He truly loves what he does! The staff were super friendly even before I threw all my money at them. Will recommend them to others. Note, you must walk through Lenscrafters (to the back of the store) to get to their clinic.

I have been a patient of Rideau Optometric for 5 years.Although they are more expensive than some clinics in the downtown core, it is totally worth it! I am a bit nervous about health matters, and Dr. Chan as well as Dr. Butler have always gone out of their way to make sure my concerns are addressed. The retinal scanner they have is really cool! I am glad that I've never needed to have those dilation drops put in my eyes. I recommend this clinic to all of my family members and friends. Thanks Rideau Optometric!

I've seen Dr. Butler for my past three or four eye exams over the past six or eight years. He's always been friendly and professional, answering all of my questions fully and clearly, plus the rest of the staff have always treated me like a valued client and not just another customer. I rarely leave a negative review, but I am disappointed by my experience with this office. While staff and Dr. were wonderful, the ethics are not. I've had an autoimmune disorder that affects my eyes for 19 years. It can cause vision loss, so it is considered quite serious and my appointments are fully covered by OHIP. I have a wonderful eye Dr. I see, but in March at the peak of the pandemic I had one of the worst flares in the history of my condition and she was closed. It was imperative I see a medical professional in person. Not wanting to burden/ being afraid to go to the hospital, I called my regular eye Dr. who directed me to this chain of clinics- literally the only ones open and taking patients in March. This clinic billed me $65 for "OHIP charges" something that in all my years of having this condition has never happened. I was told "It has to do with OHIP billing protocol, which can be very particular sometimes." So I paid out of my fear and desperation, shocked that they would be charging folks who were stuck seeing *only them* during a pandemic. It seemed an extra poor choice as everyone was so frightened and losing their jobs. It felt like a cash grab. I would still like my money back.

This is the best clinic in town. Staff is super professional and knowledgeable while still being warm and friendly. Dr Butler is a phenomenal individual and optometrist who is keen to help. Would recommend to anyone looking to get an eye exam.

The staff at the glasses store are nice, but in the optometrists office... The receptionist is extremely unprofessional, and treated me like a child and would not take me seriously. I need to know the OHIP procedure code of the eye exam to ask my insurance if I am covered before booking, but she refused to give it to me. And she also said that they won’t provide me with a standard claim form and the only thing I could get would be the invoice (which is not enough to file an insurance claim even if it turns out they covered it). This visit happened on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 27, 2018. It felt like she was speaking to a child, and it made it awkward for my friend who was waiting. The optometrists don’t do direct billing, but the glasses store does. How weird is that. The optometrists are supposed to be independent yet within the store. $150 for an eye exam.

Saw Dr. Butler for a second opinion on my prescription for glasses. After examination, he wrote me a new prescription and corrected the wrong prescription that was given to me by another doctor. Dr Butler is very knowledgeable and very clear in his explainations. I Would recommend him to anyone, especially people with eye complications like myself.

The doctor at this location is very good and staff are very friendly. Their pricing is extremely high compared to other eye care clinics and some of their practices are predatory. I recently went to another eye care clinic for an eye exam as it is much closer to my new residence. I was called and told that in order for them to send a copy of my medical records to the new clinic, they would have to charge a $30 administration fee. Printing a few documents and mailing them to a new clinic is something that should never be charged to a customer. I was a loyal customer and spent a lot of money there which means absolutely nothing to them. Having an hourly employee take a few minutes to print and mail a few documents does not cost you anything. This approach is a testament to how this place operates with pricing. Look elsewhere!

I love this place so much! It's clear they really genuinely care about you and take the time to make sure the long term health of your eyes is being taken care of. They don't rush you out like so many places, but they take time to make sure you understand everything and answer any questions you have. They also take Covid very seriously, keep everything super clean, and keep you separate from other customers. They're the best of the best!

Totally recommend this location! Although my appointment was at 1:30 pm, I reached there early and the receptionist started the procedure early. She was sweet, did her job well and finished 2 examinations. By 1:38 pm, I saw Dr Dixit. She was polite, patient, answered all my questions well. I received 10 set of daily lenses which to be my surprise I didn't knew I'll get. They gave my receipt and claim form too for my insurance. The procedure was quick, smooth and I was done in nearly 20 mins. I am happy with the visit.

I had booked an appointment for a contact fitting. When booking over the phone I was told to bring my current prescription in person if it was within a two year time frame. I showed up for my appointment and handed my prescription to the receptionist with the date stamp of Feb 2017. They would not see me as they said my perscription was too dated (even though it was within the two year mark). I had booked this appointment 3 weeks ago and had to make special arrangements with my work to get the time off (the staff did not care when I mentioned this). I was told that my only option was to do a full eye exam (this was not what I was told over the phone). If I did choose to do an eye exam this would not be covered by insurance as I am still within my 2 year time frame of my current prescription, this appeared to me as a pure money grab. The staff do not seem to have a good understanding of their policy as I received different information (phone vs. In person). I would highly recommend going elsewhere!

First I would like to thank Dr. Sheldon Butler for an extremely professional and thorough eye exam. With the advance technology and the passion to help their clients they were able to identify spots of Lattice in my eye which could lead to a hole once ripped and a retinal detachment. Dr. Butler indicated the warning signs to look out for and scheduled a follow up which they then found, referred and fixed my problems. If it wasn’t for the Rideau Optometric Centre and their team of experts I could have some very scary issues to be dealing with(immediate or down the road). I have full confidence in their personnel and travel an extra 32km to get the great services they offer. I would recommend you see the Rideau Optometric Centre for your next visit to the Optometrist’s Office. My initial experience at Rideau Optometric was terrible. I consulted with Dr Alexa L., who was more interested in proving she was 'right' than listening to my concerns after my first lens fitting didn't go so well along with the admin staff. After several complaints they switched me to Dr. Butler who was kind and knew what he was doing. But, several visits to Rideau Center, spanning months wasn't helping. Not to mention the hundreds of dollars spent. Anyway, I finally decided to go to Walmart Vision Center, South Keys, where Dr. Ekanayake updated my prescription and Stephen the optometrist fit me with a new pair of lenses all on the same day for a fraction of the cost. I was very patient with the Rideau Optometric, but what I learned from this 4 month ordeal and 4 visits was that, if they do not want to listen to you and therefore doesn't value your time, find someone who will. I highly recommend Dr Eknayake and Stephen. Although I liked how professional Dr Butler was and tried to help me, but one can only wait so long without being able to see/read clearly.

I took my (now) 4 year old daughter to her first appointment with Dr. Chan at the St Laurent center last year and she was so awesome I was a little disappointed when we returned this year and she wasn't at that location, but Dr. Butler was just as great!! He made it really enjoyable for my daughter (and me!) I would recommend either of those two to anyone, but especially anyone with kids. They're super friendly, approachable, and dare I say cool. Not your typical doctors! :) UPDATE: My daughter's now 8 and we make the commute to whichever location Dr. Butler is at. Still just as great as when we wrote this 3-4 years ago.

Couldn't find the clinic as they are in the back of Laurier Optical and there was no sign in front and nowhere does it say that one should look for Laurier Optical. Though I arrived at the Rideau Centre in time for my appointment, I was late by the time I called them to ask where the heck they were after walking laps around the mall. They proceeded to cancel my appointment because I was late due to their lack of direction or signage. They were completely inflexible and offered no apology. I will not be rescheduling my appointment.

The customer service is nice. But the doctor seems a kind of not so professional(maybe just too busy). I brought my kid to this place today, as his left eye is a little bit nearsighted, which we found it yesterday. They asked for $65 as compulsory fee for retina exam. We don't really care about the money, although the other places are free for kids. The problem is the doctor didn't do the Dilated Eye Exam even we emphasized that we wanted to check the kid's vision problem. We realized that after we returned home. Now we have to pay another $115 to do the test :( Follow up: Katrerine explained everything for me, it is a miscommunication. Fast reply and great help, I think they really care their customers. Recommend!
