Prompt and friendly service. The optometrist was very good and provided and thorough exam. However, make sure that you know exactly what you will be charged prior to coming in. I was booked for a medically necessary exam and made a point of making it clear why I was coming. This should have been covered by Alberta Healthcare in its entirety as it has been several times before at other optometrist. At the end I was asked to pay $137 for the exam. This was on-top of them billing AHC which I know they did as they had to call me after to confirm my healthcare number. I was told that this was the cover the cost of getting the prescription as well. I never received a prescription, I was only told that I may benefit a small amount from one. All exams done were routine, and the same as I have had at other locations at no charge. They all would have been part of an examination for my medical condition. Finally, even if there was some misunderstanding $137 for a simple vision check (on top of what they will bill healthcare) is ridiculous. The service was excellent. But make sure you get an invoice before getting anything done.

I received good customer service from Kathi, the owner. The day I went to get my eyes examined was quite busy (a Saturday). I didn't originally want to replace my frames and I was hesitant to search for new ones as its challenging to find frames suited for me. But I needed to. Understanding this, Kathi offered to come in during the week, on her own time when it was less busy, to spend one-on-one time with only me in order to find the perfect fit in a more relaxed atmosphere. I was happy with her time & the glasses selected. She was respectful to my apprehension to stray away from the classic black-framed look, but did challenge me to try on other frames for fun. She helped educate which style frames suit my face/frame and we ended up picking a nice pair.

They have greatly improved on their customer service from a year ago, and have new-to-me very friendly staff. Previously I only went to see Koppe because he understood my eye issues and helped, whereas other eye doctors were rude and not helpful. I was surprised to meet a new doctor as I was not informed of his retirement, but it all went well. I've gone back and forth on frames from here and cheaper stores. There is a noticable better quality in frames and lens. My eyes feel great!

Update.. finally after 4 weeks I got my new frame. However, I will not change my review as I was offered no assistance. I was unable to drive for the last 4 weeks and missed alot of work because their employees mess up. Giving me a coffee card does not even come close to what I've missed out on. Not like my glasses were cheap or old enough that they would be brittle. Never again! Went in to get my glasses adjusted and the receptionist broke my glasses and is now making me wait weeks with broken glasses and won't return phone calls.

If I could give it zero stars, I would. I typically don’t write reviews for businesses, but I’m making an exception here to warn anyone considering getting their eyes checked here. I have nothing bad to say about Dr Koppe. I found him very warm and he made the experience highly informative and comfortable. I went in for a contact lens fitting as well as a regular eye exam; no one at reception let me know that I would need to bring my contacts in that day, which subsequently meant that the prescription I received that day was virtually indiscernible, in terms of improvement over my past prescription. Then there are the glasses. I chose to have new lenses ordered for my existing frame, just in case of emergency, expecting that they would be around 300 something. It was more than twice that, which is insane, but since insurance was covering that, I thought okay. I heard nothing about my lenses being ready after the appointment until I called in myself to check, 5 weeks later. 5 weeks! Given the way I was treated here, I decided to go in a different direction to manage my vision and asked if it would be possible to have any portion of the payment I made refunded (only paying part of the cost at the time of the appointment). I anticipated that they would need to keep some portion of my payment and would at least refund me a portion of what I paid, seeing as how the lenses haven’t actually been installed on my glasses yet. The receptionist was incredibly rude and said no. Which makes no sense to me, given that I never received a phone call for 5 weeks to let me know the lenses were even ready. Complete money grab and waste of time. Please take your business elsewhere and save your money.

Really bad service. The optometrist was very nice and the place looks great but I would not recommend the place based on the supporting staff. Phones seem to never get answered and the staff's lack of knowledge on the service is really frustrating to deal with.

I was very disappointed with my visit to the Eye Care Group today. I arrived early for my appointment and filled out all of the paperwork. I waited for 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time without any contact or acknowledgment from the staff. Tired of waiting, I approached the staff person at the desk to let her know that I would be leaving. She didn't try to stop me and she offered no apology for wasting my time. They have my contact information but no-one has contacted me to apologize or reschedule the appointment. I certainly would not recommend this business. Their customer service is horrible.

Great place to get your eyes checked, and Dr. Sandy Koppé is very delightful to deal with, he has a Unique incite to eye care and eye health the staff are very kind and I didn't feel like they had to pressure me to make a sale or hover over me to pick any peculiar brand or style of frame I LIKE THAT! I'VE gone here for the last 5 years and have never had a single regret in doing repeat dealings with them. Sure you could go to one of those 1 hour stores but they don't have a welcoming atmosphere like the Eye Care Group gives. Parking is the only down side to the place there is ONE Light pole with BIG YELLOW BARRICADES AROUND IT RIGHT OUT IN FRONT (Be Careful not to back into it)

I've been dealing with these people for a few years now and I'm officially done with them. They seem confused and have really terrible customer service. Recently the nose piece on my safety glasses sort of melted, and when I showed them they said that they ordered that piece in. I waited several weeks, when they called and said they had recieved it and it was made of a more durable material. When my wife visited them at the time of appointment several things happened: firstly they said that they couldn't get the nose piece (contrary to what had been previously said to me) and had to order the whole frame. Then the person there seemed totally unqualified to switch the frames out, and told my wife to come back in an hour when somebody else was there. Fine. When she came back the qualified person said that the frames they had ordered were not the correct size. So I went to another company and within five minutes they had replaced the nosepiece free of charge. I've given this place numerous chances and don't usually write reviews but I feel obligated to let people know that this place is terrible. I'm amazed that the other reviews are so good. On one occasion I booked an appointment at the Whyte ave location, and when I arrived nobody was there. Upon calling they said I would have to drive to Jasper ave. I just can't get over how disorganized they are here. Spend your money at a more established place!

I stopped in here last week to see if they would adjust a pair of glasses I purchased online. Initially, they told me they would be able to adjust them, but I would have to come back in an hour and half when the optometrist was free, which I agreed to. Then they told me it would cost $100 just to have my frames adjusted. I was willing to pay a small fee, and the company from whom I purchased my frames (Warby Parker- would highly recommend) would reimburse me up to $50, but this was absolutely ridiculous. Not sure if they were trying to dissuade me or just trying to gouge me for something that takes 2 minutes. If they didn't want to adjust them, they easily could have told me they don't adjust frames not purchased in store. Either way I found the staff rude and the experience poor. I ended up walking a couple blocks to Baker Optical. The staff there were very polite, adjusted two pairs of glasses for me in about 5 minutes and didn't charge me anything. I've considered purchasing glasses from Eye Care Group in the past, but definitely won't be taking my business back there anytime soon.

Worst experience I ever had. Did not read all the paperwork they had be complete. Requested a contact lenses fitting but was not done. Told me I could come back and pay $30 after I paid $100. Asked for my glasses to be made tighter and they broke my frame. Tried sending me with a tape repair on my glasses and I refused. Replaced my $400 glasses with a $56 frame which did not even fit my face. Optometrist very very inappropriate with conversation. Please check BBB before making an appointment.

Backed by a talented, friendly, and knowledgeable staff that has their thumb on the pulse of eyewear fashion, you won't be wasting your time visiting this chic store. Absolutely the best, most personalized service you could ask for. I have been going to Eye Care Group for around 5 years now. From the first time I visited them, they were highly engaged (not pushy - "interested") to understand my personal style preferences, use cases and budget. They are so dialed-in on what looks good on me (and what the limits of my adventurousness are) that I have NEVER had a pair of glasses that didn't look and feel great to wear. There are style options for everyone and every budget - and on-site optometrist services make for a one-stop trip. I have Chrome Hearts, multiple Mykita, Blackfin, D&G, Anne & Valentin, and while they're all very different, they all look "like me." I had an issue with a pair earlier this year - I was sensitive to the nose pad material - and because there was no way to swap them out, they (Andrey) worked directly with the manufacturer and got me a replacement frame that was nearly identical to the original - at no cost! You will not feel pressured here - you can look around, try on some pairs, get some ideas and come back later - they won't try to convince you to buy-on-the-spot like other pushy shops. I couldn't be happier with them. Talk cuisine with Andrey - he's a passionate foodie and he really makes the browsing experience a fun outing!

Don't bother coming here with any serious medical concerns they won't listen. I went there for a growth on my eye which they gave me numerous eye drops for that did nothing, and then they told me it would go away on it's own. After a year of this I went to a new eye doctor I found out I needed SURGERY to remove the growth and it would never go away on it's own or with eye drops. Don't waste your time.

Dr. Koppe is my absolute favourite, I always look forward to seeing him, such an insightful youthful experienced person. He is very good at what he does!!! I did see two other doctors there but I wasn't keen on how they did things so I insist on seeing Dr. Koppe, who is the owner and is the absolute best at what he does. I am not sure what I'll do when he finally retires. Sometimes he runs behind but I know it is because he is very through and the quality of service is top notch. The various "receptionists" that I have dealt with have been very pleasant and helpful. Orders always come in on time.

Staff are friendly and helpful, and remember you from previous appointments. the optometrist is always running minimum an hour late and when you’re getting your eyes checked he always talks about really personal stuff you might not wanna discuss, he’s kind of creepy. Frustrating when you arrive on time yet you sit and wait for over an hour, when you could have been in and out somewhere else.

Love Dr. Koppe, professional, friendly and never had any issues with my glasses, in fact I made the mistake of going elsewhere for glasses, was much cheaper, ended up taking my new frames and replacing the lenses at the eye care group, very costly mistake getting cheaper lenses. The prescription here includes prisms which correct an eye issue of mine, the cheaper version didn’t include prisms and the lenses were nowhere near the same quality. If you are looking for friendly, professional staff and above quality products, this is the place to go, if you are looking for bottom of the line cheap glasses, then go somewhere else.

I live downtown Edmonton and don't drive and I'll be making the trek on the bus just to get here that's how awesome Kathi and her team at the Eye Care Group in St. Albert are. I literally had FUN at my eye appointment! My check-up was a breeze and picking out glasses was a blast. Their covid protocols still make for a very casual experience. You're free to try frames on at will and just have to leave the ones you try on the counter so they can clean them and put them back in the display case, a very efficient and effective system. I actually cannot wait to get back in there not only to pick up my new glasses but also just to see those lovely people again! Keep it up Eye Care Group, Second to NONE!

The staff are professional and always do their best to make sure our needs are met. As a family of 5 we take up a lot of time and room and we have always been accommodated. There is a wonderful selection of both frames and sunglasses at many different price points. The staff are well educated on lenses, lens coating and eye protection. I have to say .. just had another extraordinary experience with the folks over at Eye Care Group. Not only was I supremely confident with the medical care I was given but made to feel a part of their family company! It would be rare for anyone to actually say they love a company but I do. Let me explain why I will be their loyal client until the end of days. Several years ago I was struck by a truck while riding my bicycle. I spent 2 day's in ICU at UofA Hospital. My glasses where destroyed and the individual lenses were found near where I was struck. They were brought to the team at Eye Care Group with an urgent request if something could be done with these pieces. With out hesitation they found a frame and expertly mounted the lenses into them as a temporary fix until I could come by and arrange for a permanent replacement. This they did on the spot and at no cost to me. I was wearing these cobbled together glasses that same evening. So there you have it .. who else would be so kind and generous. You gotta give yourself to the care of these folks .. they won't let you down!! Cheers.

This place is fabulous!!! Been buying glasses there for years - they have beautiful, unique frames and are very helpful in finding frames that work for you. Recently I thought I would try doing a contact fitting there.. IVe never been able to wear contacts at work (uncomfortable and dry) and always just thought it was me! Turns out the brand I was using wasn't best for me (turns out fit does matter in contacts!). Now I can wear contacts to work no prob! Love you Kim Jurina! And your staff too :). Great selection of stylish frames that you don't normally see elsewhere - excellent optician staff too that takes the time and is honest about what would look good on your face and not just try to show only the expensive frames. A couple of months ago, I accompanied my mother, who was visiting from out of province, to get her eyes checked since she was experiencing some difficulty with one of her eyes. Although the staff was friendly and the optometrist was thorough, we waited over an hour for her scheduled appointment. My mother is a senior and wasn't feeling well, given her eye condition. There was practically no other customers in the store at the time and the staff spent most of the time shooting the breeze. There was no warning that the optometrist was behind schedule, no acknowledgment or apology for the long wait for a 20 minute appointment that cost $100. It was not a good first impression. This is the second time in 3 months that I experienced this at an eye care/eyewear store so I don't know if this is just par for the course in Edmonton but it certainly has deterred me from coming here again.

My entire family of 4 went to Eye Care Group's downtown location. It was the first time both my kids were getting their eyes examined. It couldn't have gone better. The doctor really took the time with all of us and explained everything. I was worried the kids would be scared and nervous but they were not! They had a great time! My husband and I ended up needing glasses. The staff really took the time to let us try on so many frames until we found ones that we loved. They offered great suggestions and guided us to what would fit better for our faces. My husband even returned his first selection to pick a different pair!! The staff provided excellent customer service for my entire family. We will be going back.

When it comes to the front end, Kim will be there to answer all of your questions and to educate you on all of your options. As for the eye exam, doctor Chan was awesome and very informative, took the time to explain all of my questions and gave me advice on best practices for eye care. Highly recommend.

I was in a bind to find a pair of contacts quickly for a wedding I had in a few hours as I was visiting from out of town and lost my pair. Right away, this location helped me with no qualms. Quick, friendly and extremely professional service. Not only did they give me a pair of contacts but a whole pack for my trip free of charge. I definitely recommend this location and when I move to Alberta in a few months it will be my go-to for contacts and glasses!

I changed optometrists 2 months ago and discovered the eyecare group location by coincidence with it being just 3 blocks away from me. The optometrist and all the receptionists/assistants that I have met have been amazing! They treat my daughter and I like family. I had dealt with eye pain for several yrs with 2 of my previous optometrists telling my they were ice pick headaches. I had taken my daughter for her checkup last month when the eye dr came out to chat with me about her prescription. While chatting I had one of those "ice pick headaches" behind my eye and grabbed it to cover it from light to ease the pain. This optometrist showed immediate concern and told me this did not appear normal or like a simple headache and he asked if could take me to his office back to take look. He then told his receptionist to book me for an emergency eye exam the following day. He found that I had an eye condition which requires surgery and sent a referall. Each and every person in this office go above and beyond and I HIGHLY recommend them. ????

Being new to Canada, I rely on good friends to steer me in the right direction for medical care dental and eye care services. Shannon Tyler referred me to Kim at Eyecare group in Saint Albert. I was pleased to discover that as an older woman my eye exam was covered by Alberta health. Bonus! I found plenty of frames from which to choose in various styles, colours and price ranges. Attention to cleanliness (Covid demands) was appreciated! I now have my new “bling” sunglasses, and am quite pleased with my new progressive Lenses allowing me to do my needlework, work on the computer, and watch TV, all at the same time LOL!

Truly terrible....good selection of frames (only good thing I can think of) but way over-priced. Optometrist is slightly creepy -neither myself or my children were completely comfortable and he is always running late. Optician/owner's wife was impatient/rude with my teenage son during a contact lense fitting and told him he'd have to come back another time when he couldn't get his contacts in when she should have known it was going to be difficult after having his eyes dilated plus after paying for glasses and contacts for 5 family members, perhaps a little extra effort to accommodate would be appreciated! Moved the whole family to another team of optometrists, pretty much got the impression that the Eye Care Group couldn't have cared less.
