I thought I'd try this location as it's a lot closer to home than my previous optometrist. I was in on Saturday January 18, 2020 for an eye examination and I have to say that the entire experience from the front desk to the pre exam tests, and the exam itself with Dr. Jeff Goodhew was excellent. As a nice bonus, it looks like they're using modern equipment. My old optometrist never took pictures of my eyes, it's really cool to "see" that!

If you want to know what going above and beyond means, then you want Dr. Tina Goodhew as your optometrist! After spending years being told by other doctors that I couldn't wear contact lenses, and that they couldn't figure out what was wrong with my eyesight, Dr. Tina took to the time to work with me on finding out what was going on with my eyes. As it turns out, I have keratoconus, and once diagnosed she worked hard to get me into a study that would allow for me to receive eye surgery to help stall the development of the disease! She supported me every step of the way, and even returned a phone call from me on the Sunday night before my surgery when I was having a mini panic attack :) I am so grateful to Dr. Tina for everything she has done to support me in my mission towards better vision. I can't recommend Abbey Eye Care enough!

Drs. Jeff and Tina Goodhew and their team have assisted my family for the last 4 years, most recently within the last month. Each time we have visited their office we have been treated professionally and with personalized attention. My most recent visit was to identify an issue with my prescription that had occurred within the past year. The issue was identified swiftly, a range of options discussed, and a new set of lenses ordered and delivered within 2 weeks. The test of the new lenses in the office suggested confirmation of the diagnosis and recommendation, and once home, I was able to corroborate the benefits of the new lenses immediately. The correction addressed not just vision concerns, but corresponding neck and back aches due to compensations made because of the changes to my vision. This has been a material improvement to quality of life. I have no hesitation recommending Abbey Eye Care.

I had an emergency and the receptionist informed me that a) that the doctor was fully booked for the day and b) due to affirmative job action, they are not taking new patients and I should go to the hospital. When I checked with other offices those doctors accept new patients. Misinformation and lack of caring for someone in a time of need. I will go anywhere but here.

I have to say Dr. Tina is so kind, skilled and persevering. I got a particle into my eye and my upper eye lip is very hard to flip over. She tried many instruments and methods like flushing with water, rubing with a cotton swab and kinds of small tools, over and over. Finally she got the particle out with the aid of an assistance. I feel so good and big thanks to Dr. Tina and her team!

It is absolutely my pleasure to write a review for the Abbey Eye Care. My eye condition is one which is very unpredictable as well as fairly rare. After moving to the Oakville area I needed to find an optometrist near my home as well as able to handle my condition. I didn’t have any referrals to go by, so I started at Abbey Eye Care. I never needed to go elsewhere. The doctors are caring, gentle, knowledgeable and have gone above and beyond every time to assist me. I know I am being cared for by a team who have my best interest at heart. The staff are friendly, honest and knowledgeable, the office hours are convenient and there is a large collection of glasses to choose from in the office. On advice from a friend, I had my progressive glasses checked by Dr. Jeff Goodhew just to find that the other doctor I had been to before had not even noticed the double vision or "prism" in my eyes. Fortunately, Dr. Jeff did a thorough examination and handed me a prescription which I took to the earlier eye care office and had them replace my glasses. Great experience! Now I can watch TV and work on my computer perfectly and comfortably thanks to the excellent scrutiny of Dr. Jeff! I cannot thank him enough to have brought comfort back to my eyes. My Family and I have been coming to Abbey Eye Care for many years and it has always been a wonderful experience. We have consistently been treated with the utmost care and respect and it's comforting to know that our eye care is being administered by a really professional team. For example, my son has needed glasses since the age of 10 and experienced a problem wearing them while playing Rep Hockey. The Abbey Eye Team helped him into contact lenses and spent an extraordinary amount of time selected the right contacts, training him in their use and making sure that he was comfortable. I've seen all the optometrists, and most recently, Dr Adrienne Tong, twice. I found that she took the time to answer all my questions and was very kind and understanding. She was very thorough and looked into specific concerns that I had. I like the glasses I got, and found them to be reasonably priced. Dr Tong suggested a new coating for people who spend a lot of time looking at screens. It's supposed to reduce strain on your eyes. I work at a screen several hours a day, and it feels like it was worth the very small additional cost. In fact, the morning before I went for the appointment, I was fiddling with my monitor settings because everything seemed "off," somehow. I don't know if it's the coating or the new lenses, but I was quite surprised at the look of things now. I even tried with my old glasses to compare, and there is a significant difference. I do plan to return to Abbey Eye Care when the time comes.

Our family has been going to Abbey Eye Care for the past 3 years and we have always received the the very best service and care there. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and the doctors are very thorough and compassionate. We have seen 3 different doctors there, and each of them were fantastic. Last year one of my daughters was hit in the eye with a skipping rope and she was in a lot of pain. We were very worried and so we called Abbey Eye Care. Dr. Tina Goodhew stayed after hours to accommodate us. It gave us peace of mind, and saved us waiting hours at the emergency. I would highly recommend this office. They are fantastic!

Couple of years ago I needed a repair to a pair of eyeglasses and dropped into the Abbey Eye Care and asked, do I need to be a patient to have the glasses repair. With a warm smile, the receptionist advice, the repair could be done right away. I was pleasantly surprised with the level of customers service and upon leaving the eye clinic, I made a mental note, if I needed to look for a new Optometrist, I would definitely considered this eye clinic. This year I needed to look for a new Optometrist, I approached Dr. Tina Goodhew on whether she was accepting new patients and booked appointment. Upon completion of the eye exam, Dr. Tina Goodhew took the time to explain the results in layman terms. I need to have my reading glasses updated and was advise it may take a couple of days to get use to the new eye prescription. There was no adjustment period; the change done to the reading glasses was right on My experience as a new patience was outstanding and would highly recommend the Abbey Eye Care Clinic to anyone looking for a new Optometrist.

I met Doctors Jeff and Tina Goodhew 4 years ago due to an emergency. My vision in one eye had become warped so I called the office to make an appointment explaining my situation. It was my first time calling for an appointment and their staff made my appointment immediately. I was diagnosed with bleeding in the back of my eye and they took immediate action in referring me to an ophthalmologist. Within 24 hours I received the care that I needed from that specialist. The quick action of both Doctors saved my vision. Their genuine care still carries through since my meeting them four years ago. I visit them every six months for testing to make certain that I am not hemorrhaging in the back of my eyes and I am still in the care of the ophthalmologist that they referred me to. Since then, I have referred many of my family members as patients knowing that the care and commitment that both Doctors have given me will also be given to them. Thank you is not a big enough word for Dr. Tina and Dr. Jeff Goodhew for all that they have done and continue doing.

Life changing vision therapy - My daughter had been experiencing daily headaches, eye strain, and increasing difficulties with reading and schoolwork (skipping words, difficulty moving from line to line on a page, etc). Her binocular vision difficulty had been missed by other doctors and optometrists at other clinics. Dr Quinn at Abbey Eye Care was the first to recognize and diagnose this for her. He and her Vision Therapist developed a customized therapy program for my daughter including in-clinic, home exercises and computer exercises. She now rarely has headaches, her frustration has decreased, and she is excelling at school. Thanks for improving her life!!!

great experience. Brought to my attention by my neighbour, who has been using them for years. Knowledgeable staff, especially Dr Jeff. He answered all my questions and made me relaxed from the moment I walked into his office. Bought, new to me, progressive type sunglasses and new eyeglasses. Delivered in timely fashion, and amazing clarity and with little to no adjustment period. Had a mishap with my sunglasses (totally my fault) and they were able to replace them for me no questions asked. Overall excellent service and would highly recommend. Will be back in future.

I recently had my eyes examined at Abbey Eye Care and the entire process was professional and efficient. They called me to remind me that I was due for an appointment....which I appreciate. I set an appointment that was convenient to my schedule. The office is a clean and friendly environment. When I arrived one of the team members greeted me by name. Very Cool! Initially I met with one of the team members who led me through some initial tests. After that I met with Dr. Jeff who performed the more detailed tests. He took the time to explain the different procedures and how my eyes have changed since my last visit. He also took time to ask about my lifestyle and how I 'use' my eyes. From this information he was able to make specific suggestions about glasses, contact lenses and laser surgery. I appreciate his honest recommendations about what was best for my situation....not just trying to sell me something! Thanks to Drs. I have had the worst possible customer experience with Abbey Eye Care. My 4 year old needed glasses, and I went to them based on many good reviews and them promoting themselves as being experienced with fitting children for glasses. Almost 6 weeks later and I STILL don't have my sons glasses. How anyone can think that 6 weeks is an acceptable wait for glasses, especially for a child, is beyond me. First I was told the wait from the supplier would be 2-3 weeks. It was 4. Why they are selling frames that take so long to come in for children is a testament to their lack of appreciation for children's vision care and needs. Then I was told 7-10 days for the lenses to come in. Really? Every other optometry shop I visited in Oakville (trust me, I shopped around A LOT) told me maximum 1 week. Also, when we went in to get the glasses fitted, they tried to up-sell us on getting anti-glare for my sons lenses, without even telling us they were adding this pricey extra. When I inquired about it, because I knew that anti-glare is not recommended for children, the girl clearly had no idea what I was talking about. So their default is up-sell unnecessary products that are actually NOT recommended for children (anti glare tends to get very foggy and creates a film with young children since they often handle the lenses). When I tried to impress on them that that was a very long wait, that we had waited already almost 4 weeks, the girl basically said, "it's not our fault, we can't do anything". There was no concern about the excessive wait, and basically they washed their hands of any responsibility. We are now at 9 business days waiting on the glasses to come back from the lab, and I'm told the shop is closed 2 days a week, so too bad for us, it will probably be over 6 WEEKS before my son gets his glasses. Thank goodness I purchased other frames a few weeks ago as a back up, or my son would have not been able to see these past 4 weeks. Oh, and those were in from the lab within 4 working days. 2 weeks is completely unacceptable and Abbey Eye Care simply makes excuses rather than providing service. DO NOT TRUST ABBEY EYE CARE WITH YOUR CHIDLRENS' VISION!!!!!!

As someone who has had fairly in depth eye exams done in an “eye clinic” in a hospital every 6 months for approximately the last 25 years, I am thrilled to be able to go to have all my exams done at Abbey Eye Care. The equipment is much newer, the atmosphere is much more welcoming and comfortable and the staff is exceptionally professional, helpful, cheerful and very caring. They have a great selection of frames and lenses to suit you and your needs. The staff is very knowledgeable in finding the right fit. I can personally vouch for how patient they are. They listen to you and don’t force anything on you. They listen to your concerns, likes and dislikes and continue to share their experience and expertise to make sure you get the best for you. Both Doctors are very knowledgeable, helpful and extremely professional. I learned more about my eye health in one visit than I did at the “eye clinic” I went to twice a year for 25+ years. I had an excellent experience at Abbey Eye Care. I saw Dr. Quinn and Jen for vision therapy after a concussion. They did a phenomanal job of setting up a plan and supporting me throughout my treatment. While the therapy was sometimes difficult, as the weeks went on I saw great progress with my symptoms. My only regret is that I didn't begin seeing them earlier! Other staff was friendly and professional as well.

My family have been patients at Abbey Eye Care for many years and we find the service to be first class. From the first moment you walk in you are greeted by a friendly and efficient front staff lead by Judy. A few years ago I developed double vision. I did not even consider going to my family doctor. Without hesitation I headed to Abbey Eye Care. Tina is my usual doctor but Jeff was on duty that day. Of course I was afraid. Jeff was amazing. He reassured me, quickly and efficiently did all the appropriate testing, gave me his opinion of the possible diagnosis and had me in to see an ophthalmic neurologist within 2 weeks. I feel very strongly that had I gone through my family doctor that the whole process would have taken much longer and been more complicated. I was lucky that it was not serious and spontaneously cleared in a few months but Jeff's professionalism and attention to detail was invaluable. I recently had my appointment and Tina was not available so I was seen by the new associate Dr. Cverko. She was absolutely lovely. Extremely personable and knowledgeable and I felt like I had known her for years. If you are looking for the kind of office where people care and are genuinely interested then this is the place to go.
