Fantastic doctor with almost no waiting time when I went. Great experience. My doctor was very informative about how my eyes have changed and explained it with pretty easy terminology so that I understood what was going on. Edit: While Dr. Chris was great, I had some parts of an eye-test done by an assistant who forgot to do certain things, and did not seem as professional as I hoped she would be.

Our first experience was wonderful. They're all so patient and understanding. Dr. Waite was fantastic with my 3 year old.

2 hours and still waiting, unacceptable. If I'm 10 min late I have to rebook, 4 receptionists doing nothing, wouldn't have been too hard to make a phone call" hey were running a little behind can you come in later" . Obviously overbooked. Too bad.

I was sent here for an emergency booking, as my optometrist wanted to make sure I did not have a tear in my eye. They asked how quickly I could get there so I told them I would rush over, shouldn't take longer than 10 mins. When I got there it took over 10 mins to get checked in because all of the women working there just looked at me then ignored me, leaving me to stand at the desk hoping someone actually was working. After finally being admitted I sat for almost 3 hours waiting, til my ride(who was waiting outside the ENTIRE time) texted me to say we had to get going to pick up the children from school. I went back to the cubicle where all of the receptionists were just talking to see if I could reschedule the appointment. I was first told to "walk to the other side of the desk" so the woman in front of me could help me. So I walked to the other side, to which the woman, in who seemed upset that she had to talk to me, told me that I couldn't reschedule because this was an emergency. I told her why I had to leave, which seemed to aggravate her and she rudely says "Well what do you want me to do? You have to wait." I then said to her "I am just trying to reschedule because I cannot wait any longer. If I knew I would be waiting this long I would have made other arrangements." She then told me that there's no openings, anywhere for me, to which I just walked out. So thanks to this woman & her terrible attitude I had to sit with my ailment over the weekend. The women working at the front desk are a lawsuit waiting to happen. After reading some of the comments I would never recommend this place to anyone. The ppl at the front desk are inconsiderate, rude with absolutely no respect for anyone but themselves. If you're in need of help, go elsewhere.

I would like to say that the gentleman working in the glasses department is extremely rude! I went in to look at readers and I stood at the counter waiting the man did not acknowledge me, I said excuse me sir do you have any new readers? He said no and turned back to his computer, I said is Wanda in today and he replied no very blunt and turned back around!!!! I will not go back in there unless Wanda is working. I was so disappointed with the customer service!!!!

I was referred to Dr. Aaron Joe because of a complete retinal detachment. I first saw him after hours at the Kelowna General Hôspital. I was scared but Dr Joe treated me with empathy, professionalism and expertise. I was impressed with his bed side manner and technique. I have since suffered a second detachment. Dr Joe and his staff have been friendly, caring and professional. I highly recommend Dr Joe and his and his competent staff. I am so glad I was referred to this clinic. Thank you for saving my eyesight.

I've had an autoimmune disorder that affects my eyes for the past 20 years, so I've 'seen' some things (that's a little eye humor for ya) and this is a fantastic, well run office. I'm newish to BC's interior and have been so impressed with the empathy, knowledge and top notch care I've received here under Dr. Docherty and his assistants. I feel well taken care of at all times and advocated for. Receptionists and Drs Assistants are pleasant, polite, organized, and considerate. Office is clean and bright and even has Wifi if you can actually see your phone while you're waiting. They occasionally run behind, but that's the reality for most specialists and medical experts, so it's not a big deal to me. I used to allocate 3-5 hours in waiting and appointment time when I saw my specialists back east, and that is not the case *at all* here. The one time they did run behind, it was only by about an hour. If you're having an eye issues cross your fingers you get lucky enough to be referred to these folks.

This is the kind of healthcare you would want for yourself or family. Very timely, and excellent quality. Many thanks to Dr Aaron W Joe and staff.

Every one here is amazing! My mom was a patient of Dr. Yap and my dad is a patient of Dr. Joe. They both have gone above and beyond to ensure amazing care for my parents eyes. Excellent support staff as well, all willing to help however they can! Thank you Okanagan Eye M.D. we love you!!! ????

Today was my first time at this clinic. I wish I had known that the pay parking only accepts credit cards because I don't own one! There should be more than one acceptable payment option such as coins or debit credit cards. I was very pleased with the friendly receptionist upon our arrival. However, our wait time was almost an hour! If MD's are running behind schedule then that should be communicated! Waiting an hour with a baby is less than ideal as they can become restless very quickly. Not to mention, what about a courtesy to the parent(s), ie work schedules? Hopeful next appointment goes more smoothly.

Like any other medical place there was a longer wait, but it's the same way everywhere. What matters is this place was so good with my 2 year old and Dr. Yap was knowledgeable and funny ????

Long story short: Great Dr.s' but AWFUL reception!! I was first referred here in April of 2021, I had my first appointment in May with Dr. Docherty. When arriving I was greeted by a horribly rude receptionist. Despite it being my first time there I was expected to know which of the three women in the reception box I was supposed to talk to. I generally have a quiet voice and wearing a mask makes it even harder for people to hear me; knowing this I have a prepared note with all the usual answers to questions which I held up in view for the lady to see. Her response was to tell me I needed to say it out loud because looking up at it was too difficult for her. After getting past the receptionist, I had a good appointment with Dr Docherty, he was clear and direct and took the time to speak to me rather than to the room at large, which I greatly appreciate. It was decided that additional testing was needed, and I was told to book at the front. I returned to reception and cautiously approached. The lady I had first spoken with ignored me completely, going so far as to not even look up when I came to the desk. Instead one of the other ladies assisted me with booking an appointment for the test (mid July) and a follow up (mid November). I returned in July. Having decided to give the receptionist the benefit of the doubt that maybe her horrid attitude had been caused by outside issues, I approached the same lady at the reception desk. She was still not pleasant, but was not nearly as bad as my first encounter. This appointment was supposed to be only a test, but the associate was concerned and wanted me to be seen by Dr. Docherty. After a 2 hour wait I was seen, and Dr. Docherty asked another Opthalmologist to step in and consult. Considering that this was not a scheduled appointment, I wasn't too upset about the wait time, though I did miss an important work meeting because of it. I returned in mid November for my follow up and by then I was familiar enough with the receptionist to not take her bad attitude personally. After seeing Dr. Docherty, he decided to order a repeat test locally to happen before my specialist appointment (in Vancouver in March) and he was going to ask another of the Dr.s' if they would be willing to consult on my case. When I went to the front desk to schedule the test, the lady was the one to help me. She first insisted that I couldn't possibly be scheduled until the end of March (after the specialist appointment), and when I explained that the Dr had wanted this before then she got very snippy about how this test requires two appointment slots because it is 40 minutes and then to also book in time with the Doctor the only way to do it neatly was to do it in late March. I asked about not booking it "neatly" and she (reluctantly it seemed) booked me on 2 days in December and told me I'd be on a cancellation list to get in to see the Dr. Later that day I was called to tell me they had a day (sooner than Id previously been booked) to get me in for everything. A week later I was called about an appointment with Dr. Joe at the end of November. When I arrived, not remembering the name of the Dr. I was booked with (only knowing it was a short name and the options were either Yap or Joe) I said who I was and the time of my appointment, when asked which Dr I said "Im not sure, Dr Yap maybe" the lady told me there was nothing booked for me until December, that I must be mistaken. Another of the receptionists spoke up that my appointment was actually with Dr. Joe, from then on (once I was no longer having to deal with the first receptionist!) the appointment went fine even if it did take longer than I'd been told to expect. Dr. Joe was clearly spoken, and very good.

Great staff, but there’s absolutely no cell service in the building. And since I’m on call for work most of the time that’s a huge problem.

Carrie Lightfoot

Business needs an answering machine or fix their phone system. When you call it says you’re being transferred to reception over and over but no one ever answers and no option for leaving a message. Dr was great at our first appt just don’t need the second and can’t seem to cancel.

I am very disappointed with this office. I called this office after seeing my optometrist, I was referred to Dr. Yap for my eye health. I was told by Dr. Yap's office staff that he will take care of me and will book me in. I advised them of my eye issues in September. I got a call from a staff from their office today to tell me that they cannot see me because Dr. Yap is not a retinopathy Dr,. Well after explaining my issues they did not tell me in Sep but telling me now. She mentioned that I was referred for cataract and retina problems. she also said that I will be going back to my previous opthamolagist after consulting Dr. Yap. I said I am no longer with my previous Opthamolagist. To make sure everything is right I asked her to send me the requisition, she refused and ask me to call up my Optometrist for it. Then I asked her to let my Optometrist know that Dr. Yap cannot see me and wants me to be referred to a Dr. Joe a retinopathy, she was so rude on the phone when I ask her to email me the requisition from my Optometrist. This is frustrating even after telling them that my eyes are blurry for nearly a month. No sympathy was shown. Very untrustworthy. She refused to do that too. She even lied that the requisition was given to them 2 weeks ago, To rectify this problem I called my Optometrist, I was told by the Optometrist office that the requistion was given to Dr. Yap's office on Oct 13, 2020. The copy of the requisition was emailed to me by the optometrist office. I was disturbed to know that I was not given the right info by Dr. Yap's clinic. What she said was on the requisition was totally upsetting for me. No mention of me going back to my previous Opthamologist, its very unethical behaviour. I hope Dr. Yap will take care of this matter seriously. It poorly reflects the unprofessional behaviour of an office staff. Thank you for reading this frustrating review.

What is wrong with this office? My brothers appointment was for 11:15. It's now 4:11 . 5 hours later!!! What horrible service. Do you think 1 of these doctors would wait this long on a restaurant for service? Just horrible shameful service. Get a grip and learn how to treat your customers and run a business

Isabelle Elward

Unbelievably unprofessional to make an appointment for 3:10 and kept us waiting till 5:30 if you are late 10min you have to reboot absolutely rediculous

Mark Scorah

Dr. Aaron Joe has a very skilled pair of hands. I feel fortunate he was available to perform my eye surgery. He was very professional and always made me feel confident the outcome of the surgery would be a success. Follow up visits were professionally managed of by Dr. Joe and his competent and courteous staff. I highly recommend Dr. Joe for eye surgery.

Dr. Waite has been an amazing part of my family since my daughter was born. Unfortunately they has some pretty nasty ladies answering the phone. I am repulsed by the attitude of the lady answering the phone. Dr. Waite we know you can do better my friend we love you but will not continue with this office and this level of disrespect.. I will be patiently awaiting a follow with you Dr. Waite

Douglas Green
