I had an appointment with Doctor Maillet. She was ok....she never accept the fact that I had an health exemption and can't wear the mask and mandate me to wear one. I told her she has max 15min and she did it. My experience was a disaster outside Dr Maillet's office and I wait outside of the clinic (it's ok cause I can't wear a mask) I paid for my glasses and they received them 4 weeks later. I book an appointment and Vic did all the adjustment works. She also support me to find new frames. (Good prices on designer brands btw) She was kind and respect the fact that I had to breath without my mask with social distance. If it wasn't for her excellent service and support, I will rate this place 1 star. Even if the delay time was 2 to 4 weeks, Vic rushed my order and I received it the week after. I don't know if it's only that place or all optometrist place has a 2 to 4 weeks waiting. I have my glasses and everything is ok so far! I just have to get use to progressive glasses now!

This was an amazing and fun time, even though I hadn't had my eyes tested in 5 years they helped me to navigate getting into my appointment, finding the correct frames and were so fun to work with! I use to love this place; but not anymore. Not sure what happened but they are very disorganized and they dont care about customer service or satisfaction. Purchased all my glasses her.. last time i purchased 2 pairs (Sunglasses & regualr glasses) them the girl did not fit them properly to my face therefore when I got them they could not be adjusted to my face or molded anymore and STILL didnt fit...went to ALL of their locations looking for a pair i liked because they sugested doing so...TWO months of looking I couldnt find anything (not a good selection at all) Spoke with owner and she told me she would not give me my money back and that I COULD Definitely find glasses i liked in one of their stores....LONG STORY SHORT; terrible customer service/satisfaction very disorganized and rude...I even had a couple of workers tell me it is not a good place! I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place at ALL.

Acceptable but not great. I would not recommend this place to friends. The doctor I saw was competent but not pleasant or friendly. It felt like she was taking out frustrations with other patients out on me rather than listening to me. It is also off-putting that they try to pressure people into giving five star reviews by telling you staff will get a bonus if they are mentioned in a five star review

I highly recommend Eyes on Mumford. I have a high prescription and unique facial features and finding glasses was getting stressful- most places don't have super knowledgeable staff or a great selection. I finally stopped by Eyes on Mumford and Erin and Breanna were so helpful! They even pulled in the rest of the staff members there to give their feedback on my frames. They have lots of great styles (but not too many so it's not overwhelming) and the staff let me take my time and didn't pressure me to pick anything. I can't wait to see how my new glasses turn out! I went to this location tonight and it was one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had ! The staff were helpful, honest, and knowledgeable. I’ve never needed glasses before and I was very new to the whole process. They made it so easy and I left feeling like they genuinely wanted to help me be comfortable with the money I was spending and gave me the best deal! Vic, Jocelyn and Breanna were a dream to deal with. I have nothing but positive things to say about them and the professionalism of everyone there! They also didn’t make me feel guilty for being a few years late in my last checkup ! 10/10!

RECOMMEND. Dr. Chow was great at providing a detailed yet simple explanation of his findings in regards to my eyes rather than just doing an examination and providing a prescription. He didn't make me feel rushed. I was left with a great understanding of future considerations for my eye health. I had a terrible experience at this location. The staff were unprofessional and certainly not helpful. The pair of prescription glasses that I received after 5 weeks of wait time was too big for my face and size of frame was different than the one I tried at the store. And they want me to pay 99$ to have them replaced. I just wasted my money on glasses that I can’t even wear. Do not recommend this place at all. Save your time and money.

One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. First of all, the office is a complete disaster and nobody knows what's going on, last time I was there the main receptionist kept complaining to me that she was going on vacation and had to get everything done, as though i was inconveniencing her by being a new customer. I went to this location because my insurance site listed them as a place that does direct billing (which they did not know), but after my visit I read all the negative reviews and was concerned. They called me two days after my appointment to tell me they had FORGOT that they need to do a follow up with contact lenses, so could I please come in and get a trial pair, which they didn't give me, and then schedule ANOTHER appointment. I asked if they could still order my contacts because I had already paid, they said yes (they didn't). I was told I would have my contacts in one week, It has now been three weeks and I haven't heard a thing. Haven't been able to get my call through either.

Dr. Is very rude she was talking to me as she is lecturing someone dumb don’t understand English. She didn’t explain my problems. Just what medications I should buy. I tried to ask for more clarifications but she was shutting me down so I left the room very disappointed then she wrote the prescription and send it with the nurse. Please don't waste your time and money going to this place. I saw Dr. Chow. I found him the worst, unprofessional, ignorant, bad behaviour.... doctor. My eyes exam was on September 28, at the same time I paid for my new glasses. After a long wait on November 12 ( after 50 days) called me and said glasses are ready. But when i went there and checked the glasses there 100% wrong number. I wasn’t able to see anything. But they said it is accusing to my wyes; but not. Zero star. Please don’t go there.

When I visited the clinic to try glasses, Benoit had a good eye for what style of glasses worked for me and he was attentive when sizing them and offering me lens options. I received my glasses less than a week later, and I love them. All in all, a very pleasant experience. I will be back!

I didn't want to give them any stars but I had to give them one otherwise it won't let you post. I knew from the moment I had my exam that it was going to be a gong show, and it was. What made me continue with the whole process I'll never know. From waiting over 5 weeks for the first attempt at glasses and them coming back and unable to use them (after trying them for the two weeks) , then 4 months and two other attempts at glasses and trying to tell them that they weren't right, that my eyes didn't seem balanced...one eye felt wrong blah blah blah. Finally they offered another exam she changed the prescription in one of my eyes and miraculously it was fine after that. The Dr had an attitude problem right away. She was rude and ill mannered during the whole exam. At that point I'd had enough and told her as much. I can't write the whole negative experience it would take up too much of my time. I waited for my new prescription ( told it would take 2 to 3 wks) and after 4 weeks I called...and coincidentally they had just arrived that morning. I called in the morning by the way. There was always an excuse...and they were just that...excuses. What a terrible and costly mistake I made going to Eyes on Mumford. Again, I did not list the whole experience...it was a never ending, head shaking, frustrating experience. My glasses are progressives, the top half work fine...but I cannot see to do computer work and absolutely unable to do any reading. As I write this I am using my old glasses from a years ago. Save yourself the time, stress, and especially your money and stay away from Eyes on Mumford...I just wasted over $800.00 on glasses (buy one get one free) that I can't even wear. Unprofessional in so many ways.

They were very helpful and knowledgeable with their products and services. COVID-19 protocols in full effect and made me feel safe. I have been a patient of theirs for many years and have always received excellent service.

He provided helpful/constructive suggestions to help me maintain my eye sight The ladies at reception (name?) and booking (name?) were very welcoming and professional. Ben was a real pleasure to deal with. He did a great job, assisting me during the pre-analytical steps required prior to my exam with Dr. Chow. He was also very helpful when it came time to choose a new set of glasses. He was attentive when listening to my requirements and thorough when sizing them. He offered a number of great options and did not try to oversell me. I am very excited to pick up my new glasses in a few weeks and see the kind folks at Eyes On Mumford.

Nice facilities and nice people but the worst booking arrangements. • Booked apt with lacewood location, but I couldn’t come due to snowstorm. Even though I called in advance, they still marked me “no show” • The front desk at lacewood location clearly told me she booked me apt at Bedford location at 1:50pm. But when I came, the front dest told me my apt was actually at 1:20pm. I have no idea how could they change my apt without informing me. The lesson is always get a card and not getting apt booked over phone. • Eventual got to see the optometrist at Mumford location. At their front desk, I clearly told them I can’t come at 3:30pm, for some reason, they still booked me in even though I clearly said no. Then they were trying to charge me $25 “no show fee” for apt I never agreed with. • Apart from all of these, they gave me a relatively high eye contact trail that i couldn’t wear at all. Basically threw $25 in toilet. I bet neither of us are expecting to see each other any more. As a big franchise, please show more respect to your patients. Nothing can ruin your business quicker than letting your patients to pay for your employee’s mistakes.

Optometrist Maillet is the worst ever I've seen in my entire life. She was very impatient during my eye exam today. We just started to read the first set of alphabets and she asked 1 or 2 which one is better. I said can I please see 1 again. She replied very rudely that we have to be quick. I was eagerly waiting to get out of there. At the beginning of the test itself, I told her that my right eye is turning inside like squint and it had started recently. She didn't at all speak anything about it during the entire exam. When I was going out of the room, I asked her if there is anything I need to do to control the squint. Her reply was exactly this "Your vision is all good. There's nothing I can do if your eyes are misaligned". I was shocked by her answer. I thought I was there for help. I understand that she cannot do anything given her impatience but I thought at least I'd be guided with the next steps. I just feel that she robbed my insurance money :(

Booked an eye exam here last week, I'm a new client so I answered all the standard questions, name, date of birth etc. Just showed up for my scheduled appointment, the person who booked me over the phone was at the counter. Didn't remember me, didn't have my appointment booked, didn't have any of my info in the system and didn't lift a finger to see if he could do anything to accommodate me while I was there. Terrible experience, I paid my lenses and canceled my order the day after my shop, and they didn't returned my money. They says 7 weeks and it is now almost 9 weeks and nothing, I need to go there every week to beg for my money back because they don't answer the phone. I had a fantastic experience with Eyes on Mumford. Brent was very welcoming and professional. He greeted me with a smile, listened to what I was looking for and showed me some options for frames. I had previously gone to six other places before this one. I have a hard time getting the right frame for the size of my face and style that suits me. I wear progressive lenses. The other stores had only one or two options for frames .I am used to the detachable nose pads, but this time went for one detach and one built in the frame and also color around the whole frame for the first time. The other staff, Jocelyn, Breanna ,Vic and Amber were also very helpful in helping me decide which two colors and style,size suited me for my final decision out of about 5 types down to two. Started the process in December, to have eyes tested and then ordered 3 pr glasses (2 pr. progressives, 1 pr progressive computer glasses), 1 pair took 1 month, second pair came in February, third pair came in March. NONE of them are satisfactory, I can't see parallel lines through any pair. I'm about to pick up the first pair that has been corrected- after re-testing my eyes, it took 4 weeks. The frames that I bought don't stay on my face. The service has been very poor as are the lenses. It is nearly May and I just want my money back.

As someone who has a ridiculous fear of eye exams, and has had horrible experiences getting glasses, I was VERY pleasantly "blown" away by the incredible service I was given by the doctor, and specifically Victoria, Breanna and Allison. From the first minute walking in the door everyone was incredibly helpful, and when looking at frame options, the ladies were absolutely amazing in trying to find frames that I liked, and within my budget. The help they provided was phenomenal and I can't wait to go back and choose my frames. I originally went in to get new lenses July 15th, they told me it would be around two weeks for them to come in, after the two weeks pasted I called in to check and was told it could take up to a month for the order to be complete, after waiting a month, calling in numerous times to just check the status and being told they have everything they need and they're still just waiting on the lenses from the lab, I was told they forgot to take measurements of my glasses. I go in to get the measurements done, and was told that they were putting my lenses on high priority and they will call me with an update asap Another week passes and I call in to see if I can get an update, I was told then that someone was going to the lab and they'll call me right back, didn't receive a call back so called in the next day to be told my lenses are on back order and they don't know when they will be done. I've requested to cancel the order and waiting for a call back on if I'm able to do so. I understand during these times things are a little slower, but the lack of communication and organization seemed to be the big factor in the delay The staff is super friendly and sweet but over all just not impressed with the customer service

After 2 days I was called and notified I must pay more because they charged me for my glasses but not appointment. Very disappointed! I got glasses in august, the lenses were cracked when I received them. I had to wait a month for a new pair. After a month that pair broke too, the arm fell off for no reason. I had to wait a month for a new pair with taped up glasses. Now the arm just fell apart, split right in half for no reason. The service here is not great. Seems like no one knows what they are doing. I just want a pair of glasses that don’t break every month!

Worst experience ever. Takes forever for contacts to come in and then they order the wrong prescription. Also messed up and ordered only one contact. Bought 500 dollar glasses. Told would take 2-4 weeks and it took 6 weeks to get them. Finally got them and the lens had a bubble in it which they told me they would replace. They tried to replace the lens and then heated the frames so much they ruined my glasses and the new lens they were supposed to put in. Save yourself the mental anguish and don't go there.

I am writing a review for Eyes on Mumford, specifically about Dr. Maillet. I had never been to Eyes on Mumford before, and i went there for a full eye exam that I was paying out of pocket for. During my eye exam Dr. Maillet was impatient and abrupt. She waved her hand at me telling me the fogging of my mask would have zero affect on my vision (which is ludicrous as it was so fogged I wouldn't even be able to see my hand in front of me let alone letters). She had me going so fast i couldn't get my mask to un fog in time to read the letters. I also had eye pain and a potential abrasion during this time (which Dr. Maillet made me go to emergency FIRST before stepping foot in her clinic to make sure I didn't have COVID, despite me reporting I have zero symptoms on the screening sheet or have travelled outside the Atlantic bubble... I simply had some "eye pain"). Back to the eye exam... I asked her to look at the health of my eye, she told me I had a "contact infection" and prescribed me two eye drops and very quickly had me out the door. She didn't explain or give me anymore information. No follow up nothing. I also explained to her that I noticed my vision change due to this eye pain and expressed concern that it would affect my prescription. She told me very frank that "it will have no affect on your prescription." I completed my eye drops according to what the pharmacist told me. I continued to have eye pain. I then went to my family doctor to be seen as once again, Dr. Maillet refused to see me as she thought I could have COVID... even though I am not positive to any of the parts on the screener and she had already seen me for the same thing. My family doctor prescribed me antibiotics, I completed those again. I continued to still have eye pain and throughout this time I got new frames with my new prescription from Family Vision. After 2 weeks of having my new glasses my left eye was not seeing cleary and this is the eye with the pain and irritation. Eyes on Mumford had me go to Family vision to make sure it was the right prescription - long story short it was - my left lens was only 2 degrees off i think would describe it, but it was within tolerance. I expressed very deeply to Eyes on Mumford to Dr. Maillet that I really would like a retest on my eyes and to have the health of my eye checked... as i was never satisfied with my first eye test and there was zero follow up for the heath of my eye after being on antibiotics. Dr. Maillet straight up refused to see me or to give me another eye test... her words were "until you have the prescription I prescribed you, I will not see you". That is what i was told on the phone. The opticians were able to arrange a different doctor to check just the health of my eye... but at this point I was SO fed up i went with Family Vision Clinic. Another point I want to emphasize is that I am a Registered Nurse who does COVID screeners daily. Eye pain is not even close to one of the COVID symptoms on that screener. The physician I work with took one look at my eye and said yes, you most certainly should be checked my the optometrist as I could have an abrasion. Family Vision felt for me after going through this mess, and they offered to give me a full eye exam free of charge and checked the health of my eye. They explained to me that 100%, if i had an abrasion of any sort this could definitely change my prescription... after re testing my eyes guess what... my prescription had changed and I needed to get that new prescription put in my glasses. So Dr. Maillet was wrong and negligent in not re testing my left eye or looking at the health of my eye. Throughout this experience I tried my best to stay polite and thankful, especially towards the opticians. However, this experience was just simply not okay and I truly hope Dr. Maillet learns the meaning of Client Centred Care next time she has a new client in her chair.

I searched for new glasses for three months. Normally I am not that picky but this year, I found it really hard to find anything I liked even a little. So I would really like to send a big "Thank you" to both Victoria and Breanna! Victoria helped me find frames that would suit my face and the high prescription of my lenses. When I was having a hard time picking out of three, she clearly explained the discount they were having. I bought all three! All of you who wear glasses from waking up to going to sleep; you know the value of spares. Breanna was so quick and efficient to check both my health care plans to see what was covered; as well as what could be direct billed. I have bought glasses other places where they would not call to check, just told me to send my receipts in to my plan for reimbursement. Even though I am grateful to have some health plan coverage; which would you prefer when you buy glasses? Filling out forms, dropping off or mailing them, waiting for funds; or having your eyeglass provider find out if they can direct bill? Thank you Breanna! I'll be back next time when I need a new prescription filled!

Four years ago, I had an eye exam and purchased glasses (needed for computer& distance) and I got progressives which I could not get use to wearing. I decided on two pairs, one for computer and one for driving and added a pair of clip-on sunglasses ... when the two pairs came back, the frames were mixed up and I had clip-on sunglasses for computer glasses. They sent them back and it took an additional six weeks to get the clip-on. A little over a year later I broke my computer glasses, but the frame was no longer available to order, so I picked out another pair and they were sent away ... what I received when they came in was "reading" glasses not computer glasses and once again they sent them back to be corrected. My lenses kept falling out and at one point they noticed a scratch on one lens and ordered me a new lens ... when the lens came in it was for the right side not the scratched left lens. After my eye exam, I asked for my prescriptions and they gave it to me. However, what was written out by the young woman for my prescription the was bi-focal instead of computer lens, even though the doctor and I discussed having only computer lens. Unbelievable how incompetent they were/are. Left one star because I could not leave it blank.

The staff were so professional, engaged and honest in their opinions on finding the most flattering frame for me! Victoria asked me lots of questions about what I was hoping new frames would do for me. So the fun began with many frames tired on and quick thumbs up or down with the rest of the staff weighing in. It was like shopping with a group of good friends! Please don't waste your time and money and insurance coverage going to this place. The optometrist is great, but the staff is beyond worst. So that beats the benefit of having good optometrist when staffs are worst. Its been over 2months and no results. First they forgot to place the order, then they ordered wrong brand, then they ordered wrong number. And its 3weeks in between each step plus multiple trips to the clinic for nothing. They should seriously try to get their act together, instead of saying mistakes happens when you have 15 patients!!!

I visited Eyes on Mumford for the first time exactly a week ago. I had broken both my glasses and could hardly see. I had a very warm registration process and the lady at the reception was patient with me and understanding because i was having a difficult time without glasses. I got to see Dr Chow who was very professional and provided me with a range of options. But the best part of the experience was selecting my new glasses. The team was patient, helpful and very friendly and i had a great time deciding on the two pairs i ended up buying. There was a kind gentleman who helped me select the range of frames that would work best for my facial features and both Carolyn and Ariel were amazing! The two ladies were very supportive and made me feel very comfortable. I will definitely go back.

Very poor record keeping from the front staff. Wrong prescription contact lenses were ordered not once but twice. In addition to having forgot to place the order in the first place for quite some time, they failed to place the correct order twice in a row. It's been almost 2 months and I still don't have the right lenses on hand. This shows very poor organization and record keeping of patients. Once is forgivable but twice is criminal negligence.

While my prescriptions have always been accurate, I almost always have issues with reception. Most recently they informed me at my appointment that they no longer direct bill to my provider (NIHB), which they acknowledged could have been a phone call before my appointment but they hadn't updated my number in several (more than 2) years which seems like a no-brainer when someone has their eye exams bi-annually. It isn't really a customer's job to remember to ask. It's also really disappointing that they no longer direct bill, that's the deciding factor for me so I showed up for nothing and since then I've switched to Vogue as they will do it and their reception makes everything so easy.

I have been going to see Dr. Chow at both Lacewood and Mumford locations for several years! Dr. Chow is very thorough, kind and intelligent. I definitely recommend going to see him with any eye issues or check-ups. I have also enjoyed his knowledgable staff, especially Ben who was very pleasant, cheerful and helpful during my last visit. 5 stars all around! Thanks!

The staff here are so friendly and I’ve seen so many eye doctors in Halifax and this is seriously the best place. They have plenty people to help you. Leanord helped me find the best glasses and contacts. They informed me how the glasses that you order online can harm your eyes, and my eyes are doing much better since getting glasses from eyes on Mumford!

Today at Lacewood, I had to have the dredded air puff to my eyes, always hated it. I have had to hold my eyes open with my fingers and then only after several trys has it been sucessful. Today MEGAN did my tests (along with Jocelyn) and the very first try was a sucess!! Everyone is focused on Customer service from the time I walked in the door until I left. Great Job girls !!!!!

When I arrived for my appointment I was told that a retinal scan was 'compulsory' and if I didn't agree the exam would not take place. When I asked for the scan to be sent to my email the receptionist reported back that the Doctor said that that would be an addition $47 charge. $47 for a clerical task that would take less than a minute!! After I was ushered into the examination room, I adjusted my mask. Immediately Dr. Julie Maillet responded with loud verbal angry outrage indicating that if I touched my mask again the examination would be over and I would have to leave. Then after a few minutes of examination she informed me tritely that I needed glasses to drive and she would be informing the Registry of Motor Vehicles. She conducted the examination rapidly, seemingly impatient. I was quickly ushered out. My reaction to Dr. Maillet was that she presented as patronizing, disrespectful and condescending and not at all interested in my serious eye condition. If I choose to return to Eyes on Mumford in the future I will certainly ask to see a different Optometrist.

Friendly, professional service, competitive prices and a very good selection - staff are knowledgeable and go beyond the call-of-duty to ensure you're satisfied. Of particular note was an exceptionally patient and helpful young woman named Amber, whom I dealt with on two occasions. Erin and Jocelyn were also outstanding, on a previous visit - it seemed all the staff at Mumford were proud of their company . Highly recommended.
