Ivey eye institute is the best eye care Institute in London ! Staff and service are also excellent. Special thanks to Dr. Stephanie and Dr. Michael who treated my eyes in only 2 days, before that I've visited 2 clinics and 1 hospital. It was a great experience and 100% results. They try their best of abilities. Thank you so much for your service and support.

The care here is phenomenal. Now that the renovations are completed to the building, it is easy to navigate as well.

Last Friday I drove my 90 year old father to the Ivy eye institute to see Dr. Gonder after having tests done two weeks prior. Our appointment was for 12:45 and we arrived at reception at 11:30 AM.After we registered, we proceeded to the doctor's registration and the secretary advised us to have a seat. At 3PM we were still sitting so I asked the secretary if the doctor had forgotten us. She advised he was very busy but would see us soon. At 4:00 I spoke to the secretary again. She said the doctor was very busy but my father was next to see the doctor. I asked her why we would have a 12:45 appointment and not see the doctor for several hours later. Abruptly she advised that his optician was advised that it could be a 2 or 3 hour wait. Firstly, the optician did not tell us but regardless, why make us an appointment only to sit there for 2 or 3 hours? When my father did get in to see the doctor it was a 5 minute visit. What is this, is our time not as important as the doctor, is the hospital in cahoots with the parking authority? What is this all about? Had I been an hourly employee look at what it would have cost in addition to the $11.00 parking fee.Why do doctors book appointments and make the patient wait an hour or more to get in to see the physician? I understand an emergency can come up and delay the doctor but that is not something that happens on a regular basis. Again I ask is our time not worth as much as the doctor?

**UPDATE** I have seen Dr Hodge and had surgery 2 weeks ago. Everything is going very well. Dr Hodge was great. UPDATE.... I went back to my optometrist and had them send an urgent referral over. I have an appointment for Oct 9 with Dr Hodge. I could give 0 stars, I would. I seen an optometrist last September and had a referral sent over to Dr. Nichols. I had an appointment scheduled for the end of June for my first appointment to happen. Because of covid my appointment was cancelled and not rescheduled. I woke up two weeks ago and am not able to see in my left eye at all. Upon calling I've, they told me I could not see them as I officially never had an appt and to go into urgent care. When I got to urgent care the nurse called up to the eye clinic and they got me in for an appointment. I spoke with the resident doctor who told me to resend in a referral for Dr. Proulx as Dr Nichol is retiring from the hospital and Dr. Proulx has emergency appointments and I would be able to be seen in a month or two as my cataract had advanced too severely and I needed to get in right away. I called to have my referral sent back over and then called the clinic. The secretary I spoke told me that there is a 2 year waitlist to see Dr. Proulx and said that they weren't going to see me. How does this happen? I am not even 50 years old and the doctor I'm supposed to see is retiring. How do you just leave patients like this or another doctor not take over those files of people waiting to be seen! I was told by the secretary to go see a private doctor instead. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else as I don't have coverage and now have to pay out of pocket to get vision back in my eye.

I had an appointment this week with Dr.Bursztyn and I was very satisfied with the experience. Currently you enter through entrance 1 to be screened for Covid rather than entrance 2 just as an fyi. Dr.Bursztyn was professional, informative and friendly as were all the staff. I also had to use the blood lab and imaging department and there was virtually no wait for either process. The staff in those areas were great as well - I'm sure the last few months have added a lot of stress to their jobs but you wouldn't guess that from how supportive they are. We are truly fortunate to have a medical system in Canada like this.

Dr. Anderson from the Ivey Eye Institute is an impeccable, exemplary and dedicated Retinal surgeon who had performed my surgery for retinal detachment. You can completely feel safe under him and his team's care. He patiently answered all my questions and gave me viable options that was tailored to suit my condition. The surgical staff was very friendly and professional, they went above and beyond to make me at ease. I like to personally appreciate his staff members: Dr. Gaya, Mandeep and Heyli. Last but not least the surgical team that includes Dr. Catalina Casas, Jessica and the rest of the team. Thank you all for your dedication and teamwork.

I enjoyed my experience today with Dr. Hooper and his associates - Sherry and Wendy (if I remember correctly). Very pleasant and friendly ladies, made me feel very welcomed and comfortable throughout the whole process. Everything was explained to me in great details and I didn’t have to worry about a thing! Dr. Hooper is a professional, gave me great insights and a better understanding of my current condition. Definitely recommend Ivey Eye Institute!

The Ivey Eye institute is amazing. The Doctors and staff here are amazing. They are patient and kind with the kids and take the time to explain everything to the parents. Your children's eyes are in great hands here. It would be awesome if they had mobile clinics in several other cities as many people travel some distance to get here.

I was checked in at 12:30 p.m. and called to be visited by a physician almost immediately. It was very good up to this point! However, I was asked to take off my clothes and wear the hospital gown in a room and wait there. I waited till 2:00 p.m. and nobody came to visit me. Finally, I wore my own cloths and left the clinic. When I complained about this delay, I was told this is a routine! In the worst case, when no physician was available, they could have asked me to sit in the waiting room with my own clothes. P.S. when I read the previous review, I found that I was right in leaving there at 2:00 p.m.; otherwise, I should have waited till 5 or 6 p.m. !!!

Although he works at St Joseph’s Dr. Hodge failed to follow Ivey Eye Institute Protocol and inform me of the cataract lens OHIP options available to me if I chose surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Instead he tried to direct me to have surgery at a private clinic, the Anjema Clinic in Chatham for extra fees ($890 per eye). I have submitted a detailed complaint of potential fraud and medical malpractice against Dr. Hodge to St. Joseph’s, the College of Surgeons (COS) and OHIP. If any cataract patient has been sent by Hodge to a private clinic and question the information they were provided , I suggest they contact Patient Relations at St. Joseph’s.

I had previously been seen Dr. Merchea at the Ivy Eye Institute for Stribismus which I have had since 2016 & is continually getting worse...& I am getting scared! ????. I didn't feel like he was very attentive or caring so I switched to Dr. Makar. Here it is - 3 years later, yet still I have no clue or reassurance that I will ever get the much needed corrective surgery, as my sight deteriorates more & more. I do like Dr. Makar yet there is something terribly amiss when repeated phone calls are ignored by her secretary TO THIS DAY. Since my last appt at the hospital, I don't understand why I was told to bring my new Rx. lenses Dr. Makar said I would be wearing when I came out of surgery? (which cost well over $500.00) They're useless to me - even after I was told no surgery yet & a corrective patch was stuck on my right lens to try & make them "wearable". *Perhaps they don't consider that the average person can barely afford 1 pair of glasses, let alone 2 or more when their sight is constantly changing/declining? Before l left that day, I asked the secretary about the surgery schedule & again she lied saying she would call me the next month when the new surgery schedule was provided to her - it was probably just to get me to leave, & here I am, still waiting since - and wondering? What is happening, even after calling Dr. Makar's secretary numerous times and not getting ANY callbacks? The answering machine picks up & her msg says that calls are not normally returned during clinic days - so WHEN THE HECK DO YOU RETURN YOUR CALLS? EVER?? Just Excuses. In one instance the secretary even lied twice directly to the doctor to cover her a** (I WAS THERE).Dr. Makar was questionig her ability....

Out of 18 years medical experience in Canada, I had a terrible experience with Dr Bo Li. He gave me only positive aspects of an operation in the beginning. After I spent all the pre-op expenses and waited for months, he was questioning why I had to do surgery with bearing risk and necessity.

Phyllis Beever

I received excellent care from Dr. Hooper and staff. I thought there might be some delay in my retina surgery since I lived in the United States. However, I was examined almost immediately. My surgery went quickly and was successful. I am very impressed and grateful for the excellent treatment I received.

Ivey is great! They treated me for two emergencies and have nothing but praise for how I was handled. For the people complaining about having to wait - did you ever stop to think it is because they are so busy everyone wants to use them? It's not always just about you. Would you rather wait and get world class treatment or speed through a clinic with no patients because they have such a poor reputation? Nobody like waiting but it's a fact of life, deal with it.

Larry Griffith

I was looked after in a pleasant manner. Very pleased!

Tim Walker

The professionalism and care of the staff is outstanding, my appointments have been on time, most problems with eyes is a little scary but the doctors and nurses took time to put you at ease and explain what was happening. A big thank you to everyone there.

Doctors and Staff are great! Its the patients... When you come to ivey eye institute be prepared to spend HOURS... Just is what it is... They have emergencies and surprise procedures if required to that patient.. Patients need to understand that and be prepared to sit for extended periods of time. . and that staff dont need to hear you complain about that.. They are here to help you... Take a deep breath... Come prepared... Relax

My 2 year old son saw dr.sharan for the first time last year. she ended up doing a double eye muscle surgery on my son when he was a year old which turned out great. Her staff is wonderful and pleasant to talk to. Great with kids. We have appointments every few months and havnt really had to wait very long. We actually had an appointment today. We were there and gone in less then an hour. Which is amazing for 2 different exams with a toddler. The play room is a godsend. No complaints at all.
