The vets are so wonderful, my dog is always excited to see them. They give a detailed report on all their findings in language that is easy to understand for non veterinarians. I trust them completely with my dog's eye health, and I'd recommend them to anyone.
Excellent experience here. Dr. King was thorough, explained everything she was doing, and was so gentle and kind with our dog, Lacey. Highly recommend.
They were great with our kitty cat❤️
Wonderful staff, and Dr. King especially. We brought our Boxer in for a grid keratotomy and Dr. King was very patient with our questions, and very thorough with explaining both the details of the procedure and the follow up care required. She is also SO nice and bubbly. I would go back without question, and recommend Dr. King to everyone.
You are here because you need to be. The most amazing doctors and staff take care of your furry or feathered friends. Hope to never come here again but if needed, it will be my first choice.
They gave my dog sight so I love them
Very caring, kind and knowledgeable vets and staff. I can tell that Dr. Keller sincerely cares about each pet she sees and she's very thoughtful and thorough with her advice.
I thought the receptionist took a bit to warm up, but was lovely when you got to chat. The Opthamologist was very knowledgeable and gentle with my little dog. She provided a very thorough report which she wrote up while I waited. It was an appointment that I did feel was worth my time because of their quality of service and attention to providing excellent care. I guess I just feel slightly cynical that after she told me my dog has a degenerating eye disorder and there is no treatment, so come back in a year so we can check it out. I know this is meant well, but I spent over $200 to confirm my dog has vision problems (which I knew) and ensure she isn’t suffering. Now I know the name of the condition. Just don’t think I want to spend another bunch of money to find out that she sees less than she did the year before.
Dr. Keller was very kind and thorough in the examination of our 4.5 month puppy's eyes. She very quickly gained our confidence in the care of our puppy. Thank you for the awesome service.
Place is horrible will cost you 200$ just for initial consult even if they only tell you exactly what a vet could tell u for a fraction of the cost and terrible service
Despite some of the negative reviews on Yelp, my personal experience could not have gone any better. The entire team was so friendly and understanding and there's a very good chance that my two year old cat may have lost his eye had they not been able to squeeze me in for an appointment on New Years Eve. If I could take my cat to Dr. King for his regular check-ups; I would and I thank all of the staff from the bottom of my heart.
Dr.s and reception are amazing. They have done a wonderful job keeping our special little dogs eyes healthy
Fantastic staff ????
????
The staff was very rude and arrogant. Complete rip off too! I came in for an eye check for the litter of puppies - so it was a handful to manage. They never bothered to help as little as to help open the door when i was coming in carrying the little ones. I also came in 24 minutes before my appointment time (they recommend 30 minutes to get the pupils dilated), and the receptionist scolded me that I was late, and they made me wait another 50 minutes. I also needed one short check for the adult dog - one thing checked out of a dozen that are done on a complete one. They charged full fee for not even 2 minutes of work! Avoid this place like a plague! If you have a chance to go elsewhere - do so!
Great staff, excellent diagnosis. I have confidence in their diagnosis and care.
Very nice and friendly. My cat has an eye injury and they are doing great with it
Dr. King has been amazing with my Pekingese. I don’t know what people are talking about - rude staff? They’ve been nothing but sweet and professional. Maybe someone just had an off day. We are all human.
We can't say enough good things about the team here. Our cat went to them with a corneal ulcer and needed surgery. From the first visit to recovery, Dr. King and her team have been so wonderful. They're professional, patient with all my questions ( I have a lot) they love our little guy as much as we do and make us feel safe and comfortable with what they're doing. We're very grateful for you all. Hodor is in good hands.
Amazing Veterinarians wouldn’t go anywhere else
The receptionist is rude and unprofessional. We called to ask if it would be possible to schedule an appointment for our dog who has a retinal tear. Instead of answering our questions of nearest appointment availability, she refused to give any information and merely said "This is a decision you have to make" without giving us any information regarding appointment availability to base a decision off of. She was insulting and should not be interacting with people at all.
Dr. King is the best! She has been treating our kitten for an eye problem on and off this year. Always so friendly, our kitty seems to like her (though we are not allowed to accompany into the exam due to COVID), very quick and thorough and great reports sent to us after each visit. The vet tech we see each time too is lovely. Thank you for the great care of our fur babies!
Very knowledgeable, very friendly
We have been coming here for many years and I have to say they always are so kind and professional. With Covid our last two visits have been with me not going in which I think can cause owners stress but no one can help this. They have a system set up that is so efficient that there really isn’t any waiting and I think this is less stressful for dogs to not be in the waiting room.Very thankful for the vets and stuff keep up the great work
Very good experience after referral from our vet. Thorough follow ups and helpful with all the questions we had regarding surgery options.
Dr. Keller is a compassionate, highly competent vet who likely saved my dog’s life. Dog isn’t the right word—she’s more like a family member. My elderly dog safely came through two successful surgeries under Dr. Keller’s care. We are thankful.
Having been to some great vets you have to look at these people as true experts in cat dog vision.. If you have any optical problems get a referral they are the best.. And lovely people too
Fast and very informative!
Only positive experiences - My dog had a juvenile cataract and now he has his vision back. Very friendly staff and informative Doctors and Technicians :)
Dr. Keller is a superb eye specialist. She helped my cat recover from a serious cornea infection and showed kindness and respect to both myself and my cat throughout the treatments and appointments. I recommend her and the other doctors highly. Her receptionist is also very nice and helpful, which makes the experience a good one all around.
Your receptionist is extremely rude. She shows absolutely no empathy for people who are concerned about their loved pets. I have decided to move to a different specialist solely for this reason. I will be suggesting the same to everyone in my community/circle. Retraining is a must for this rude person.
We've seen Dr. King on several occasions and feel that she's a great eye specialist. She's very kind, patient and you can tell she loves dogs. Her receptionist Lori is also great.
Closed. Christmas Day.
We received extremely professional treatment from the Doctors and staff. The after care instructions were well done and easy to follow. It is a pleasure to watch Buddy jump up onto the sofa, onto the bed and walk up and down stairs. These are things he has not done since he lost his sight. Sincere thanks. Cec & Shirley & Buddy
An obscure specialist service. Great service and reasonable prices.
Clean facility, very very friendly and knowledgable staff
They saved my puppy’s eyesight and have continued to help me help her work her frequent ulcers. If it wasn’t for them I’m sure my little girl wouldn’t have made it this far with her vision. I’m very grateful for them.
Extremely caring very professional staff
Complete waste of time and money. My pets eyes were actually much worse less than 24 hrs after our visit despite Dr. Kerr saying her eyes were "fully healed". Vet was stumped and couldn't provide any explanation as to what was going with her.
Updated added on February 24th 2019. After Wink’s successful cataract surgery she ran into a small trailer hitch. This resulted in her horribly gouging her eye in early January 2019. The eye consequently quickly developed a serious infection rendering Winks (one eyed at birth) completely blind for a second time. Dr Keller and has succeeded in restoring Winks sight once again. After her accident in January we were devastated and honestly thought she would not recover her sight back a second time. She was completely blind for around three weeks before her sight slowly returned. From the first day after seeing Dr Keller again in January there was unexpected follow up on a daily basis, via phone and emails initiated by Dr Keller and Dr King asking for photos of her eye and her overall progress and well-being. They communicated not only with us but weekly with our local vet on Vancouver island in between her next visit with Dr Keller. Again we would tell anybody not to hesitate to trust these skilled and caring surgeons. We are beyond thankful for Dr Keller’s and Dr Kings skills. Below is our initial review of her cataract surgery in September 3018. Thanking you for the professional and gentle care of little Winks. All 4lbs of her. To go from blind to seeing perfectly again has been her miracle. We could tell immediately on pick up that she saw us and it only got better from there. She’s had a new lease on life and is back to being ‘The Boss’. Wink’s is a great example that old age is irrelevant. I would recommended your clinic to anyone and everyone. My own vet has said that you guys did an amazing job Shout out to Laurie on the front desk. Great job handling a very nervous ‘mom and dad’. Chris and Amanda Barre Update. And here we are February 15th 2020. She’s still doing great.....we are still in awe....AMAZING...
Nothing but a great experience dealing with these people. My dog can see! When I took him in he only had about 5% of his vision left and even that was deteriorating. We decided to get the surgery because he was still pretty young, had a lot of years left and it looked like he would spend them blind. I definitely got the feeling that they really really do care about the animals they see. They went above and beyond when I would be concerned about something and would drive over to the clinic with next to no notice or pretty much show up almost unannounced (I'm a sort of panicky person). Wonderful people, can't say enough. And other than telling someone that any surgery can result in complications and be prepared for the aftercare, I would have no problem recommending these people. They know their stuff.
They butchered our Great Danes eye and left her disfigured after we paid for 2 operations as well as extra to hire a special anesthesiologist ....all VERY VERY expensive.... to fix both inner eye lids that were protruding from our pets eyes 1 eye they did well the other was a disaster....so they said they would do it again for just the cost of the anesthesiologist (still very expensive).....BUT....after they made the 2nd mistake on the one eye they did a third operation at their cost and it was unfix able....we filed suit in New Westminster court and it came out the vet she had working for her who told us she had done over 100 of these procedures when in fact had only done 3.................during mediation (they had a lawyer)and we were told to proceed to court we would need to have a dog eye surgeon testify as too the damage...even though we had a statement from our vet who agreed with us we had spent several thousand dollars at this point and so much time....they made it impossible as the cost to bring a "dog eye specialist" in to testify that didn't work there would be again very very expensive and at this point (several months dealing with this) we had had enough...thankfully we still have our Dane she is almost 11 we are loving pet owners who would do and pay anything for our dogs health and well being......WE WOULD NOT LET THOSE BUTCHERS CARVE THE TURKEY AT OUR XMAS DINNER....and if you could find any other option I would take it....if not get everything in writing take pictures before and after document it all....you may be lucky and they may do their job....but if they don't ... DO NOT let them hurt your dog anymore.....don't expect an apology or anything else from these butchers.
Do you still come to Williams Lake priority as you did a few years ago
After discovering my cat Peetie suddenly became blind in both eyes, my vet referred me to Dr. Keller at this clinic. I was very impressed at the timing it took to accommodate Peetie on such short notice. The receptionist, Lori was extremely friendly and helpful from the moment she called me to booking the appointment and welcoming both Peetie and myself to their clinic. Dr. Keller is very knowledgeable and specializes only on your pet's eyes. She also provided me with a detailed written report after our visit which is something I wished all Vets provided. I would highly recommend this clinic if you ever encounter problems with your loving fur babies eyes.
My dog got operated on there. They were suppose to check to see if the dog was healthy enough for the surgery, vitals ect. They absolutely lied to my mother and operated on our dog. We paid a total of 6,000 for the surgery. We had found out from another ver that our dog had cancer and should have never under went surgery. The ow ner has ignored all phone calls after the fact. Lawyer has been contacted , have had enough. 1000 percent do not even consider this place.
Given the circumstances, we had a great experience with Dr. Kelly and her staff. Other Vets told me my dog needed to see a specialist and that it would take a week. I was lucky enough to find out about WCVES and had an appointment the same day! During the whole ordeal, there was a chance that my dog would need surgery and that I needed to contact WCVES after the weekend. When I called them they already had me penciled in and reserved a spot for surgery for me. Who does that? Forward thinking, smart, caring people...that's who. Our family has nothing but love and respect for WCVES. Thank you!
They were very accommodating, fast and friendly.
I called to see if my referral had been received, and if I could make an appointment. Staff member on the phone was very short with me, and came across as rude. I called my vet back and asked for someone else who specialized in optometry for dogs. I was referred elsewhere and very glad I did not follow through with Western Canada Veterinary Eye Specialists.
You can tell these doctors care very much for the animals. I brought my 16yr old boston/chihuahua and they were gentle in handling him and he came out with a very comprehensive report that I found really helpful. During COVID, you have to wait outside which is for because they have a tent for raining days.
Our family Labrador, Sampson, went blind from diabetic cataracts last year. He is seven years old and loves to hike and be in nature. Once he became blind it was no longer safe to take him on hikes or partake in some of his favorite activities and we knew that cateract removal surgery was necessary. Western Canada Veterinary Eye Specialists are the only place in BC to have the surgery performed. After reading some of the negative reviews I became very nervous to have the surgery completed and considered going to Seattle. Thankfully, I was able to connect with a vet technician who's dog had just gone through cateract removal surgery at Western Canada Vet and she was able to reassure me that her experience was a very positives one and to proceeds with the surgery. The surgery was successful and was without post operative complications. Dr. Keller and Dr. King treated us and our Sampson like we were family. Both vets were very accommodating of our questions and follow up appointments as we live on Vancouver Island. The staff of this clinic are very informative, professional and caring. I would absolutely recommend their services to anybody who is considering eye surgery for their pet. It's true that animals are remarkable and adjust well to being blind but there is nothing more heart warming than seeing the quality of life that is achieved when vision is restored. The best money we ever spent, hands down! Lastly, I think it is important to note that the negative reviews posted were from when previous vets owned this business.
Howie's good eye is 200% big thanks Dr King
I was referred here from an after hours clinic. On top of sending my referral, I left a message for them directly asking them if they could call me as soon as possible the following day as my dog required their opthamology specialist and it was urgent. It's been 2 weeks and I still haven't heard from them. Luckily I discovered VCA on 7th in Vancouver which were compassionate, professional and thorough. Obviously this place doesnt care about pets or business if this us how they treat potential customers. Go to VCA
The staff were amazing! They got my Boston in so fast after receiving the referral, knowing the issues this breed has with eyes. The staff were caring and professional. Dr. Keller was phenomenal! I have absolute confidence in the treatment plan she has set up for my little guy. I know he is in the best hands with her. As with any specialist, the cost is up there but when you consider the value for the money and the expertise you are paying for - it is worth every penny!
Our dog's eye ruptured from an ulcer and the staff and doctors here were extremely knowledgable and caring. Highly skilled and incredible bedside manner (for us as the owners :) ). I highly recommend.
Dr King is wonderful. So caring and understanding. That was the only good thing about this clinic. The rest of the staff are rude, indifferent and totally uncaring. The receptionist in particular is the worst. She has zero people skills. She doesn't greet you when you come in and provides zero compassion or information. It appears as if she doesn't like people or animals. If there was a better eye specialist I would have taken my dog there instead. Update: its been 7 months since our last visit and Ms. Personality at the front desk said Pepper needed to come back in a week. Still waiting for the follow up call from them since they said it was urgent. PLEASE don't take your dog here if you love him/her. They don't care enough to follow up and they have zero compassion.
They were great with my dog and put me at ease. My dog healed well and was all the happier for her surgery.
Excellent, courteous and professional animal eye care. They have been outstanding in caring for our Olivia's acute, and chronic eye issues. Thank you!
