After being told at LASIK MD in Winnipeg that I was not a candidate for corrective eye surgery, in part because I WAS far sighed, I was quite disappointed and sought out other alternatives even considering a lens exchange as I was tired of wearing glasses. My regular eye Dr (who is also AMAZING) suggested I go see Dr Gdih and Aqua i Laser as he could assess me for the exchange. After a brief exam he suggested that I would in fact be a candidate for his NO CUT procedure, which needless to say sounded FAR better than the idea of someone taking a blade to my eyeball, I was extremely happy but a little cautious given the fact that LASIK said I wasn't and now I am. Dr Gdih went into great detail about the differences in technology and of course I went and did some research on the info he gave me which confirmed what he was telling me. Safer, more reliable, more accurate, no cut meaning that there was ZERO chance of a lap ever ripping open in the event of an extreme sudden jolt to the head (I ride motorcycles on the track so this was useful to know) with the only real drawback being that the healing process does take longer. So I decided to give it a go after multiple appointments to ask questions and a number of exams to ensure everything was 100% in the system with regards to my prescription. I even asked why Dr Gdih why he was doing so many exams and he asked if I ever heard the term "measure twice, but once"? ...same idea, just no cutting. haha It is now a few months post op and I can tell you that I had a number of times where I was concerned thinking "This is WORSE!!!". Immediately post op I could see, and was amazed. That night my eyes got itchy and there was a bit of pain which is why I was prescribed T3s (I normally stay away from meds but I took as prescribed it's my eyes after all) I also took some antihistamines which worked great! Pain and itchiness was gone withing a couple days but my vision fluctuated for a couple of months which had me a tad concerned so I read up more online and of course consulted again with Dr Gdih who told me to come in so he could reassess where things were at. He assured me that everything looked great and my eyes were actually healing at a very quick rate. END RESULT... 20/15 vision!!!!! Absolutely NONE of the halos I have seen others mention after having other types of corrective procedures, no dry eyes, no indication that I ever had corrective surgery on my eyes aside from the fact that I CAN SEE!!! My experience at Aqua I laser clinic was very positive. I had poor vision that led to chronic use of eyeglasses and contant lenses for many years. I wanted to be free of my glasses and this became true after I have had a new procedure (PRK )done by Dr.Gdih at Aqua I Laser. Every aspect of the experience was better than my expectations .Starting from the welcoming friendly receptionist and nurse ending with having the surgery done for both eyes within minutes ,no cuts no pain. Dr.Gdih is very professional and dose his best to explain in detailed yet simple way about your eyes' conditions and about the procedure. I definitely recommend this clinic for everyone who wants to be between safe and caring hands while having their vision corrected.

Two months ago I had my laser eye surgery done by Dr. Gdih at Aqua i Laser and the impact of being glasses free has been incredibly amazing. From start to finish it has been a positive experience. I met Dr. Gdih to see if I was a good candidate for the procedure and he approved me to safely proceed with the surgery. Everything was clearly explained to me about what I should expect during the surgery as well as what recovery would be like. To be honest I was feeling nervous just before surgery but when I got into the laser suite and was greeted by Dr. Gdih and his assistant I felt a wave of calm wash over me as every part of the procedure was explained as we went along. During surgery Dr. Gdih was very reassuring and his assistant would let me know how much time was left on the clock for my treatment (both of my eyes were under 40 seconds of treatment each) and I experienced no pain! After the surgery Dr. Gdih asked me to put my old glasses back on and immediately there was a huge difference. As I was expecting, recovery wasn't as easy as the surgery; I was very light sensitive and my eyes felt quite painful for the first 48 hours but it was well worth it!! He has followed up with me many times to make sure I'm happy with my vision and to answer any questions that I've had. I would highly recommend making a free consultation with Dr. Gdih and his friendly staff if you want to have the best laser surgery experience possible!! Thank you Dr. Gdih and the Aqua staff!!

I went to Dr. Gdih for intraocular lens replacement surgery. Not even knowing this was a thing outside of cataract surgery, I found that he is the only surgeon in the city that does it. Dr. Gdih was courteous, talented (the surgery and recovery was quick) and took interest in my extremely terrible eyesight (I had glasses with a -18.00 prescription and non-dilating pupils). Now I have 20/20 vision and my quality of life has improved dramatically. After years of having other doctors shrug their shoulders at my situation, it was a huge relief to find someone who took an interest in my eye condition! Would highly recommend him for any eye surgery or procedure he offers!

For long time I was struggling with my glasses and was looking for any way to take glasses off, I have heard good comments about laser surgery from friends who did have laser surgery and how that affect their quality of life after, Bcs I did hate my glasses I went to see Dr. Gdih regarding laser surgery, he did explain to me in details the procedure and side effects happen in 1st few days post surgery as well few weeks post surgery, I did my laser surgery and went home immediately, my home few hours away from Winnipeg, all things happen after surgery exactly like what Dr. Gdih explain to me, being like text book explanations I was expecting things before it happen over few weeks post surgery, Dr. Gdih did cover post surgical side effects and how I can overcome those. I can not express enough how strong I will recommend Dr. Gdih for this kind of procedure and I am sure he is strongly competent in other procedures. After laser surgery things are changed to a better way and glasses are kind of unpleasant remote memory.

I found Dr. Gdih and all the staff to be extremely professional. He met with me on a few occasions in order to get my prescription as close as he could as it was very strong. I knew exactly what to expect going in to the procedure. That day everyone walked me through what they were doing and how long each step would take. I felt extremely comfortable throughout. Opening my eye immediately after the procedure I was astonished on how well I could see. The days after were not nearly as bad as I would have thought. My eyes a bit fatigued and a slight sensation of feeling something in the eyes. I went from not being able to read which was the shampoo or conditioner no matter how large the font was to being mostly glasses free. I only use them for distance at meetings as I find it a bit blurry. Overall 20/20 vision. It allows me to enjoy all the sports and my day to day without glasses. I would highly recommend Dr. Gdih and his team.

I saw Dr. Gdih for the I laser treatment, I was little skeptical until I got an introduction to what I laser surgery is and the technology Dr. Gdih uses I was very comfortable and very excited to get treated. I had very poor eye sight I would squint a lot causing me severe migraines before I saw Dr. Gdih, he was very kind and humble. I had Refractive Lens Exchange surgery with Dr. G Gdih a few months ago at Aqua I Laser in Winnipeg. My vision had been slowly deteriorating over the past several decades and I was tired and frustrated with wearing glasses. The surgery was painless and took less than an hour and I could see without glasses immediately. Over the past 2 months I have never had to put on glasses to read, drive or do tasks. The procedure is absolutely amazing and exceeded my expectations. I did a lot of research on ophthalmologists prior to making an appointment with Dr G Gdih. His active research practise as well as teaching future ophthalmologists and his surgical practice at several hospitals were critical factors in my decision. As well, he is a specialist in RLE here in Winnipeg which meant I did not have to travel to have the procedure done. What I did not expect was his excellent “ bedside manner”. He is personable, intelligent thoughtful and kind. He genuinely cares about his patients. The follow up appointments were very thorough with careful testing to ensure everything was perfect. I cannot say enough good things about this procedure and about Dr. Gdih. The best gift I have ever given myself was my decision to go through with the RLE surgery with Dr. Gdih. It is so liberating to know I will never need to wear prescription glasses again!!

I came to Winnipeg from Denmark to have Dr. Gdih perform my aqua laser eye surgery. The whole team at Aqua i Laser were very friendly and informative which made the process feel so comfortable and professional. When meeting with Dr. Gdih I was able to get all my questions answered and the process of the procedure was completely as described. I was on a busy schedule while in Winnipeg so I was hesitant about the recovery time as I had appointments and functions that I had to attend. Dr. Gdih was patient and assured me that I would be recovered to meet my schedule. During the procedure I felt very comfortable as Dr. Gdih was informing me what was occurring so I felt relaxed and the process was very quick with both my eyes being completed in less than a minute. Immediately after the surgery I was able to walk to the vehicle that was picking me up. For the next two and a half days I had some irritation in my eyes, they felt very dry and itchy. Also had a head pain and I was very sensitive to light. The first full day after the surgery I spent mostly sleeping or resting on the couch with my eyes closed. There was definitely discomfort in the immediate days after the surgery but no extreme pain that was making the process unbearable. By the 4th day after my surgery, I was fully functional and carrying on with all my daily activities. I had to wear my sunglasses when outside but I was able to meet with friends, shop and go out for dinner. On the 5th day post surgery I was able to attend a wedding with no issues and most people were amazed that I had a laser eye procedure so recently, because I was pain free. I would strongly recommend Dr. Gdih and the Aqua i Laser procedure. This procedure has freed me from glasses and contacts for good and was done by a very skilled and outgoing individual in Dr. Gdih. Both Dr. Gdih and his staff are top tier and they made the whole process seamless and amazing. They treated me like I was their family member so the whole process felt safe and I understood what was happening. I am very grateful to Dr. Gdih and his staff for the amazing job they have done with my eyes and would definitely recommend this to anyone thinking about this procedure, no matter where you live, it is worth it!

She said he gave her hope about her condition and she felt empowered as he always explained her test results with her and explained everything. He has the best bedside manner. I had my eye surgery just under a year ago. Full disclosure, Dr. Gdih is a personal friend. Because of this potential conflict of interest, I hesitated to write this review but I am truly impressed and happy with his services that I decided it only fair to write this. I am a physician and during my job I rely on my vision to interpret diagnostic imaging and treat patients accordingly. I had managed for years with glasses but have contemplated corrective eye surgery for a while. I was concerned about Lasik and the increased eye dryness common after such procedure as I already had issues with this. Lasik requires a partial cut in the cornea to create a flap, this causes corneal denervation decreasing tear production. Theoretically this is less of an issue with the technology used by Aqua Laser as there is no cutting occurring. Dr. Gdih and his clinical staff are extremely professional and proficient. On my first meeting with Dr. Gdih he reassured me about the risks and explained the procedure and follow up in full detail. Throughout the process I was always aware of what would happen next and my expectations were met. The day of the procedure went smoothly, the procedure itself lasted seconds! I was forewarned about significant burning the night of the procedure and boy they were not kidding. The next morning things were better and my vision had improved significantly. By day five I was able to drive and by day 9 I was back to work treating patients. My vision now is perfect and my eye dryness is no worse than before. Glasses are now a distant memory. I truly have no regrets doing this surgery and would recommend it to anyone.

Refractive Lens exchange and Dr. Gdih Gdih Two years ago, I started to wear glasses for both distance and for reading. The distance glasses were not compatible with my active lifestyle, so I tried contact lens but could not get use to them. I heard about Refractive Lens Exchange procedure being offered in Ontario and so I flew to one of the clinics there. I was concerned about the flight back after the surgery or to have a recovery time not at home. When I got back to Winnipeg I google “the best ophthalmologist in Winnipeg” and found Dr. Gdih, and he also performs Refractive Lens Exchanges (I mentioned this fact to Dr. Gdih after my second operation, but he being most humble, preferred to simply know how my vision was now, not how good his rating is). I made appointment with Dr. Gdih and he explained with detail my options based on my age, type of eye correction I was looking for, and lifestyle. He recommended Refractive Lens Exchange vs other procedures. Dr. Gdih was calm, clear and answered all my questions. I felt ready and eager to have the operations in spite of the fact I have a fear of any medical procedures! I chose to do one eye at the time with a local anesthetic and pill to feel relaxed and comfortable After the operation my vision improved but for a few weeks I experienced issues with light sensitivities, headaches and some swelling of my eyelid. During this time, I was in communication with Stephanie who scheduled an additional appointment to see Dr Gdih to confirm my eye was good. January 17th, 2019 was my second operation and remembered how stressed out I was the first time, I chose to have the IV instead of the pill. The operation went very smoothly (with the IV-medication I felt more relaxed), after the operation I experienced no eyelid swelling, no light sensitivity, and no headache…NADA! I saw Dr Gdih the same day and my vison was perfect (read the 20\20 line easily). I don’t know much about vision numbers, but I DO KNOW I feel like in my 20s again! Thank you Dr. Gdih and staff! I have cataract surgery over two years ago. There was a new lens available in Canada. A bifocal lens. It was worth every penny. I had worn glasses since I was 8 years . Now I can see things I had missed my whole life. Most professional medical care I have seen for years and I have worked in the medical industry for over 40 years. I had laser eye surgery with Dr. Gdih about one week ago today which I can honestly say, was one of the most positive experiences I have had, and one of the best decisions I could have ever made. For the last couple of years, while I was generally a contact lens wearer, I had gone back and forth with the idea of having the surgery done due to some problems I was having with my eyes (because of the lenses), and the fact that wearing glasses for me is both uncomfortable and impractical for my lifestyle. When I met with Dr. Gdih less than one month ago, we began discussing the possibility of laser eye surgery, and at first I was really skeptical. Financially it was a commitment and I wondered how I would feel if it wasn't as great as others had claimed it to be. After some setting up and cancelling of appointments due to my uncertainty, I finally decided it was worth it and Dr. Gdih once again happily agreed to meet with me to examen my eyes, calm all of my fears and answer any of my questions. Additionally, during this time the staff were really kind and helpful in making me feel heard and safe. The day of the surgery for me, was terrifying at first, but once again was met with kindness, patience and compassion. The surgery itself was easy and painless. While the first two days post-surgery were physically challenging, I am already driving, back to my every day routine, practicing yoga, and on the computer writing this review! I cannot recommend this clinic nor this doctor enough! Thank you so much all of your kindness and generosity!

I am a 40+ year old with a history of eye issues due to high myopia. My vision has not been the best for the last decade of my life and I had just accepted this. Then I met Dr. Gdih, the only ophthalmologist who said he could help me through the refractive lens exchange surgery. He did the surgery on both eyes and I was absolutely shocked at how good my vision was. I had better than 20/20 vision in both eyes which I never had in my life before. What further blew me away was how minimal the discomfort/healing process was. On recovery all I felt was a little grittiness on my eye (like there was a bit of sand in it) but after a couple days, my eye felt 100% and my vision was 20/20. I thought it would have taken me weeks to recover! I am completely blown away by this procedure and more importantly with this Dr. He is a gift to us here in Manitoba. Such a humble, down-to-earth guy who cares about his patients and is a master surgeon. He totally changed my life. Thank you Dr Gdih!

1 Year Post-Op Review: Dr. Gdih performed TransPRK surgery on me in 2018 with great success, correcting nearsightedness to 20/20. I did NOT experience any pain or serious complications during recovery period. However, I must note that I temporarily struggled with farsightedness for up to 4 weeks post-operative making it difficult to read computer monitors affecting my ability to immediately return to work. I strongly believe TransPRK Laser Eye surgery is by far the most advanced and safest technology currently available. I have no flaps to be concerned of from a Lasik type surgery, nor did I experience severe pain that others do from a PRK type surgery. Dr. Gdih and the staff at Aqua i Laser are friendly and professional. I’m very satisfied with Dr. Gdih and highly recommend him!

I had a wonderful experience from start to finish with my surgery. I went for a consult and within a week I was having my surgery. The surgery itself was painless and immediately after I could see a huge difference in my vision. I recommend a black out room for the first few days, plus be on time with your drops, but otherwise, everything went smoothly. It's been almost a year since my surgery, my vision is perfect and I'd definitely recommend anyone wanting to get this done to see him.

Dr Gdih and his staff have been completely professional with me in every aspect of my experience with them. I just could not get comfortable with contacts. The special glasses I required were a hassle to play hockey golf and jog with. I had an extremely upsetting incident when those expensive glasses were blown off into the lake on a windy boat ride to the cottage. Dr Gdih took the time to meet with me after normal business hours to complete all the measurements for the lens that he eventually surgically implanted in both my eyes. The procedure was simple and painless. My long range vision is now fantastic. I can see things that I totally missed in the past. Golf is a lot more fun now that I can see the ball flight. I can handle the puck without having to look directly down at it. I haven’t been able to do that in years. It was exactly the correct decision for my life style. Thank you Dr Gdih. I'm seeing 20/20 both eyes now and my activities went back to normal compared to my everyday life when I'm using those eyeglasses. Dr. Gdih is very compassionate to all his patients. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Gdih when he was the surgeon for my grandma’s cataract surgery. We chatted about eye surgery after her follow up appointment. At this clinic they use a method called t-PRK which is different than the LASIK method (I had apprehensions about the blade and side effects). Dr. Gdih answered all my questions and I never felt pressured towards any decision. I am thankful I chose to become his patient because not only am I seeing at better than 20/20 but my vision while night driving (which has always been an issue for me) has improved drastically. If I had either one of those results alone the price and surgery would have been worth it; so needless to say, I couldn’t be happier.
