I had a wonderful experience. The person at the desk was polite and very professional. Same for the lady who made my first eyes tests. When I stepped in Dr SHIN's office for further tests, I was warmly welcomed. I was happy to see that he was not just a doctor but a human being who truly care about you. And most of all he's creating an atmosphere free of stress. He explained me clearly and simply what was my condition and what was the next steps. And he listened and answered all my questions with patience and kindness. No, I'm not getting paid for that review. :) I'm just a patient who had a wonderful experience and who definitely recommend Dr. John SHIN.

Shockingly, Dr. Shin did not wear a face covering nor face mask during the appointment he had with my mother, which violates Ontario's current COVID-19 measures. It is unsafe and although my mother expressed her discomfort, the doctor cut her off with a "shush". Fortunately, the appointment was brief due to the doctor's unwillingness to elaborate on her health condition. In addition, during the long wait time for the appointment, we noticed that he treats patients from a different ethic background more respectfully with courteous bows. We felt discriminated because of the inequitable treatment he was providing us. Overall, our experience with this doctor was very poor.

My mom’s eyes were hurting and she needed a new prescription so she called the office they said they need a referral so my family doctor gave one. So she went yesterday they o we have not seen you in 4 years come back tomorrow with 90$ So she went today morning for the appointment They did 2 test by the secretary and said come back in 3 month then she asked the secretary what is my new prescription and what can I do for my ice hurting she’s a doctor will talk to you and when going to the doctors room he said thank you by my secretary will tell you the rest that’s all she did and they charge $90 for all this today they have done this so many time even to me Do not go hear they just charge you for unnecessary stuff and say everything is OK after

Dr was good , he gave clear explanation of my son’s problem . Suggested corrective measures and proactively suggested follow up appointment. Happy with the time he spent on understanding the patients history . Overall experience was good , I would recommend dr John Shin .

I have just come from my eye appointment with Dr. Shin and as always it was a pleasant experience, from the friendly secretary who greeted me, to the technician who performed the tests. Both ladies were masked, as was Dr. Shin. Air purifiers were running in his office. Thorough anti-covid precautions were in place. Dr. Shin has been my eye doctor for many years and due to some recent changes, he has been monitoring my eye health more frequently. He is a fine person, very personable and an excellent physician. He updates me if if there are any changes. I never hesitate to recommend him to people.

Worst doctor ever. Booked appointment for 10:30, Doctor came to the office after 11:30 started seeing patients. The triage room was very small, the doctor did not even wear his mask saying he had fans in the room. Then no explanation was provided about the eye condition after the 1 minute exam. Overall spent 2 hrs still no result was provided. Was asked to come back for another test. Save your time.

Dr Shin has been my ophthalmologist for many many years . He is very thorough and detailed as well as being a caring professional. He has always made me feel completely comfortable. If I have any concerns or issues regarding my eyes I know that I can call always call him and see him fairly promptly. His assistants are great too always friendly and efficient. Everyone was wearing a face mask and air purifiers are running constantly. Social distancing is practised at all times and all patients are masked as well.

Dr. Shin is amazing specialist. He helped me with my eyes problem. Recently I had noticed that my sight was getting worse and he did all the necessary examination. Dr. Shin is kind, knowledgeable in his field, listens to your concerns and the most important offers solution to your problem. Higly recommend.

Mostly I see Dr. Shin for monitoring purposes. He checks for changes and assigns remedial measures, and pros and cons for treatments are discussed and assessed. It is nice to have a doctor so attuned to my condition.

I would like to recommend Dr.Shin to everyone who are looking for eye specialist for a long term care :) He is very nice and trying to explain to everyone as much as he could if it's necessary. He even draws on the paper to explain what's happening back of the eyes. Very friendly and knowledgeable!!! Highly recommend!!

I had been informed of the $100 fee for OCT/VF test only after I took the exams. The doctor sat with me and told me that he will only review my exam results if I pay. I said that's fine and told him I will pay. He then took a couple notes, not sharing any of the exam results in detail with me, and within 2 minutes our consultation ended. All he told me was that my results were in normal range. That's it. After I waited 2 hours to meet with him despite my prescheduled appointment, and after I was asked to pay for the exam I never received any feedback on, he told me to leave since he had other patients waiting. I have been seeing him every few months for the past 2 years as he wanted to watch my elevated IOP. If results came back normal, he needs to at least inform me of the progress we have been seeing throughout my visits. I asked him for the exam results and his notes on paper so that at least I can take it home and review it myself or ask my family doctor about it. He charged me additional $15 but refused to print it for me on the spot for whatever reason I don't understand. I asked for it to be emailed to me in that case. He refused once again and told me he can only fax it to me. Who has a personal fax machine at home? I asked him to then fax it to my family doctor's office. He said he will do that, but over a week passed and my family doctor's office did not receive anything. I need to follow up again. Oh, and did I mention family doctor's office charges $25 for any medical notes also? So now I paid $15 at the opthamologist office for nothing. He should not have charged me if he was going to fax it to my family doctor's office and could not accommodate any of the other document delivery method. Super disappointed at the level of courtesy and common respect for patients at Dr. Shin's office.
