Dr. Snow was amazing, very personable and kind. Not too mention he took my confusion of vision loss seriously, he believed my concerns and looked further into it. He caught that my retina was detaching and sent an emergency referral to a specialist. I got a call from them the same day and few days later, I was having surgery. Thank you for saving my vision!!!

I haven’t been this impressed in a long, long time. Every facet of my experience at FYi was incredible, and I have to commend the entire staff. My glasses recently broke, and after calling about 10 different places FYi was able to get me in the quickest by far: next day. Little did I know just how lucky I was, this is the best eye care I’ve ever received. The receptionist was super helpful and cheery, the tech guided me through all the tests quickly but thoroughly, explaining everything well, and made me very comfortable. Dr. Snow was a total breath of fresh air, no pretension at all, professional but jovial, took his time going over everything and even going far beyond by doing extra tests on things long forgotten - and he had great sense of humour, which actually goes for all the staff and was my favourite thing about this place. Everyone was happy and relaxed. Finally Christine nailed exactly the frames I was looking for, even though I’m super picky and was convinced I wouldn’t find what I was looking for - and the best part: my glasses will be ready for pick up the next day because she does the lenses and knew I was in a jam!! Literally 2 days from booking to wearing. Service doesn’t get better than this, and my family won’t be going anywhere else for their eye care. Huge fan!

This office has amazing customer service. The receptionist was super nice, and welcoming, as were the others. Dr. Ojanpera was really helpful, and professional, answering any questions or concerns i may have had. Very impressed with the Shelbourne location!

I came here 3 years ago & was told I needed progressive lenses for my glasses. I was hesitant (due to the hefty price) but proceeded to follow the doctors orders. I came back a year later & was told my sunglasses NEEDED progressive lenses as well. I was confused but again, I was unaware & followed what I had been told. I went to a different eye doctor today & also sent my optometrist friend my prescription from the past, and both parties were shocked I was even offered progressive lenses. I do not need them by any means & my eye doctor overcharged me twice for lenses I do not even require for my vision. I’m extremely disappointed to hear this & upset over the fact that I have spent so much money on lenses that I did not even require in the first place. I don’t know how this is even allowed or possible but three years later I am shaking my head at myself for being unaware and feeling taken advantage of by the optometrist. Not pleased.

I like them all. The doctors and techs are all easy to talk to and listen to your concerns and explain things well. I keep going back and they keep updating their equipment. The stuff is getting really amazing. This last time in Jan 2017 they did a scan of the back of my eyes which shows a side view cross section profile of the shape back there. I instantly knew why I am beginning to have a little blurriness.

Outstanding customer service! I experienced a problem with a pair of sunglasses related to the lenses that I had purchased at the Brandon, Manitoba location. Now living in BC, I called the Brandon location and explained what was going on. The manager suggested that for convenience, I visit the Shelbourne location in Victoria, BC. Imagine my surprise when I went to the Shelbourne location and they knew my name, were expecting me, and were obviously very willing to assist me. I have a fairly expensive prescription, and this, coupled with the higher index and the coatings that I prefer, make my glasses a significant investment. Although the warranty period had expired, the technician immediately phoned the supplier and reviewed the issue with them. A complete lens replacement was provided at no cost to me. The service was cheerfully and professionally delivered, and I could not have been more pleased. I will be an FYI customer for life!

PROS - Correct prescription. - Online booking available, and appointments are prompt. - Patient staff who deal well with disabled patients. - Modern enough that they understand the necessity of technology in most people's lives and won't suggest "less screen time." CONS - I was essentially scolded by one of the optometrists when I said I would be purchasing my lenses online. - Related to that, they're very pushy about trying to get you to purchase your glasses from them and seem to under the impression that just about anyone can shell out $100+ for glasses (that was with my insurance). CONCLUSION: Perfectly fine if you're middle class, I'd imagine, but if you're lower class, I would not recommend it. Walmart Optometry takes longer to get an appointment, but they're much less pushy and more understanding of poverty.

I have been a customer here for at least 20 years. I have taken all three of my children there as well since the age of 3. I am so pleased with the reliable, courteous and convenient service as well as the caring staff. I don't have the easiest kids in the world, and the staff are very patient helping them through each test. My middle son has glasses and there is never a problem stopping by to have them adjusted or cleaned. He's broken them a few times and they are always covered under warranty. Great value for our money and I can rest assured knowing my kids are getting the best care possible. I tried getting a pair of glasses from Costco for myself because they are so much cheaper... in the long run, I couldn't use the glasses because they were so poorly made. I learned my lesson!

I came to this location a year and a half ago, I still get compliments on how well my frames match my face thanks to Heather's suggestions and help picking them out. I've since moved but will seek out a FYI doctors in my new city when I go for an examination in a few months.

I found my experience here to be less than satisfactory. The eye exam was fine, but they somehow couldn't get contact lenses for my prescription despite trying multiple times, nothing worked. I could actually see better without the contacts. There were also major delays on getting the contacts in the first place - they even sent them back to the manufacturer without telling me they were there to be picked up. Don't really like the $150 "Contact Lense Training Fee" especially because I didn't end up with contacts that worked for me. I also found their sales lady to be a bit pushy. Going somewhere else now.

Coming up to ONE MONTH to get one lens fixed. After phoning the Colwood branch, Joanne said they came back, 9 days ago, with the wrong lens fixed. I took them in Sept 28th; today is Oct 15. Did I get a call to say they would be delayed in getting back to me? No. Would I know what is taking so long if I didn't call, myself? No. Am I a valued customer (after 10+ years)? Hell, no. Finally, how does an unbroken lens get fixed and a broken lens remain unfixed. Answer me, that! Uncaring, incompetent. Done with them.

The entire eye exam experience was top notch from the initial exam with Dr. Morrison who explained fully the beginning of the cataract blurry vision issue and all surrounding measures that can be taken to ensure good vision into the future. A week later new lens were ready for fitting by Christine. I really appreciated all the data she provided as I was concerned about what the future held for my sight. Doctors are fine, most of the staff are fine, but a few people ruined this place for me. The few times I visited here, the lack of communication between doctors and the people who find prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses is evident. Many times I was asked to come back again because a vital information was forgotten and many times when the person who I hadn't directly spoken to was off, they didn't leave a note, meaning the people who were helping me didn't know what I was there for. Specifically speaking I didn't like the attitude of Hailey or Heather or who it was with an H name who was very rude to me. I'd rather pay 100 dollars more for glasses or contact lenses than here.

My family (four of us, all with glasses) have been to several other eye glass places in town and these guys are the best! Everything from the product to the service is awesome. They are professional, courteous, and all around great to deal with. I was specially impressed with how they took care of my kids. Not even a question of where we are going for our next appointment and glasses.

She also ordered in a pair of sunglasses so I could try them on, and she was right. They are perfect. Shout out to Hughey for giving her opinion. I've been going to this clinic for close to 10 years. I don't see myself going anywhere else.

I have been seeing Dr. Chris Snow for yearly eye exams for more than a decade. He is a very skilled clinician who is unfailingly professional, friendly, thorough and helpful. He and his partners have developed a wonderful computer database that allows easy comparison of various optometric test results collected on patients across the years. It is refreshing to see clinical data collected so completely and effectively used to support decision making. Mention needs to be made of the technical staff in the clinic. They, too, are skilled, friendly and helpful. A shout-out goes to Christine who, over the years, has been particularly helpful to me in finding glasses frames that are light and comfortable. She is always there when my frames need adjustment or repair. My appreciation to all the members comprising the FYI clinic. Highly recommended.

So I have nystagmus which is my eyes are moving and I can't focus on things easily. I went to this location for an eye exam however people were so uneducated they tried to take my eyes pictures but the person kept asking why can't you focus on??? Then she called another person to help and this person was trying to hold my head open my eyes with her hand... I was so frustrated. I literally have trauma after this visit. If people are working at the eye clinic maybe need to educate themselves for different cases. I don't recommend this place at all.

I was late for my appointment by 30 minutes and the lady at the front was more than understanding and immediately scheduled another appointment for me. I then came in for my appointment and was welcomed with a smile and patience when I had to call my bank to transfer money. I am blanking on her name as I write this review but I am very happy I came to this location and thankful for all the help and patience she provided!

Thank you Hughena for your great service. You rose to the challenge of my vanity saying the frames you carry are very conservative. Then you found the amazing Hugo Boss frames! They were damaged and you had them replaced in a very short time. Great communication on all fronts from calling for appointment, the exam and the follow up.
