I took my grandfather to the Witlin Center for a second opinion after being told he needed cataract surgery. From start to finish, our experience was outstanding. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. The doctor was very thorough and made sure my grandfather and I understood everything he was explaining to us. After our visit to the Witlin Center, we learned that my grandpa didn’t need cataract surgery as urgently as the previous physician had told us. Dr. Witlin and Dr. Worthington were very honest with us, which we appreciate greatly. With their help, my grandpa was able to avoid having to get surgery amid the pandemic and he also received guidance and support to get some relief for his symptoms. I highly recommend going here if you’re looking for honest physicians that care about your well-being!

Whitlin Eye Center almost ruined my eyes. After eight months of torture undergoing shoddy, called-in Glaucoma treatment in 2016, I escaped and went where they genuinely cared about my well being. In those eight months, Dr. Whitlen saw me once, for less than two minutes. I was shuffled off to a woman that was not even an ophthalmologist and she proceeded to put my on an extended sick trip. I ended up needing cataract surgery and my vision is currently poor all because I made the poor decision of trusting them. Steer clear of this office, you'll be glad you did.

Thanks to Dr. Hanna who is the reason I am not blind today. She found that I had narrow angles and quickly scheduled me to a a laser procedure with Dr. Desai who did an excellent job. They both worked together and gave me the best care possible. I am so grateful to both them.

Getting PRK surgery was one of the best decisions I made regarding self care! My journey started over 3 years ago when I went to visit Dr. Worthington for serious dry eye issues to the point that I could not wear contacts for an entire day. She was super friendly and wonderful bedside manner. I had follow up visits with Dr Gershenbaum who then suggested I was eligible to get PRK surgery and that would resolve my issue with wearing contacts. He explained the procedure to me. I kept in touch with the office and its staff specifically Kim Ettenhuber who gave me all the details from the surgery and what i could expect in the future. She was spot on in regards how things would go and what I could expect. I finally took the plunge this year and got the surgery done. Dr Gershenbaum performed the surgery. During the surgery he and the nurses explained everything that was going on as it was and were very concerned with my comfort. Wonderful bedside manner. I had my f/u visit with Dr. Worthington and it was a pleasure as always. Gina Marie went through the financials of the procedure and also the "what to expect" days leading up to surgery and everything happened exactly as she explained. I have had no surprises. In general, whenever I needed to be seen for an eye issue asap the office has always been very accomdating in getting me in. The office is always super clean. I can't say enough great things about this office, staff, and doctors. Thanks again!

What an amazing experience today with Dr.Hanna & the staff! My husband got a piece of metal stuck in his eye from welding and Dr.Hanna was extremely professional,gentle,& informative.Staff was able to get us an appointment very quickly & the office ran very efficiently. Dr. Richard Witlin was my cataract surgeon for both eyes this year and I am very pleased with the outcome. I opted for the laser assisted surgery and the multi-focal lens implant and now my vision is a perfect 20/20 with no complications afterwards. He is a very skilled surgeon that came highly recommended and I am thrilled at the decision to use him for my surgeries. The follow-up visits afterwards have been with Dr. Crystal Worthington and she has done an excellent job at answering my various questions. Thank you so much for restoring my vision and freeing me from the use of glasses and contacts.

Update 10/29 - I was called by Dr Worthington after she read my review on google to ask me about my experience and how she can make it better. It definitely showed that she cared about her patients and wanted to make sure everyone has a pleasant experience there. I went there again to give this office a second chance and had a much better experience than my first time. Dr Worthington went over my results and answered any questions I had. No issues on that part. However, I have to say that the front desk seems to be a bit clueless. There was a couple ahead of me who were told that their appointment was 1:30 but they had thought it was for 11:30 - Not sure where that miscommunication came from. So I definitely feel the front desk still needs more training on how to handle patients and their schedules. How pathetic is the front desk staff? I left without even meeting the doctor. I got there 5 mins late but was accused of being 20 mins late. The lady in the front desk told me she called me and I never received any call. In fact I had called their office to figure out their address since google maps didn't take me exactly to the office and no one had picked up. I was called after 20 mins of being there and then told oh you were late. Yes, I was 5 mins but not 20 mins. The office smelled like anything - seems like plumbing issues that they should get fixed or their bathrooms cleaned.

Dr. Worthington is one of the best eye car specialists that deals with keratoconus. She was went through the process for a fitting of a hard contact and did not stop until it was a perfect fit. She showed compassion and understand to the frustration of not having a hard lens as well as doing everything possible to make sure I was happy with my contact. The lens company that was used Custom Stable made some errors but she always made me feel like it would get figured. Throughout the entire process I never thought or felt like I was just another pt and that my time was not appointment. I would refer her to any family member or friend that I know. Dr. Worthington is the best at what she does and it shows in her passion to help the pt.

Today was my first visit to the Witlin Eye Center. I live at the Jersey shore, so I wasn’t thrilled about the distance. I am young for a cateract, yet I got it as a result of my retina repair surgery last year. So when I asked my retina doctor (who is in Toms River) which cataract surgeon is the best - he told me Dr. Witlin. I made the drive this morning, and I couldn’t be happier with the visit. From the moment I walked in – the staff was extremely welcoming and kind and funny. They were so helpful! They made several phone calls to verify that my insurance would cover every aspect of the procedure. They went above and beyond without me even having to ask. I completely appreciate them and what they did! The woman who did my pre-exam was extremely knowledgeable and kind as well. Then I met with Dr. Witlin. You know when you meet someone and you instantly sense that they are masterful at what they do? This was my experience with Dr. Witlin. The way he explained everything, did his examination on my eyes, and communicated with his staff – I instantly knew this man is a genius with eyes. Did I mention that he’s really nice? I knew he would have to be -because every single other person in the office was so great. Anyways, thank you to Dr. Witlin, and thank you to the entire team!! I couldn’t be more happy with my experience.

Dr Desi was great! He made me feel comfortable about the entire procedure. Dr Desi and his staff followed up with me later that day, the next day and a few days after the procedure. The location in somerset that he uses is very clean and the staff there is excellent as well. My husband was in the waiting area and they updated him to assure him that everything was going according to schedule and the procedure was going well. I am writing this review for my Aunt. She was so nervous to have cataract surgery and put it off for many years. Dr. Gershenbaum took so much time in the exam room explaining what we should expect. We than met with Kim. She was extremely patient and assuring to us. Everything was written down in a neat surgery folder for us to review. At the end of the visit we were very pleased with the experience. 3 weeks later the cataract surgery was done. Her out come was terrific. THANK YOU FOR HELPING HER SEE GREAT AGAIN!

As a patient with complicating health issues I approach every new medical situation with anxiety. Dr Desai took the time to explain how he would approach my surgery and the extra equipment he would have on hand if needed. Dr Desai also reached out to a Dr who specialized in my genetic disorder. The exam went ok. Then Dr. Witlin came in and told me about the procedure he was going to perform on my cataracts. He told me my options. He mentioned that my insurance covered a basic lens. Then he pitched a "better" lens that he would install for $2800. Once I told him I did not want the better lens his whole attitude changed for the worse. It was like he didn't want to bother with me anymore. I had the procedure with the lens covered by my insurance. Weeks after the surgery, I received a bill for $840 from the anesthesia. I was never told that this was not covered. I am on a fixed income and not able to afford this amount. Now the anesthesia is taking action to collect. Even though I had the procedure there I was never comfortable with this office. I have gone back for a followup because they did the procedure. When my other cataract is needed to be done, I will be going elsewhere.
