By far the best experience I've had with an optometrist - beginning to end. I came in on short notice with a broken pair of glasses that were beyond repair. They worked with my schedule to get me in quickly and got me the glasses in record time! I purchased two designer pairs, one with the blue light blocking lenses that were supposed to take 3 days, and I got them both the NEXT afternoon. They went way beyond the call of duty and provided me an amazing customer experience through a very stressful time. Dr Mao was thorough with his exam and very patient, and Corinne was extremely helpful and truly went above and beyond for me. I'll certainly be going back hopefully without tape and sticky tack holding my glasses together!

Absolutely a wonderful experience with both the Dr. Mao and his staff. So professional, my appointment was on time. The doctor answered my questions and explained my ageing eyes and what I could expect from bifocal contacts. I also ordered glasses with a protective tint for my on-line use. Corrine was very helpful and informative helping me choose frame choices. The service from their lens supplier was quick as well. I will send any family /friend to visit Dr. Mao's office no hesitation at all.

Dr. Mao gets a 5 of 5 star rating for his careful testing, not once, but twice tested me to ensure his accuracy. His secretary gets 1 1/2 stars because she was rude on the phone and in person, treating me like an insignificant object that was annoying her and interfering with her ability to get her paperwork done. Lastly, I would give Corrine, the optician, a 2 1/2 star rating. Though she was very friendly and accommodating, she made too many errors, from choosing the wrong frames for me to choose from, to not ensuring the proper coatings were on my glasses. It took me three months before I had a pair of glasses that were functional. Sorry to say, but I won't be returning.

This is the best eye care I have received over the many years of eye exams and prescription glasses. I am 63 years young and I have started to have problems whereby I need bifocals and the prescription does change as I get older. Dr Mao is very good and quite personable. The convenience of having the Ivey Eye Institute right down the hall from Dr Mao’s office is a real time saver. I also take my mother there for her eye care as well. My contact broke and once it did, I found out I had to pay $500 for the one contact lense even though I paid $680 for the TWO! it makes no sense, they just dont listen to reason and the secretary is very rude about it and only cares that you pay or leave her alone.

My experience at the Ivy Eye Institute was incredibly positive. Dr. Mao's expertise was evident from the moment that he began my eye examine. He determined that although I had gone almost forty-five years without glasses I did needed to begin wearing them. After he had written my prescription Corinne, the Dispensary Manager was very patient and a tremendous help in selecting my frames. This was my first visit to Dr. Mao's office. I had been having a lot of issues with my prescriptions from my previous optometrist over the past few years, so I thought I would try a new optometrist. I was able to get in for an appointment within a week and Dr. Mao shared information regarding my eye health that I had not been made aware of previously. He provided solutions for my dry eye issue and after my exam provided me with a new prescription for glasses. He then referred me to his assistant who helped me select new glasses, properly fitted them, and advised me that they would be ready for pick-up in a week. His receptionist provided my dry eye supplies and educated me on how to use them. All of this took only about an hour and I feel I gained more knowledge and awareness about my eye health and which glasses suited me best, in that time, than I ever had previously. Dr. Mao and his team exhibited a high level of knowledge and professionalism, and made me feel very welcomed. I highly recommend this office.

I want to share my story with a staff member here. I suddenly started seeing floaters in my eyes. I called several eye doctors' offices but they just told me that they do not accept a new patient or they are fully booked (even though I explained my symptom). When I almost gave up finding a doctor (and I had no idea about how serious my symptoms are), the staff here suggests me to go to the urgent care at St. Joseph. It turns out that I had several retina tears, which can lead to blindness. I got a surgery on the day when I visited the urgent care. Without you (sorry, I do not know your name), I may lose my life. I cannot thank you enough!!!

My sister recommended this place to me but I'm never going back because it was the most frustrating experience ever. It took them TWO MONTHS to order a sample of contact lenses for me, even though I told them I needed them ASAP because I was leaving the country soon. By the time they called me to tell me they were finally in, I had already gone to another optometrist, tried on various samples, and purchased my contacts. They lack communication skills, disregard client satisfaction, and not to mention that the secretary was rude when I called to ask about the status of my contacts. I would not recommend this place whatsoever, unless you want to deal with headaches and frustrations.

He sat patiently and listened to what I had to say. He asked me questions to confirm that he'd understood my needs correctly and after I was done explaining, he did some tests and arrived at a solution for me. You get an email reminder of your appointment, that you can use to confirm that you will be there. There is also a follow-up email to let you know to contact them if you have any questions. I was also sent reading material that they thought I might be interested in due to my family history. Dr. Mao makes you feel very relaxed during your appointment. He has a very calm, soft-spoken manner. My mother also sees Dr. Mao and has nothing but nice things to say about he, and his staff. Corrine helped me pick out my last frames. She picked 15-20 frames that she thought would suit me then helped me narrow down the choice to the ones I have now. I have never been to the office where I have not felt they were genuinely glad to see me and have always left with a smile on my face.

I would highly recommend Dr. Mao! It was refreshing to visit a practicing optometrist with ophthalmologic training and awareness of complex eye issues. He was very friendly and took the time to ask me about the functional impact of my visual impairment, and explore how to better adapt to vision changes. Dr. Mao and his staff were also familiar with Assistive Devices Program, which was helpful, and knowledge of funding programs like this is rare to find in an optometrists’ office. Both Shania and Jacqueline are also very knowledgeable and welcoming. Overall, it was a great experience and I will be going back!

I was referred to Dr. Mao by my previous optometrist after being involved in a motor vehicle accident which left me with some substantial vision issues. Dr. Mao's experience and expertise has allowed me to live a normal life again. He is very thorough with my examinations and takes the time to ensure that my prescriptions are just right. Dr. Mao's staff are also very helpful. I take comfort knowing that I will be dealing with the same enthusiastic people each time I call or come in. Booking an appointment is always quick, and easy, and Toni is very friendly. Corinne has been most helpful with ensuring my lenses are ordered correctly, and notifies me as soon as they come in. I never have to worry about calling in for a follow-up. She is also absolutely fantastic at selecting and sizing frames. Until coming to Dr. Mao's office, I dreaded choosing frames. I could never find anything that both looked nice and felt comfortable. I now leave those decisions to Corinne, and never have I had a regret. I was also quite surprised by the prices of their frames. I've purchased frames from other optometrists before, and even now with requiring a more specialized prescription, I still pay less than I did before. Needless to say, when my son started Kindergarten last year, I brought him in to see Dr. Mao, and he now wears a cute pair of glasses to school.

I had a foreign body in my eye for 2 days, and was trying to tough it out, but several of my coworkers suggested that I see if Dr. Mao could help me.
