Ocean Optometry is such a great local optometrist! The staff and doctors are very friendly and knowledgeable. The location is very clean, modern and their technology is always the best! They have a beautiful selection of high end frames for the perfect investment pair. I’ve had my frames for 4+ years that I purchased from Ocean and they’re still in great condition - am replacing the lenses because I love them so much!

Saw Dr. McGinty today for a same day appointment due to getting something in my eyes over the weekend. The staff was incredible, Dr McGinty was knowledgeable and personable. Didn’t have to wait and got right in and was in and out in 15 minutes without feeling rushed. Their staff was delightful and overall great experience. Will consider switching here for all my eye needs.

Alicia is also a top optician who literally analyzes everything as you speak (head tilt, eye positions, everything) to ensure the lenses match your everyday mannerisms (worst explanation ever but you will see what I mean). We've recently moved here and took an educated guess to book our eye exams. Well, we lucked out. Will greeted us and got us checked in and feeling welcome. Dr. John is friendly and thoroughly explained our exam and images of our eye anatomy--super cool. Sandy helped us to choose new frames and review our options (and Will helped with fashion show reviews!). Overall, we couldn't have been more pleased. Can't wait to collect our glasses later next week, and it's good to know that we'll have reliable eye and lens experts just around the corner when we need them.

Dropped in, in early November for an eye exam and it turned out I needed glasses. Was able to pick out a pair of frames and within a week I had the glasses I needed. The staff a Ocean Optometry were quick, experienced, and friendly. I had no complaints. I will continue to go to Ocean Optometry for all my glasses needs in the future.

Stuart took great care in serving my wife and I for lenses. Shopping for new eye wear can be a daunting undertaking. She wore the same frames for 8 years as a result. Ocean optometry offers incredible personalized attention and service. My wife opted for bespoke eye wear from Tom Davis. (That's Briticism for customized). Great service - very thorough exam checking health of eye in various fashions. Plus they had more modern equipment than last few places I've been, which seemed to mostly avoid the "is 1 or 2 better", except for a few quick checks. Show you a photo back of your eye even, kinda cool to see what they see. Not at all pushy to buy new glasses if current ones OK, and nice waiting area. So basically everything I was looking for!

Always a stellar experience at Ocean! Staff are incredibly friendly, and their care is thorough and well-explained. Their equipment is top of the line and I loved being able to see details on images and asking questions about what I was seeing. They were most obliging with answering my nerdy questions! Ocean's eyewear selection is absolutely stunning, and though pricier than other places, I can attest that they are of the best quality. I've had my Tom Davies specs for years without an issue! Huge fan of this place; you will not regret choosing Ocean for your eye care needs.

I have been a customer for several years now. I have seen both optometrists and can confirm that they both provide professional, knowledgable care. They do extensive testing on your eyes, some of the tests I never had done before and I have been a glasses/contact wearer for 20 years. They also noticed my partner needed corrective lenses, which have alleviated his constant headaches (and his previous optometrist missed). One thing to note, the other reviewers are right - glasses are more expensive here (though they do offer a wide price range). I would just like to add that these are bespoke glasses, so I wouldn't compare their pricing to Vogue or Costco. I have a pair as does my partner and we both love them. I always send business their way, and people always tell me they loved their attentive service.

I love this optical. I have bought my last two pairs of glasses here and I have zero complaints. Dr. Wilson is such a character and he makes eye examinations as fun as they can be! The frames they stock are unique, stylish and high quality, and the opticians are always willing to suggest what they think will look best on you.

Went to Ocean Optometry for the first time today. It was the best experience I've ever had buying glasses, and I've bought many. To be clear, this is not the place to go if you intend to spend very little on glasses or want to get a second pair free. This is a place for people who really care about how their glasses look, and are willing to pay more to find a pair that they love putting on every day. Doctor Wilson did my eye exam and he was lovely! He took the time to explain everything he was doing and review my results. While I was having the test done, Alicia selected several frames that she thought would suit me, and I ended up buying one of the ones she chose. It was a truly enjoyable experience that exceeded my expectations. I will be a loyal customer!

He was very respectful and asked me what pronouns I would prefer to go by and I think that’s incredible. I have so many good things to say about Dr. Wilson and Ocean Optometry, it's hard to know where to begin. In brief: The staff is incredibly kind, and Dr. Wilson is, in my opinion, a top-notch optometrist who really knows what he is doing. He also cares deeply about his patients. The longer version: While on vacation in Halifax, I developed an eye issue that required investigation to rule out something serious. Dr. Wilson immediately worked me in, and, after a thorough exam, he calmly talked through what he thought was going on. He told me he thought it was safe to finish my vacation and to consult my regular doctor when I got home. After I got back home, I consulted both an ophthalmologist and a retina specialist, and they both backed up what I was told by Dr. Wilson. So, not only was his diagnosis on point, he actually called me twice to see how I was doing. I feel so fortunate to have consulted Dr.Wilson, and Halifax is blessed to have such a knowledgeable and caring practitioner!

My partner Denny and I recently went on a search for an optometrist and decided to stop into Ocean Optometry on Blowers St in Downtown Halifax. It was the best decision ! From the moment we walked in the door, we knew we had found our forever Optometry Team. After our exams were complete, we were listened to for our needs and wants and were so pleased with the selection of frames to choose from. You will likely know it’s us walking down the street because not only will we be wearing distinctive eyewear but also wearing the biggest smiles cause we know we are “stylin” in our Ocean Optometry frames ! You really owe it to yourselves to check them out.

I cannot speak of the optometrist themselves, but have done a price comparison for the glasses Ocean Optometry provide after recently visiting, and have never seen such markups in my life. The pair I was interested in was priced at 1400.00$ BEFORE the lenses were even taken into account. Buyer beware. I am sure the quality is fine, but you can find similar if not better quality for a fraction of the price at various independent glasses retailers throughout the city.

Wow....I had thought you had treated your customers somewhat fairly when I visited, but after reading your incredibly condescending replies to your customers I cant help but give you 1 star on ground of customer service. Your artisan frames are great no doubt. Coming from montreal, I can with certainty tell you that there are cheaper options for the same quality you provide, but you would have to go to montreal to get it. On the east coast, you are right, you have top quality frames, but in terms of customer service I think one star is generous.

Fantastic customer service. Several years ago I purchased minimalist titanium wire frames - which have since held a couple iterations of updated lenses. Despite the age of the frames, the staff continues to provide adjustments, minor repairs and advice. I very much appreciate the style, quality products, and customer service on offer at Ocean.

Shops like Ocean Optometry like to hide behind the ‘Quality’ excuse in order to charge you 200%-600% markup in comparison to their competitors. Before you buy glasses or take an eye exam at Ocean Optometry, ask yourself, “Do I want to waste money for no reason when another Optometrist can give me the exact same service for 2 to 6 times cheaper?” The glasses being sold here are ridiculously overpriced . It is absolutely insane how much they over charge. Please do not make the mistake of purchasing from Ocean Optometry. I’m amazed at how much of a rip off their prices are. Here’s what I found out upon doing a bit more research: I went to multiple different locations, Vogue Optical, Butlers, Sears Optical, and Costco all charge less than Ocean Optometry for the same services. To add on to the humiliation, I found the exact same brand and pair of frames I bought from Ocean Optometry at an online retailer who could have sold me two pairs for less than half the price Ocean Optometry charged me. Now it gets more embarrassing for me as the extent of how much money I wasted here becomes apparent. After seeing the frames they sold me being sold online at such a cheap price, I tried searching online for how much lens prices should be. I found out that online retailers in the USA such as Zenni Optical or EyeBuyDirect could have charged me 1/6th of what Ocean Optometry charged me for a pair of prescription glasses with lenses and frames included. I could have bought 4-6 designer glasses for the price I paid Ocean Optometry. Additionally, even if you get your eye exam done here, then request your prescription they will exclude giving you your PD information which is actually a requirement for getting glasses. This means that even if you get your eye exam here, they will not provide all the information you need to get glasses on your own. Whereas other local shops like Insight Optometry are more than willing to do so. (EDIT: As of 6/27, I received an email from Ocean Opt where they confirmed that they do not consider the PD a necessary part of your prescription information and are unwilling to provide it. So shop at your own risk!) The above is only the tip of the iceberg for the terrible service I’ve experienced here, but this review is getting a bit long so I'm done for now.

They do a comprehensive eye check. Examine the complete health of your eye. Very kind staff and great service. Only downside is that the glasses are a little expensive.
