I am a long time patient of Dr Toby Mandelman. I have been to several other Doctors prior and hands down she is the best. I have also had the opportunity to visit Dr. Dobson and was very impressed. The staff, what can I say, Renee, Tara, Angela and everyone else is there to service all the doctors clients with a big smile. You will never go wrong visiting Bedford Eye Care

Pros: Very professional and probably the fastest appointment you'll ever make. There are multiple Dr's on site so they can see more patients than most offices. The whole experience was great Cons: Too far out. Expensive and some unnecessary exams that add up to the fee. I won't take away the wonderful experience I had with the doctors and staff but the two star rating based solely on the fact that they recommended an eye drop for my eye due to some irritation but the bottle was expiring the month after. I was told that it shouldn't matter because the eye drop is still good past the actual expiry date. Not the point though. I'd still feel more comfortable if I wasn't given a medicine that has less than 30 day expiry date label. In addition, I came in for an eye exam but once after the exam was over I was asked to sit down for what would have been new glasses fitting, which I didn't ask for. I just politely refused and asked for the prescription and left. Again, the whole experience was nice but those two things weirded me out that's all. I didn't go back because of that.

I could not be more impressed with Bedford Eye Care! My husband lost his glasses in the lake and they were the only place that would help us. Neither of us is a patient with them. I called many places but was unable to get him in for a contact fitting anywhere. Then I called Bedford Eye Care, they said their contact fitter was working in a different department the next day but if I called first thing in the morning she might be able to fit him in. Everyone I spoke to was so kind and understanding. He was able to get squeezed in and now has contacts while we wait for his new glasses. I think we both will switch over to be patients there.

Sudden Repair Need was perfect! I am not a client of this business, but will be based on a a sudden breakage of my glasses, brought them in and, expected to leave them. They were fixed within minutes!

It was the first time I got my eyes checked. I did need glasses. I could not walk around and see what styles were out there, they picked what they "thought" would look on me. Which I did not like. The ones I loved she told me she didn't like it which I was not expecting anyone to put their opinion in. all the ones she pick were soo exspensive. No deals no savings. The women who checked my eyes was amazing though.

It is one thing to say customer service is wonderful, however the knowledge and skills along with the technology makes Bedford Eye Care a first class Optometry clinic! I have been a patient for better than 20 years and I cannot see myself getting better advice or care anywhere. The selection of frames, lens, and the thoroughness of the exam provide the utmost in skill and confidence. If you haven't been to there new clinic, I encourage you to go!

Went here for an eye exam last week. I thought the Covid protocols were well conveyed and adhered to and every step with the technician and optometrist went smoothly and was professional. Things then got strange. When the exam was done as I was lead to a small desk with 2 chairs with plexiglass in the middle. The optometrist introduced me to another person who started discussing my prescription. I didn't understand what was going on and asked if this was now a sales pitch to sell me glasses (which I did not ask for or told was going to occur). She seemed to get offended by me asking this and we fairly quickly ended the conversation when I told her I was at the facility for an eye exam, not to purchase glasses. In the end I guess I was just a little offended by the shady sales tactic without being 100% clear as to what was occurring. I'm sure if the optometrist had introduced the sales person and explained that they would be looking to support me in selecting glasses that day should I choose to, there would not have been an issue.

Needed to get an appointment in quickly before the holiday season began and Bedford Eye Care luckily had an opening within 24 hours. I've been wearing glasses for most of my life and have been to a number of different facilities in a few different provinces. Bedford Eye Care has certainly been one of the better experiences. The staff were courteous on the phone when I was booking my appointment and needed directions as I had recently run out of data on my phone plan and have never really explored the Bedford area. When I arrived the front counter staff were just as courteous as they had been over the phone. After a short wait my appointment was on time, despite being toward the end of the day. Every part of the exam went smoothly. The technician was very thorough when asking about my medical history to make sure that everything would be addressed during the exam. Dr. Sheppard was also very thorough and addressed all of my concerns. I haven't browsed through the eyewear selection yet so I don't have any input as of yet, but I certainly will be returning for future appointments.

Over the years, for various reasons, I was referred to eye specialists, as needed. I have and would recommend Bedford Eye Care to everyone in need of expert eye care!

This place is the greatest. At my first visit I had seen two other optometrists in 12 months complaining that I could not see. 1)Dr. Shepherd heard me, 2) did thorough examinations and 3) I finally got glasses that are right for me! I have to say that the optician was the best I ever dealt with as well. At that visit Dr. Shepherd thought she could see issues on the periphery of my retina and referred me to an ophthalmologist - won't bore you with the details but it was a great catch I am getting early treatment. I cannot tell you how much I believe that this optometry practice is likely the best in the city. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Also they run an efficient, on time, practice where I felt listened to, that respected my feelings and made sure everything was expertly checked over. If I was you - I'd switch!

The service was far from what I could expect from a clinic in Bedford. The assistant who did the eye mapping exam performed the exam right away without even looking at my eye. The puff of air burst out the lump I had in the eye and made it bleed. She couldn’t care less. She suddenly realized my eye was bleeding and offered me a tissue. I was so surprised that I talked to my family doctor who confirmed that it’s always safer to check the eyes before such a test. I was referred to the VG Hospital for something, that the ophthalmologist at the hospital said, is very common. When I arrived, the hospital did not have my file. Very disappointing. Waste of time and money...

This is campany has no right to charge people who are over 65 years old , for just a full eye exam every 2 years . This is with Out the OCT eye test. I am 68 yrs old and haven't had eye exam since 2017 . But was changed $ 79 dallors . Let me brake this bill down. Full eye exam $158..00. ? Msi covers $ 86.00 Balanced $ 72.00 ?? What is $ 72.00 for ???? I call MSI they say No Charge ! They say No charge for a full eye exam ! Stop Gouging Seniors !

I brought my daughter in to have her eyes checked, She is autistic and is really sensitive to bright lights, loud noises, eye contact and busy places. It can take her a while to calm enough to get her to let you near her but if you talk to her and let her check out the instruments and explain what they do, she will let you (patience is necessary). I actually said you may need to do it at slower time. I explained all of this on the phone when booking the apt. We got there for our apt. and it was crazy busy. We were rushed in and it did not go well, the tech seemed rushed and annoyed that my daughter was having a hard time with the bright light shining in her eyes and was scared. Needless to say, we were told that we couldn't finish the appointment and would have to reschedule and come back. I think that your staff needs some training on how to work with special needs people and maybe some sensitivity training to ensure they have as good an experience as everyone else.

Disappointed. On three separate occasions the front desk staff scheduling appointments have missed the mark with regards to customer service. Appointments have been booked at times that I specifically requested to avoid. Another time I was running late due to a traffic accident (and called ahead and confirmed I should still come in) and have been turned away at the desk. Tired of getting the run around from this office. Will be taking my business elsewhere.

I can't say enough about the wonderful team at Bedford Eye Care. After two eye surgeries, I had a number of follow up appointments, so I was at the office often. They provided an excellent patient experience each and every visit - the staff was always welcoming and very efficient. I never waited in the waiting area long (but they have free coffee, so I could have!) Dr. Matthews was fantastic for all of the pre and post-op support I needed, answering any and all of my questions throughout the process.

We are old client's of Bedford Eye Care, but were mightily impressed with the new facilities on Duke Street. Freed from the limits of Sunnyside Mall, the Doctors and Staff were able to organize purpose-built spaces for all their procedures, so the visit went even more smoothly than normal. The level of patient centered care this female managed Team provides is extraordinary. They share what they find and relate it back to both your eye and general health. By investing in front edge testing equipment they provide early warning of eye issues and ensure prompt treatment. We would recommend this practice to anyone seeking consistently high quality eye care.

Our family has been going to Bedford Eye Care for more than a decade and we have always been pleased with the service. They have reacted quickly the few times when we needed urgent eye care and have worked with us when the kids damaged or destroyed their glasses (too many times!). If you are shopping for glasses on price only there are cheaper options out there, but we feel that Bedford Eye Care is a good value, and the best overall option, particularly for the kids.

I love Bedford Eye Care. I began taking my family there and everyone was so friendly, I ended up becoming friends with many of them. I send anyone I know there with confidence that they will be treated with respect and kindness. I had issues with rosacea in my eyes and they had the only treatment in Nova Scotia to clear it up. It's been gone for many years since the treatment. They even worked hard on designing a special set of glasses for me with my ray ban frames with a gradiated colour. It took months and many trials because I was incredibly fussy about them and they continued until I got exactly what I wanted. I love that they go out of their way to make any of your eye accessories so that you can have your own unique signature glasses. I get compliments all the time on them and tell them it's all bedford eye care!

I have been going to Bedford Eye Care since I was a young child and have continued to go out of habit. They have now moved into a fancier, high-tech state of the art facility, which is dazzling for many - but for me, doesn't really need to be. I am wary of extra costs being charged by this office. For example, they are really pushing the "opto map" which will give them an in-depth look at your retinas, look for potential health issues, etc. However they will not warn you before taking the opto map photos that this is an extra 80+ dollar charge that they will add to your bill! And the best part of the appointment is that they don't even take the time to go through the opto map photos with you and explain what is going on. So you don't even know if they actually looked at these things. It is a money maker for sure, I know it will help some people but what bothers me the most is that they just sneak it into your appointment as part of the regular "pre-testing" that they do for you. They don't ask you if you're interested in paying for this additional test, they just do it and add it to your bill! So watch out for that, they will sneak it in on you. In addition, I was told that the price of buying contacts from them was comparable to other places for ordering contacts. Not really the case, they are grossly overpriced, at least for the ones that I use. They quoted me $259 for a 3 month supply, whereas Costco is charging $119 for the EXACT same thing. So, if you don't need shiny bells and whistles with your regular eye exam, I would not recommend coming here. You will end up spending more than double (or more) for the same end result!! I suppose they need to pay for the fancy equipment somehow right?

Very disappoint went to this place and FYI and told them my eyes are bothering me and all they say is your perscription is low almost where u don’t need glasses well I took it appon myself to ask else where for prescription lower and guess what tgere fantastic. They are great. Nice have glasses to help with the strain.
