The experience is stellar from the moment you walk into the door for your first check in appointment. The staff and doctors are knowledgable, caring, and not pushy at all. For the surgery itself - given the fact that they will laser a flap in your cornea, lift it up, laser punch your lenses into perfect vision - was painless. The doctors were wonderful about explaining each step. It's a short, sweet procedure. Be ready for some discomfort - or in my case, bloody awful pain, but Herzig arms you with a plethora of drops and medication to help. By the next day, you will be smiling and it will all be worth it. Herzig is expensive... But it's your eyes - and the value is well worth the money. The care you get is impeccable. Ps they have cookies.

I came to Herzig because my partner had gotten his eyes done here (SMILE) and mentioned how painless and quick the recovery was. I had done consultations for LASIK, PRK, SBK at previous places and just wasn’t confident in the results that they were going to give me, as well as couldn’t take the time off required for recovery. Went for a consultation, and I was super happy to learn that I was a candidate for SMILE, and jumped on the opportunity to do my eyes this month. The surgery: The surgery itself lasts a few minutes. You’re awake the whole time, and can see. The machine they use suctions to your eye, and then the lasers go to work. The surgeon will then remove the layer by making a small incision. You don’t feel anything really. Maybe a bit of pressure but besides that nothing. Not painful, no smell. Immediately after: I had a hard time keeping my eyes open after the surgery, so had my partner pick me up, and i went straight to sleep. That helped. They give you T3s, but honestly you don’t really need them. When the numbing drops wear off however it does feel like your eyes are burning (hence keeping them closed). But this sensation goes away after a few hours. Recovery: you need to take antibiotic and steroids drops multiple times a day for the week after. It has been a week, and I can see excellently. My near vision hasn’t recovered just yet, that will happen in a month, but I am back to my regular activities including work. I sit at a computer all day, so that can be taxing on the eyes, but I’ve been taking breaks and using my lubricating drops to help. I’m super happy with the results so far, there has been no dry eye, or feeling of sand, nothing like that! 100% recommend this surgery. It’s the least invasive, and has the quickest recovery. Dr. Modabber did an excellent job!

I had single eye cataract surgery in Jun 2021 in Ottawa, by Dr. Saama Sabeti, still during the pandemic. I was not even fifty years old when I pretty much lost a vision on my left eye due to the cataract. But what can you do? I was referred to Ottawa hospital by an optician, waited for the hospital call that never came (to this day). So, as disappointed and frustrated as I could be (try to be a computer programmer for graphical systems with only one functioning eye), I contacted Herzig, got a consultation scheduled within a few weeks, then pre-op, and then surgery within another few weeks. I can honestly say Herzig is an A+ smoothly working organization, fully staffed, zero stress, clean environment filled with the latest tech, and the staff is very punctual. When the appointment was scheduled, it was at that precise time, no needless waiting. The surgery was set for a total of 3 hours because of covid protocols, and it was just that. The next day post-op was going to be 15-20 min and it was again exactly that, in-and-out, no waiting for someone tired to show up running between 5 other patients. Everything was explained, nothing was rushed, and no pressure. Going Herzig route you have an option to select the latest premium implants (unlike the ones in hospital covered by OHIP) and I would strongly recommend that because there are now some funky new high-end monofocal with increased depth of field. Also, you can choose the laser option as they can fix some other things with the eye as needed. Thanks to all this I have super sharp and high contrast vision, zero halos, and absolutely no glare - I honestly feel like I have a better vision than I ever had before, even when I was younger. And the colors are pretty amazing! I can use my left eye now as a fully pantone color calibrated reference with a perfect white-balance. Yup, I work on imaging software systems and at 50 years I discovered that white is actually more white than I ever saw. They told me the operated eye is now better than 20/20 so my daughter thinks I am an android, which is certainly a bonus. I was cleared to drive the next day after surgery, of course with those funky protective glasses they provided, which makes other people to open doors for me and scouts trying to help me cross the road despite my vocal protests. So far this was a great experience, even though I was pretty chickened out. (Anything eye-related was a nightmare for me as I had an eye injury when I was little - I honestly couldn't even look at TV if they show something done with an eye). The surgery was really far better than I expected. So yeah, I would not blink twice if I ever need to fix my other eye. And hey, they didn't make me write this review - this was all my idea.

I'm very squirm-ish when the topic of eyes are mentioned - I'm scared to put in eyes drops myself, so you can imagine how much stress and anxiety I was experiencing prior to the operation. Everyone at Herzig was kind, professional, and informative as to how the SMILE procedure was going to play out, that helped ease me a lot. Even during the surgery when they were putting eye drops into my eyes, I started feeling nervous again. I asked if they have a blanket and expected that they'd just hand it to me. Everyone stopped everything they were doing and an assistant literally unwrapped the blanket for me and "tucked" me in. That one simple gesture, although small, was the definitive point that made me realize I was in good hands. The operation went smoothly, no wasted time because I moved or looked away. That's how calm they made me feel. If you are having any doubts about SMILE at Herzig - don't! I now have 20/15 vision in both eyes. I'd recommend Herzig to anyone in a heartbeat.

I had to do PRK because of my relatively thin corneas, and severe astigmatism. My surgery with Dr. Ma over a year ago, and I can still see great. He was very understanding of how nervous I was, and guided me through the entire process. The final result was close to 20/20. Surgery here is a bit more pricey than other places, but they examine each case more carefully unlike the other clinics. I'm surprised to see many people like Dr. Herzig though. I spoke to both before choosing surgeons, and I found Dr. Herzig a bit rude and judgemental. Overall, office is clean, comfortable, and convenient. Premium cookies and tea are a nice touch.

My whole experience was wonderful. I had sought a consultation from another provider before, and everything about the Herzig experience was superior when I entered the office - the cleanliness, the friendliness, and the thoroughness. I was made to feel like I was listened to and they presented a better option than what I was given at the first location. The only bump in my pre-surgical procedures came from an outside clinic, but everything in relation to Herzig was smooth. I completed my ICL surgery with Dr Modabber mid-October, and it went seamlessly. Both in the pre-op waiting room, and in the post-op. Dr Modabber made me feel very comfortable with all of my appointments, and was amazing in surgery. Once my pupil size returned to normal my vision was sooo drastically improved - it is miraculous from where I was. The Herzig team gave me very clear instructions for every step of the process. I really can't recommend them enough for any eye surgery you may need.

I had the SMILE surgery in August 2020 and I could not be happier with my experience and results. When I began to feel anxious in the operating room right before the surgery began, Dr Baig and the nurses stopped what they were doing to reassure me. They played music I like in the operating room and one of the nurses held my hand. I felt cared for and in good hands. I don't know why I was scared because the surgery was a breeze. No pain, no discomfort, no burning smell... Nothing unpleasant really. Like the surgery, the recovery was quick and painless. The day of the surgery, my vision was cloudy but I could still function. The next day, my vision was excellent. My vision is now better than 20/20. :)

Dr. Herzig and the SMILE procedure has changed my life for the better and getting the surgery was the best decision I ever made for myself. I wish I had thought of doing it sooner! Come prepared with any questions or concerns you may have at the consult cause otherwise it was a very short this is what is best for you and that's pretty much it. The surgery itself was over in less than 10 minutes but it was so quick it didn't even feel like I was on the table very long. The first few hours were irritating but not painful. Took the tylenol they provided and a nap and I was good enough to go out for a walk that same night! The next day I felt I could have gone back to work cause I was not in any sort of pain or discomfort at all. My up close vision took a day or two to adjust but it's all normal. It's been over two months and my eyes are pretty much perfect (20/15 vision) and I have not experienced any dry eyes or problems. SMILE is the way to go for near sightedness ! Definitely consider this option over LASIK!!!!

First and foremost, this feedback is primarily in response to the patient care I received while undergoing the process for the ICL procedure at the Herzig Eye Institute, and not directed towards the ICL procedure itself. In short, I would not recommend Herzig, ever, especially not when there is so much competition in the Greater Toronto Area for eye surgeries. All patient care should be good, be it in the public or private health sector, but I was horrified at the way I was treated when paying a substantial amount of money for an elective surgery. Throughout all my pre-ops, surgery, and post-ops I have had multiple interactions with their staff in person, over the phone, and via email. I have been consistently unimpressed by the lack of professionalism, respect for patients, and complete absence of good bedside manner. Leading up to the surgery, the consultant I dealt with was condescending and impatient; whenever I asked a clarifying question about the procedure, I was told to "stop being paranoid" instead of being spoken to like an intelligent human being. She was late for our appointments, never apologetic, and always in a rush to get me in and out. The front desk staff also failed to provided correct information about the timing and location of one of my pre-op appointments; something I was told would take 30-45min actually took 3 hours and took place across their two clinics. When I expressed my confusion about the incorrect information, again not a single staff member apologized and instead I was told "I should have known better". It has been more than three months since my procedure; I intentionally waited to write this review because I wanted to ensure that I wasn't reacting too harshly in the moment. I have spoken with countless friends, family, and medical professionals about my experience and the consensus is that the staff at Herzig Eye Institute need to critically evaluate the way they treat their patients. I advise any and all of you reading this to avoid giving them your business. Our vision is so precious and anyone in this industry should understand that feelings of uncertainty and apprehension are normal and should be treated with empathy and patience, not condescension and insolence.

Working in the medical field I have seen the worst of the worst. Herzig by no means is a bad place to go, however for the private medical market where you are spending thousands I would stay away. Very clean and nice offices, but the running of this clinic is horrible. I wasted over an hour doing a consultation (which they made me wait over 30 minutes for). The day of the procedure they had no delay in charging my credit card $8000 but gladly made me wait 2 hours. When it was finally my turn I got in the room and for the first time Dr. Herzig opened my chart. He said he will not be able to do the procedure and he could do a different one at double the cost. I couldn't tell if this was a lack of diligence or a 'bait and switch' tactic. Either way very unbecoming of a medical professional. I would understand if I was a one in a million case however while I was in the waiting room an upset girl left basically saying the same thing that her procedure was cancelled. I booked an appointment at Bochner the next week for a consult... on time, did he same tests and had me out in 25 minutes. The Consultant answered all my questions, even had a slide show ready to show me what they will do, where at Herzig it felt like a sales pitch. I am now booked to have the same procedure Herzig couldn't do as Bochner has a more advanced version. Overall Herzig is a good option if you don't mind being treated like a patient at an ER during flu season. Clean place, friendly staff, but poor medical management.

Had my SMILE procedure done at this place about two weeks ago. Overall the process was quick and painless. Dr. Herzig was very friendly and calming. I went to many other clinics for consultation and ultimately chose Herzig were due to surgeon’s experience and the overall professionalism of the clinic. This the only place I went to had optometrist conduct pre-op exam. This is also the only clinic that identified some concerns with my cornea and referred my file to surgeon for second opinion which ultimately recommended SMILE instead of LASIK. They certainly earned my trust and ultimately earned my business. I’m happy with the outcome of my surgery and couldn’t be happier that I can see 20/20 in 2020! My eyes are still healing and as time goes on, my night vision is constantly improving. Dry eye is a real issue following the surgery but with some lubricant eye drops it is manageable and does get better as eyes continue to heal. One side effect the clinic did not tell me is... after the surgery I kept on adjusting my “invisible glasses” due to force of habit! Clearly my brain thinks I’m still wearing glasses because I can see everything :)

Greatest experience medically and as a client. From the moment you step into the office, youre greeted with warm smiles and positive energy. They instruct you on every single step of your decision making process. I had the ReLEex SMILE laser eye surgery done on both of my eyes at the Herzig Eye Institute last Thursday (26 Jul 18), under the care of Dr. Herzig and his staff. The procedure itself took less than 5 minutes per eye and the results were highly noticeable the next morning when I woke up with 20/20 vision. The staff were more than helpful taking eye measurements prior to the surgery and explaining the post-operative care and scheduling my follow up meetings. This is without a doubt in my mind, the best financial and life decision I have ever made. I highly recommend Dr. Herzig to anyone considering laser vision correction.

Staff were friendly, and I'm not sure if it has to do with the fact that they are in the middle of moving offices, but the wait times were crazy. I expect this at an OHIP services clinic/ER, but definitely not from a private company charging 1000's of dollars for their 3 minute procedure. On the day of the procedure, we waited over 2 hours before they had to switch my surgery from SMILE to LASIK at the last minute. My boyfriend ended up going to Bochner and has had a much better experience since, literally no wait time. Also, they gave me expired eye drops!

Received an excellent care from this location. Dr. Herzig was amazing. My surgery was done in just 5 minutes, and I now I have a 20/20 vision. I had very high short-sightedness, to do a perfect surgery I needed someone experienced like Dr. Herzig. The moment he started the surgery I could feel how experienced and knowledgeable he was. Now I can see better than what I used to see with my glasses. My optometrist also confirmed the surgery was perfect. It is amazing how Lasik changed my life, life without glasses is a blessing. I waited a year post op to make this review about my LASIK procedure. After looking into Lasik MD and mentioning it to my eye doctor, Herzig was recomennded to me as an alternative. When going for the consultation, I dressed like a goof (something I like doing in higher end places to see if I'm treated differently based off apperance) in sweat pants and a baggy sweater. I was welcomed with the up most respect and treated properly, dispite not looking like I "fit in", with the rest of the patients who were well dressed. I was never once second guessed about financing (which I did not require), unike Lasik MD who had assumed and tried to immediately push me into it. All of my questions were answered thoroughly and I was assured help would be with me after hours if needed. They proceeded to do the pre-op tests thoroughly then spoke with me about my surgical options. The only thing I disliked was the push for "SMILE" -- a surgery similar to Lasik that has been banned in Europe due to generally poor results (not discreditting this surgery, simply stating information widely available online. If it worked for you then great.) -- So I opted to go the Lasik route. Fast forward to surgery day (well dressed this time, lol). They repeated pre-op tests before taking me to the waiting room and asked me if I wanted some medication to ease the worry/anxiety. I declined and they told me to let them know if I changed my mind. No pushiness for medication. Into the surgery room I go. They put massive amounts of numbing eye drops into my eyes while explaining the process again and going in depth as to what each machines purpose was and what happened if my eye had moved (which it did!). Within less than two minutes of starting the surgery, I was sent back out to the waiting room. My surgery was done and I could finally see in a yellowy haze. I was assured this would get better with time and was given a bag of medications to take home with me as well as two movie tickets complimentary. My first set of drops were due less than 15 minutes after finally getting out of the building, so I killed some time in LV before heading for the car. I decided to do my drops before leaving the parking lot (sitting still) but due to poor visability I accidentally poked my eye with the eye dropper. I returned upstairs in a hurry to see if I had done damage. By this time, most of the staff was on lunch break but I was helped instantly by one of their staff and reassured that I had not touched the flap. The first few weeks were worrying me as my eyes SLOWLY started to heal and my vision was not quite up to par by my standards. However, within a month, my eyesight was better than ever. I tried so hard not to cry within the first two weeks, because for the first time in my life I could see without assisstance (I started at -5.75 with a bad astigmatism in both eyes). My last eye appointment was -0.25 in one eye and +0.25 in the other and I'm due for my 1 year exam in a few weeks (will update this post if anything changes). The only thing I noticed post-op that wasn't mentioned to me was that my eye color would / could change. My eyes were dull and dark for a few months but are now brilliant blue like they were before. I have not suffered from long term dry eyes. I do not have any pain. After the healing process, light glares slowly diminished and are now pratically non-exsistent unless I'm really tired. My vision is 110% improved from what it was and I am extremely happy I went with Herzig. It took me 5 years to finally say "I'm doing it" and I'm glad I trusted Herzig. (I was lucky enough to have Mr.Herzig himself!) At Lasik MD, you feel like a cattle in the herd a.k.a just another number. At Herzig, they make you feel like family. P.S. I am tearing up writting and re-reading this because I have had issues with contacts from day one. Before, I couldn't see peoples faces from across the table. Now, I can see street signs from a block away! Thank you for giving me my freedom back! You can't understand what it means to me. ????

This is a first class facility with attentive and professional service. They offer prompt assessment and most importantly for me fast access to the required medical procedure. I was assessed by Dr. Bhargava and he also did the surgery on both eyes. The surgery for both eyes could have been done on one day or one eye on two consecutive days but I opted to wait a week between surgeries. I opted for the laser technique but I am not sure if it was worthwhile. Regardless, the outcome was excellent and I am very pleased with the results. I my case one eye was corrected for distance and the other for closer objects. I have 20/20 in the right (distance) eye. Post surgery I couldn't believe how much brighter everything was. I was like having a new TV. Expensive but worth it for me as I would likely have waited one year for surgery here in Ontario without have the benefit of these precision facilities. I am out of words for what happened to me here. Had icl lens implant end of April 2021, removed May 31 2021. Eye pressure was normal pre surgery, now 21-25 everyday. Diagnosed with severe dry eye, feeling of grittiness, dry and tired. Paid close to $8000 and did not get a penny back. As long as I can remember I’ve had to wear corrective lenses; glasses and contacts have been my routine for over 50 years. Finally after much investigation and comparisons in regards to places and eye correction surgery options, I decided to trust my eyes with Dr. Sheldon Herzig. The eye examines were well executed and the consultation was informative with no pressure. I weighed out my choices and decided on SMILE correction and had the procedure done November 7th, 2019. It was stress and pain free. Dr. Sheldon Herzig and his team were all professional and made me feel very comfortable and at ease. My follow up appointment the day after went well with my vision showing improvement. It’s been a week and I am seeing much better and am hoping that within the next few weeks my vision will be as perfect as I dreamed. I highly recommend this clinic. The options are incredible and the procedure is perfected to a fine art. The days after the procedure include lots of scheduled eye drops but the eyes heal wonderfully as the blurred vision becomes clearer and the gritty, dry feeling subsides. An exceptional experience with a very competent and personal staff, with excellent results. It’s taking time to get used to the new mono vision but I am slowly adapting to the change. The surgery itself was quick and simple. I didnt feel or see much for the most part. after the surgery I had elevated eye pressure so I was closely monitored weekly to make sure it went down and so it did with prescribed drops. I am happy with the result. its been 9 months and I see 20/15. When it came time to have my cataracts removed there was only one place I would trust with my eyes. Dr. Herzig corrected a cataract operation by another surgeon that did not go well for my husband. My husband was so pleased with the results, that we use Herzig Eye Institute exclusively. When the laser measuring which is so accurate and the laser removal of the old lenses was explained to me, I knew this was the right procedure. My husband had had the standard measuring done some years ago which resulted in the wrong lens being implanted. The laser surgery softens up the lens for removal so it does not shatter. Again my husband had the lens shatter during surgery. My sight is wonderful after having both eyes done. I would recommend Herzig to anyone I know if they are ready for cataract surgery. After 70 years of wearing glasses and gas-permeable contacts to correct my astigmatism and presbyopia, and with worsening cataracts I opted to have the Herzig Eye Institute in Ottawa review my situation and recommend a permanent solution. Staff were extremely proficient, polite and helpful in answering all my questions. Earlier this week I had both eyes operated on in less than one hour and the results are beyond all expectations. There was never any pain or discomfort and after 24 hours I could see well enough to drive, read a book and my computer screen without reading glasses, even focus clearly from about 6 inches to infinity! I went for a Relex Smile procedure back in 2018, but my vision was never anywhere close to 100%. I know results may vary from customer to customer, but mine felt like it has always been hovering around 85-90% for my left eye and 80% for my right eye. I had much better vision wearing contacts and glasses (about 95-99%). It's a little disappointing because there are claims of achieving perfect 20/20 OR BETTER...so my expectation was at least 95%. My lifelong dream was to enter Law Enforcement and I needed a minimum of 20/40 uncorrected to be a candidate. I'm not sure if even with prescription I can attain 20/20 vision now because of my dry eyes. My vision was -3.75 in right eye and -3.25 in left. I went to my post-surgery follow-up appoinments after the surgery with my eye doctor for the first year. The first few months was brutal...I had severe dry eyes and had to use drops all the time. My eye doctor prescribed me Xiidra, which I had to pay out of pocket and it wasn't cheap. I inquired about the enhancement procedure because I felt that I would qualify for one, but was told they will look into my file but they never got back to me. I feel like it may be a lost cause at this point. It's a shame because the procedure was extremely painless and quick. The staff was pretty friendly and nice. But the most important part (frankly the only part that matters to me) which are the results, was not there.

No customer service. One of the receptionist was so rude, I should have got her name, but she was working this afternoon (Monday July 5th). Answered questions very impatiently and even hanged up the phone, that’s unbelievable. If you’re in a bad mood, don’t come to work, no one has the duty to bear your rudeness, especially not a client! It’s very sad because I really wanted to get the treatment but unfortunately, the receptionist is the first impression you get of a company and getting hanged up certainly doesn’t welcome you to come get the procedure, especially such an important one. Not only she was not comforting like someone working there should be since clients are stressed out, she was so impatient. I was asking very normal questions about the procedure, i am very hesitant about getting the treatment now, and it’s a shame because I heard good things about this clinic.

I had a wonderful initial experience with Herzig when I had my eyes done several years ago. However, after coming for all of the follow up appointments I was told there was a gaurantee on my vision so down the road if I needed an touch ups they would be covered. I have called approximately 4 times over the last 3 months and left messages with my contact information. No one has called me back. Very underwhelming service and has led me to leave this unsatisfactory review. Hopefully someone answers my messages at some point soon. Update: After posting my review, Herzig reached out and took ownership of my negative experience. They got me in for my appointment within a week and as a result I have changed my review from a 1 star to a 4 star.

I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with the 100% SUCCESS of my cataract surgery for both my eyes. Now I do need glasses for distance and I see everything much more luminous and clear as NEVER before. Amazing office with knowledgeable, caring staff! I had looked for a solution to my vision problems since 2004. I have severe myopia with astigmatism and irregular corneas. Due to this I knew my options for vision correction was limited to clinics with experience in advanced vision correction procedures. In my search I have visited multiple clinics in multiple countries, and I was most impressed with my experience at the Herzig Eye Institute. I had done extensive personal research on the ICL procedure prior to my consultation, and was pleasantly surprised that Dr. Herzig was thorough in his explanation of my vision correction options, and very honest about the risks involved with my unique vision concerns. He did not pressure me into surgery which other clinics had tried. I work in an operating room and I'm required to work with delicate instruments and sutures under harsh lighting. Due to this I was nervous to schedule the procedure for both my eyes on the same day. Sophia, which was my case manager, worked with my schedule, and found dates that I was comfortable with. She was always prompt to answer my questions, and was helpful with navigating my international payment for the procedure. Her professionalism also helped ease some of my anxiety. On the day of my procedure everyone made sure I was calm and relaxed. They double checked my information, provided comforting words, and even gave me relaxing hand message. The operating room staff was friendly and efficient. Dr. Herzig was able to implant my lenses without any difficulty. Herzig Eye Institute was thorough during my post op eye exam. It felt like they truly cared about my vision quality. As I'm from the US they have been working with my ophthalmologist for continued post op care. Sophia even personally checked in with me recently to see how I'm doing. I was someone who thought I would need uncomfortable contact lenses or glasses for the rest of my life. Now I can see better than 20/20 with no discomfort. Just wanted to let every know that is searching for review on the Herzig Eye Institute . First that Im a straight shooter and very picky one at that. I went for a Consultation 10 or 12 years ago in my early 20s and decided to hold off until I was a bit older. I went back for another consultation in march 2018 as I was interested in the SMILE Procedure and found out that I was good candidate. From the moment I called requesting the appointment to the reminder call they gave me. I never had an unpleasant experiance, my practice manager Sophia was very friendly and personable not pushy at all and very Helpfull, I appogise I forget every ones name but every one was very pleasant to deal with and I ask a lot of questions lol even the man himself DR. Herzig busy yes. But not rushed he made sure to answer all my questions. For the Procedure itself took maybe three minutes an eye. Very little discomfort right after, but you have to expect to have some ( nothing major ) I compare it too cutting an onion, but I could see! For the first time with out contacts since I was 12. And the discomfort went away in a cpl hours. The next day I was measured at 20/15 I COULDNT BE HAPPIER I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR HERZING AND HIS TEAM! I would do it again!! Thanks : ) Jesse B

If your prescription is high, go elsewhere! Herzig doesn't work with -/+8 or higher eyes very much so don't expect to be offered any laser surgery. At my consultation, they told me I only qualified for ICL (implanted lens) due to lack of corneal thickness (518 microns). They then failed to tell me about the procedure (pros/cons); when asked why should I choose Herzig, Christina (pricing lady) said because of Dr. Herzig (the head surgeon you won't see until surgery day). When I asked her if she wore glasses, she responded, "No, I'm normal". I left the consultant made to feel worse about my eyes and their health. Even after I said that the consultation made me feel down, neither Christina nor Dr. Brandonberg (optometrist) offered any positive views on the ICL procedure. In short, if you're eyes aren't great, Herzig doesn't care for you. The best was the $8,000 price tag for the procedure. Thank you - NEXT!

Excellent treatment at the first year , but if you go back for a retreatment after a year the responses are not as prompt as before :) I did my PRK Lasik in 2011 and my optometrist referred my back to Herzig since my dominant eye got weak enough to either I had to wear glasses or do a retreatment ,I went in for reassessment and they provided me with either replace the Lens all together ( not covered by life time warranty ) or were very discouraging repeat of PRK . since I mention I am more interested in PRK i was told that someone will get back to me and I followed up 3 times with noone answering me . I hope I am one off client of theirs and this is just due to some errors

They dropped the ball for me. In explaining the options in lenses for cataracts, they passed me off to someone who didn't have the knowledge because the main one was off for some reason. I was actually surprised when she apologized profusely for being a little late with my appointment, but I soon found out first hand why that happened. No question is too trivial and the answers that are provided are well thought out and provided in layman's terms. When you walk out of the appointment, you feel that she has provided all the information you require in order to assist you with your specific issues. When we speak about physicians and refer to "bedside manner", Dr. Brandenborg could be the poster woman for that saying. I would recommend her to anyone with dry eye issues.....which is her specialty.

Dr Herzig did my lasik procedure 25 years ago. My vision remained stable up until recently. As It turns out I had developed cataracts which Dr Herzig recently corrected. Miraculously, my vision which was hazy is now super clear again. In addition, I see colours much brighter and the yellowish tinge I used to see is now gone. Overall the experience was a good one. The team was professional and caring and took the time to answer all of my questions prior to my PRK treatment. Where they fell short was in providing enough after care. For the price paid, I truly expected to be sent home with enough medication to get me through the initial recovery phase. I had to had my partner visit the clinic a few days after my procedure to get more antibiotic medication, and had to independently visit a pharmacy for more lubricating eye drops. Whatever the cost difference between providing patients with 10ml of drops compared to 2ml provided seems like a negligible cost difference when charging premium fees. A small shortcoming but one that resonates...especially when it comes to vision treatment. Would love to see this addressed for future patients. Overall a really good experience.

I had my eyes done here about 2 years ago. I paid much higher fees because I was sold by their commercials and their ‘guarantee’ They say they guarantee their work bit they really do not. And they do everything possible to avoid fixing their mistakes or actually honour their guarantee. They are super petty and insisted I pay an optometrist for a test to see that my eyes severely deteriorated after surgery and then dragged it out just to tell me I no longer qualify for the guarantee since it’s been 2 years even though I first called them complaining well within the guarantee period! These people are only interested in taking your money - not in actually helping you. Use someone else who cares more and advertises less.

I had the ICL procedure at the Herzig institute this past week, and I have nothing but praise for Dr. Herzig and his team. The institute runs like a well oiled machine that is designed with seamless patient care in mind. Understandably eye surgery can cause quite a bit of anxiety in a patient and much of the experience at Herzig is built around eliminating much of the stress associated with such procedures from how friendly, warm and organized the office runs to hand massages and cookies post procedure. Plus, I was in and out on surgery day in a couple hours in time to pick up the kids. (My case manager Zabi took my schedule into consideration when planning my procedure and because of how well run everything is we were out exactly on time). Everything from initial consultation was just flawless. I'm 4 days post op as I write this and my vision is fantastic, because ICL is immediate I was actually able to work (and drive!) The very next day. I'm so happy I made the decision to come here, I can't recommend them enough.

I did SMILE with Dr. Herzig in early 2019 for 5500+. The pre-surgery exam was carefully done by other staff there, and Dr. Herzig also examined my eyes in person before the surgery. I got the phone call from the clinic a few days before the surgery reminding me to stop wearing contact lens for the surgery, which is very thoughtful. The procedure was smooth and quick. Dr. Herzig guided me through the entire process patiently. I didn’t feel any discomfort during the surgery. When the laser was working on my eye, the vision of that eye was gradually fully covered by fogginess, so I knew the surgery was in process. After the surgery, I got some fogginess in my eyes and couldn’t see things clearly for a night. It was good that I booked my surgery in the late afternoon as I could just take the pills from the clinic and go to bed without struggling with my sight. The next morning, I could see better, but not clear. In the next two weeks, I could see far very well, but I got trouble to see the near, like reading or working on laptop and phone. It’s the most frustrating weeks. I told my condition to the doctor who examined my eye after a month, she told me it’s normal. In the first month, my eyes also felt dry too, I used lots of perspectives free eye drops to ease the condition and it worked for me. I had bought tons of eye drops as the drops from the clinic was only enough for around a week. Now it has been more than one and half years, the fogginess has completely gone, the near sight has been perfect and I have been able to work on the laptop and phone without any problem since the 3rd months after surgery. My sight once reached 20/15 in the second month after surgery, but now it feels to be a standard 20/20.My eyes had been continued to adjust themselves in the first year, and sometimes I was not sure if I would need another surgery again. Fortunately, it feels very stable now. The feeling of dry eyes has been significantly improved since the second month after the surgery. In the first year after the surgery, my eyes get tired slightly shorter than before, especially the dominant eye. Now I don’t rely on eye drops at all. My eyes could produce tears without any problems if they are getting tired Will keep updating if there are any changes of my result to help others make this big decision. Personally I am very happy with the surgery and the final result, and would like to recommend the clinic to others.

Don’t get laser eye surgery here. You may live to regret it. ???? Research corneal neuralgia first because they won’t tell you about the most terrifying possible outcomes. And if something does go wrong they will minimize it, deny that it was a result of the surgery (despite the moment of onset being the surgery, and terrifying eye symptoms as a result) , and they will try to avoid helping you with any possible next steps, I suspect as that looks bad for business.

Very difficult just to book a consultation. I called and booked a consultation, apparently the receptionist didn't book it in so when I called to confirm there was no appointment. Everytime I call they never picked up there phone goes straight to voicemail. The only appointment they have available is a month from now. I am shocked to hear I have to wait a whole month for just a consultation. They need to hire more staff. Not to mention the receptionist is very rude and gives attitude on the phone.

I cannot say enough about the truly amazing service and results from my SMILE procedure. From the moment I was referred to the clinic until this very moment it has been exceptional. Friendly, informative, accommodating, kind AND talented - an exceptional combination. Every single person I encountered was wonderful and genuinely happy for me! I am currently about 2 weeks post surgery and each day my vision is getting better and better. I had monovision so I was told in advance it takes a couple of weeks to a month to get used to it. I had my one week follow up and everyone is pleased with my progress. My eyes are a little dry but it is to be expected and it is starting to taper off now. I mostly need drops when I wake up and after a few hours of work on my computer. All totally manageable. Dr. Herzig was so calm and reassuring during the procedure. I had trifocal refractive lens exchange one month ago and it has been truly life changing for me. After 45 years of having a very high myopia prescription and more recently presbyopia too and never being satisfied with my vision, I am so happy to be finally being free of my glasses and contacts and I am so thrilled with my 20/20 vision. Everything is clearer, brighter and more colourful than ever before. Because my prescription was so high, they sent me to a retina specialist for extra testing to make sure that l could have the surgery. I also had very dry eyes and they recommended and helped me get my dry eyes under control before having the surgery. This showed me that they really care about your eyes and want you to be happy with the outcome and that it’s not just about making $. I was very nervous to do the surgery but the entire team was amazing and had a calming effect and I was so fortunate to have Dr. Herzig perform the surgery himself. The procedure only took only about 20 minutes an eye and I didn’t feel any discomfort at all. It is now 20 days since I had the surgery and my vision is almost perfect. My vision was blurry the first 3 days and after that, day by day my vision got better. Herzig eye institute is worth visiting to get treated good, taken care of and it is a secure place to do surgery in. All medications and eye drops you'll need is given by them, and hey they also give you a gift card as "thank you for choosing us" gift!

I'm a 28-year-old female who had been wearing glasses and contacts since I was 10 years old. My prescription was very bad - my contact lens prescription was approx -6 in both eyes, so I think about -8 for glasses. My corneas are super thin - about 60% as thick as the average person's, which made me a poor candidate for Lasik. Previous clinics had tried to push Lasik on me, even though the more I researched it, the more it sounded like a risky idea for my type of eyes. I went to my first consultation at Herzig at the end of October 2018. The consultation lasted a long time - from what I remember over 1.5 hours. I was impressed with this, because they did a lot of tests - way more than the other clinics had done. In the end, they recommended ICL. None of the other clinics had mentioned this even though it seemed like I was the perfect candidate for this type of surgery (I did a lot of independent research to confirm this). I think the reason is that very few clinics and doctors are qualified to perform ICL. From what I understand, Dr. Herzig has done hundreds of these. I agreed to the surgery and was scheduled in for February 2019. Between October and February, they did several more tests and took SO MANY measurements to make sure my implanted lens would be the right prescription. They also had me go to a retinal specialist to make sure my retina had no minor tears that could affect the surgery. The surgery went 100% perfectly. It took 20 minutes and was painless. Someone else who had had his ICL surgery done within 30 minutes of mine was recovering in the same room as me. He reported the same initial feelings that I had - no pain, quick surgery, and he could already see pretty well (it takes a few weeks to reach optimal levels). My only recommendation is to try not to drive at night for the first 3 weeks or so following the surgery. The halo effect at night was pretty intense for the first week, and definitely noticeable for one month following the surgery. After that, it wasn't really noticeable. It has been almost 9 months now since my surgery and I can see perfectly. I can do anything I want without prior preparation - swimming, hiking on a bright sunny day, extreme sports, etc. It's a wonderful world and I can finally see it for myself!
