Due to a concussion I was having issues with light sensitivity / blurred and double vision which would cause a lot of fatigue and dizziness in my day to day life. Thankfully I met Dr. Jefferies and her team who put together a plan of in office Vision Therapy as well as an at home exercise program. I am very pleased with the results I had over the six month period I was under Dr. Jefferies care and would highly recommend anyone who may be experiencing lingering concussion symptoms to go and have an assessment!

This place has poor time management amongst the staff and chalk full of false promises. I was told my glasses would take 4 days to get lenses put in. Ok, left work early on the 4th day. Glasses were not ready, but I was assured that they would definitely be ready the first day back after the long weekend (this is 2 weeks already). Took work off early again, and lo and behold they were not ready, and the front desk lady was upset that I was even promised a timeline. I came back a third time, and wasn't even acknowledged for a solid 10 minutes, where there wasn't even any customers in the office. Oh and frames + lenses are easy $800-$1000. Online for me was under $150 in total. Probably not the staffs fault overall, but maybe at least don't make multiple false promises and waste my time.

During the pandemic shut down I ordered some new sunglasses from Ottawa Valley Vision. I absolutely love them!! They came quite quickly and the quality is fantastic The lense are crystal clear and they fit my face perfectly. They looked exactly how they were displayed on the website which was refreshing. I had a great experience here! I was able to get an appointment the same day that I called. On first impression, the office is very clean, modern and well maintained. All the staff were very nice, helpful and professional. Dr. Jefferies provided me with an eye exam and contact lense fitting at a very reasonable price of $150. The eye exam was very straightforward and I was treated with respect. They have a large variety of glasses for sale here as well, with different options with lense thickness and type. They also have a website for those who want to order online. However, I decided to order new glasses elsewhere since I am picky. Out of the 6+ optometrists I've seen, this experience may have been the best! I highly recommend Ottawa Valley Vision to anyone who needs an eye examination.

We brought our son here because of Dr Jefferies’ fantastic reputation specializing in vision therapy with children and adults. She’s truly fantastic - explains things so well and clearly for us to understand and able to answer all of our recurring questions. Our son feels comfortable and opens up with her and is now on a great path - this clinic is perfect if you have children with any vision issues and is highly recommended as a first stop for children’s eye exams (and all covered by OHIP!). I came back to choose my own prescription glasses and sunglasses. They have a fantastic selection of high quality and cool frames, including flexible and sturdy selections for children (Nano, Milo & Me). Adult frames are super cool and high quality with unique brands you are unlikely to find elsewhere in the valley (Lightec, Moleskin, Nature Eyes, Flying Eyes and Maui Jim). I love the Flying Eyes frames which are super comfortable with very thin arms - ideal for wearing under a helmet or radio headset or ear defenders (pilots, construction, industrial, military) and provide ballistic protection. We are so happy to have found this place! What a great resource for Pembroke, Petawawa and the Valley!

After seeing Dr Jefferies, she explained that he needed vision therapy and a prescription to help. I called OVV when I was hit in the face by a tree branch. The branch left a small piece of wood in my cornea and also scratched my cornea. The team at OVV saw me within an hour of the event, and took great care in removing the object as well as providing timely medical treatment. They saw me for a number of days after to check on the health of my eye, each day providing amazing care and attention. I cannot recommend them enough for emergency treatment; go to the experts if you have an emergency eye issue! They are professional and personable. Their office is gorgeous as well!

I highly recommend Ottawa Valley Vision for anyone suffering with post concussion symptoms. The vision therapy program that Dr. Jefferies offers is top notch! They are great with the little one's as well. My 6 year old actually had FUN at his first vision appointment.

Doctor Jefferies' and her team have given me my life back. I sustained a concussion a year and a half ago, and I struggled to return to my previous level of functioning. I have made significant gains in my sessions with Janet. I no longer experience headaches or extreme cognitive fatigue. I am also better able to edit my writing. As a bonus, my eyeglass prescription is better than it was before the concussion. I truly believe this was a worthwhile endeavour!

I'd heard that she had a very different approach with patients (of all ages and stages) and really appreciated her kindness, sincerity, patience and honesty. She is exceptionally thorough. Her devotion to her profession and patient-wellness in most evident when you see the tremendous investment she's made in her education and small business. Awful service. Every time I come in I have to wait over 30 minutes even thought I had an appointment. They promised me they price match for Costco so I got an estimate on my glasses and they were almost $600. Went to Costco and I paid $190. I’ve also called 6 times in the past seven days and every time I get the machine even if it’s during the hours of operation. I’ve left two messages and have yet to be called back. Honestly the doctor is really nice but don’t buy from here.

Dr. Maione is incredibly kind, patient and knowledgable; she took the time to explain the various tests she was performing and the reasons for doing them- this really helps puts kids at ease in the exam room. Dr. Jefferies was also helpful with helping us choose and order quality sunglasses to fit my kids and their active lifestyles. Each of the team members we have encountered has been so pleasant. The location is fantastic (central Pembroke), the atmosphere is fresh and welcoming and there is a vast selection of unique frames you won't find anywhere else in the valley.

I can't say enough how thankful I am to have Dr. Jefferies as our eye doctor. While the whole family sees her, my 4 year old son sees her the most. Upon his initial visit, when he was nearly three, she diagnosed him as needing glasses in what felt like 30 seconds of our appointment. He goes for check ups frequently and she is always so patient and kind with my wiggly busy and somewhat anxious fella. The in office optical shop has a great selection of durable kids glasses and orders my son special lenses that are perfect for his condition. I wouldn't buy him glasses any where else. They are prompt to answer emails and Dr. Jefferies always makes time to answer my questions in office, on the phone or through email. So glad to have found such a great vision centre for my family.

Ottawa Valley Vision has helped me through not one, not two, but three concussions, treating each injury with more tenacity and compassion than the last. I wish I could rate higher than 5 stars. My son was having very significant reading issues. We had been to multiple optometrists, specialists, tutors, etc with no answers and nothing seemed to work. Ottawa Valley Vision not only were able to pin point the problem, they started him on a 40 week vision therapy program. By the end of the 40 weeks he had improved almost 4 grade levels in his reading. I am still in shock with how much they were able to help him and the rapid, significant improvements he had with his reading.

I experienced double vision after a concussion in October 2014. When the vision did not correct itself, I was referred to Dr. Jefferies. Dr. Jefferies asked me to do a battery of tests to help assess my condition. As it turned out, the concussion was not only responsible for the double vision but also the ability for my eyes to track correctly. As you can imagine, these combined issues made it impossible to focus - impacting every aspect of my life including my ability to work and drive. The visual impairment also exasperated other concussion symptoms, including: fatigue, headaches, nausea and balance. Dr. Jefferies became a key player in my recovery. The concussion and my symptoms were completely bewildering to me. Dr. Jefferies was calm, reassuring and thorough. She took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. I didn't feel rushed. I felt very cared for. Prism glasses with inclusions along with vision therapy were recommended to address the double vision and tracking issues. I cannot tell you how relieved I felt when I put on those glasses. The vision therapy was not easy and it was expensive. It often exasperated my symptoms. There were lots and lots of home exercises to perform. It was grueling on so many levels, but it was worth it. I now have my vision back and that has been key to my overall recovery. I cannot recommend Dr Jefferies enough. In terms of technique, I think she is one of the best, but it is her kind and caring nature that makes her outstanding.
