It was my first appointment at this clinic last month. Dr. Evernden saw me that day. I had never met her before. She immediately put me at ease and made the entire appointment not only bearable, but pleasant. She answered all the questions I had and made sure I understood my prescription. At no point did she make me feel rushed or like I was just another patient. The ladies at the reception were also very helpful and kind. Great service all in all!
The professionals are very polite and respectful. I liked the service.
Hi! I am impressed and very happy with Larry and his incredible help with my son's glasses. I appreciate your patience and going the extra mile and I endorse you and your clinic without reservation. Thank you. Mathias and Dieter
Doctor Doz is an excellent optometrist and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They have lots of free parking at the back (Back door is NOT wheelchair accessible) - If you call them on your cell phone, they'll hop right to it and open the heavy front door for you if you are disabled. Light and airy waiting /reception area.
The optometrist and the ladies at the desk were super nice and helpful. However the lady helping me with glasses choice left me much to be desired. The frames choice was decently done. However when it came to billing, I explained multiple times that I have my benefits then I have my husband’s benefits. It’s never been a problem to bill both in the proper order. However she said to me they could only bill one insurance company. So I had to pay out of pocket and submit the rest to my insurance when I would have paid zero. Suffice to say, I will be looking for another place for my glasses in the future. It’s truly a pity because they were so good everywhere else.
Good atmosphere. Got my self a pair of funky orange frame????????
I was warmly welcomed and helped by the staff. Dr. Russo was thorough in his examination and explanation of the issues with my eyes. It made it so much easier to accept that I will benefit more by wearing glasses full-time. Savanna in the optical wear department was very patient as she helped me find the best styles, and even let me take my favorites home for a couple of hours to decide which I felt most happy wearing. I was very happy with my experience!
I have had several pairs of glasses made here and have been uniformly pleased with quality and impressed with service. Had a warranty issue with lenses that was dealt with quickly and professionally with no hassles. Not quite as pricey as higher end places, but not necessarily budget level either. Good quality and excellent service, at a fair price. Highly recommended.
They helped me get my contact out which had been stuck in the corner of my eye for 12 hours! Fabulous service, they helped me right away and gave me a free plunger in case it happened again. Wonderful people at this clinic!:)
Dr Mah and the lady who helped me with my contacts were very nice, however the younger blonde lady at the front desk/reception seemed very frustrated and irritable; she asked if I wore contacts very quietly, and I asked her to repeat herself and she shouted "are you wearing contacts?!" quite abruptly and it startled me.
Mrs Pennifold is a quack. Horrible experience
Always a pleasure to go there
Mrs Pennifold “worked” with our son. Claimed he does not have dyslexia. Made a lot of money .... a year later, a professional that has proper training informed us VISION THERAPY is useless. And does not help dyslexia at all. Which our son does have. There is NO science with it. NO proof it helps. Only increases Mrs Pennifolds pocket book. It’s a snake oil sold to parents desperate to help their child. The so called vision therapists. Cannot even agree on the same treatment for a patients coming in..... our son is now a year later and could’ve been sooo much further into learning techniques to assist him...... please care enough about your child. To seek proper assessment and assistance for a child who is struggling. From an ophthalmologist. Ultimately a psychologist. Schools can at the beginning of the year fully fund psycho educational assessments which identify issues This is not acceptable. And very scary that someone can privately do this to a child and their family
My son had struggled in school from grade 1-3. Our eye doctor referred him to Dr. Pennifold for vision therapy. She was able to explain why he had issues reading words in a paragraph and yet he had no problems with flash cards. Her assessment was very detailed and explained which areas he needed to focus on. So far he has attended 8 sessions and we can see the difference it has made. Last January his teacher said it was possible for him to improve his reading level to be at grade level but not likely. He was reading at level J and needed to reach O-P to catch up, which was more then one years growth. I was excited when he was tested in June after attending Vision Therapy for two months and he had reached level O. He knew the individual words the whole time but he had trouble with tracking and double vision which made him struggle reading sentences. He no longer needs to use his finger to help his eyes focus horizontally across the page while reading. Unfortunately our benefits don’t cover the cost of Vision Therapy, but I don’t regret the investment. Nothing is worse then having your child struggle and not be able to help him. Until we met Dr Pennifold nothing we had tried helped. Working on homework and reading every night for an hour didn’t improve his reading, however it did add to my sons frustration. After a few therapy sessions he started becoming more confident with his reading because his eyes started working together to see the words properly and he didn’t need to try as hard to focus. His attention span increased as well.
On June 8, 2020 I went for an eye exam with Dr. Angela A. Endres, because my preferred Optometrist at the clinic was unavailable until later in the month. My family of 3 have been going to Mayfield Eye Centre for many years, because we value individual care and having a long term relationship in which all parties invest. During the consultation Dr. Endres probed and I said that I had purchased contact lenses from Costco and that their consultant had invested a lot of time into finding me the right contact lenses and had given excellent service. She told me that Mayfield Eye Centre could sell me contact lenses at a competitive price. Then she suggested having a pair of distance permanent glasses and a reading pair, while she is well aware that most people who need to wear glasses everyday use progressive or bifocal as a matter of safety, convenience and cost. Towards the end of the consultation she then pushed the conversation into the direction for me to buy eyeglasses from Mayfield by taking me to the technician just outside her office. Exiting her consultation room, there was one customer, the technician and one staff member in the immediate vicinity. When I told her that I just wanted the prescription she said: “I see. You don’t want to support a local business. You’d rather support the place that sells you toilet paper”. She then told her technician very loudly that I won’t be buying from them, because I prefer Costco. Dr. Endres then disappeared. After I tried to locate Dr. Endres, I asked the assistant if the $120 cash I paid for the consultation is not considered supporting a local business. She replied that some of the fee would go towards the business. I told her that I would not be pushed into buying overpriced eyeglasses and that I have never heard Costco optician reps speak ill of small business optometrists. I told the assistant that I will be writing a review on Dr. Entres’ conduct and that I would not return. The superficial apology I demanded came in the form of a voicemail from Dr. Endres later in the afternoon. She apologized for her “words” then laid the blame on COVID-19 and the business’ financial struggles and on me for preferring a “big-box-business” and not wanting to even consider what Mayfield could offer. Disparaging customers’ choices despite being told of the financial toll COVID-19 took on me, emotional coercion (a.k.a. bullying) to buy exorbitantly priced merchandise, and badmouthing one’s business competition do not result in customer retention. It earns you a terrible reputation to which there is a financial cost to all the business partners of Optometrists’ Clinic Inc. It was clear that the entire consultation was built around selling product. This calls into question the integrity of the exam and the credibility of the results. NO Dr. Endres, your customers did not vanish, like many others’ jobs vanished with COVID-19. Your revenue flow was simply delayed. AND most of us need decent, affordable eyeglasses to see, not to flaunt wealth or be fashionable. Perhaps Optometrists’ Clinic Inc. business model should reflect that. Is your primary product optical health services, or heavily marked-up, designer eyewear? I resent that Dr. Endres created a completely unnecessary situation where I have to choose between continuing to use the very competent services of my preferred doctor and standing by my conviction that the business does not deserve my patronage. It will not doubt be a source of great embarrassment to her business partners. What on earth was achieved by all this?! BTW: The so-called “toilet paper” that Costco Optical sold me 5 years ago can survive longer and has withstood a then 6-year-old-boy to age 11, rough play, sports and even the occasional accident of rolling over the frame or dropping the glasses. I paid $399.98 incl. frame and the lenses at Costco. Today, the same quality frame at Mayfield Eye Centre is approximately $300+ and the lenses would put the entire purchase well over $800. I make informed decisions.
My optometrist (Dr Gies) and the front end staff were great, efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. If I was rating only them it would be 5 stars! I’ve been seeing him as an optomitrist since I was a child at the Mayfield clinic. The older blond Polish lady that fits people for glasses was the rudest, most aggresive person I have ever met at an eye clinic. I asked for my pupil distance to be measured as I currently can not afford the hundreds of dollars for the glasses that they offer and want to look at competitors online. Her response to me is the rudest, as “we won’t make money off of you” (her exact words, as if I’m not there already supporting the business), to use a pupilmeter to measure this would have taken 30 seconds from her day. I was told it is $40 and she demanded to know if I “even had a coverage plan!?”. Apparently the fact that I don’t have hundreds of dollars of expendable income has now made me worthless. I then asked if the $40 fee would be covered by the plan and was told “absolutely not!”. I suppose insurance companies don’t support a clinic ripping off their paying customers. I have never been so mis treated and embarassed in a health establishment in my life. I absolutely will not be going back, I’ve used this company at their Mayfield location since I was 8 years old and they have completely lost my business. I’ll find some where that would like to treat a customer with respect. If you are not made of money, and have some sense of self worth, I would not recommend going to this clinic.
This review is long over due. I have been going to the optometrist clinic for 24 years and have had nothing but the best experiences. More recently however I purchased a new pair of glasses. The staff are super supportive and helpful. They really do go the extra mile to make sure your glasses are the right fit for you. I was even able to return at any time for adjustments if I needed them. The staff are very calm, polite and professional. Dr. Dos is very friendly and excellent with kids and adults alike. I highly recommend this clinic.
Dr. Ben Doz knows his "stuff". My family has been visiting for over twenty years, without any complaints. The opticians are very helpful, as well.
I’m a 30 years old and almost lost my vision if it wasn’t for Dr.Doz. Dr.Doz saved my vision, he is an honest, caring and professional doctor.
They repaired glasses for me for free where other places told me the glasses could not be fixed. they looked at it said it would be hard but went ahead. Two pair repaired no charge, plus the selection here is amazing!
Have been going there for years and the care they take with their patients is top notch. Dr. Russo is truly a doctor who is passionate about his job and the time he takes with his patients is remarkable, even taking me in on a Saturday after being poked in the eye with a golf tee (self-inflicted). I highly recommend this clinic!
I overheard one of the head ladies there speaking to her staff quite rudely, I believe her name was Shanda. My overall experience there was alright, the doctors and assistants there were very nice, but I just had a problem with how Shanda is speaking to her staff. As a manager myself, it doesn't sit quite right with me when staff are treated unfairly.
