I visited Butlers Optical back in July for a routine eye exam, I was 8 months pregnant at the time and unaware that pregnancy can sometimes change your vision. The doctor was kind enough to advise me that my eyes could change after birth and that it was up to me if I wanted her to proceed- they could have easily taken the $110 and moved on. I returned to Butlers optical in October to have my eye exam and purchase a pair of frames, Dr. Torres was very personable she even remembered that I was expecting and proceeded to ask about my little one. Justin assisted with picking out a pair of glasses, with my prescription this makes for a difficult task. Justin took the time to help me find the perfect frame, including going through online manufacturers and ordering in a pair of frames for me to try without any obligation to purchase. The team at Butlers Optical is nothing short of fantastic and I look forward to my next visit :)

Excellent service! Galen Butler was really prestative, and the contact lenses sitting process was the best I have ever seen. It helped me choose the best lenses for my eyes, which were actually the cheapest ones. I cannot recommend enough this place.

My customer service experience with the opticians at this location has been unnecessarily stressful and unkind. I feel bad for the optometrist at this location as my experience with her was nothing but informative and kind. It is unfortunate her reputation is tied up with the opticians at this location. The opticians at this location refuse to provide the customer with their PD (pupillary distance) information unless they commit to purchasing glasses from their location. Whether or not this is common practice, I expected to at least be given a legitimate basis for this refusal. Instead, I was handed off by the optician on staff that day to a John Butler. The optician also warned me that Mr. Butler is on the board for their licensing body as a means to get me to stop asking questions. Today, after emailing Mr. Butler, my contact fitting appointment was abruptly rescheduled within hours of when it was supposed to happen. I was given deeply personal information about the person I was meant to meet with to justify the rescheduling. Divulging such personal information to a customer was incredibly unprofessional. After the rescheduling, John Butler responded to my request to substantiate the refusal of service I experienced by refusing to answer my questions. Refusing to issue PD information is a gatekeeping and accessibility issue so I am deeply disappointed to know that opticians in this province have no interest in substantiating this choice that very seriously limits customers from making their own decisions around risk and budget. ETA: I received an email stating the business has replied to my review. For clarity, the issue was never that I did not understand the rationale for not providing the PD (the opticians I spoke to know this). I asked specifically whether their regulatory body requires them to not provide the info or if it is a choice. It is a choice. The issues I had with this business in the course of trying to get this answer were: a) I was not informed before paying that it would not be included - and some optometrists do include it. I know this for a fact; b) I was treated poorly where I dared to ask questions; and c) their rationale directly contradicts what the NSCDO stated about PD measurements when I contacted them. I provided the opticians here with that information. I am happy Galen took the time to speak with me but do not appreciate the continual gaslighting and twisting of the issue.

Purchased a gorgeous pair of designer sunglasses frames with the highest quality lenses you can buy - and it was so worth it. Their pricing is extremely competitive as a family owned business (opposed to a chain) and they treat you like you’re family, too. So happy I converted here from the chains. The warranty they carry is wonderful as well. I will absolutely be continuing here as a lifetime customer.

Don't go there for an eye test unless you are planning to buy your glasses there. I had a concern about the accuracy of the prescription I was given after a $110 eye test and was told it would only be addressed if I bought glasses from them using the prescription I didn't think seemed accurate, and wore them for two weeks. Also as an FYI contact lens prescriptions cost an extra $25 for regular contacts and $50 for multifocals.

I love these guys. I have purchased 2 pairs of glasses from them. I have to wear progressive lenses now and they have a very narrow corridor of vision so upon a lot of research I chose varilux x series which are one of the best on the market but not many people carry them. Butler has them and many other brands and know them very well. I wasn't interested in discount glasses, I wanted the best, and a satisfaction warranty to stand behind them. I am a birder and hobby photographer so my eyesight is very important to me and I need to trust my opticians to help me make the best choice for my vision. Well isn't eyesight important to all of us? Very happy with Justin and the rest of the opticians there.

Great experience today. First time glasses shopper they explained the process, and guided me thru selecting glasses after completing my exam. Provided me information about the different options to help me make the right choice then direct billed my insurance company saving me the hassle. Would highly recommend to anyone. Great staff too make it an enjoyable experience.

Went here about two weeks ago. Staff were friendly. Very pricey $110 for base eye exam. I wanted to get contacts and I told the optometrists this she say not a problem. I got my base prescription nothing else. I asked the desk if I could get my pupillary distance. They said "we dont do that, we and will only give that out if you buy our glasses." Overall disappointed

Always friendly and approachable. I had Justin help me pick out my glasses and he was awesome. He took the time to help me find the right ones for me, and really made me feel good about my decision. I would recommend that if you are looking for an optometrist, definitely go to Butler's you won't regret it.

Seams like they just look for money but not Customer Satisfaction. I went with my broken Spectacles and they say it can never get repaired and may cost more for the repair. I went to Vogue and they just fixed it in 5 mins. Is it a will or a skill issue ? Choose wisely. I would never go nor recommend Butler to anyone personally .

Fantastic service,, was in there and I noticed an angered guy looking to have his glasses fixed but didn't buy them there and they said they would take care of them but he seemed disgruntled still.. maybe he was hangry. Although they really took care of him the best the could. For me they really went above and beyond to help me find the right glasses for me and my grandmother. Thanks so much!
