My daughter and I have been privileged to be a patient of Dr. Sarah Hutchens since 2016. Dr. Hutchens is very professional, caring and personable towards all her patients. The staff at The Vision Development Centre and Dr. Hutchens treat you with the very best care, they explain everything well and offer advice for taking care of all your eye care needs. My daughter began Vision Therapy with Dr. Hutchens in 2017 and with all of us working together my daughter showed big improvements in her reading and writing skills as her eyes were now working better together. Her spatial perception greatly improved but most importantly her self confidence and motivation to learn had been boosted due to her work in Vision Therapy. When friends, family and parents of my students ask me 'Who would I recommend for their eye care?' It is an easy answer for me, Dr. Sarah Hutchens and the staff at The Vision Development Centre. Our little 4 yo joined our family in the fall of 2020. His wandering eyes (his right was far worse then his left) were very obvious and of great concern to us. Our family optometrist referred us immediately to Dr. Sarah Hutchens, he reassured us that if anyone could address his eye health it was her! Our first visit was close to 2 hours, she used every trick in her tool box to observe and assess his vision challenges, all the while making it interesting and fun for him. She explained everything she was doing and what it meant. At the end of the appointment, we left with a prescription for bifocals! We got the prescription filled as quickly as possible. Our son was delighted and so cute in the frames he picked out. When he said Mommy I can see better, my eyes were filled with tears of joy! There was an almost immediate shift in his eye alignment (for the better) so much so that I sent a photo with Dr. Sarah to share in our excitement and express our appreciation! 3 months later we are thrilled to report a 60-80% improvement!! His future looks brighter & his vision defiantly clearer! Thank you, Dr. Sarah!

We've been seeing Dr Hutchens for my son's eye turn since he was 2 1/2 years old. He's now 5 and we've seen considerable improvement. In the early days she had to use some creative methods to complete the exams (like using fruit by the foots found in my purse to trace his eyes!) but she was always so patient and willing to try whatever we could to help. I trust her so much and know that she is truly there to help us in anyway she can to ensure the eye health and development of my children.

Dr. Hutchens is a highly competent optometrist. She provides excellent care. She gives patients her time and thoroughly answers questions. I didn’t feel rushed. Her office is welcoming and bright. The parking is accessible. The patient care coordinator Meghan was also very helpful and friendly. I give her my highest recommendation.

Both of my kids started seeing Dr. Hutchens at 8 months old. She has an incredible way of connecting with children, and has fun and creative ways of keeping their attention throughout the check up. She is thorough, knowledgeable and always happy to answer questions (especially from new parents who worry about everything!). Not to mention her clinic is bright, clean and modern and the staff are excellent! Highly recommend!

We visited Dr . Hutchens this summer with our 18 month old due to a turn in her eye. Not only was Dr Hutchens very professional and knowledgeable she was kind, patient, and great with our daughter. She took her time and explained all her assessments and what we could expect. She was extremely thorough and ensured we knew exactly what was happening all while juggling completing assessments on a very busy baby. We felt welcomed, heard, and listened to, and have a thorough planned developed. We had such a positive experience with Dr Hutchens and I would highly recommend her to anyone and especially for children. We are thankful she will be caring for our children’s vision now and into the future.

Dr Hutchens is beyond great. I have been seeing her for years and now I take my daughter to see her too (3 yo). She is wonderful with kids and has so many great ways to keep little ones engaged and happy during their exam. 10/10 recommend, especially if you’re looking for a great eye doctor for kids.

Dr. Sarah Hutchens is the most professional, caring Doctor around and has terrific bedside manner. She cares about the health of your eyes and takes time to explain things in detail. She cares about her patients and is truly genuine. She has been my eye doctor for many years and I have followed her around the city wherever she would land her profession. The only words I can say about her is that she is amazing and awesome. Her staff are exceptional as well. You feel at home from the time you arrive at the office until you leave.
