I recently underwent cataract surgery on both eyes at the TLC Laser Eye Centre in Waterloo. Everyone from the front desk to the technicians, nurses and doctors were courteous, professional and comported themselves with a sense of calm and confidence that put me at complete ease. I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and painless the procedure was; 1 1/2 hours from laying down to completion! The operation was a breeze and I was seeing 20/20 right afterwards which was quite a relief after spending 8 months looking through a cloud in one eye and a quick deterioration in the other. Today I went for my postoperative examination and was met with a thumbs up from a joyous woman in her 70's (est.) on her way out beaming with excitement at how fantastic it was to be able to see again. I have been telling everyone I know what a wonderful experience it was. Now you know too.

I definitely had a great experience at this TLC Oakville Location. I was so nervous about the whole process but when I arrived on the day of my surgery, I was reassure that it would only last 15 minutes and I wouldn’t feel any pain. I can say i worried for nothing. I didn’t feel a thing except for a bit pressure and post op was a breeze. I mostly slept for the first day and second day and by the third day, the only issue was some dryness. After one week I had 20/20 vision and zero issue. I am so glad I got laser eyes surgery. Thank you so much Sylvia and Dr. Dean Smith, you guys really made the whole process easier than I thought it will be.

Sometimes you end up waiting a long time at appointments and they can't give you a precise answer on when you need to be picked up, but the individual staff (especially Kristen and Leanne) were awesome. I have had 3 eye surgery with TLC. The last one by far was the best experience at the Bristol Place, Oakville location. Fabulous. PRK on both eyes at the same time. As well, cleared up some leftover cataracts and while they told me it would be uncomfortable, it was really only the first day that was difficult. I taped my eyes shut and tried to rest. I followed the instructions exactly and I could not be happier. The Yonge St. location is far too busy for me. The appointment times are always late, too many people coming and going and while I live so close and it would be far more convenient, it was better for me to drive to Oakville and be in a more relaxed state with appointments on time. Thanks TLC!

Me and my brother we had lasik done with Dr dean smith, it was an amazing experience, no regrets about choosing TLC for our eye care. starting from front staff to back all were very helpful before, after and during the surgery. with thorough information and support helped us to go through surgery seamless. we were nervous but with Dr. Smith calm voice and his stress eye balls made us relax and finish up the surgery. Here is my experience: The TLC clinic is on the second floor. The receptionist is friendly and easy going. You go through the covid drill and you get to go in and fill a history form. Then a technician takes you in for eye prescription test and cornea mapping. This creates a profile of your eyes that helps them give you advice. Tech is serious. Then you see a doctor who makes a recommendation for surgery or no surgery. Found them prompt - no time wasting. They told me that I will be there for two hours but the whole thing took 30 minutes.

Super comfortable atmosphere and incredible staff. Optometrists/Doctors extremely diligent throughout the process. The operation went smooth, needless to say, it was a weird experience but no pain whatsoever (just a little pressure on the eye). Could see instantly following the eye surgery. I had a consultation done 2 years ago and at that time, I was not eligible for laser eye surgery. They told me I had to come back in 6 months for a recheck but unfortunately, I was too busy until recently. It also goes to show that TLC does not rush you into getting laser eye surgery if you are not ready yet. I went back this year and was able to book for surgery. The staff were phenomenal! They made it an extremely smooth process for me and I also felt very safe as the facility was exceptionally clean due to COVID protocols. The staff were friendly, thorough, and answered all of my questions. Dr. Smith did my procedure and made me feel reassured during surgery day. I am 4 day post-op LASIK and could not have felt any better about the results!!!

Im now 1 week post op and my eye doctor said my eyes look perfect and textbook, and my vision is now 20/10. I had my laser eye surgery at TLC oakville in April 2021. Throughout the consult and various examinations i was told that the procedure will be lasik. However a few minutes before stepping into the OR, the nurse informed me that Dr. Ahmed reviewed my files and now the procedure will be PRK. I had no idea what PRK was and had not done any research into it but I had trusted decision made by the surgeon. I was told that they recovery would be 3-5 days. I agreed and swallowed 600mg advil and ativan and had the procedure done in a few minutes. I thought they would keep you for observation but you are shown out the door the second you step out of the OR. My recovery was NOT 3-5 days. It was horrible burning pain for 5 days. It felt like my eyes were burning inside out. It was two weeks before I could do anything normal chores and full month before I could drive or work on a computer. I wish the clinic was more upfront about the recovery and also that they gave me a copy of all the documents that they made me sign in the beginning. If PRK is your recommended procedure, be prepared for a longer (painful) recovery. After 3 months, I can finally see clearly. My reading vision is still blurry in the morning and i have to constantly rely on eye drops.

Great surgery experience which is the most important part in this whole process. Love that I was scheduled in for a particular time frame as I know people at Lasik MD have to wait there all day sometimes to get in. Can be a stressful surgery for some people so I don't imagine that being ideal if you're nervously awaiting your appointment. Dr. Jellie did a great job as did the nurses and staff on this day. Dr. Jellie is a bit opinionated as I learned in our short little meeting before the surgery (where you I guess still have a chance to back out), but it's his skills that were key. They have a nice little waiting area. During Christmas, Sam at the from desk was playing lots of movie classics including Home Alone so that was fantastic to have while waiting! Follow up appointments for post op had long wait times. They tended to get behind like a doctors office so wait times for the appointments were 30-50 minutes delayed.

I only wish there had been a shorter wait time (my appt was at 10 and I was only seen at 11) but I understand it can get very busy on surgery days.

I am SO happy with my experience with TLC the Oakville Location. First if all, I have a very high plus prescription, and all my life I have been told I will never be a candidate for Lasik. My optometrist suggested I go to TLC, and they had so many machines to test my eyes on and get accurate measurements. I was convinced they were going to say “no, we can’t do anything for you,” but at the end of my consultation, they were very positive, and had an alternative option! I was so surprised, PHAKIC IOL SURGERY! I was ecstatic. They made it very easy, they gave me a folder with information on what these Phakic Lens are, how the procedure would go, the prescriptions were neatly ready to be filled with a schedule. I booked my surgery, and they were ready to book all the other appointments right away that I would need pre and post operation. Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic and shut downs had delayed my surgery, but TLC was always ready to answer any question I had, and I had a lot. Nikki, the manager had taken over my case, and was amazing in re-booked me for my surgery. She had informed me that situation had come up. I have an astigmatism on my eyes, and was unable to get the PHAKIC IOL’s with astigmatism, but the Surgeon, Dr. Ahmed had worked together with the Creators of the lenses to figure out how they can best put in the lenses so I can get the most out of my vision. During the surgery, I felt well taken care of. The procedure and the post operation care were explained in detail. The O.R Nurse Dixie was very attentive and caring. Dr. Ahmed was amazing and encouraging. I felt very safe and secure with him working on my eyes! I am Forever Thankful for TLC and the Doctors who took so much care, and supported my need for eye surgery. I truly believe the TLC family understood my necessity and want for this surgery, and they did EVERYTHING in their power to get me to my surgery day! I would just like to state, I am writing this review, 2 days after surgery. I can see AMAZINGLY, and I have absolutely no need for my Thick Glasses. I highly recommend this clinic if you are considering getting any type of eye surgery!! I actually suggested my mom come and check her eyes out too, and they are now helping her through her surgery in October!

Had a great experience at TLC - surgery went well, a week after surgery my vision is 20/20. The staff at TLC made me feel welcome and took the time to answer all my questions. Overall, extremely happy with my laser eye surgery, though I had one recommendation for the TLC staff: It would be great if I could have been provided more accurate and consistent estimates of the time required to do the surgery. On the information booklet it said I will be at TLC for 2-3 hours, but that was crossed out in pen and listed as 1.5 hours. When I called in to confirm my appointment they said I would be there for 4-5 hours, but then when we arrived they said I will be in and out in less than an hour. It did only take an hour (which was very convenient!) but knowing that upfront would have been easier for my mom to plan her schedule (as the one driving home after the surgery).

Overall the experience was completely seamless and worth it. For those who are considering getting treatment, these are the things you can expect. You start with a free consultation which involves a few scans (very non-invasive and quick) to see if you are a suitable candidate and which procedure (LASIK or PRK) best fits your needs. For the day of the procedure, I found that if you hype it up in your mind, it will seem scarier than it really is. The entire procedure only took about 15 mins. During the process, there was little to no pain. Only mild discomfort. Post op, there was some stinging and more discomfort which I can only describe as cutting up a bunch of raw onions. Once you put in your prescribed eye drops, the discomfort subsides fairly quickly. Personally I found the entire experience efficient and the team at TLC Waterloo were amazing throughout with their communication being open and reassuring about what to expect. I couldn't be more satisfied!

I cannot recommend TLC enough! Everyone with glasses should get a treatment done!! I was so impressed with the quickness in which I was able to get a consultation, and then surgery date! The staff are so friendly and professional - many have had a procedure done themselves and are able to encourage, reassure, and excite you about the upcoming treatment. Immediately after the surgery I could see clearly without my glasses, and within 24 hours I had better than 20/20 vision!! Right from day one I had a whole team of specialists looking after me. There were so many scans and tests before the big day. All the results were shared with me and explained to me in easy to understand terms. My surgery day was Friday morning so my husband and I booked a hotel for Thursday and Friday nights and made a whole weekend out of it. Your comfort is their main concern. I decided to go in and check if the surgery is a possibility for me. Got to the clinic on time for my appointment and that's where things went wrong.........I was left waiting for 35 minutes, when I went in to the secretary to see how much longer would the wait be, she was unpleasant and dismissive. She informed me that this is a 1.5 hr appointment and that I needed to make time. Not for anything but the 1.5 hrs was now over 2. She said that she will check and let me know. I waited another 15 minutes....I was waiting for 50 minutes for the appointment now......I asked again if it's going to be much longer and the same very unpleasant lady said......we don't know. thats it....no explanation, nothing....we don't know! I asked for my info back and left the clinic. It's a shame that being a private practice the staff doesn't care about their employer and their business. This lady is the reason why TLC will not have my business and i am very disappointed about the time that i waisted waiting.

TLC Laser Eye Center in Winnipeg is absolutely amazing! I cannot say a single bad thing. Every person who works there is a gem. They are kind, knowledgeable and human. I had Lasik on my eyes about 1.5 years ago. Was the most humbling experience of my life. I walked out and could see the next day. My right eye decided to be stubborn and not catch up so, this past Friday I had an enhancement (free of charge) on my right eye. On Saturday I was seeing 20/20 already. The TLC staff explains everything that will be happening, asks you if you have any questions or fears but also has conversations with you about life. You don't feel like you are walking into a sterile environment but walking into a family environment. I would recommend every single individual and this entire clinic. As I do enjoy researching clinics, restaurants, and stores beforehand to see if it’s worth my time or not, I know how important a good review is. In my experience, reading reviews can either make or break my decision making process, especially when it’s something important such as my eye sight. Even though I’ve wanted this surgery for a long time now, I was super nervous about the whole thing. I researched for hours on clinics, consulted my optometrist and friends and family in an attempt to find the best clinic to do the surgery. I believe I picked the right clinic and I wouldn’t have done it any other way. I had two consultations prior to the surgery. When I first consulted my optometrist about this surgery (whom I’ve been seeing for YEARS), she recommended TLC. TLC became in contact with me a few days later, and I booked my first consultation. Sadly, my prescription has changed too much to do the surgery but they were more than happy to book another consultation one year later. The reception and the staff were very very nice. The second consultation, I had my eyes tripled check and I had an optometrist check my eyes as well. I think he was measuring the thickness of my corneas but I was unsure. The optometrist was very friendly and nice, and he walked me through the surgery as well. Unfortunately, I didn’t grab his name. Next, I sat down with Sylvia for the financial side of the surgery. She was very friendly, sweet, helpful and informative. She booked my surgery AND my follow up appointments with my optometrist ! Dr. Dean Smith was my surgeon. Come Surgery day, Dr. Smith walked me through the surgery which helped calmed my nerves a lot. He also gave me a small small (sleeping?) pill to help me relax a little. He also assured me that I was less than 1% likely to get an infection, which helped a lot. He also gave me two stress balls during the actual surgery which helped a lot ! AND he talked through the whole thing ! The surgery was a total of ten minutes. Everyone heals differently but recovery for me has been very very quick and wonderful. I have perfect 20/20 vision and I’m SOO happy that I did this surgery ! 20/20 would recommend ????

I was extremely anxious of complications going into my appointment since I'm a medical student and rely on my vision, but the staff were very patient in explaining the risks to me and reassuring me. When I walked into the surgery suite my vision was poor enough that I could not recognize myself in a mirror from more than 2 feet away, but I walked out with near perfect vision which improved over the next few days. I went there to find out why my vision turned blurry out of a sudden. Not only the doctor was extremely rude, he rushed through the entire test and basically told me "too bad so sad" at the end. The clinic also has the most outrageous prices for vision checks. I've never received such poor treatment before.

I cannot comment in detail on the full experience as I did not make it past the first appointment, but the customer service I received was poor. They booked me for my consultation on their surgery day (with confirmation). This location is not very close to me, but I heard good things so I wanted my surgery to be done here. I took my entire day off work and drove for 2 hours to get here only to find out by reception upon arrival that "we don't do consultations today". I contacted their customer service and did not receive any response. I ended up having my surgery done at LASIK MD around the corner where I had a much different experience. I felt important to LASIK MD and they actually valued me, but with TLC I just felt like another number. The surgeons may be fantastic at TLC, but customer service is still part of the entire package and because of that I walked away (especially when I am spending this much money).

I was at this place last week with a friend that needs assistance with day to day living. The staff was amazing with all their Covid-19 precautions. They greeted us and explained the details of how the eye care was going be and took everything into consideration. The doctors ( I met 2 of them) were serious about their work but also portrayed a sense of reassurance that they knew exactly what they were doing. I would recommend this facility to anyone in need of eye care. The nurses and staff feel very dedicated to what they do. The surgery went great and her eye sight is definitely way better than it ever was.

I was very excited for this surgery at tlc and I now wish I never did it. At least I wasn’t spending so much money on eye drops back then. I got the surgery in June and have since been using restasis (medicated drops $120), hylo gel ($50-$60), new glasses ($250), polarized sunglasses ($250). On top of the $5000 you pay for the surgery. I’ve had issues with my eyes since the surgery, very dry, irritated, burning every once in a while, and not 20/20. I was never told I’d be spending so much after the surgery while I was still paying it off. I was almost pushed into another surgery to fix one eye that is -1.00 because I was unaware that it would make my dry eyes 10x worse until I got a second opinion and they informed me it would be much worse the second time, and my eyes were still not fully healed by then. I refused to do the surgery and then was told to try another $60 eye drop on top of the 2 other drops I already use. I’ve been pushed aside and told to just wait. And wait. Or go into surgery and have even more problems after.

Very disappointed with the lack of professionalism at the Waterloo TLC. After the initial consultation I was deemed a good candidate for corrective laser surgery but because I wore hard lenses was required to wait 4 months without wearing my hard lenses for my corneas to regain normal shape prior to surgery. On the date of the surgery the pre-op test showed that my astigmatism was now outside the range of correction and that there was a high risk of corrective recurrence. I was told the surgeon would review the details of the evaluation and contact me within 48 hours to discuss options. This did not happen. Five weeks later I had a phone call on a Saturday afternoon from some guy at TLC asking me if I had made any decisions regarding surgery. I went through the whole story with him , told him I had never been contacted by the surgeon for followup discussion about options and risks. He was flabbergasted, promised someone would call me within 48 hours. Again, this has not happened. I am back to wearing hard lenses again. Am not pleased with the TLC experience at all. Sad to see that this clinic is associated with UW.

I got my eye surgery done here at the Oakville location and followed all the instructions listed for me. And continued to take the moisturizing eye drops till after the 6month period. It's been about 7-8 months now and my vision is slightly better but very blurry. I can barely see in the day or the night. I went in to get it checked and the optometrist there belittled everything I had to say. She also stated that it wasn't serious enough to get surgery done on it. And that the black lines I'm seeing in my vision isn't related to the surgery... Even though I only started seeing them after I got my laser eye surgery done. My eyesight isn't getting better and it's hard to see yet it's not a good enough reason to pursue surgery. I felt like she felt attacked by me saying that I can't see. I regret coming here and wish I went somewhere else.

Incredible. They are so caring, nice, and informative every step of the way. The procedure is painless but very intense and uncomfortable, but you are guided through it by the surgeon very well. 10/10 would recommend, my vision is better the next day than it was before the surgery with glasses on. I am overjoyed by the ability to see without glasses and not have anything I have to rely on to see. The first 4-5 hours after the procedure suck, make sure you are in a dark room and can keep your eyes closed for these hours. Pain subsides substantially after this period.

I had my surgery done yesterday, Feb 7, 2019. If there was one person who was most nervous about this procedure it was probably me. I kept thinking “what happens if something goes wrong or they screw up?”. But I trusted the team, and Dr. Smith did a great job. The 1st day was a little discomfort, not too much.. As for day two - here I am, very little discomfort, and my follow up appt (at my personal eye doctor) this morning revealed I may have better than 20/20 vision, possibly 20/15 vision. I just had lasik surgery on both my eyes yesterday. I chose the Waterloo location due to its great reviews from friends and online. My eye doctor also recommended this facility. The whole process from the first consult to the surgery day was so easy. The coordinator answered all my questions promptly before the surgery day. I got I meet with Dr Jellie before the surgery and ask any final questions. The staff and Dr Jellie were so awesome at talking me through the whole process which helped keep me calm. We had to drive about 1.5hrs to get home after the sugery. My eyes were quite sore and uncomfortable...a lot more than I expected I would recommend to anyone driving a longer distance to bring some Advil or Tylenol to take before driving home. My eyes are much better today and I can see so clearly!! Thank you Dr Jellie and TLC staff!!!

I had my LASIK procedure done on December 9th by Dr. Dean Smith. The entire process, from the free consultation to booking my appointment with Patty to the surgery, went very smoothly. They answered all my questions and didn't pressure me to book an appointment right after the consultation. I went to consultations at 2 other places and ultimately chose TLC because I felt the most comfortable at TLC given their technology and the calibre of their surgeons. Dr. Smith was great - he talked me through the surgery as it was happening step by step and kept me calm. TLC also took care of my 24 hour post op appointment, which was very convenient. I received this expensive (and apparently most advanced) laser eye surgery here at TLC about 3 years ago. It was terrifying, but I thought it would be worth it. It cost about $5,000. But price to me is not an issue when it comes to your eyes and I wanted to get the best possible technology and most advanced surgeons available to me. That being said I still do not see 20/20. Even a month after the surgery my vision never reached 20/20. Which was really disappointing as my eye sight was not so bad to begin with (I was a -1.25 in both eyes). So I really expected better results. I also have to deal with mild dry eyes most of the time. And have to take eye drops for that. My eye doctor also told me the the circular lasik cut they made around my eye was not evenly done. Which was upsetting to here as you pay so much for this surgery I would expect it to be perfect. Needless to say the people are nice and they try their best to make you feel comfortable and relaxed, but I am about results. And I wouldn't recommend this place based on my results. But I wouldn't tell people to not go here either, my vision is better than it was before, but disappointed that they could not correct it to 20/20.

I waited a full year to leave to share my full experience. I had PRK done at this location in July 2020 and it was one of the best decisions that I ever made. The procedure was extremely quick and painless and I noticed a massive improvement in my vision right away. For several days after the surgery I was in a lot of pain, sand under the eyelids kind of pain. I basically just slept or stayed in bed for a few days. After a few days the pain began to subside and I noticed over the next 8 months or so a very gradual improvement in my vision on top of the initial major improvement. I just had my one year check up and am sitting at 20/15 vision. Im very happy with the procedure. If you need PRK, prepare for some initial discomfort and an ongoing improvement to your vision. I read a lot of worrying info in the early days after the procedure but if my experience is any help, it will continue to improve over the next 6-8 months. Still using eye drops in the mornings and nights but I see this as a small price to pay for hopefully a lifetime without glasses. Thanks TLC!

Friendly staff but the whole experience for me was a waste of time. Going in I was nervous but excited as I have worn glasses since I was 2 years old! This was a big liberating day for me and at this point I had invested 3 visits to their clinic. Once lying on the operating table, the doctor started the procedure by putting a plastic covering over my eye which stuck to my face. Unfortunately, part of it covered both my nose and mouth somewhat restricting my breathing which just added to my stress. Next came the eye clamp which forces your eye open and it was extremely uncomfortable. I actually think it was pinching the corner of my eye. Never once was I asked for feed back as to my level of comfort and actually he just made the eye lamp tighter. Next came the request to stare into a very bright light once my eye was clamped so he could start the procedure. My eyes were completely dilated so if you have ever had that done, you know how sensitive they become to light. It felt like trying to stare at the sun and I had great difficulty doing it! With your eyes clamped open, you have no way of blinking or closing your eyes as you would normally. Anyway, between the uncomfortable eye clamp, restricted breathing, stress of the procedure and inability to stare at the bright light, the doctor said he did not feel comfortable doing the procedure, mumbled something about me being one in a thousand and aborted the procedure. For me it was a extremely disappointing and stressful procedure and I was very happy to get my money back ($8,100.00) and get the hell out of there. Maybe lasik is different then cataract surgery but It may not be a painful procedure but it’s sure not comfortable at all. I’m going to try their Mississauga clinic with a different doctor under sedation which is not offered at the Waterloo clinic. Hopefully, I will have much better outcome.

I was talked through the entire process and made very comfortable. My Surgeon was Dr. McCuaig who did such a great job on my flaps that even my Optometrist was impressed and could barely notice the edges during my next days follow up. With next day 20/20 vision and no dryness or other side effects I am completely satisfied with the results and highly recommend TLC Waterloo to anyone looking to get Lasik vision correction. There was some burning discomfort for a few hours after the surgery (like having onions around your eyes) but the drugs they provided helped me go home and sleep it off so once I woke up I was fine :) Thanks TLC Waterloo for the positive experience!!~Kasia

I had a wonderful experience getting LASIK performed on both of my eyes at TLC Waterloo. All of the doctors, nurses and professionals were wonderful and made me very comfortable getting the procedure done. STOP READING THOSE ONLINE ARTICLES about pros and cons of Lasik. Before Surgery: I swear to God I have never been more scared and double minded about anything in my life. I am someone who likes to research everything before actually buying a product. However, Lasik is one of those things where as the area of your knowledge grows, so does the perimeter of your ignorance. If you are going through the same thing, let me save you hours of research. Call TLC and ASK FOR SYLVIA! After a single consultation she: 1. Answered all of my questions. 2. Outlined the entire procedure. 3. Explained me of any possible risks (and the statistics of said risks). 4. Helped me plan a wedding proposal ???? The Surgery: Finally, on the day of the surgery, doctor gave the rundown of the procedure (and some pep talk). Procedure took about 15 minutes. Everything was hazy for next 24 hours. I could see a halo of light around everyone. Doctor was explaining me everything he was doing as he was doing it. I guess I was never in the dark about anything (couldn’t resist the pun). Post-Surgery: I had the surgery 8 days ago now and I feel like a Superhero. I am still recovering but I am told that my vision should completely recover in about a month. More importantly, do not forget those eye drops and proper lubrication. For a couple of days after surgery it felt like I got a hair in my eye but apparently that normal. Note to the staff: Thank you for everything guys, because of you I’d finally be able to look my future wife in the eyes without a frame around her face. Keep up the good work. Thank you.

My wife had done her eyes here at TLC a few years ago, and being present for the procedure, I was confident in going ahead and undergoing the same procedure. I have to say, the staff here is quite remarkable. Every member of their team truly made me feel comfortable and confident about the decision to have laser eye surgery. I felt safe with the screening, social distancing, and cleanliness of the entire facility in regards to COVID-19. Obviously I went in with a few nerves, but the staff were all reassuring and confident in successfulness of the procedure. The procedure was straight forward. The entire staff is willing to answer all of your questions regarding your procedure. You’re given all the tools and resources you need post-operation to feel confident when you get home. I had lasik eye surgery yesterday morning. I was honestly extremely nervous about the procedure. My stomach was turning about the thoughts of getting it done and seeing things come at my eye and it hurting, the only pain I felt or uncomfortable part of the entire thing was the tape being taken off of my eyelid! It was so quick and painless! It’s been a little over 24 hours now and I can see completely as if I had my glasses on. Going for a doctors check up is worse than getting lasik lol! I met with Jen during my consultation and she’s seriously so personable and easy to talk to, I was so glad she was in there with me to hold my hand and guide me through everything. She talked about anything to get my mind off of it because of how nervous she knew I was and I couldn’t have done it without her! Wow. I am the first to review here. Comparing it to lasikMD, Bochner eye institute consultations; TLC by far has the best customer service oriented interaction. It seemed like they would spend an hour discussing all the questions you had comparing to others. Also, their prices were the 2nd cheapest after lasik MD. But, price does not matter when it comes to eyes. You need to believe in the clinic and staff that are going to operate your birth eyes. For example, the way lasik MD conducted its business towards me was suggesting me to opt for regular wave front technology that was like 10 years old for a lower price. The success rate you ask? I would have gone blind if i had that done (not in the literal sense). Instead, TLC only had an option for custom wave front. Although they explained the wavefront technology, they do not conduct those procedures at their facilities. Hence, it goes to show how well concerned they are to get quality results and improve the quality of life of their customers.

I put this surgery off for quite a few years because, frankly, eyes are terrifying. Covid masks and glasses were not jiving for me so I re-visited laser eye surgery and decided to take the plunge. The staff at TLC in Winnipeg were amazing and the process was easy from start to finish. The actual surgery was quick and Dr. Rocha made it as comfortable as possible (it’s not pleasurable by any means but it doesn’t really hurt either). I could walk out of the clinic seeing, without my glasses, which I thought was pretty darn amazing. I’m currently on day 3 after surgery and have had no issues or complaints. Recovery time is remarkably quick. The afternoon of the surgery day isn’t cool but within about 5 hours the discomfort is markedly reduced. All in all, I would highly recommend TLC in Winnipeg for LASIK eye surgery. Certainly life changing to be able to see again without the use of glasses or contacts!

Highly recommend TLC. The entire process took about 1.5 hours which consisted of various types of eye exam to assess/confirm the type of surgery needed. I was being examined by various staff including the optometrist. The staff were very attentive and detailed oriented, and I felt that they had great communication with each other and worked cohesively as a team. After all the assessments, I signed my consent forms and went through with the payment. The procedure I had was LASIK and that part only took 15 minutes. Dr. Smith was my surgeon and he made sure that I had a chance to ask all my questions before starting the surgery. Although the surgery itself was a little scary, I knew I was in great hands (Dr. Smith’s calm voice was very helpful!). I was really comfortable each step of the way. There was no point in the process that I felt pressured or misinformed. The after care instructions were clear and helpful. The day after was the follow up appointment which I felt was a bit rushed because I think they either had low staff or equipment issues. I was told that I had about 20/20 vision just 24 h post op. I am writing this review two weeks after my surgery and the results are better than what I expected. Although I am still having some light halos which is expected and is slowly resolving, LASIK fixed my astigmatism. My vision at night especially when driving is better than how it was before. My vision used to be really bad so LASIK improved my vision and quality of life significantly. In terms of dry eyes, it was an issue for 1-2 weeks but is no longer an issue for me. I still use my hydrating drop before bed and in the morning to hydrate my eyes but I don’t actually need it. Thank you Oakville TLC for a pleasant experience!

Dr. Smith is a brilliant doctor! State of the art technology plus expertise in the clinic made everything go perfectly. I had lasik performed on both eyes with a prescription of +3.75 and +4.50 with astigmatisms. I am now seeing better than ever before compared to with my glasses. I'm only afew days post procedure and could read 4 out of 5 letters on the 20/20 vision line. The only side effects I'm experiencing is night time halos and a mild haze which I'm sure will fade given a bit more time. To all the staff at the clinic thank you! Everyone at TLC is very professional and friendly. My experience there was excellent. I was a nervous patient, planning to have one eye done at a time. The O.R. nurse (Dixie) was wonderful and Dr. Varma, my surgeon, was very patient and encouraging. When the first cataract was removed, it went very smoothly and my eye felt good. No pain or discomfort.. Dr. Varma gave me the option of having my second eye done then or to wait the pre-scheduled two weeks. I chose to have it done then and I’m glad I did. Life Changing!.. For a person who has worn glasses for 24 years, I was very nervous of laser eye surgery.. I first looked into this in 2012 and waited 9 years to do it but oh how I wish I had done it sooner! Life changing is the only word to describe the whole thing.. TLC is exceptional. From the consultation and how friendly the consultants and staff are, to the emails they send prior to your surgery day that go over everything and what to expect pre and post op. On the day of, The staff welcomed me and made me feel very comfortable as I still had hesitation (never touched my eyes or worn contacts before). Izzy the eye councillor was very helpful and made my nerves go away. Amanda the eye tester also made the process a lot easier by talking to me about it and letting me know I really had nothing to worry about. I forgot a few other names but both optometrists pre and post op were amazing. Dr. Smith the surgeon talked with me throughout the process and it was a lot quicker than I had assumed. 0 pain and minimal discomfort. Dr. Smith, thank you for giving me the ability to see better than perfect with my own eyes again and the whole entire staff thank you for everything. Dr. Smith was amazing! He was so sweet, warming and professional. He explained everything step by step while making sure I was comfortable and relaxed. He was recommended to me by my uncle and his wife. I was super nervous about it and he made sure I was calm. I did take the sedative which helped big time. The staff all are very friendly and helpful. The procedure was literally 10 mins long. The freezing stung a bit and there was a little bit of discomfort when the machine puts pressure on your eyes to cut the flap but lasts only 4 seconds . By that time the sedative is kicking in and the humming of the machine and lights that you stare at make you very sleepy and calm. Then your done ! The day of the surgery your eyes are watering all the time so you can’t keep them open. Resting helps and being awoken to puts the drops in as scheduled help big time too. They say if you fall asleep don’t wake up to put the drops in and once you wake up put the drops and then follow the schedule. My left eye is completely fine like nothing happened. My right eye even after 5 days still feels dry and like something is in it but it’s because I have astigmatism. It’s normal and has been getting better. It was worth every penny because now I can see 20/20 and I can do things that I have never done as a child because contacts lenses and glasses get in the way . Thank you !!!!

I am very happy with TLC. I went in on a Thursday and could see right off the table, I went home and stayed in bed pretty much all day with my eyes closed. Friday was honestly perfectly fine, I didn't have any side effects of feeling gritty eyes or anything like other people had mentioned. Maybe it was my conditioning of wearing contacts for so many years and how uncomfortable they feel but no complaints. My vision was very bad, and I went for consultations in 2010, 2013 and 2016 and their lasers weren't strong enough to correct my vision, they have a new laser as of 2018 and were able to correct me. I wish I had followed up sooner!!! -6 near sighted with -5.75 astigmatism and I have 20/15 in my left and 20/25 in my right. I have a 20% chance of regression but they said they have enough tissue left to do an enhancement to fix it all. The money was already worth it, waking up and seeing was my dream and it has come true.

I had my ICL surgery down on September 29. At the very beginning I did not shop around the internet for all kinds of clinics, as I know TLC is the one I will go for. TLC Oakville please read ALL these suggestions. Or if you're a prospective patient, read these too so you have a better experience than I did! TLC if you implement these changes or suggestions, I'm happy to change my review to a 5-star review! 1) Confirm that the patient not only has a ride home (which TLC does) but ensure that the patient has a caregiver for the whole night. There is no way you can take care of yourself that first night. They only ask if you have a ride, which for some is Uber/Taxi. I fainted when I was home and thank goodness I had a caregiver who literally caught me from falling onto the porcelain floor. 2) Give the paper Eye drop prescription ahead of time (instead of in-office an hour before the procedure) so it can be filled and ready when the procedure is done and the patient can go straight home. Or, tell the patients there is a pharmacy on the ground floor so they can go and have it filled straight away BEFORE the procedure. When I got my prescription, I was told to fill it/get the drops on the way home (WHEN YOU'RE LITERALLY BLIND). Thankfully I noticed a pharmacy on the main floor and asked the receptionist if I had time to go down. She said "oh that's a great idea!". 3) Please change your drop schedule to include the DRUG NAME (instead of the brand name) as pharmacies don't all carry the same brands. my caregiver mixed up my drops due to this and I was given the wrong drops for the first full night. The pharmacist on the ground floor did point out the difference, but I did not have the wherewithal to tell my caregiver after the procedure and she administered the wrong ones to me. 4) Create and GIVE the patients driver/caretaker a package or information sheet of how to take care of the patient including the drop schedule and Do's and Don'ts (they gave me a paper before the procedure and I forgot to give it to my caretaker, plus their version is confusing). TLC walks you out to meet your ride at the elevator, so the package WITH YOUR DROPS should be given to your caregiver then. TLC shouldn't let you leave without your drops, and a caregiver package that is given DIRECTLY to your caregiver (this is currently not being done). TLC, please create a caregiver info sheet with CLEAR instructions. eg. Drops A (with the drug name), use once per hour on your friend. etc. 5) Please be clear with after care in an email and paper. TLC briefly explains aftercare to you, the patient, about 5 minutes before your procedure (during payment) when you're likely NOT going to remember it. 6) Please send a follow up text or email with REMINDER of what after care is including the eyedrop schedule. Even better, ask ahead of time for consent to send the caregiver package directly to your friend via email or text, or even to cc them on the original emails. The procedure itself was good. the doctor was great, amazing bedside manner and looks you right in the eyes explaining things. my eyes have no issues and I'm very very happy with the result. But if I can help prevent the bad experience I had with the administration side, then I'll be happy. My right eye muscle/nerve did spasm during the operation, but my RMT fixed it with a gentle massage. A couple other suggestions to other patients: eat a decent meal before you go into your appointment..you're waiting there for a few hours before the appointment. Bring snacks and water, maybe a book. Plan your dinner/ next meal ahead of time too and have it delivered or prepped. Have or hire a caregiver for the night and next morning, have them sleep over. Keep hydrated. Wear comfy clothes.

First off, anybody wanting a consultation, it's free and easy and the staff is extremely friendly and no pressure too. I just underwent surgery Friday morning and it was very easy, nothing to it. Hard to explain but i can see so much more clearer now and worth every penny which by the way is not that expensive compared to 10 + years ago. I recommend at least the consultation so this way they will tell you of your candidate!

Wouldn't recommend if you are someone who likes to know what's going on before procedures. Had a consultation about a month before and the lady was lovely. Afterwards when I went for the surgery I was treated like a number. Was given eye drops and relaxing pills without an explanation until I asked. Was not explained any of the follow up procedures (the 3 eye appointments necessary, luckily I had someone available to drive me) and was told what drops I should take right after the procedure was done, not before. They also tried to charge me full price when I was notified during my consultation that they were doing a $1000 promotion for all of December (I went mid-December). If some more attention was made to details that people should be aware of I would have given it a higher review but unfortunately I was disappointed with their overall customer service.

The doctors and all of the medical staff are everything you can ask for no issues with any of the medical team what so ever. The issue arose around the booking of appointments. TLC was to book my follow up appointments for me and as of now I have had to book my 1 day follow up which was at their centre and they had in writing would be there yet fails to book, and the one week follow up at my personal optometrist which they have in writing that they would book. Due to the fact they did not book my one week I now have to go for the follow up a day later than is optimal.

I got LASIK on both eyes at TLC and it has changed my life. My vision was left eye -5.75 and right eye -5.25. The procedure took about 15 minutes and was painless. The worst part of the procedure is yourself. I worked myself up so much thinking about what could go wrong and caused a lot of unnecessary anxiety. My advice is to try to relax and calm yourself. I have relied on glasses to see the world since grade 6. After both eyes were done I could instantly see an improvement. The 40 minute drive to the follow up appointment the next day was quite emotional for me as I could clearly see and read everything. I am just so amazed by all of this and it has changed my life forever. My only regret is not doing this sooner.

I had PRK laser surgery at TLC Mississauga 3 weeks ago. I have zero complaints with the service i received. Everyone was friendly and professional. The procedure itself was painless. Only thing i really felt was the thingy they used to keep my eyes open. Didn't hurt at all, just felt a little odd. So as i mentioned i had PRK , and i was really concerned about the post op pain\discomfort that i read about on the internet. To my surprise, i experienced zero pain after the procedure. I mean ZERO. I went home after the procedure and just slept until the next day, woke up expecting some pain and nada. I didnt even use the pain drops or the percocet they gave me. The only challenging part of the recovery is the fact that you cant see very well for a while. First few days its like you are under water with your eyes open. It gradually gets better, i am three weeks post op and i still have good and bad moments with the vision. That is to be expected and i am not concerned. My PRK advice, try and spend the first day or two sleeping as much as possible. Seemed to do the trick for me. Thanks TLC!

Had my consultation before covid hit and was delayed 3 months. TLC let me know promptly that they were closing until they could reopen after the government said they could. Afterwards, they called me in and scheduled my operation right after they could open. The staff and doctors were very knowledgeable and friendly. They understood that I nervous and help me through the whole thing with a smile on their face. After the operation, my eyes were great. 1 week later and I'm back to normal. Just listen and do what the documents and doctors say and everything will turn out the way it should.

My surgery was stopped part way through because of an issue, which I understand is beyond their control and appreciate that safety is critical. I was not impressed with the service I received after that point, I had to wait alone and pretty shaken up for 20 minutes without much explanation of what had happened before they told me I would have to come back next week. At least three people including the surgeon told me (and my husband when he came in to get me) that I would come back next week to finish the procedure, and to call them back after I had processed all of the information. I was just relieved thinking that after so much lead up and a stressful attempt at surgery it could be resolved within a week. When the office called to book in my new appointment (which took over 24 hours from the first call we made to them wanting to rebook as soon as we got home), I was told I would have to wait at least 2 weeks to do the procedure. No way they could accommodate me unless someone else happens to cancel. The stars I’m giving are because some of the staff were truly trying their best to comfort me through all of this and for that I’m grateful. It just felt like they didn’t have a protocol in place for the scenario and nobody was communicating. After my first experience in surgery, this is not exactly something I am looking to draw out over the next few weeks or months. All of the mixed messaging about the plan moving forward made this whole thing very confusing and stressful. I’m not sure if I will go back.

I had an excellent experience with TLC in Oakville. The night before my surgery, I came here to read reviews which completely eased my nerves. I’m hoping to do the same for someone else! The procedure was so quick and painless! A little pressure but no pain at all. My surgeon was Dr. Dean Smith - he was excellent! He answered all my questions and walked me through the entire process as he was correcting my vision. Immediately after surgery, I could see perfectly. My eyes felt a little heavy but after a 2 hour nap, they felt completely normal. Remember to stick to your eye drop schedule, very important! 1 day post-op I was seeing 20/20 and 1 week post op I was seeing 20/15. Absolutely worth it, and for those of you who are afraid, don’t be! You’ll wish you did it sooner when it’s all over. A special shout out to Dr. Anu Ondhia - she’s been fantastic with answering all my questions, pre and post-op. She even followed up with me the day after surgery to make sure everything was okay. Patty and Sylvia were excellent too. The team at TLC is truly fantastic! Thanks again everyone!

My whole experience was wonderful with TLC. After a referral from my optometrist, they got me in quickly, arranged tests quickly, and fixed my cataracts perfectly. I was pretty scared about the procedure but each eye was 10-15 mins, no pain, and my vision correction was immediate. My 19 year old son had LASIK Eye Surgery on Aug. 22, 2019. During his consultation appointment the week prior, the staff went above and beyond to make sure that he felt comfortable and understood everything that was going to happen to him on surgery day. The day of the surgery went as planned with a few tests and a short wait time. During the follow up appointment the day after his LASIK, his vision tested at 20/20. My optometrist recommended me to TLC's for my cataract surgery for both the eyes at the same time. I was told that it will be done safely. My appointed was slated for Nov. 17, 2020 for various eye tests. The optometrist at TLC, after examining me confirmed that the surgery will be done by the Surgeon of my preference. They gave me an invoice with all the details of the cost for lenses and test charges which came to $5,900 The date of the surgery was fixed for Jan.20, 2021. One week before surgery TLC's representative called for confirmation and said the surgery would be done by another Surgeon, (not the one I requested) on Jan 20, 2021. This was a surprise to me. I called back and asked TLC why am I being operated by a different surgeon, they couldn't explain the mix-up, finally the surgery was postponed to another date with the Surgeon of my preference. On the stipulated date Jan.26, I reached TLC on time for the surgery. After waiting in the lounge few minutes before the surgery I was ushered into a consulting room and told that they will be doing a Laser surgery and not 'Blade' as decided earlier. This will cost me $2400 extra. After two months of advance testing TLC informs me about this, and that too few minutes before the surgery, that I will be going under 'Laser'. The Surgeon comes and explains the medical terminology which a lay man like me couldn't follow. This put me in total confusion and out of urgency I had to say "yes go ahead with the Laser." I would also like to mention that the Lenses implanted were not as per the invoice given earlier. I came out of the consulting room signed and paid the exuberant charges and within few minutes I was operated. The total amount I paid is $7800 (as compared to 5,900 earlier) This was total negligence on the part of TLC as Laser was not recommended earlier. I am totally disappointed with the service I received from TLC. Laser is a rip-off. I would request patients to "be aware of what TLC tells you in the beginning and ask relevant questions before your surgery and see that they stand by what they say.

Had my surgery (full-custom Lasik), it was far lass scary than one would expect when a doctor is cutting into your eye. The staff are all wonderful, they make you feel comfortable and are sure to keep checking on you throughout the process. Good, clear instructions on what I needed to do before and after surgery and the day of were given and I have healed up nicely. I have already recommended this center to a couple of my coworkers. As for the actual surgery results and recovery: Day of, go home and sleep, don't watch tv or read it anything else, give your eyes a break. Try to do this for a few days at least. I suggest to take an extra day or two off from work if you work with a computer or where it's important that your vision is precise, not because your vision will be bad necessarily but eye strain and the headache that comes with it has been a bit of a problem. I know there are rare cases where the results aren't as expected but I have been lucky thus far.

My initial online consultation fully explained the entire process, and answered any other questions I had (shout-out Audrine). TLC staff were professional and informative. My surgeon was Dr. Dean Smith. He explained each step during the eye surgery and the whole thing lasted for about 10 minutes both eyes. I did end up having a complication due to the pressure of the suction cups which holds the eyes in position. The pressure was too much that it caused bruising on my right eye; which now has swelling and lots of discomfort due to the bruising. apparently nothing we can do until the bruise heals on it’s own either a week or longer. I was recommended to TLC for their years of experience and precision but I am disappointed that this happened. I am now still wearing my sunglasses and experiencing discomfort as long as my eyes are open. My left eye on the contrary is fine. Ideally I should have been okay the next day of surgery and it’s post op day 4 with ongoing discomfort.

This was the best experience of my life I have waited 25 years to be able to see with my own eyes and now because of TLC I can everyone was amazing and very professional but very personal and I would recommend this to anyone who is able to qualify I am so happy it was so nice to have Michelle to come back and check on me after my surgery like I said best experience and it's been a week and my eyes are working amazing yayaya for 20/20 vision
