ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! Made an appointment that they couldn't even verify when I got there-then made a new appointment but got sent away, without the scheduled test, because of low income, even though ohip covers the eye exam. I not only wasted my time going there, but filling out papers and waiting all to be told they can't do anything. I feel a little discriminated by their so called professionalism. Would never go back there.

review date: october 6, 2021 customer service dates: april, may 2021 i went to mountain eye care to get an eye exam back in april/may 2021. eyeglasses were recommended after the exam results. dr. barry did a good job explaining the difference of my current eyesight vs having the eyeglasses, in addition to my age (47) and where my eyesight could end up with old age, lifetsyle, heredity, and my current health situation. fortunately for my lifestyle and for what i do at work, i have not needed to use them yet, but they are there in case of future need. i will say unequivocally, that i do not feel the office was trying to sell me products or services that were unnecessary, so that is a good look ???? for the conduct of the clinic, no pun intended. during all my visits, the facility did take all the necessary safety precautions pertaining to the covid-19 virus. my suggestion to others who haven't had an eye exam recently and may have forgotten/not know what it entails, would be to get a ride home and not drive home after such appointment. i am not laying blame with the office - just mentioning this as a heads-up to anyone reading this. because of the pictures the office takes with their equipment, your pupils become dilated and they use a fluid which may make it hard for you to see for several hours afterwards. dr. eric barry did an excellent job overall, displayed good people skills and patience with my questions both with the eye exam and subsequent recommendations of buying and using near/far sighted eyeglasses. a shout-out as well to kim, who is one of the clinic technicians. was very sincere, caring, kind-hearted and took every precaution to ensure a positive eye clinic experience. this office is very fortunate to have excellent people like dr. barry and kim.???? the other younger-aged office staff are polite and unfortunately, some of them are just there for a paycheck. if you don't like working in an office environment and dealing with the public, perhaps seek employment elsewhere? also, one star gets knocked off for having to repeat unanswered questions in emails sent to the office. bottom line: if you are looking for a clinic of choice, ask lots of questions, do your research and look ???? around. for my experience, i would use mountain eye care again and would recommend mountain as an eye clinic of choice to be considered.

I found the people who work at Mountain Eye Care to be incredibly knowledgable, helpful and even fun. The girl at the front desk was helpful for calling my insurance company to find out the details of my coverage. The optomistrist was fast and thorough and took time to answer my questions. The women who helped me pick and fit glasses were great - helpful but not annoying. I was dreading the experience as I find these kind of things are usually painful but this was a really great experience. I also think they have a good selection of both eye glasses and sun glasses.

I was skeptical due to the fact that i had seen 3 other doctors and no one could tell me about my eye condition. A Doctor (who i wont name) said it was kataraconis another said it wasnt another doctor said it was and that a corneal transplant was needed. Dr.Zaugg took the time to diagnose my eye condition. It turned out to be a mixed astigmatism that i needed either glasses or contact lenses. Dr.Zaugg has a great attitude, very pleasant and professional approach. I cant recommend him enough. I had my first appointment with Mountain Eye Care after having gone to several other eye doctors in the past. Mountain Eye Care is very thorough in comparison to other optometrists I've visited in the past. This is the first Eye doctor who has given me a trial pair of contact lenses after my appointment and had me come back for a follow up appointment to make sure everything was going smoothly with my prescription. During covid, I felt safe; they took extra precautions to avoid interaction with other clients and unnecessary exposure to other people and screened at the door to control the amount of foot traffic within the office. I would definitely recommend going to Mountain Eye Care and will be returning for future appointments 100%.

They discriminate. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I am essential worker. I am a truck driver hauling essential Goods to keep the economy going and I need my eyes tested but yet they refuse to see me because I cross the border. That is discrimination. I guess I will keep driving down the highway blind and cause a crash because I will never be able to get my eyes tested. Maybe I need to just lie about crossing the border, that is the easy way to get my eyes tested but lying is not for me. I am in the states every few days for my job and I have been crossing all through lockdown. These people do not understand this virus is everywhere and it makes no difference if I cross the border or not. Discrimination against essential workers should be a hate crime and for that I highly recommend no one uses this Eye Care Center for anything. Please avoid it like they all have the plague. I am going to contact a lawyer and see what my options are for dealing with this.

I was following up on the repair of a torn retina from one year earlier with this visit. Everyone who works in the office were so pleasant and helpful. Only after a thorough eye examinination did the doctor reassure me that I had no lasting repercussions from the earlier problem I experienced. It was all very reassuring. Staff are always personable, yet professional. Highly recommend. This place was exactly what I needed. This was a 2nd opinion as I didn't agree with what the other place said. They explained everything to me in regular words. Not pushy at all. Very friendly and professional when i first had my appointment. After wating over 2 weeks for my glasses when i was told they would be ready in a week i called them and they said they had to send one pair back and couldn't locate the other pair, they said they would call me back. I waited a few hours nithing so i called them again and it was like they didn't know anything about my first call. I finally go to pick them up and one pair wasn't what i picked so now i wait again. Over a week later i get an email asking me to call to make an appointment to pick them up so i do and get a message that they are closed till Tuesday. Very disappointing on how it was all handled.

I visited Mountain Eye Care for a 2nd eye exam within 4 months at the recommendation of my family doctor because I was experiencing irritation, slight pain and a sensation of something in my right eye. I had previously been diagnosed with dry eyes and wanted to confirm the concern was dry eye related and not anything else. The reception and technicians at Mountain Eye were friendly and professional. I was seen by Dr. Chadda who scolded me for not following the dry eye care routine precisely as previously advised. He also went into detail, without being asked, defending the treatment regiment and products the clinic recommends and sells. I was made to feel stupid and that I was wasting his time. Reassurance regarding the condition would have sufficed. I had a similar sense when I saw Dr. Chadda the first time in February of arrogance and the expectation that you 'don't question the doctor'. When I discussed my feelings with my husband, he agreed he also sensed some narcissism and arrogance when examined by Dr. Chadda. We will not return as we'd prefer to see a professional who cares about and shows respect for their patients.

When the opportunity at work arose to recommend mountain eye care I was happy to put your name forward. Needed to replace my lenses they ordered and received super fast especially during this covid issues, rescheduled my appointment to make it 3 days earlier then what it was meant to be because I was in need of my new lenses, super quick to install was supposed to be 45min took about 20! Yesterday our 4 month old daughter hurt her eye with her hand. I wasn’t completely sure if it was just her little fist or nails. The majority of the day she suffered and once she finally did open her eye I realized it was serious. I called your clinic at 3:45 and you had us in by 4:15 to check her out. As traumatized first time parents, we can’t thank you enough for seeing us as quickly as you did. Our baby did in fact scratch her eye and we were prescribed drops. The check up was smooth and compassionate. The doctor was fantastic, gentle and calm. The staff members were kind and courteous. Awesome clinic! Thank you thank you thank you!

I have been attended to by Dr Zaugg a couple of times and he is nothing short of amazing. Best Optometrist Visit Ever! I was referred to the Mountain Eye Care by my NP Ms. Wheeler at my Diabetic Appointment at the McMaster University Medical Centers (Boris Clinic.) She advised that I should have my Eye's checked yearly...now that I have Type 2 Diabetes. She referred me to Mountain Eye Care because it was very close and accessible to my neighborhood. So...after my appointment I went straight to it, and made an appointment for the following Monday! Wow...fast scheduling! The Staff are very professional and kind, and they seem to enjoy their working environment too! The Doctor that saw me was very top notch and well mannered. He pointed out to me that while I had good sharp vision and responded well to imaging, he made it a point to be direct and suggest to me that I had 2 or 3 Perforations in my Right Eye...Shocker, I know! He suggested that I will need to get Laser Eye Surgery done shortly, or I may possibly lose sight in that Eye in as little as 3 Months! I was very apprehensive and nervous of course...but so grateful that it was brought to my immediate attention! Best of all...I didn't have to wait very long and I was in today and had the procedure done just 8 Days later! No pain, just a few heavy tears and a pair of Sunglasses and I am now seeing clearly with no irritation...Amazing what they can do now!!! I called Ms. Wheeler at the Boris Clinic at McMaster the next day after the first appointment...and thanked her for this referral and what it revealed. I also want to thank especially...the Doctor(s) and Staff at Mountain Eye Clinic for a prudent and quick resolution to my Eye Issue! 1st Class Care and great folks too! I also wish to express my gratitude to Dr. V. Arora who did the Laser Surgery at the St.Joseph Healthcare's (Eye Clinic). I will see him next month for a follow up appointment which I anticipate will be positive! My Eyes are good to go, and just in time for my Fishing Excursion Up North! FOOTNOTE: If you're intimidated or worried about Laser Eye Surgery...Don't! It really isn't that bad, and what little discomfort there is...it will end very shortly afterwards and you won't regret it. It's better than being Blind. Oh, and go to Mountain Eye Care...you'll be glad you did!

Had a bad experience everyone in the office was very polite that's for sure however they processed my order for 2 pairs of glasses for son and told me the price. They took my payment on the glasses and arranged for the test of the payment . 2 days later they call me to tell me that they have to add another 70 dollars to my total because of the lenses. I'm not sure how they get off giving you a price and taking payment and them telling you you have to pay even more.

After seeing google review i visited them last year around same time for eye glasses. There service was good but glasses were defected, i could not use it at all. I reached out to them several times to change the piece but they told me i must have stored them improperly in the box or might have slept with it. I visited them several times to get them fixed, they refused to change my glasses saying that its distributor's fault and if i need new glasses, i can get discount. I used to visit them every month to get them fixed so i can use it for few weeks. Now i am unable to get them fixed and i have to wear glasses that does not fit same for both eyes and still loose. And, i had spent $ 300 for these glasses.They are not customer centered at all, perhaps with me.

My son and I were able to book our eye exams within days of phoning to get appointments before our Insurance Benefits were done for 2021. The Doctor and staff were friendly and efficient. My son and I, did not have a huge noticeable change since our last perscription 2 years ago, however, we did get 2 new pair of glasses each. Green Shield Insurance covered a dollar amount equal to 3 monthly payments! My son and I left feeling pretty good about the whole experience at Mountain Eye Care.

My wife has enjoyed a very positive relationship with Mountain Eyecare, and on her recommendation, I became a patient there 3 years ago, after less than happy experiences elsewhere. It was absolutely the best decision I could have made. The staff has always been friendly, efficient and completely professional, and Dr Janet Shenk is wonderful! She has been very closely monitoring my eyes for any adverse effects which could be caused by a drug I had been prescribed. Last week, after a very thorough exam, she discovered an irregularity and sent me immediately for a consultation with a surgeon. It was determined to be a “blinding condition” and emergency surgery was booked for 7:00 am the next morning. My recovery now seems to be progressing well and I feel very blessed that Dr Shenk got me to the right place, with the right surgeon, and in record time! Her careful diligence with my treatment over our time together, and her quick and decisive actions last week, offered the opportunity to save the vision in my left eye. I am most grateful to Dr Shenk for the first-class care she has provided to me, and I recommend her most highly!
