I have been a customer of Selkirk eyecare since arriving in Nelson 12 years ago. I get my eye testing, prescription glasses and prescription safety glasses from them. I work in a dangerous environment for eye..(welding) So when I broke the frames on my prescription safety glasses I called to get a new pair . They said they cannot get me in for 3 months and when I asked about getting in earlier I was told if it was an emergency they could get me in right away. But if i went to work and suffered an eye injury then they would get me in?? if it was an emergency? $$$

I’ve always had a positive experience for exams, I've seen a few of the doctors here. I've purchased both driving prescription glasses and sunglasses here - the staff was helpful and knowledgable about how I can customize my glasses and they took the time to help me sort out my school's coverage for the glasses.

I would give them one star. Worst sevice i got at their store. Overcharging for random lenses by saying they are from rayban and keep on delaying the things. It took them 2 months to do my sunglasses and still they failed to do their job properly. Their staff keep on calling me after 2 weeks of ordering the sunglasses ,to ask about colour of lenses and shape of frame because she is not sure what i ordered and at the end she ended up making something else. I wouldnt suggest anybody this store. Save your money and try other stores in nelson.

Fantastic service. Came in yesterday with broken dental loupes. Was able to be seen on the day. Lab technician - whose name I did not get - was very professional and patient. Could not be happier

Excellent Eyecare! The staff are amazing and knowledgable. I also found the most gorgeous frames in this store- they have loads of styles to choose from! Did I mention the staff are wonderful?! I've been in a couple times to adjust my frames since purchase and they are always happy to help. They truly care about their customers. 6 stars outta 5.

I have had the privilege of being an employee at Selkirk Eyecare for a few months now. Each and every staff member cares for not only their employees, but their patients in a great way. Every team member has been extremely welcoming, loving and supportive to me from the start. They treat each other like family. They take the time to explain in great detail how their products/ exams work. Anytime myself or a customer needs assistance, someone is always there with a smile on their face- ready to lend a hand. The doctors are very thorough and put a great amount of effort and love into their job. I could not ask, nor imagine a better work environment. They have treated me with the up most respect and love, it has felt like a second family from day one. If you have an opportunity to attend Selkirk Eyecare you will without a doubt be in great care.

Finding the perfect pair of frames is challenging. This time it was easy. The staff at Selkirk Eyecare went the extra mile and brought in other colours for me to look at to help me choose. And within a week I had exactly what I wanted and had fun in the process. Way to keep me loyal!

Found reception and ophthalmologist('s) a little rude, and it seemed as though staff were trying to convince my disabled father to sign and book an additional appointment for something he didn't need and was tested for. He doesn't go here anymore. I don't want anyone to lose their job, and perhaps it was a misunderstanding, all I know is how I perceived us being treated, as if we were stupid? Never had any issues when I was young and got my regular check-ups. Hope this issue is rectified.

While I have had great service from the optometrist and staff in the past my biggest complaint and I say this regarding all eyeglass shops in Nelson B.C. is the service hours. I work business hours and not always in and out of the city. Yet at 5 pm when I get off all I see a store for eyeglasses that are essential for my job so I can drive all closed. In essence how is it all the eyeglass shops in the city close the same time a majority of clients get off work? If at least on a Wednesday and Thursday they could stay open to 6/6:30 would be great for us working class schmoes to be able to get to a service for prescription eyewear would be great. Otherwise I have to take it out of my weekend for a service. I understand the clinic hours being business hours but why not the front retail side for ordering new glasses. Since my time to purchase new glasses is not covered under my employer plan.

I’ve been a client of Selkirk Eyecare and Dr. Proctor for about 10 years. The service they’ve provided has been excellent. The staff calls me for appointment reminders, appointments are available on weekdays and weekends, and Dr. Proctor is professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, and he communicates clearly. The front staff have helped me find glasses that fit my face properly and Selkirk Eyecare’s in-house service provides exceptionally fast services. I highly recommend!

Excellent doctor! 5 stars for her! Rotten service at front desk! Came out to fill prescription and pick out new glasses and was first told that my exam was not covered. I said this is School Board plan and I was covered no problem two years ago and I know I am covered and please check again but she didn’t and she didn’t even bother to get up from desk to come and help me pick out glasses. So frustrated I paid the bill, took my prescription and went home. Immediately I checked with Pacific Blue Cross and was 100% covered up to $100. Just like two years ago when I was at your very place of business. Now I know why people take the time to struggle with on-line purchasing because it’s no different then dealing with people who can’t admit they made a mistake and try again. Oh well you lose, my $350.00 coverage for glasses over and above the exam which I now have to submit for payment, will go to a more deserving Eyecare dispenser shop.

Terrible service from both the front desk staff and the optometrist. Unhelpful, rushed me through my exam and did not explain anything even though I asked clarifying questions. It was clear that the optometrist just wanted to get the exam over with as it was the end of the day. Do not recommend this business, there are so many other eyeglass stores and optometrists who are skilled and friendly.
