What can I say about Dr. Jackman and his staff? A few words come easily to mind! Let me at first tell you, I am a Senior, living in St. Johns who was unable to drive or clean my house due to dwindling eye sight! Cataracts on both eyes, one being worse than the other. I saw his ass't Tammy first and then Dr. Jackman. I was scheduled for 2 surgeries to have those troublesome and annoying cataracts removed. Surgery went extremly well and I now have "xray vision". Back to my opening statement, Dr. Jackman and his entire staff were WONDERFUL CARING, HUMOUROUS, KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HELPFUL! I actually had fun both before during and after my surgeries!1 Love these guys and HAVE and will continue to recommend Dr. Jackman and Associates to anyone who needs a FANTASTIC OPTHAMOLOGIST! Staff was beyond excellent and the building is beautiful. I was a little taken back, so to speak, about my Doctor. When the exam was over, he just exits the room with no warning. I was left there wondering to myself if he was finished or coming back. There was no one nearby to ask so I walked out and made a comment at reception that I GUESS I am finished. A few hrs earlier, someone I know was there also and the same Dr did the same as him for I had made a point of asking. As a medical person myself, I just found this very strange and maybe he should think about being more cordial when he leaves the room when the exam is finished. Its just common courtesy.

The facility presented as world-class and it was spotlessly clean, which I appreciated. Staff were friendly and helpful; very professional. Dr. Jackman was good to talk to and my results are excellent after my cataract surgery on both eyes. My long-range vision has been restored to absolutely perfect! While I will still need glasses for reading I will no longer require progressive lenses to compensate for lack of distance vision. My only suggestion is to have the pre-surgery interview technician stress that there are no needles in the eyes and no sutures. This would go a long way to relieving stress. The procedures were painless and this would be a good point to emphasize. I could have waited for MCP to cover costs but opted to have it done immediately at my own expense. My fiance has been waiting for her results (that she's been severely worried about) for months... we were notified the results were in weeks ago, and have been calling over and over again, most times no answer, few times someone rude, but there was 1 nice phone call atleast...but each time they say "Dr Wang will be in tomorrow, calls the next day, "Dr wang will be in tomorrow" This has been going on for WEEKS!

Waiting, waiting, no need to be on time..too long to wait. All else was great, the tech ladies that do the eye exams are excellent. The Dr not so much, didnt say hello, how are you nothing, sat down and started in, took about 8mins. Told me my dx, and that was all, nothing more, i had to stop her as she was literally going out the door and ask what should i do, she told me to go to the desk on the way out to get information, instructions...and left..wow! Hello, how are you, and have a nice day, makes all the difference. I paid for this appt, i was concerned about the health of my eyes, without patients you wouldnt be employed. A little consideration please. BTW, I am a lasix client from back in the old blding.

I can only say positive things about Jackman Eye Institute. From the first appointment , I was impressed with the professionalism of Dr.Jackman and his team. Even before Covid 19 the immaculate condition of the examination rooms and the waiting areas left me with a good feeling about the hygiene practices. My procedure was successful and post surgical follow up appointments were comforting knowing that everything worked out as it should. The human element is very much present there and you aren't hurried along. Thank you for everything.

While visiting St John's from out of province, I suffered an Eye injury when I fell while hiking. After being received at the Hospital emergency room, I was referred to Dr. Jackman at his clinic. I was taken in and looked at immediately by very warm, professional and caring staff. Dr. Jackman was wonderful. I know he squeezed me in amongst a very busy schedule. He explained what was happening with my eye, and immediately performed laser treatment. He was caring, respectful and explained what was happening in layman terms. I am now following up with my eye doctor in NS, but was so grateful to Dr. Jackman and his staff for their quick, professional and caring response. I owe my vision to him. Thank you Dr. Jackman, Emily and all the staff that were there on Friday Sept 10 and Sunday Sept 12/21.

In the hour or so that I entered Dr. Jackman Eye Institute I met with 5 different individuals,, from the woman at the front desk to Dr. Wang, all were extremely courteous and professional,, there was little if any wait time between meeting with each individual who clearly portrayed an expertise in each of their field,, it was also obvious that the facility itself was state of the art which contributed to the feeling that I was provided with the best possible care that I could have received anywhere,, 5 Stars plus!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for this opportunity. Your efficiency was impressive. I appreciated the posts explaining the appointment schedule, especially so that I could let my driver know I’d be 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I liked having an assistant watching out for me from entrance to exit. Just one suggestion for improvement regarding tissues:). Every woman offered a tissue after eye drops by offering the box for me to take one; the two men had to be asked for a tissue and each pulled a tissue from the box, held it in his hand and passed it along. This action of handling a tissue before I dabbed my eyes made me uncomfortable. I hope this helps. Thanks for making my vision clearer, sharper. You made the roads in Marystown safe

Waited in the comfortable reception lounge for less than 10 minutes. Every person contacted was concerned, courteous, and competent in the performance of their duties. They asked questions about my condition, allowed me plenty of time to express my own concerns, and gave me clear and informative answers. I did not feel rushed/ I felt as though I was being treated by professional experts in their field. I especially appreciated that they took the time to tell me what they were doing and why. I recently underwent cataract surgery at Jackman Eye Institute. I was legally blind and now my eyesight is 20 / 20. One of my cataracts was problematic but Dr. Jackman and his staff took all the time and care necessary to achieve a great result. Dr. Jackman and the Doctors and Technicians and Receptionists on his staff are professional, friendly and easy-going. They make a stressful experience much easier to deal with. The staff at Lens and Lasik are excellent as well. Some of my testing took place there and the entire staff was great to deal with. I'm more than pleased with the results of my surgery, I haven't seen this clearly since I can't remember when. I highly recommend Jackman Eye Institute.

I received Lasik treatment from Dr. Jackman a number of years ago. He is an outstanding professional. However, the same can’t be said for the support staff at his clinic. I called to confirm if my referral from my GP had been received and the receptionist was very rude - she had other tasks to complete rather than answer my questions. She stated I was not in their system, that they were very backed up and when they catch up on their faxes, they’ll give me a call. I was simply trying to confirm if it was received and understand their intake process.

Getting the procedure was quick. Follow up is a problem. Appointments are cancelled with very short notice and staff can’t give you another because they don’t know when he’ll be available. Very frustrating and unprofessional.
