I had a scare and Dr Mandell went out of his way to make time for an exam as fast as possible. He explained what his opinion well. He also took my opinions seriously and helped me understand which ones were valid, which ones were not and why.

I have been to a few eye doctors in Mississauga in the last few years . Some of them are just OK and some are horrible like the OCC eyecare on Sismet Rd, Mississauga, which is the worst Eyecare centre I have seen in my life. With Mississauga Retina Institute it;s a different story, The staff there is very friendly and professionals (except for one person). Dr. Mark Mandell is a great doctor. He explains to you exactly what is being done. Gives you options to choose from. I haven't felt comfortable in any eye centre except for this one. I really feel that I am in safe hands.

I met with Dr. Mark Mandell in March of 2017, I had 3 holes in my retina and thinning in the other eye, found during a routine eye exam. The "urgent" request my optician put in was finally appointed over a month later, despite being told that if I had any signs that my sight was getting worse, I should go straight to the hospital. My appointment was fine, I did bring someone for my appointment as I was told that I wouldn't be able to drive home. I had the initial appointment, for him to check and confirm, a second appointment two weeks later to do the actual surgery and a third appointment two weeks after that for the follow-up to ensure everything was healing nicely. Each time, my eyes were fully dilated, so each time I had to have someone else drive me home from the appointment and take time off work. I've since been told by 4 people who have had the exact same surgery that their surgeons have all done the surgery on the day of the initial appointment, as they know what you're coming in for and they book you for a 2-3 hour session. My "3 hours" was literally an hour and a half, including a double dilation as one eye didn't fully dilate, from start to finish, and the surgery appointment was 20 minutes, also booked for over an hour. Is he a good doctor? Absolutely... he's very personable and funny, but is it worth the waste of time off work and sitting in his office, no.. this could very much better handled.

I was scared to death by ophthalmologist in OCC eye care center where I was told that my condition is quite serious and that if, left untreated, I could go blind or I could get permanent irreversible damage. To treat it, I was told that I require 3 laser treatments over the courses of a few months and after, if things don't get better, I may require an injection of medication, by the needle, directly to my eye. Not to mention that I was told that I would have to pay 185$ or so for something that was not covered by the OHIP. I decided to seek a second opinion about this because this sounded too horrible to be the truth. Thank God, I was referred to ophthalmologist Dr. Mandell by equally wonderful optometrist Dr. Markowitz (please read about her as well I left my honest review) Dr. Mandell checked out my eyes and he told me that my condition is very mild that doesn't require any treatments at this point. He also said that my condition is most likely caused by me taking nasal and oral steroids, something that was completely ignored and dismissed by the OCC eye care ophthalmologist. Dr.Mandell told me to leave it as is and that most likely my eyes will get better on its own without doing anything. Now, if you like being lasered or poked in your eyes with needles for no reason go elsewhere but if you want to get honest opinion and diagnosis by the world class ophthalmologist ask to be referred to Dr. Mandell.

This place is well organized with ample seating accomidations and a comfortable environment for patients. Dr Mark Mandell is a very good doctor. Very calm, patient and supportive in the way he carries/conducts himself, a very peaceful soul. Also very experienced in his speciality. I have nothing negative to say and no reason not to recommend this place. In my multiple experiences visiting this place, I highly recommend it.

Think it's nerve-wracking to go to a retina specialist? For some, like me, it is. But Doctor Mandell, and everyone that works at the Mississauga Retina Institute, are awesome at what they do, and they all put the patient at ease.

Very poor organization. Upon arrival I had to fill out ridiculous paperwork with information they should have had from the referring physician. It's ridiculous that I have to write down information such as my Health Card Number when they scan it anyway. What was terrible is they never bothered to inform me what was required for my appointment. When I sat down, I was told that it would be 2 to 3 hours before I could drive. Since I had to leave after my appointment, this requirement was impossible. I told the assistant Joanna that I should have been informed prior to my appointment that I would have been unable to drive for several. Had I known, I would have come with someone who could drive me home. Joanna told me that its not their responsibility to inform clients ahead of time, and it didn't matter because, I should have "known" better! Finally, I asked to have my records expunged from their system and they told me they couldn't do it. Terrible experience

I brought my dad here to get a second opinion from Dr. Mandell. The service was impeccable from the receptionist to all the staff. Dr. Mandell was very thorough he explained everything to us in layman’s term. He was extremely personable and very professional.

I recently had my first visit to Dr Koushan at MRI.....it was fantastic from the point of meeting the receptionist to the technicians who performed the various tests to seeing the doctor to discuss the results (see the scan pix's) and agree next steps. I much appreciated the level of patient service at MRI.
