Very disappointed in the overall experience at Dr. Kaplan’s Kenaston office. Have been dealing with them for 4 months. I changed insurance providers and according to their(the providers) website, this office/the optometry place beside them direct bill to my new provider.
Upon calling it was explained very clearly that while contacts and glasses were handled through the optometry place next door(LensCrafters) that my initial exam is not billable directly. Only the contacts. Ok fine. So I booked and paid for the exam(which was on time and the ONLY good thing I have to report).
Afterwards I was told I would hear back in “a few days”. A MONTH goes by and I hear nothing. So I call them, and wouldn’t you know it .... due to some error on their part my contacts got sent to their other location across the city (even though no one from the other location contacted me either). They appeared to figure out the problem only when I called and I was told they would have them in store in a few days. Great. So I arranged to pick them up. Was then told I need yet another appointment for the fitting?! This a) was never relayed to me as what was going to be necessary and b) I’ve been wearing contacts for the last couple years with no issue, AND Dr. Kaplan saw them on my eyes already. Whatever, at least it didn’t cost anything.
The prescription was quite weak, and in the second appointment with a lady doctor, I made a comment that I thought it might be stronger on my prescription from another place. The lady who saw me the second time said not to worry and to try these new ones out to see how I liked them first. So I did, I strongly disliked the brand I got. And after about a week of trying to get used to them I went back and asked for a stronger prescription and a different brand(the one I had bought originally from a different clinic a couple years before). I was then told they would order me a stronger prescription as the second doctor had agreed it did not seem strong enough. But I would be given the same brand and asked to just try again.
So I do this. And I really tried. Had them for a couple of weeks. Tried to get used to them. No dice. They felt like film on my eye and dried out so quickly that the stuck to the inside of my eyelid. :/
Today, I brought my contact lense boxes in for my previous pairs and the prescription that was on them was significantly strongly. ( 5.5 instead of 4.5) and asked if I could please order these specific ones. Was told to come back later as she had to ask the doctor, I returned after about an hour or so, only to be told THEY DONT DIRECT BILL CONTACT LENSES. Literally this is the entire reason I even tried to use this clinic. I explicitly had this conversation TWICE in September to confirm they would direct Bill the contacts and was told yes, but NOT(and only not) the appointment.
Asked to speak to the office manager. Told there isn’t one. Of course not!
Do not waste your time with this clinic. No word of a lie every single step was mishandled, misinformation, zero apology for the last 4 months. Absolutely terrible service every step of the way and overall.
