As a first-time father who has never, in the course of his life, had to wear corrective eye-wear, hearing that my precious two-year old baby girl would need glasses hit me a little harder than I would have expected. Singularly ill equipped to deal with such a situation, I looked to find help and advice wherever I could and found that there was a surprising lack of assistance out there. After visiting with specialists and more than a handful of opticians with disastrous results and staff who seemed more intent on selling us something than genuinely trying to help, I was in a right state of discouragement. That is when I happened on Lynn Valley Optometry. From the moment we walked in the doors, I knew something was different. Although my little girl burst into tears at the mere thought of another optician, there was something calming about the environment and something different about the way the staff looked over at us. Within moments, we were approached by Krista who immediately spoke to my daughter as a person, allowing her to feel comfortable and play with the various samples, taking the time to earn her trust before trying anything on her. This process takes time and precious few people embody the patience and empathy required – something Krista had in spades. In the end, my daughter sat happily munching on a chocolate treat while we put the final touches on the order for her new glasses. It was only when we got up to leave that we noticed the time. Krista and the rest of the staff had, without complaint or the slightest impatience, had kept the office open well after closing time so that we could work everything out. I was amazed – most opticians had tried to rush us out the door as quickly as possible after separating us from our money, but not here. It occurs to me that it is often the little things that make the largest differences in this world. By taking the time to get to know us and to help us find the perfect pair of glasses for our daughter, Krista and the staff at Lynn Valley Optometry have brought a smile back to the face of a beautiful baby girl and have made the proud to be wearing her new glasses. Moreover, they have eased our anxiety as parents and continue to help us understand what is going on with our daughter’s vision.

First time trying this place out, quite happy here, my appointment was on time, hate having to wait. Met with Dr. Sodhi, he did a good job of keeping the appointment entertaining enough, so i didn't fall asleep while he did his checks. Then I met with some sales associates who helped me select my frames, i usually have a really hard time selecting frames for my face. I found the associate helping me Zahaaid i think his name was to be very good, he was able to quickly select frames that i liked, I made my selection and i was out the door. Overall a good experience.

I’ve been going here for many years and let me just say they are ahead of other optometrists. Here, I got access to overnight contacts and it has helped prevent my vision from declining and the staff that had helped me were very kind and welcoming. The place is very welcoming and it features some free things to snack on and some coffee. My one complaint is that the prices are very high.

I've been coming to Lynn Valley Optometry for many years. Even after leaving the north shore, I make the trip to ensure I'm in the trusted care of Dr. Shajani and his team. Everyone from the front desk, to the technicians and the doctors are kind, attentive, and total professionals. Recently, they really went above and beyond. My prescription had changed significantly, and I was having a difficult time adjusting to my new glasses and contacts. I came back three times (slightly sheepish, as I don't want to be one of "those" patients haha). All of the people here are very lovely and helpful. It has been 3 weeks though since I ordered my glasses and I am still waiting. In my opinion, that is a very long time since my prescription changed and I need them to look at my computer all day. Update: They were very apologetic about the glasses taking so long and gave me a $50 gift certificate. So although I was a bit annoyed, that definitely makes me happy and I will be going back there. They have a very stylish collection of glasses.

I am extremely unimpressed with Lynn Valley Optometry. I called Jan 5rd 2019 to make an eye exam appointment and was booked for Feb 9th. Getting close to my appointment date they called and changed my date to March 3rd and l confirmed that was ok. Come March 3rd l drove an hour through traffic to make my appointment that they gave me and confirmed with me to find out that the receptionist accidentally canceled my appointment. I can't believe that l had to book 2 months ahead and spend 2 hours driving through traffic to be this disappointed.

Outstanding service. Had an eye exam performed by an opthalmologist elsewhere with recommendations for a pair of progressives, but the lenses were frankly unusable. I came to Lynn Valley Optometry to sort it out, as my daughter goes there for VST, and I'm glad I did. Dr Shajani redid my refraction exam and came up with a different prescription - the right one. He also listened to my particular needs for a set of office glasses (I work with multiple monitors at a longer focal distance than most folk) and those are fantastic. Eye-strain is much reduced, and I am happier; that pair of glasses is worth every penny. The staff listened to what I wanted from my glasses, helped me pick out the right frames from a great selection, and had the experience and knowledge to make everything work. I also got a usable prescription - you'll need to drag me kicking and yelling to go anywhere else for my eye care from now on.

Gordon Gekko would be proud! I don't write reviews (no, really!), but my most recent experiences at this practice have left me feeling really quite queasy. In a nutshell there's a distinct gap between a patient's expectation of how a healthcare professional and practice should care for their patients and their sales processes (sorry, I mean "patient care"). I booked in for a Dry Eye Bootcamp as a brand new patient. On arrival I was asked if I wanted to do some extra test to screen for some sort of vitamin deficiency (not related to my condition), at an extra cost of course. Straight off the bat, I was left feeling like something didn't sit right with this place. It was a test I've never even heard of, about a condition I've never heard of and was dubious about its utility or even if it's approved or recommended by Health Canada. First and foremost, recommending and up-selling a test you've never heard of and tapping into the "fear" that you might need it, is a huge red flag. Plain and simple. All this within the first few minutes. I thought I'd persevere with this place against my better judgement. The exam itself was fine if a little rushed. The real red flags started when I was sat down after my appointment with a sales associate only to be bombarded with a ton of dry eye products to buy without any real reasons around why they were good for me. Run for the door after your appointment if you can or prepare to open your wallet. Then, about the dry eye wipes I bought, I got a dud box, which they did exchange without fuss (okay so I thought "great" they're redeeming themselves). They did so, as they had a notification from the manufacturer of a dodgy batch. Unfortunately it then happened again with a subsequent box. I was refunded only this time as they claimed that I was making up that it was another defective box and every other box would be the same. Astonishingly, my daily business is not to go around Vancouver returning boxes of dry eye eyelid wipes I deem to be unacceptable. The wipes were unusable so I did not agree with this position at all. I didn't force the issue with the manager who was quite civil but no more, as well, you can already read, I've lost count of the red flags by now. I had already checked-out. I am appreciative that there are humans on the other side of things, and there are always two sides to every story, and if you're reading this review you should absolutely ask this question too. I readily admit I may have been a little off myself in my demeanor in these instances, and rightly so, because I really, really, really don't like being walked through a highly regimented sales journey by healthcare professionals and not having my expectations met. Overall the staff are warm, and I imagine are just doing what they've been told to including the awkwardly scripted front desk "How may I assist you?" greeting. Guys, even Alexa and Siri go off-script sometimes! The last straw is I recently received an automated email from them which is clearly part of a concerted and orchestrated effort to win the upcoming Readers Choice Awards. If only they put as much effort into understanding their actual customers, exceeding their expectations and dialing down the up-selling, as they did with their marketing efforts to win awards. And the sad thing is these awards are usually won by the social media, marketing savvy businesses that have the slick processes and sharp tactics in place to garner votes. This place fits the profile for sure. Be human, have some empathy, understand your customer. Sell very softly, you're professionals after all and we're patients not customers! Your product is trust, and ultimately a relationship that could last a lifetime. Your product is NOT up-selling nonsense tests, botox or fad du jour. I know! Right? Lastly, always take ownership when things aren't right. It's not rocket science.

Pros: The office and set up is very nicely set up - good kids play area, very spacious, etc. The optometrists were also wonderful, very friendly. The cons: On the expensive side, after your appointment, you will be sat down with an associate who will push you towards glasses and options that run several hundred dollars. Probably good for most of their clientele, but this made me uncomfortable. My insurance provider pays for eye exams every 2 years. This is fairly standard. Lynn Valley Optometry automatically books you in at 1 year, and you then have to cancel this appointment. Another pushy tactic, especially since their cost for a check-up is much higher than other optometrists. Recently, I needed a new pair of glasses as my previous ones were getting banged up (don't let your kids play with your glasses!). I ordered online from a company that I have used in the past. The company called the optometry office and asked for my prescription, which they were told was up to date; however, LVO said they needed my permission to release this information (hmm, this didn't happen when my sister ordered hers, but she has a different doctor...). So I called and asked for them to fax my prescripttion to the glasses company, to which she replied that she would do this straight away. Two weeks go by, and I contact the glasses company. They haven't received anything. So I drive to LVO, go in and ask for my prescription. The woman who does so was quite terse with me, and told me that my prescription had expired one year after my last appointment (remember, I can only get an appointment every 2 years with my insurance), asked if I still wanted it, and then wrote a huge "expired" across the bottom of the page as she hands it to me. This might be their policy, but it hadn't been mentioned to the glasses company, or to me on the phone before. Standard practice seems to be that your prescription for glasses should be valid for 2 years. So Lynn Valley Optometry, no, I am no longer buying my glasses online because I can't get my glasses now even after paying a higher rate for my eye exam 1.5 years ago. I will have to wait until I can get a new exam done. However, I am quite tired of these marketing tactics with LVO and will be returning to my optometrist in Vancouver, along with my entire family. Update (a month or so later): I've given LVO one more star back. They noticed my review here, and did call to offer me my prescription. A little late, but in keeping with their general niceties.

I did not have a good experience with the sales staff here. I wasn't given any information about how glasses should feel or fit, I was steered towards expensive frames, and felt as though I was being rushed. Ultimately I chose glasses that were too big. I went back to the store the following Monday to talk to staff about the glasses (there was also a wonky lens issue) and waited 45 minutes. Finally I told the receptionist that I had to go back to work and asked to book an appointment instead. I booked for the end of that week. When i went back for my appointment on the Friday, they retested my eyes and offered to find a pair of glasses that fit me better. I was seated at a desk with some glasses on a tray. The glasses that I had originally bought and paid for were $335 (on sale for $268). I was being shown cheaper alternatives, but was unaware of this at the time. I chose a set of frames, again feeling like I was being rushed, and left. More than two months after I originally went to LV Optometry to buy glasses I now have a pair of junior sized frames that are too small for my face and cost half of what I paid to the clinic. I did not find this experience helpful or positive. The exam is more expensive than most clinics, they don't print your prescription on your receipt, they upsell specialty lenses and expensive brands without asking what the budget is first. At the end of it all I'm stuck with a pair of glasses that I paid $467 for (no benefits here) that fit my 9 year old daughter better than me. There are better options for price, service, and length of delivery in my opinion.

My first optometry experience was absolutely eye-opening (pun intended)! Dr. Sodhi was fantastic - professional, informative, and made what I could see being a nerve racking experience extremely easy for me. I had no idea that my sight had deteriorated as much as it had, and since being fitted for a pair of glasses at Lynn Valley Optometry, not only can I see better but my eyes actually feel better too. I will definitely be trusting Dr. Sodhi with all my eye care needs!

My wife speaks highly of them, but they don't do any contact lens stuff on Saturdays (only during the week) which makes them pretty useless for me. It's a shame. Edit: upgraded because I've since visited them (on a Saturday - they do Saturday's now but make sure you phone ahead because sat appointments are popular), and they were great.

I hadn’t been for an eye exam for longer than I could remember. After being referred to Dr. Sodhi by one of my clients I figured I would take my son (9yrs old) on a field trip to Lynn Valley so we could both get a once over last Saturday afternoon, exciting right? Well, lets just say we were both stoked on our experience. Very organized with their Covid protocols, friendly staff, amazing showroom and all the equipment used seems like its from the future. (says the guy who never goes to the doctor) Long story short, you are doing yourself a dis-service if you don’t let Dr. Sodhi and his team handle you optic needs. 6 stars ⭐️!

After ignoring getting contacts for several years due to previous clinics not taking the time to make sure I found a pair that worked for me, I figured contacts just weren't an option for me. I'm incredibly thankful that Dr. Sodhi was recommended to me recently, game changer being able to see properly!!! I am so impressed with this clinic! We brought our young boys in for a visit, and everyone from the front desk staff to our doctor were so accommodating and friendly. I especially loved the kid-friendly room with toys etc. Dr. Sodhi made the kids feel right at home, explained everything step-by-step and was clear, thorough, and personable. I have only positive things to say about this clinic! The entire staff makes me feel comfortable, heard, and extremely well cared for every time. Dr. Madan is basically a god send. I’ve seen MANY eye doctors and specialists in the last few years for my ongoing complicated eye issues, and most of them either tell me straight away that there’s nothing they can do for me, or slowly end up giving up. It took a lot of trial and error to finally lead me to Dr. Madan. I am grateful for her expertise and vast knowledge (especially on modern-day eye diseases), her access to equipment and treatments that I haven’t seen anywhere else, and most of all her genuine interest and determination to help her patients!

Amazing Exceptional Customer Service! From the phone appointment to having my eyes exam and help for selecting the right frame for me. I was impressed how I was looked after during this Covid time how I was made to feel safe taking safety precautious measures.Also with a friendly team of staff working together to to create a family feel with Professionalism to finish up. i took my daughter in for a eye exam to get new contacts. They did the eye exam and then told us we had to come back on Monday to do the contact fitting because that was when their "fitter" was in. Ended up leaving with a glasses prescription and turns out that they prescribed a 13 year old girl progressive lenses. so unknowingly we get the glasses prescription filled for $200 dollar progressive lenses and my daughter can't see a thing. She says" dad the walls look wobbley". the eye exam was $110 dollars and that didn't include the contact fitting fee which she already wears contacts when we walked in the door. we ended up going to a eye place in burnaby- redoing everything and the optometrist was like" who gives a 13 year old a prescription for bifocals? she doesn't need them." so in short, what a waste of time/money.

Great first experience here. Everyone was very friendly and professional, and accommodating to my 2.5 month old I had to bring along (freeing up a room so I could nurse him when he wouldn't settle was amazing!). During my contact fitting a new style of contacts was suggested that are so far working superbly! Dr. Brassil was excellent as well. 5 stars for service, exam, and contacts. Their glasses seem very expensive though, the only negative.

Very poor customer service. They charged me over $700 for a pair of reading glasses. After one week I got a call saying that they made a mistake in my glasses lenses and asked me to take it back there. Considering my work in Burnaby and my home downtown Vancouver, it was not easy to commute to Lynn Valley. Anyway, new lenses came and they told it may take up to an hour to replace them. One day, I took two hours off and went there around five, but they could not finish it by 6; So I had to take my glasses with old lenses back as I needed them. They even did not accept shipping those to my on their cost. After receiving a few calls from them asking me to take my glasses there to replace the lenses, I asked my business partner who had an appointment there to take my glasses and have them fixed. I was expecting not more than an hour or two, but my partner was told it might take two or three days. I just called them to find out what was going on the person over the phone could not even find where my glasses are; she was supposed to call me back. I’m really upset with them and will never refer them to a friend.

My eyes were SO dry! I’ve seen so many doctors and I met this gem who really utilizes all aspects available for dry eye therapy. Dr. Madan suggested PRP eye drops which are made from my own blood to help heal my dry eyes. I found the drops very helpful. My eyes more comfortable now and they don’t feel as gritty. You’ll love her.

Very rarely am I so impressed by customer service that I'm motivated enough to write a positive review, but this is the case with Lynn Valley Optometry. I agree with other reviewers that the staff are polite, professional and friendly. The COVID-19 safety measures in place were reassuring. Furthermore, they acknowledged the delay of my glasses in an exceptionally courteous way. I would definitely recommend this clinic.

The entire staff from Lynn Valley is absolutely top notch - from getting greeted at the door to Dr. Sodhi talking me through my options, making sure I understood the doctor/patient lingo every step of the way. I took a little longer to choose my frames but I never once felt rushed by the staff to do so. I dont leave reviews often, however I HIGHLY recommend going to this place. So far I have refered several of my friends/family and they have all shared a similar experience as I did. 10/10 I wont be going anywhere else.

Booked my annual eye exam at Lynn Valley Optometry and I couldn't have had a better experience. For starters, the health and safety protocols in place are top tier and should be mirrored by other businesses. The staff were attentive and prompt from beginning to end. The tech who walked me through all my preliminary tests was thorough and explained in detail the how's and why's of every step. Dr. Sodhi is extremely personable, he makes you feel comfortable the moment he steps into the room. He communicated clearly and answered all my questions, never making me feel like he was in a rush. The word 'exam' isn't one I would normally be thrilled about, but after my experience in their office I can't wait until I can visit them again...maybe to peruse their extensive frame selection? 5/5!

They took twice as much time as they said they would take to make my girl friend's glasses. Also each time we called to see where her glasses were they told us "they had just gotten them in & it'll take a week longer," they said this 3 times so they were obviously repeatedly lying.

Took my 7 year old here for a routine eye exam, which are typically covered for kids in BC under 19. I did not find out until after that this clinic charges a $70.00 charge on top of what`s covered. When questioned, its due to their advanced techniques. Seems like something they should point out before the exam. I called 3 other north shore clinics, all said they don`t charge for kids. Im sure this is a great place, but the fact they charge 3 x the provincial average, a bit much. Won`t go again.
