Had to wait over an hour in this place. Very poor time management. Another elderly couple told me they had been waiting over an hour and 45 minutes. I did not have a good feeling about this place. Do Not recommend.

I was referred to this clinic for an eye tag. Before they even called me to schedule and appointment the tag fell off and I told them that when they called. They told me to come in anyway so I did. When I got there they kept insisting on doing a full eye exam instead of addressing the issue. I told them I did not need an eye exam and they kept insisting. I walked out. Clearly they are just trying to build up their patient base and are not at all concerned with what you've been referred for. Avoid! Interesting response from the provider. The fact is that I was never rude until I discovered what this business was actually about. If you take your car to a mechanic for a muffler problem that has actually already been resolved and the mechanic starts to examine your engine looking for problems you might ask yourself why they are doing that. If they tell you it's their policy to examine the entire car anytime anyone comes in with any problem then you might begin to think you're getting played. If you complain about that and they call you rude you may even question their ethics. Do yourself a favour and find another vision centre.

Referred to Dr. Al Karmi and after initial asessements was put on his waiting list for cataract surgery. I had my post op on the same day last last spring when the government shut down elective procedures. Had my 1st eye done in the summer 2020. I was the FIRST one at PRISM to undergo this procedure. Everyone, including the support staff were professional, considerate and reassuring. I subsequently had my second eye done. I continue for treatment monthy for an unrelated condition. COMPLAINTS ABOUT WAIT TIMES ARE PETTY. We encounter them routinely at our family doctor, dentist and even at the car wash! Eye health is far more important than a script(Rx) renewal and a tooth filling! Sulo Viherjoki Kanata

Best Ophthalmologist in Ottawa West! Dr. Karmi is one of the few eye guys that takes time to listen and explain whats going on and my options. I feel comfortable with him and its very clear he really cares about his patients' well being. Very well equipped office with all the latest instruments. I highly recommend Dr Karmi however, wait time can be a problem if on a tight schedule.

Not only are the staff professional, they are also very kind and considerate. My Mom (80+ years old) was quite nervous about the type of treatment required and everyone made her feel at ease. She now looks forward to the treatments as she sees improvement! Thank you CityEdge.

This place deserveS 0 star. Wait time is way too long without notify patient before coming in (1.5 hours wait before seeing the doctor for just 10 mins). What's the point of scheduled appointment if the wait time is 2 hrs. I came in during Covid time and they don't practice social distancing. more than 10-15 people at the same time waiting at the reception. Staffs and doctors are rushed and careless. I had to bring my baby in to check on his crossed eyes. As a parent, it is normal to worry about this issue. The doctor was VERY RUDE at commenting "it was mama's fault" while dilating my baby's eyes to check his pupil (because he was crying). Since my baby is so young, the technician cannot check on him and had to wait for the doctor. However, all other people get the files passed along straight to the doctor's door whereas my file sits at the reception the whole time. VERY DISAPPOINTING, WORSE SERVICE I'VE EVER RECEIVED. No where I've been to that I needed to wait 2 hours when it's a SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT.

I have attended two appointments at this clinic and I have been most impressed with how the staff are both professional and calm in these covid times. First time I went, there were very few of us and I was a bit anxious, as I had been referred by my eye doctor. The eye exams were new to me but staff were helpful. What really impressed me was how kind and professional everyone was. The Doctor's careful explanation of my issue calmed me and I was able to better understand the referral. My follow-up appointment had a long wait, as they were quite busy. Again, everyone was very professional and kind. I am returning for an eye procedure and have the utmost confidence that I am in good hands.

I was referred by my optometrist to look at an ingrown eyelash which resolved itself a few days before the appointment. I went anyways, so I could make sure there was no damage. I did not have to wait too long before the assistant brought me into a room. Without warning, she came at me - pried my eye open and started throwing drops in. I was shocked! She did NOT explain what she was doing or the tests that would be happening. I was then sent over to another room to wait for the Dr. While I sat there I witnessed MANY people go in and out of that room for the initial testing. I don't believe it was cleaned in between patients. There was no time! I wondered if the chair I was sitting in was clean. Or the item I had to hold over my eye for tests. The machines. Even the assistant's hands before she stuck them in my eye! I did not leave with a good feeling. The doctor was very friendly and knowledgeable.

I had my first appointment with CityEdge Vision Centre last week. I found the office atmosphere to be calming and I was instantly relaxed waiting just a brief time for my appointment since I was early. I noticed other client's speaking with the admin staff, each client was treated with so much respect and attentiveness. I left the office of CityEdge Vision Centre feeling extremely positive and appreciative of the experience. Thank you

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I had a sty that turned into a cyst. My doctor recommended this optometrist to have it removed. When I showed up the guy essentially said that I had oily skin and that this would be a problem that would keep reoccurring. I’m 28, I do not have oily skin, this is the first time this has ever happened. He continued to tell me I just needed to use a hot compress and it would go away on its own. Firstly, This cyst was about the size of a pencil eraser and I had been dealing with this issue for a couple months. Second, I was using a hot compress everyday. This thing was not going away. Wen I asked if he could just book me in to have it removed he insisted that I just needed to wash my eye and use a compress. Did not want to do a mild surgery. Finally he said he guessed he could get me in within the next two weeks to have it removed. I called the next week, no appointment, the following week, no appointment. This went on for a month of not hearing back from him. Over a month later I get a call asking if I can come in that same week on Saturday as that’s the only time that works for him. Poor planning and lack of communication. He seems to think that his time is more valuable and he does not need to schedule appointments ahead of time with patients.

Dr. Karmi is a wonderful doctor. He is kind, very helpful and very knowledgeable. Same with his technician that performs all the tests beforehand. I truly cannot say one bad thing about them. He was very accommodating to my family when my father needed to be seen in an emergent case without a referral over Christmas time. However, the poor time management at this clinic really impacts what would otherwise be a great patient experience. Don’t expect to see the doctor until at least 1.5-2 hrs after your appointment is actually supposed to start. I understand it is hard to predict times with each patient, and some delays are expected but all my appointments have resulted in me needing to take half the day off work to spend it waiting in his office for a 15 min appointment. If the poor time management and scheduling issues were fixed, it would be a 5 star.

I thank God first of all, for His gift of sight, ... but I also want to express my gratitude to Dr. Al Karmi and all of the staff at City Edge Vision for the work you do in explaining the process, encouraging and then restoring sight to those who are losing it. I see that you are busy, but gracious and kind to all who come. You are all very professional, and I recommend you to those who are looking for an eye doctor

I was there today, and it was fantastic. The staff that handled the tests were great. Positive, friendly, and understanding. As for the doctor, I loved him. First of all, he made eye contact with me while we spoke. He treated me like an equal. He was honest but didn’t scare me. I immediately trusted him with my health. There was a sense that he was doing what was best for me, what he would want for himself or a family member. I really respect that. Side note, this clinic actually answers their phones, unlike the other clinic on Carling.

This clinic is highly recommended. Even during the beginning of Covid all staff were very welcoming, courteous while adhering to all the proper protocols. Every one is treated with care and dignity with your concerns in mind. This clinic is very well managed. Thank you for looking after me.

Had surgery for both eyes. Right was done well with significant improvement. Left was much less satisfactory and specialist follow up willl be required to correct damage left behind. Overall very disappointed with rude treatment at the end and poor results. Also waiting room (small) was jammed despite virus epidemic and distancing recommendations.

My experience was wonderful. I noticed that reception is just a little unexperienced, as I watched her with an upset patient. She would save herself some time if she just says sorry, I'm trying to better rather than justify the errors. The women who tested my eyes were great and the doctor was very thorough, kind and reassuring. Good work Prism especially in a pandemic!

This Doctor is really knowledgeable and I felt he took care of me with the greatest attention with no rush to get to the next patient, which I very much appreciated. His explanations were thorough and he answered my questions clearly. All the equipment was new and clean. I would recommend him with no hesitation.

I had a cataract surgery done in August and Doctor (Al-karni) said that he will give us the report which states the details of surgery done and the lens however its been more than 3 months and Doctor did not provide us the report yet. I have called the clinic so many times and all the time they say that they are sending me the report however did not received yet. This Doctor charged us around $4,000 and after receiving the money they do not want to provide us the details of the surgery. I had pain in the operated eye yet the doctor says that the surgery was ok but is not ready to provide the report. Extremely dissatisfied.

Dr Al-Karmi is a very competent and conscientious ophtalmologist. He was recommended to me by a friend and I can see why. He really took the time to explain to my elderly mom the subtleties of the eye surgery she needed as well as provided valuable advice about her eyesight and possible migraines up until now. He really treated us with respect and attention which is so often missing in doctors' offices...

While Dr. El Karmi is a competent and kind doctor, my rating reflects the long period of time that patients have to wait in his clinic before they see him or his technicians. These waits are often over the lunch hour, with no advanced warning to his patients, most of whom are seniors. Scheduling needs to be optimized out of respect/appreciation for patients' time and basic needs (i.e., need to eat at lunchtime).

I was there with my two year old daughter and we would have liked to have a more welcoming experience. We were the first patients to arrive early in the morning and no one was there to provide COVID protocol. Two receptionists sat at the front desk looking at my daughter and I so I had to enter and sit down so that I could fill out the clip board. Once I was done, another patient entered so I left the clip board with the front receptionist. The other patient asked me to put it outside but I was busy looking after my two year old! The receptionist loudly thanked that other patient for leaving it outside for the next person. As I sat there the receptionist looked at me and asked if I had filled out the other new patient form. I said no because I didn't know I had to do this and she said it was because I came in and sat down. OK I filled it out and sat down without saying anything. Later during our visit, my daughter needed a diaper change so we went out and did that - disrupting their queue. After we returned, whenever my daughter cried, they would close our room door. Sorry, but that's what toddlers, do. They cry sometimes when they are waiting. Lastly, I don't want to mention this but it might be relevant to mention, I am a woman of colour and sometimes this happens and is swept under the rug. All things considered, I don't think I will return here in the future.
