i got a referral to try scleral lens there and i have been told there is only $300 non refundable fee to try, thought $300 worth to try it so tried and didnt work for me. They didnt refund the money i paid at the beginning also didnt reply back to my emails ! long story short ended up paying $900 instead of $300! dont have time to sue them but be aware of their hidden fees !

Human rights violation. Unprofessional and Rude Staff I had my eye surgery planned for march 2020 to slow the process of my Keratoconus (an eye disease that causes a thinning of the clear front surface of the eye which causes PERMANENT DAMAGE to my vision) but it got delayed because of COVID-19. Kensington Eye Institute reassured me that my appointment would be "rescheduled as soon as the building reopened". The building reopened June 1st and I haven't had any communication until August. By this point my vision has gotten worse really fast. I called reception various times through the month but I got no answer to reschedule. I left voicemails saying it was an emergency but no answer. This past week (September 11th-16th I called 6 times, left 2 voicemails, 2 messages to different receptionists and still no answer. By Kensington Health refusing to contact me, they created barriers for a disabled person to prevent their low vision from getting any worse. It's inhumane and AGAINST MY HUMAN RIGHTS. It wasn't until I advocated for myself and said I would be contacting the human rights tribunal that they FINALLY emailed me and set up an appointment. Immediately I was on hold after I clarified that It was the receptionist Tomi who refused to call me back after I left 6 messages, and after that she was very condescending and HUNG UP on me. I deserved an apology on that phone call and Kensington Eye Institute needs to take accountability for their poor receptionist service and treatment of disabled clients. If anyone has a similar experience please contact me. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Dr Calafati is so smart and excellent at her job. She’s such a pleasant, positive lady. She was able to figure out what was wrong with my eye, and she was able to successfully perform a procedure to correct the problem on the same day as my diagnostic appointment! She’s a hero. Thank you so much Dr Calafati!

From the first consultation that my husband and I had with Dr. El Defrawy, we were impressed with his respectful and courteous manner. He explained at length the different options available to us for our respective cataract surgeries, never once insinuating that the more expensive options were the ones we should go with. The choice was left entirely up to us. The surgeries themselves were completely pain free and comfortable and we could not be happier with he results. The staff is all wonderful, especially Liz, whose efficient manner inspires much confidence. If I had to find a negative it would be that appointment times are not adhered to, but I suppose there are various issues that might effect this. All in all, our experience with the Kensington Eye Institute has been extremely favourable and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone requiring cataract surgery.

Request a referral to ANYONE other than Dr. Mancini in this office. He reports to insurance that he tests for things that he doesn’t, performs minimal testing at best, and chases the nurses around the office more than providing focussed attention to his patients. As a result, his reporting has caused significant delays in my husbands treatment. His prognosis was dry eye, when in fact, both of my husband’s pupils differ in size. Our optometrist is far more trusted, thorough, and adept than Mancini. ASK FOR SOMEONE ELSE!

Excellent eye care clinic. Dr. Matthew Bujak Is one of the best Drs. I went from having a damaged permanent lense to having a successful cornea transplant ???? Thank you and I’m forever grateful.

I waited over an hour and a half for my surgery. However, the surgery was quick and absolutely painless. I'm amazed at how fast my eye is healing and well I can see with only the left one done so far. I'm very annoyed and concerned because I was rushed once we got into pre-op. One of the nurses removed my glasses from my face as she was taking my blood pressure on my right arm and another was putting the IV port into my left hand. I told the nurse where to put my glasses so I'd have them. The next day when I went to put them on, they were missing. I have called several times and no one appears to be concerned. I'm continually being told, "oh, you lost your glasses." No, I did not lose my glasses, one of your nurses did!!! Three days now without any satisfaction! I see my surgeon on friday to see what they plan on doing. I'll be taking my $1200 receipt with me! Surgery - Excellent Service - Crapola My surgeon was surprised about my missing glasses when I saw him next. Then one afternoon when I opened my apartment door, a package was sitting there. Behold, my glasses...no note, no return address, nothing but my glasses. On December 17, 2019, I went for my second cataract. Service was much better, no rushing this time and the surgery was over in minutes and equally painless. I was fine for Christmas activities.

"I was pleasantly overwhelmed with the care, comfort and professionalism that I received at the Kensington Eye Institute on March 26 2019! I would not hesitate to recommend this organization to any one who requires eye care of any type. From the moment I stepped up to the reception until I was on my way home, the attention I was given was by far the best I have received compared to other medical practitioners. Thank you so much to Dr. Peter Kertes and his staff! and the entire staff at Kensington!"

Chigadee London

Totally disorganised office. The receptionist had me waiting in the wrong waiting room for an hour! So now wondering if I am going to see the right doctor! Very unprofessional.

Martha Riaño

the doctor tom and team very kind make you feel comfortable while you're in they care

Leonard Howell

Dr. Cao is one of the best you will find in Canada. Her practice is a finely oiled machine and operates to perfection every time. Went twice (each eye) and everything was perfect!

Dahlia Y.

The staff were caring, helpful and patient. Glad we were able to get our surgery there.

Ashley Allinson

Had cataract surgery here and it literally changed my life. Dr. Rai and his team made everything as smooth as possible on surgery day. Would recommend to anyone

Mark S

Had a cataract and got referred here to get the testing and surgery done. Very highly professional environment. Dr. Rai was very responsive and made me feel comfortable. Being one of the younger patients with a cataract, I was a little worried, but Dr. Rai and the staff made me feel confident. Surgery was a success and now have 20/20 vision. Will refer anyone suffering with eye injuries to come here!

For some reason, I was scheduled for a 3pm appointment, and when I arrived, I was told there was a two-hour wait. Why schedule appointments like this when reception tells me this is their normal procedure? The waiting room was crammed, so obviously coronavirus is not a concern if everyone is packed into the hallways. It seems the Old Normal is back. Update: notice the "Response" from "the owner" - I did provide my contact information. Do you think I was contacted after that? In a word: No. And exactly what I expected from this place.

Elizabeth Lambert

Dr Micieli has taken amazing care of me from day one. I've always gotten the best care, treatment and service. He is helping me to figure out what's going on, along with a team of other Dr's. They all talk and have been outstanding. Thank you for your continued help. We will figure this out one day ????

Rafal G

Complete lack of any respect for clients - I called 5 times now to try to reschedule an appointment - keeps putting me through a many of options and then supposedly transfers to reception but no one ever picks up or returns voicemails.

Helpful. Good hours.

Ankit Patel

Terrible scheduling, had my procedure done with Dr Lou, she is great. For follow up test I am suppose to wait for 30 mins, I have been waiting for over 2 hours. I mean follow up takes less than 5 minutes. So I have been at clinic since 8 am and still here after 3 hours. Instead of telling me how long will it take for my follow up test, receptionist says wait in the room and you will be called. Thank you that helps. I am waiting while writing this review.

Megan Pekilis

Very negative experience with this place. I was in emergency for a suspected ocular migraine, but the emergency doctor booked an appointment at Kensington Eye Institute for the following day to make sure my eye did not have any issues. My appointment was for 1:15 pm on Friday and I waited until 1:30 to ask how long the wait would be as I wanted to go back to work. The receptionist immediately gave me attitude and said "you're an add on, we have regular appointments". Honestly, I clearly did not know I was an add on or that this was an emergency clinic with long waits. Had the receptionist explained that to me and had in mind that I A) was in pain and B) I am a patient and I am here as an add on because I've had an emergency, then maybe I wouldn't have gotten so upset. That's not all! First I saw a resident doctor. She introduced herself and I assumed she was the only individual I would be seeing. While she was doing one of the tests, I was laying down and the head rest dropped down. It was very startling as she was already poking my eyes (quite rough and invasive) and I was already extremely uncomfortable. No apology was given. Then she proceeded to take a phone call and text in the middle of the appointment. Then another doctor came in, she introduced herself but did not say she was another resident doctor. She repeated the same test and again, I was extremely uncomfortable. Then they both were talking and I had no idea what they were discussing, but it was about my eyes; as though I wasn't in the room. Then they asked me to wait further and said the doctor would be in shortly. I was shocked! That second person was not even the doctor, nor did either of these people give me the option of saying no to seeing a resident doctor. I felt used as a personal guinea pig. I was there for TWO HOURS at that point. Finally the doctor came and repeated another test and put MORE DROPS in my eyes (third time). All and all, I had FOUR PEOPLE poke my eyes in two days. The emergency doctor the day before, two resident doctors and the actual doctor. Unbelievable. I complained to the office manager and she was the only nice, caring person there. Don't ever go to this place. It is awful! I was there for three hours in the end.

I’ve been here three times accompanying family members for cataract surgery, twice with my mum and once with my husband. I can’t speak highly enough about the quality of care, staff, and overall experience. Dr. El-Dafrawi (sorry if that’s spelled wrong) was kind and didn’t pressure us into paying for a more expensive lens or anything like that. He also very patiently answered all our questions. The front desk staff was very helpful as well, especially Liz who helped us with insurance stuff very quickly. Thank you all so much!

Rob Arbuckle

After reading some of the comments here I’m shocked. Most of these complaints are ridiculous I have seen dozens of eye doctors across the world. Trust me you don t know how lucky we are here. One complaint I saw here was regarding a $300 deposit on sclera lenses. Do you have any idea how much you would pay for these lenses in Boston? Lay check 15000_uSD. As for some of the other complaints I see here. I get it. You are disgruntled but man you have no idea how lucky you are to have these doctors here in Toronto. I have mainly seen Dr Chan Dr Rootman And Dr Schoenberg. All remarkable compassionate and professional. These Drs brought me back from being blind for 2 years. Nothing short of a miracle! I could go on for a couple of pages here as I have 23 years dealing with these doctors. Stop crying about nothing. As a parting example of how lucky we are here consider this...some people I know pay $450 USD to remove some misdirected lashes in the US. A service I receive for free every time I see Dr Chan. Thanks for all the great people at this centre. They are not perfect but they sure do their best. If you feel this post is internal. Please feel free to reach out got to me. A very happy sighted patient!

I wish Government of Ontario would shut down this place. Totally unprofessional, I am surprised they are not sued every week. Do not go here. If you are referred here, find somewhere else. They are only and only interested in billing OHIP for unneccessary medical procedures, maximizing profit, they only care about their own pockets. No body here cares about patients. There is no one on their medical staff that puts the patient first. Just a bunch selfish doctors.

Evan Lausch

After dealing with a “highly accredited” Eye Dr whom misdiagnosed me, and recommended unnecessary eye surgery, it was Very refreshing to deal with a real professional. Dr. El-Defrawy is trustworthy, and personable. The staff at Kensington Eye Institue are friendly and helpful. Would give this place 6 stars if I could.

Lily Anderson

Been here for 2 and half hours still waiting for a doctor. Nobody has come to inform us whatsoever. Worst experience.

Barb Cornwall

Fantastic...the staff was very kind and thoughtful. Dr. Slomovic was excellent.

I had an appointment at 11am this morning with Dr. Lam, just to get the results of some tests completed a few weeks ago. When I arrived the waiting room was packed full and I was told there would be a wait of 1-2 hours and that this is standard. I asked why they hadn’t told me ahead of time, or made my appointment for 1pm instead of 11, and was told that there would still be a 1-2 hour wait. How can that be? I was appalled at this disrespectful manner of treating patients. Any business would go bankrupt if it treated clients this way. I was told that all other patients are in the same boat; well, if this was intended to make me feel better it didn’t, it just worsened the situation. This is such a dreadful way to treat people. The perception must be that patients’ time Is worthless and therefore they can sit around for hours on end, just waiting, I left without seeing the doctor.

Had cataract surgery performed by Dr. Amandeep Rai recently and I highly recommend Dr. Rai and his professional staff at the Kensington Eye Institute. Dr. Rai and his staff made me feel very comfortable and explained the procedure to me and what is to be expected. I am happy to say that I am able to see for the first time in over 47 years without glasses! Everything is so crystal clear! Thank you so very much Dr. Rai and Kensington Eye Institute for giving me my sight back!

Laura Stubbs

I see Dr. Kaplan at the Kensington Eye Institute and I always feel very well taken care of. I have an inflammatory disease called uveitis, which can cause blindness and other eye complications if left untreated. It's nice to have someone closely monitoring my case and taking the time to make sure I get better. Dr. Kaplan is always very kind and supportive. I had a procedure done where they take a sample of your eye fluid via a needle through your pupil. Naturally, I had some nerves going into it but Dr. Kaplan took the time to walk me through it and make sure I felt comfortable.

The one checking the eyes is fine. However, the receptionist was the rudest, most aggressive, condescending, unwelcoming person I have ever encountered. I have never met someone who so clearly does not enjoy their job as much as this person. They were aggressive in tone, maybe due to a slight miscommunication issue regarding the referral, but to no extreme fault of anyone. With her being the first interaction while entering the clinic, it definitely ruins the entire clinic experience. Especially when the people coming in are already in so much stress because of their URGENT EYE CARE NEEDS. Would avoid coming here if you get anxious when speaking with receptionists or if you're having a bad day - she will make it worse, probably. Definitely an encounter that made me feel anxious and unsettled, hope she was just having an off day & that she feels better her next shift though.

I am extremely grateful for ALL the amazing staff at the Kensington Eye Institute! From the receptionist Mary, to nurse Miranda on the 6th floor pre op team to the amazing Dr. Rai! I am beyond grateful for you giving my 81 year old father who is blind in one eye his sight back in his only "good eye". My dad has progressive dementia and the entire team went way above and beyond to get my dad through this life changing surgery. Dr. Rai even arranged to have classical music in the operating room to help keep my dad calm through the operation. I am forever grateful for Dr. Rai and his entire team at the Kensington Eye Institute. I will recommend Dr. Rai to everyone and everyone I know who needs vision health support of any kind. I am also grateful to my dad's regular eye doctor for referring us to Dr. Rai and the Kensington Eye Institute. From the bottom of my heart "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Alison

Kensington is an excellent patient-focussed health facility. Dr Rai and his team are exemplary health professionals. I have recommended them to my friends asking about my cataract surgery experience.

Extremely bad experience. I was awake as I watched the knife cut my eye. I felt pain and pressure. It was horrifying. I warned them it was difficult to put me out the and the female doctor asking me questions about previous surgeries mocked me when I told her I had awakened during two previous surgeries. I would not recommend this clinic.

About 7 years ago the vision in my right eye blurred suddenly and for no apparent reason. I was able to read with it but could see only blurred shapes beyond and glasses did not assist. Glaucoma was initially suspected but ruled out following testing which showed the eye was otherwise healthy. About a year and a half ago vision in both eyes appeared to be cloudy and my optometrist confirmed the presence of cataracts in both eyes. Vision in the right eye remained blurred as it had been since early 2014. I was referred by my doctor to Dr. Amandeep Rai at the Kensington Eye Institute for an assessment for cataract surgery. Dr. Rai confirmed the presence of cataracts and ran follow up testing to rule out glaucoma in the right eye. Once glaucoma was again ruled out I was scheduled for lens replacements. I was provided with reading material, all questions were answered by Dr. Rai and his staff and Dr. Rai reviewed with me the pros and cons for my eyes of the various available lenses and provided his recommendation as to which lenses might best enhance my vision. I accepted the recommendation. The right eye was done first and to say it was successful would be an understatement. With the new lens came clarity of course since I was no longer looking through a clouded lens but, more importantly, my vision is now 20/20 in the eye through which I had seen only blurred images for many years. 2 weeks later the lens in my left eye was replaced with equally excellent results. Dr. Rai had indicated he would do his best and expected good results but, if anything, under promised and over delivered. I am thrilled with my "new" eyes. Thank you Dr. Rai and thanks to your entire staff all of whom were pleasant during each visit and most helpful in answering questions along the way. I hold all of you in the highest regard.

Cynthia Pechenick

Dr. Rai and the incredible staff at the clinic were amazing. Everything from start to finish. From 1-10 we would give it a 15. Thank you, Cynthia and Gary Nichols

Went there to my mom’s cataract surgery, this is what in my mom’s experience , dr Bakshi is professional, respectful and knowledgeable . She will even come out between surgery if you have question right at that time ????????. Place itself is nice although right in downtown which is tedious to drive there but other than that it’s okay. Staff is very courteous and respectful n friendly which is very important to deal with senior person before surgery. Overall nice experience at place itself

Penny Bedaux

My cataract surgery this summer was a great success thanks to Dr. Rai and his wonderful, caring staff. I was impressed that my surgeon even called me the next day after each eye was operated on, to ask how I was doing. The clinic seems to run like a well oiled machine. I was definitely in capable hands. Thankyou Dr. Rai for your expertise.

Carlos Ver

When I called to speak with a Doctor regarding further consultation for my eye surgery, the person I was speaking to (Tome? I believe was her name) was incredibly rude and not helpful at all. I wish there was another place where my surgery can be performed, because I do not recommend Kensington Eye Institute at all.

Mike Coughlan

Dr. Rai and his team are excellent. I had cataract surgery at The Kensington Eye Institute and it went very well. It was a very positive experience. Dr. Rai took the time to answer all of my questions before and after the surgery. His staff are all very knowledgeable, professional and kind. The follow-up care was equally as good. If you have cataracts I would highly recommend going to Dr. Rai at The Kensington Eye Institute.. Michael Coughlan Toronto

I was referred by my insurance company. Dr. Mancini is either incompetent or dishonest. I was incredibly disappointed by his lack of attention and unprofessionalism. I can only surmise he places money above honesty.

Andrei Blinkov

The surgery was scheduled for 8:30 am, but started only at 10 and then had to wait until 12:30 to see the doctor!!! No prior notice given that it will take 4 hours!!! Total disrespect to the patients time.

I went here after going to the emergency hospital for my eye. They were able to see me within 2 days of my emerg visit. A resident doctor did a thorough exam on my eye and confirmed his findings with Dr. Micieli and they came up with a treatment plan. Reception is very friendly as well!

I was referred to this clinic and my optometrist office was told by Adriana to email the referral. I called weeks later and Adroana told me the optometrist office should fax the referral. Make up your mind??? Weeks later someone called from the kensington clinic and no one left any message. I tried calling back and no one answers. How unprofessional. And some of the staff barely speak english. Terrible!!! Not impressed

I was refered to the clinic by emerg as a follow up. I was already given a prescription for antibiotics for pink eye but was told I needed to follow up with an optometrist. They called me and asked me to be here by 230 for an appointment. I showed up around 215pm. They took me into a room and the nurse did her thing. After 2.5 hours of sitting in a room I still hadn't seen a doctor. The nurse came into the room twice and asked if anyone had seen me yet and I kept telling them no. I ended up calling another clinic, getting an appointment right away and was seen at the appointed time. Never again will I come back here and don't recommend it to anyone.

Exceptional care from a multi-disciplinary team of eye doctors who are at the very top of their field. I am grateful for their knowledge, kindness and expertise.

I wish to extend my sincerest gratitude to Dr Liao and her team, Tomi, Nitta and Soobiya over at the Kensington Eye Institute, for changing my life recently and giving me the opportunity to have vision through the BOSTON PROSE devices. My life felt dark and dismal with double vision and failing eyesight for the past 30 years but now I have such a bright future ahead of me because of Dr Liao's understanding of my condition and taking me through the steps to secure vision for me. I have keratoconus, ocular surface disease, glaucoma, dry eyes among other's, all of which cause blurred vision. Thank you kindly to all @ Kensington Eye Institute, 340 College St

Greetings Dr. Bujak, It's only three hours and 15 minutes after I left your office following cataract surgery, and already I can see that my vision is going to be amazing, although I don't quite have good control over it yet. Many thanks for the expertise and professionalism, both yours, and of everyone else I met in your office and at Kensington Eye Instute. regards, Donald

I would like to thank Dr. Peng Yan and his team for taking care of my mother with such exemplary care and skill. Our family was extremely impressed by Dr. Yan's chairside manner and his ability to explain us in a short and concise form what the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of my mother's condition was. Dr. Yan never pressured us to make a decision right away and allowed us to think to make the right choice. We decided to proceed with surgery with Dr. Yan and are so glad that we did. Dr. Yan is a talented clinician and surgeon and we would not hesitate to recommend him. Thank you Dr. Yan for your excellent care.

I had my first intraocular lens transplant here (right eye), and the clinic was very impressive. From the reception to the nurses and the surgeon ... all of it was superb. I had full confidence in the entire team and especially with my surgeon, Dr. KAHN. He was knowledgeable and very confident, which gave me next to zero fears or nerves. I had the nurse named Amanda, who was SO kind and sweet. She was very easy to talk to made everything so relaxed and comfortable. It was a good day that changed my vision for the better and I am forever grateful for the work Kensington Eye Institute does to improve the lifestyle of those with vision impairment. Keep up the good work and I will be back in October for my left eye, and expecting just as awesome care and support from a great team!

I’m happy to share I had a very pleasant experience with Kensington Eye Institute when removing my cataracts. Dr. Rai and the staff took exceptional care of me throughout the process.

I was send to Dr. Micieli from Toronto Hospital because of my bad experienced to the other Ophthalmologist who damaged my eyes first. He laser both of my eyes while my Optometrist and other ophthalmologist said I only have dry eyes. When I was called by Dr Micieli staff immediately I told them not to do anything in my eyes without my permission just examine it. The first staff examine me with just pressed the machine every time there’s a light pop up. But the second one she keep bumping the machine in my eyelashes, again I told her don’t do anything in my eyes without telling me first. She said she just wanted to get my eye pressure. Then the third staff her name seem Julia she seem nice again I told her to pls don’t do anything in my eyes without my permission. She examine me nicely then she left for little while when she came back she told me to put my head again in the machine very very fast then I heard the click then told me to moved to the other side. She went out again when she came back she with this Doctor Micieli very arrogant and told me that if your going to move with me your not going to get blind then give me my prescription. I have my appointment to Dr Lichter my eye specialist at St Michell Hospital I decided to see her, she found out the third staff made my right eyes hole bigger and made another hole in my left eye. Dr. Lichter said he should at least call her first before he perform the surgery After few days I started experiencing constant head ache, dizziness and always very tired. My head ache is to much all over the place of my head. One day I was so dizzy and my headaches is just to much. I went to Toronto Gen Hos. Emergency. My BP is 173/97. My god in my medical record my BP is always good as I don’t have bad habits. I told them what may cause of this problem I was examine by a very nice and caring Doctor in the morning. I was there for 8 hours. The afternoon Doctor came to me and given me a new schedule to see ophthalmologist at Kensington again I said I don’t want to go there anymore but she said it’s different Doctor. But before she left she said I don’t have GLAUCOMA I almost burst to tears the suffering is to much already my stress level is too high thinking I’m going to get blind.. I went to see the Dr on my appointment and I was so surprised when I found out that the Doctor is Dr. Micieli again. I when’s out as fast as I can shaking. Now my blood pressure never go down to 150, my blood sugar before is 4+,5+,6+ 7+ now is 7+, 8+, 9+, & double digits. I gained 20 lbs in 2 months even I only ate smoothies. I looked after my health very carefully my diet, no bad habits, lots of activities. Then those Doctors don’t even care but ask money from the government for the job they did to ruin someone life. I was so depressed specially it’s very hard for me to focus because of my constant headache. Dr. Micieli for me is no heart and very uncaring person. I really need HELP.

Dr Rai is very caring, knowledgeable and takes the time to explain the surgery. Very satisfied

I’ve had cataracts in both eyes corrected by Dr. Rai, and I believe he is a genius with difficult eye challenges! My eye history is complicated by several factors, and before the first surgery Dr. Rai was very clear about the risks and possible outcomes. He took a different approach to solving one of those challenges, which has worked out perfectly - it’s now over a year after the first surgery with great results, and he’s just done the second eye (which was even more complicated). That also went perfectly and I have 20/20 vision for the first time in years. In our first meetings I thought he was very professional but somewhat reserved ... I was wrong about that, his pleasure and happiness with my results have been wonderful and I would recommend Dr. Rai and his team to anyone with complicated eye history. Thank you again to Dr. Rai and the entire team at Kensington Eye Clinic.

Question

I have a great doctor at Kensington Eye Institute. Dr. Gorfinkel is so experienced that he does things quickly, yet I never feel rushed. There have been negative feedback on this website about the receptionists, but I also had good experience with them. Once when they booked my appointment on a wrong day, they apologized so profusely that I felt I should apologize to them for making them feel bad. However, I often have had rude technicians who possibly also lack skills. 1) When I could still feel the equipment touching my eye even after the numbing eye drops, instead of apologizing, they got defensive and blamed me. 2) When they needed me to adjust my head position, they just moved my head from behind me without warning. Most recently, one simply stretched out her arm and pushed my face (!) -- I mean, face (!) -- away from her, not with fingertips, but with her entire hand on my cheek. If I had done the same thing to her, they probably would have called the police and charged me with assault! If even amateur photographers can say something like: "turn/tilt your head slightly to the left/right", why can't healthcare providers have that kind of communication skills? They should have at least said: "May I ...", or "I'm going to..." before touching me -- especially the face!. They need to learn that eye patients may have concomitant conditions that make them unaware of their posture, e.g., musculoskeletal or neurological issues, or that make them sensitive to (unexpected) touch -- and especially push!!! --, e.g., fibromyalgia or PTSD. Manners matter even outside of healthcare settings, but are especially important in a clinical setting.

My ophthalmologist has moved from uhn to Kensington eye institute. I I called in today to inquire as to my appointment because I have two different dates one at uhn and one at kensington. And if the receptionists response on the phone is any indication of what the service is going to be like at Kensington eye institute I am not looking forward to it. Wish I could go back to uhn. She cut me off several times mid sentence and was completely rude. If I could give them zero stars that would be a proper rating. I don't understand how some people are in customer facing roles and lack the customer service skills to deal with people.

Very good experience with Dr. A. Kaplan and clinic's stuff. Surgery was quick and painless.

Mark Feekery

Dr. Rai and all the staff were first class from start to finish. Everything was explained with patience and understanding. Surgery is always undertaken with some apprehension but was mitigated by the professional and caring staff.

S A

Two months of waiting and no response whatsoever for referral. This is unacceptable!

I've had good experiences with Dr. El-Defrawy, he appears knowledgeable, caring and takes time to ensure you understand everything correctly. The technicians also appear efficient with their work. The reception staff, however, can be rude, immature and unreasonable. So unfortunate. The place itself is clean and well maintained. Wait times are okay.

I would like to take this opportunity to commend Dr. Cindy Lam for her dedication, knowledge and professionalism. I am privileged to have one of the best ophthalmologist to be found in North America. Yes, others might have more experience and made discoveries but Dr. Cindy Lam is the least paternalistic doctor I have ever encountered. Her bedside manner is warm, timely and explanative, while remaining astute. Dr. Lam I hope you will one day get the recognition you deserve. You have given me faith in modern medicine and more so in humanity. Thanks for being one of Canada's Unsung Heroes. cheddi beckford (Mr.)
