Best Regards!
Won't give you PD measurements with an eye exam (can't even for extra fee) unless you buy glasses from them. Will not go again.
Dr Poleski has a very bad attitude, avoid him!!!
I booked an appointment over the phone just as I have been doing for many years with this clinic, just to find that on the day of that they have no record of me booking the appointment or the doctor that I'll be seeing. Very disappointing and unprofessional especially since I had to take time off in the morning for this appointment and drive all the way from the west side. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
Super office staff and an excellent eye exam!
I have seen Dr French on two occasions since my prior ophthalmologist's retirement. I found Dr French to be most knowledgable and helpful; I felt she was keenly interested in my welfare as a patient. At my recent appointment during these Covid times I found the staff helpful and diligent in following all safety protocols. I would highly recommend Dr French and her team.
Doctors are very knowledgable, staff is friendly and there is a great selection of frames!
1) If you have recurrent corneal abrasions (epithelial basement membrane dystrophy), DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC to see Dr.Poleski! I was left to suffer for years with this condition and was told the only option to deal with the problem was to use eye lubricants. The Eye Institute offers PTK laser surgery for this (covered by OHIP). When I asked my specialist at the Eye Institute why Dr. Poleski didn’t know about this surgery, I was told that Dr. Poleski had privileges at their clinic, that he certainly knew how to perform PTK surgery, and the only reason why he likely didn’t provide the surgery would be because he’d make about half the amount of money that he could charge for PRK. 2) Dr. Poleski said I would need glasses and did a quick eye exam; Dr.Koala who I initially had to see before Dr. Poleski said I did not. When I got Dr.Poleski’s script filled for glasses, the prescription was wrong. I had to go back and get it revised by Dr. Koala after my glasses and lenses were already made. Dr. Koala was irritated with me that she had to redo an eye exam that she never completed (but should have done herself at our initial visit). The right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing in that office. 3) Reception staff have difficulty answering the phone, returning messages, and give incorrect information about referrals. They tried to tell me that if I wanted to return to see Dr. Poleski for a follow up that I would need a new referral from my GP....for the same issue in the same month! Can anyone say OHIP scam? You couldn’t pay me to return here.
Dr. Poleski was excellent ! He restored my eyesight to perfect ! Very professional; couldn't ask for a better doctor. No pain, two operations, and I'm done! Exactly what the doctor ordered !
Worst experience ever! I am extremely unsatisfied by the service I received at this clinic. Someone had forgotten to book my appointment and the lady at the front desk suggested I go somewhere else when I expressed my disappointment... she was SO rude. When I was finally able to see the doctor, the appointment lasted 5 minutes! I have never had an eye exam last that shortly, she barely asked me any questions. I would also like to mention that the equipment seemed out dated. I would usually never take the time to write a bad review but I was honestly so shocked by this experience!
The ladies at the ottawa eye clinic were amazing with my 1.5 year old and his firat laid of glasses. They made it fun and not at all scary. Thank you so so much!
I’m surprised by the low rating of this clinic. I found the staff very efficient and professional when I arrived. I was checked in quickly by the staff and seen by my optometrist Dr. Das right on time. Dr. Das is actually the sweetest and most assuring optometrist I’ve seen in Ottawa. She gave me such confidence in her abilities and gave me a thorough eye exam while explaining what she was doing and encouraging questions. She was perfect I highly recommend her! My search for a good optometrist in Ottawa ends here.
Don't understand on what basis people give poor rating and reviews. They are not professionals or do not have the qualification to judge his knowledge. Can review or comment on everything else but knowledge unless you are an ophthalmologist yourself. I found Dr Steven Poleski and his staff quite professional.
Great service. The girls in optical are so welcoming and helpful
I am a new customer... At least I would like to be. I have been calling 4 times today... and put on hold for 15- 20 mins each time. Finally someone spoke to me on the fourth call... only to put me back on hold. I had to hang up after another 10 mins wait. Apparently it is very difficult to make an appointment. I am disappointed... this clinic is a walking distance from my place!!!! I will have to find somewhere else, as this is not the service I am seeking! :(((
They cannot keep the appointments, I booked an appointment with Dr. Koala, for today at 1:40, when I got to the clinic they informed me that the appointment was moved for a week from today at 3:00 pm, never called me, needless to say how upset I am.
I am extremely satisfied by the service Thank you Said
I had a full eye exam done by an optometrist at another clinic, and then I was referred to Dr. Poleski through my family doctor. I was called by Dr. Poleski's clinic and informed that Dr. Poleski required me to redo the optometrist eye exam at their clinic at $125, before he sees me. I asked what was wrong with the full exam I'd already done and paid for, the only exam that would be covered by my insurance, or if my optometrist was not competent? The reply was that they did not have enough information from my optometrist. So, I said, okay, I will get you more details, will that work? They said yes. While I went off to get them the details, thinking I was dealing with a professional clinic, they got in touch with my family doctor to reject my referral, and said they were not accepting clients at the moment! I have since been rejected by other ophthalmologists which makes me wonder, if there possibly might be some petty, vindictive and unprofessional behaviour going on.
I have been a patient of Dr. Koala for years and have always been very satisfied with her thorough exams and advice. Today, I had a visit with a new opthalmologist, Dr. Codi Li. I am happy that Dr. Li did not find cataracts in my eyes but I am stunned by a length or rather shortness of my visit (about 2 min) and a hurried manner with which Dr. Li conducted the exam. I have a family history of macular degeneration and wanted to ask some questions but there was no time for it. Dr. Li completed his residency in 2021 with honors, so I do not doubt his professional skills. However, as person just starting a carrier, he should be more attentive and thorough. I am saying so as a patient and as a retired professor of physiology.
Booked an appointment for my infant son and arrived on time. It was scheduled for today at 11:40am. Besides all of the unprofessionalism I saw from the majority of the staff, we waited for a half hour and still weren’t seen. Maybe they don’t know how babies work but there’s a pretty small window of time I can keep my son content enough to go through appointments and that window of time was fleeting. When I asked if they could cancel my appointment so that it would not count towards my sons free eye exam for the year covered by OHIP the woman said ok and there were no apologies over their poorly scheduled day. Their focus seemed to be on the pizza missing from their order from pizza pizza. I would recommend anyone with a small child go elsewhere. The driver from pizza pizza who delivered the order was the most professional and courteous person i met there today.
I've always had a good experience at this clinic. Dr. Maimouna Koala is fantastic.
