I've been seen by Dr. Jones at the Eye Center of North Florida for the past 14 years. Appointments are typically on time and the staff are professional and pleasant. The care from Dr. Jones has been excellent. I saw Dr. Garland for lasik surgery, and received excellent follow-up care. The clinic is always clean and comfortable, coffee is available while you wait and watch the local news. I happily recommend the Eye Center of North Florida to all.

I would leave more than one star but the optic center unfortunately kills that. The doctor was absolutely phenomenal and she's the ONLY reason we'll be returning. I asked for my daughter's PD just in case we decided to look elsewhere and you would have thought I was committing a federal crime. I and my wife were both harassed continuously about how it wasn't a good idea. Seriously, we got it after the first three times she repeated it. I'll update with a name soon.

Horrible front desk receptionist!! STACY the receptionist is curt and rude! Not cheerful or Friendly. Never once smiled or cheerfully greeted any of the clients! I let her know the kleenex and hand sanitizer were empty and she just rolled her eyes without uttering word. Horrible first impression!! Dr Mark Jones was very Professional. Julie was a delight in choosing my frames. However, never a word from the receptionist.... NO "Thank You" and NO "Have a Nice Day" Unfortunately they are the only ones who take my insurance....Avoid if you can!!

Short wait but quality care! Optics center manager, Darlene, was very helpful to me and my 98-year-old grandfather. We had to order new frames for him, and they wouldn't arrive until after I had left town! She very kindly offered to hand deliver them to him at the veterans nursing home when they arrive and are fitted to his lenses! Customer service at its finest!

They told me my appointment amount due would be added to my surgery. I had to cancel my surgery and calles and left 2 messages with NO return call. They put 2 $125 charges on my credit. I called and paid in full and still 3 months later $125 still on my credit. THIS place is a scam credit killer.

Very disappointed once again! I have been a customer for a long time. I had a bad experience the last time I was there and swore I would never go back because of the gentleman who was anything but professional in the eyeglass department. Received the wrong prescription and then he was trying to make me pay for his error! Did not happen! Along with rude comments I had not been back but wanted to give them another chance after two years. What a mistake! I'm not even sure who she was but she came in with the doctor and I had asked him a question about a procedure their office provides. When he left the room she took it upon herself to interrogate me as if results from a procedure were false and how I would not need that done and she knew that my insurance wouldn't cover it. (She had more to say). After she gave me her what im sure was her professional opinion she proceeded to tell me that the Dr. would know right away if my insurance would cover it and didn't think he would think so. And basically I was so confused why she or the doctor would form that opinion without even submitting to my insurance company what they ask AND LETTING THEM DECIDE! Oh it goes on! And they won Best of Bay? It certainly was not for the people I encounter there! NO WAIT! The lady who checked me out at the end was very kind. Oh by the way, I am a cash paying patient now. You don't even have to deal with write-offs! I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK! I would rather drive out of town than deal with that again!

Set up an appointment and told them I had federal blue Cross and Blue Shield vision, they told me they accept that. When I arrived for my appointment they told me they don't accept federal blue vision. They thought I was talking about health insurance and when I asked them if health insurance would pay anything they told me no. So evidently the workers have no common sense.

Service was fine, they are very clean and mostly friendly at check in. But when I tried to ask about the equipment in the exam they treated me like I was stupid and talked less to me than to each other. They took me to a room and handed me some contacts without informing me they would be an additional charge, and would not give me the prescription until I "try them out" for a week. Charged me $80 for a single pair of contacts, overpriced and unnecessarily deceitful. You must ask if they're going to charge you for everything so you wont be duped like I was, and don't expect good service from the moment your name is called.

I've recently called and requested to see an eye doctor ASAP due to an eye irritation, the staff was very prompt and friendly and secured me an appointment same day. Dr. Mark Jones was very caring and attentive. I'm very happy with my experience! I also had a great experience in 2001 when I had a free appointment to see if I was a candidate for Lasik surgery. Dr. Bret Fisher was also very caring and honest about my condition and options.

WOW... I can see clearly without my eyeglasses!!! Dr. Paul Garland took care of my cataracts and I can see 20/20 in my left eye for distance and 20/25 in my right eye that was just done yesterday!! That eye will most likely be 20/20 as well in a few weeks while healing!!! The staff is as wonderful as Dr. Garland is. If you need any eye procedure, even eye checkup you will be impressed with their services!!! Thank you Dr. Garland.. it’s wonderful to see my furkids without glasses!!! ????

Loved the exam process; however, sells staff was not friendly. When we explained we couldn’t afford the “upgrades” for lenses, we were told we would not like the option. When I told the sales person we were not spending more that our insurance allowed, the women behind the desk was listening and actually shook her head! They are all about the up sale : (

After waiting an hour past the appointment time, they finally called us to get started. I am sitting in the waiting room still waiting for her to come back out. The nice lady at the front desk asked if I was watching the Tv before she shut it down. Then the front desk people turned off the lights and went home. 15 minutes past closing time, we are finished. Extremely horrible customer service from front desk, scheduling. Woman hung up on me because I didn't understand their insurance policy. I actually called back and another woman referred me to billing. They don't take insurance they actually have to do a little legwork to file. Said they weren't in my mother's network which is just a lazy response bc they didn't even check to see what filing required. I'm finding eye care offices in Panama City are NOT courteous and act like street hustlers. Idk what it is but I have never in 30+ years had this horrible of an experience as a new patient trying to get an appointment. I will look for offices in PCB.

Had a emergency with my eye and the Eye center was great! They were able to fit me in that day and get medician for my effected eye! I was so happy because I was in so much pain.. Will be seen on a regular bases now.. oh also my glasses were ordered through the eye center and I really like them.. friendly people very informative in the optical!

Due to health conditions i suffer from, i randomly can get sick, and this happened at my last visit. Although i cant help it, its embarrassing and very stressful. The staff there were beyond amazing, they were so caring, empathetic, and sympathetic. They made a terrible experience alot less terrible and i will forever be grateful to them for that. To the point where i wont be going anywhere else. They were busy but took the time to stand close and bring me water, repeatedly asked if there was anything they could do to help and so much more. Thank you amazing ladies again!! Oh and despite all of that i still got my new contact lenses that sre perfect

LAZY AND INSENSITIVE My wife took my 3 year old son, which we just confirmed yesterday he was legally blind in one eye. Doing as good parents should, we took him the next day, to the PLACE RECOMMENDED/referred to us. one of the few places that will treat younger children. We've searched, Nobody has patients for children. The lady behind the desk proceeds to tell my wife that since my son required a "special"? Polycorbonate lens, that it required paperwork and request forms, (which were all on the prescription very specifically written out... written by the doctor) That she flat out refused to fill out. And she didn't even ask to have anyone assist her or my wife about the matter. My wife has been going to this place since she was a child and I thought I would do the same for my son. but I will never take another family member there again.

My background: I had a TBI a few years ago which caused severe light sensitivity, a small deficit in one eye and convergence issues along with quick fatigue. I've spent almost a year going to Optometrists in my area with them giving me the wrong glasses every single time. I finally had enough and searched out someone who has more experience in my needs, aka prism. I had to drive 3 hours to this location but it was worth it. I had one exam which went really well. I appreciate the waiting room for patients being dimly lit. The prescription didn't take long to come in, which was also nice since I didn't have any backup glasses at the time. I made another trip there to pick up my glasses and yes, unfortunately, they were not something that I could work with. Similar issues as the previous Optometrist where they were giving me glasses for wicked near sightedness but after 2 weeks of really trying, they still did not work. When I called the Optical Department and left a message about the issues, a Darlene Sapp contacted me back. From that second, I was in the right hands. Ms. Darlene was my advocate. From helping me get my glasses there without making multiple 3 hour trips back and forth to fighting for the right tint/color in my glasses, she was and is my person! It did take a while but I now have glasses that WORK for me. I wear them anytime my eyes are open and I have not had any issues. Ms. Darlene called me many times, over the course of helping me, to update me on what was happening with my glasses. She fought harder for me than anyone ever has, honestly. Darlene Sapp is the reason I will continue to go here for my future eye care needs.

Whoever answers their phones need to learn some people skills. I called and asked for some advice since they couldn’t see my 9 month old which I didn’t know I was referred to them. She literally gave me attitude like I was an idiot. She needs to be educated in how to answer the phones or leave it to someone who is more professional. The attitude that this lady gave me was ridiculous in any profession.

Terrible service. I had lasik scheduled and they canceled it the first week without telling me untill I was there! I was upset but considering this is one of the few places that offers lasik I stuck with it. I got the following week off from my boss and literally as I was in the car driving there they called to cancel again! I called to speak with the office manager and explained the problems that I was having with actually getting the surgery when they said I was going to get it. Very disappointed with this establishment and how they choose to do business. * Update: They did wave the screening fee for me, thus I have increased the rating to 2 stars.

I've been to this place numerous times for contacts and eyeglasses in the past 12 years. I'm always greeted and treated well. They guided me from place to place and rarely had to wait. People who are writing negative reviews must have a chip on their shoulder, or feel entitled. Seriously, this place has ALWAYS shown me professional courtesy. The prices for eye wear are quite pricey...that is my only complaint. I have choices, so not a big deal. Cheers!

The glasses I bought there where the wrong prescription. I called several times. Went for an adjustment. Still couldn't see out of them. Called back and was told I waited to long nothing they could do. Spent over $500.00.

On my first visit, First Rate Service, smiling people, all too welcoming and happy to be of assistance. Answered ALL my questions, and asked if I had any further questions. Also, they've since sent friendly reminders to make my yearly exam appointment, which I'm doing in less than five minutes. I'll write another review when I see them again within the next two weeks.

Edit in 2020. I returned for my exam this time, and Ms Darleen helped me fill my new glasses RX. She got me some good frames this time, and both frames and lenses were at a reasonable price. I had to add my own screws to the frames I purchased online, and make my own adjustments to fit. When Ms Darlene fitted my frames to my face they hugged me very well. She also informed me that the frame manufacturers now obsolete their frames quickly making it difficult to repair frames. For that reason, I purchased 2 sets, because I have a tendency to somehow grab my glasses with something and sling them off my face by accident. Old Review 2018: This used to be a good place to buy glasses. Lately they have changed their policies. for years I bought glasses here, and if a pair broke, they would find a way to make them work until I could afford to replace them, or until it was time to replace them. Lately they are telling me they can't do anything for my glasses because they are no longer under warranty. someone sold them to me for as good as titanium, but this latest pair, which is about 2 years old have been nothing but trouble for a long time, with lenses falling out several times, and then problems with screws coming out of the legs. I carried them back and they put the screws back in the legs, and tightened them up. that solved that problem, so the legs are now sliding off the hinges. I believe the tightening did that, but their answer for that problem instead of pulling a leg off an old pair was to use super glue, which they said might last a few hours or months. It lasted less than a week. I will return here to get prescriptions, because Dr Aker does an excellent job, but I will buy glasses elsewhere. Why should I pay a premium price for glasses I can get for less online, and then not get any kind of service.

Over 24 hours after I left a very specific voice mail, asking if they could refill an old prescription, from a year ago. Called again, no answer, so I went in person to the office. The front desk didn't even try to answer my question, but sent me to sign in and sit in the eyeglasses sales area. 45 minutes later, one person had been served. I finally demanded to talk to someone, just to find out if they could answer my question. They began to help. During discussion, it turns out that, thanks to Michael, they have an overabundance of staff. Why can't anyone at least answer the phone and return calls. Why sit an hour just to ask a question?

My experience with the optical shop was fantastic! I was vacationing with my family in the area and unfortunately lost my glasses in the ocean. With such a strong prescription and no extra pair of glasses, I was not able to enjoy my vacation without them. I sought help from The Eye Center and the service was phenomenal! I visited the facility with my prescription at hand, chose my frames, and my glasses were were finished in less than 24-hours! I was able to enjoy the rest of my vacation thanks to the great service of The Eye Center. Thank you all!!!!

Very upsetting experience, had a 7:45 appt, dat in the waiting room until 8:30 then brought to the back room, sat there waiting for a Doctor until 9:10. What is the point of making an appointment when u have to sit around for an hour and twenty minutes just to see a doctor. Im sorry but i dont have time to sit around all day for just an eye exam. My wife got a piece of metal in her eye Friday afternoon right at their closing. I called and they said they would hold the door open and could get her in. They took us in right away, got the metal out and we were gone within 30 min. So grateful to them.

Appointments mean nothing to this establishment. I'm on my last cataract surgery, already an hour late. I had the first appointment last time and waited 1.5 hours. Wasted 2.25 hours for my very first appointment. Nobody knows anything and blames scheduling on another department.

My 91 yo mother bought glasses and had to return them. Now when you call inquiring about the glasses you have to leave a message and no one ever returns the call. In retrospect I didn’t allow enough time for the staff to return my call. They have since reached out to me and are working on my issue.

2 and a half months after my appointment I called to see if my glasses were ready because they never called me. The prescription was filled incorrectly so it cost another $175 for the progressive lenses i was supposed to have. I was told that I could pay the difference when I picked them up. Got a call the next day that I needed to pay BEFORE the correct glasses could be ordered per the manager. This place is the worst, so disorganized. I wish I had went anywhere else. ????‍♀️

Was a great experience from exam with Dr. Jones at the Beach Office to Dr. Garland at PC office for cataract removal. Office Staff, nurses and Dr.'s were all so pleasant and professional. I Was especially impressed with how smooth the entire process went and the minimum wait time - even during a busy holiday season with patients trying to take advantage of year's end and squeeze in appointments! It was just a great and stress free experience all around! Thank you Dr. Garland and Eye Center of NW FL for restoring my sight!

The Dr. Was outstanding. That's the 1 star. The problem started when my wife and I went to pick out our glasses. I have VSP insurance, that includes safety glasses up to 150 dollars. I was told I didn't have that coverage. After explaining that yes it does enclude the safety glasses, they reluctantly said I could get them but I would have to pay a 25 dollar deductible. I told them I get the safety glasses for free and a pair of glasses for the 25 dollar deductible. They said no, I told them to call VSP as they are a preferred VSP location. I was told they couldn't call them. So I called and VSP said yes I was right and to let her talk with them, at which point they said they couldn't talk with the insurance company. So the lady put me on hold and called them. She came back on the phone and said someone was coming to talk with me. In the meantime my wife was getting her glasses ordered, only they didn't inform her of all the extra benefits that was offered with our plan, so my wife got the cheapest glasses they had on the shelves. Finally a lady came to talk with me and told me I would need to give them a week to get this straighten out, as the manager of the optical department wouldn't be back until then. After an hour of trying to get my glasses ordered, I said no thanks, I will take my business elsewhere. I would recommend getting an eye exam, but do yourself a favor and go somewhere else to get your glasses. On a side note the lady that was working with us to get our glasses was very rude!

I got contacts here and placed my order. They said insurance would cover 160 and I just need to pay 8 dollars. I paid over the phone and found out the next day they charged the full 168 to my account. I called to explain to them and they gave me a different number to call and that number gave me another number to call and I cant get in touch with a live person.

Billing dept is uneducated, provided misinformation and when brought up rude lady attempted to blame me or make me seem at fault!! They did nothing to rectify the billing reps error which costed me a glasses/contact fill service and will now cost me a minimum of $478 depending on which frames and lenses I choose. I have insurance and had an eye exam Aug 2019 but do to my mothers medical emergency (life support for 4wks). This health issue took about 4months. Than holidays, than covid. I never came in to fill the prescription. Than in May 2020 I called in to schedule Apts for my children before school started and asked about my aug 2019 prescription. The UN EDUCATED person I spoke to in the insurance dept advised me I could still fill the prescription since its before Aug and since my benefits were reseeting in Sept I could do a new exam and get a new pair of glasses or contacts. In July during my kids apt, I filled my Aug 19 prescription just to have a backup pair of glasses. I went w the cheapest frames I liked, no special lenses and etc. And tried to just be in and out since I had no intention of these being my daily used glasses. Than came in for my sept apt and was told I exhausted my benefit now for a yr from July 2020 due to the backup glasses that were filled. When I tried to explain the situation the lady almost attempted to make it seem like it was my fault and basically s.o.l. until a year from now. I typically choose this location for myself andn3 children services and I love that they seem to have very up to date equipment as I need to see 365 days a week. But this may be a changing factor.

I've been a patient here for many years. When I was referred, someone told me to expect a long appointment on the first visit. They were right... but the thoroughness of the exam more than made up for it. Doctor's and staff are patient and kind. When our insurance changed, I tried another place. I ended up with an eye infection and a grumpy "doctor" telling me I would never be able to wear contacts. I returned to the Eye Center and Dr. Edinger worked with me and found the right combination of daily contact lenses (one lens for near and one for far). I've also seen Dr. Jones on more than one occasion. I wouldn't go anywhere else! The Beach office is great too! :)

Terrible customer service when purchasing glasses. I am very disappointed. I would recommend to everyone to go to America’s Best. I found the same frame for almost $100 cheaper! Plus you don’t have to deal with the rude employees.

Had my first appointment here about four weeks ago. First issue: they were having difficulties using the machines to test my vision. The physician was okay but I felt more educated by the nurse. I ended up with a new prescription which I am very skeptical of since my vision in my right eye has suddenly improved? (doubtful. I’ve had a very stable prescription for years. If anything my vision should be worse). I expressed these concerns and they were disregarded. I ordered glasses but was never notified when my order arrived. I ended up having to call to check on this and was told my glasses are ready for pick up but can only be picked up between hours of 8:30-4:00. So now I need to find a way to pick up my glasses which is difficult because I have a full time job and these are hours that I work. I decide not to eat lunch so I can stop by to pick up my glasses during my lunch break. Unfortunately you cannot simply just pick up your prepaid ready to go order. They made me sign in and wait for an undefined amount of time (waiting in line with people who have actual eye exam appointments that day and are trying on eyewear etc) to just simply pick up my order. This is ridiculous. I’ve never had to do this anywhere else. Well 20mins later no one in line has been helped as the two employees are busying helping patients try on and pick out glasses to order, and I’m out of lunch break time. I have to leave to go back to work and I leave empty handed with my glasses still held hostage by this office. And I’m still expecting to not be able to see out of my right eye when I can finally get my glasses because I assume the prescription is wrong as already mentioned. No idea when I’ll be able to go back to attempt to “pick up” my glasses, guess I’ll keep starving and trying again and again during lunch (or give up and demand my money back). Awful experience all around. Will be going elsewhere for next years routine eye care. Edit: The office did reach out to me after my review and offered apology as well as ways/help for me to pick up my glasses which I do very much appreciate. I was able to pick up today fortunately and the prescription seems just fine.

I have been a patient of Dr Edinger for many years. He is a fabulous doctor, however, the facility and office staff leave much to be desired. The billing department is uneducated, reception has no concern for you as a patient, you always have a long wait. After waiting four months for an appointment and calling ahead to verify my insurance was accepted, they first sent a letter to reschedule me without even calling or concern about my time and schedule then, on the day of the new appointment, I show up and low and behold they do not take my insurance. Dont waste your time here.

My brother-in-law has been waiting for almost a half a year now has been rescheduled because of broken equipment finally had an appointment today to get his eyes fixed we were told by the secretary to leave him there for three hours and they would call us when the surgery was finished Then got reprimanded for leaving him there and they refused to do his surgery horrible business bad practices would not recommend this place to anybody

Over the past few years my eyesight has been significantly declining. Having both nearsighted and farsighted can be very challenging. I’ve tried progressive glasses and they do not work for me. Keeping up with both nearsighted and farsighted glasses can be very frustrating at times. I decided to give contact lens a try. Michelle in the contact lens department was very kind and patient and with me in finding the perfect contacts. Now I can see perfectly! What a difference this has made in my life! The service and treatment from the Eye Center "suffers" only because the doctors are excellent. particularly when you can have some time to spend with them. Very busy place, often with long wait times. If you are scheduled at the end of the day (which lasts until you are seen) you literally can be next to the last one out of the building. I am assuming the doctor is following in my footsteps!

This place is unbelievably inconsiderate of their patients time. I had an appointment for 10:45, they called me in early at 9:45. At 11:00, i was still sitting in their waiting room. I just left, they can throw my file in the trash because I will never be back.

Injured my eye over the weekend but did not seek emergency care. Called on Monday and they were very helpful in getting me in to look at my eye. The doctor confirmed that I had scratched the eye and gave me medication to heal. Been a patient since about 1990 and have always had excellent help and evaluations for my needs.

Brenda P. Dr Garland was my doctor for Cataract Laser surgery. I am very happy with the surgery No glasses! Even though I don't have to, I wear 150 readers to read very small letters , That way I can read longer. I have "star burst" at night from car lights yet but it's only been a month or so and they are Still improving. My Cost and my insurance cost was explained before the surgery. Thank you Dr. Garland And staff!

Very helpful Doctors and doctor's staff. Very disappointed with Optical people! Woman at sign in window not friendly. Came in first time (optical shop) to have prescription filled and waited over 30 minutes, no one came to help and had to leave. Came in second time to receiving window, was told the optical shop would be able to get a copy of my prescription for me. Was told at the sing in window (optical shop) that they don't have a copy of the prescription, would have to get it from the chart and I would have to leave and come back when they called me to get it. Very frustrated, I came back in a few minutes later and was given the hand written prescription.... This is all under one roof so why should I be sent away to have to drive back at a later time. Probably wouldn't have been so bad had the person at the Optical Shop receiving window been more willing to help and nicer....
