This office is well-organized, well laid out, clean (without being overly stark/sterile, and highly professional. All the staff and doctors are caring and personable. I enjoy the fact that everything is explained before or during testing and procedures. They always review any changes in medications, and they inquire about changes in daily activities plus environmental concerns. Even my husband (a former optician) has high regards for this office.

The receptionist was very kind and welcoming, the gal that did the eye exam was a little cold I think. She wasn’t rude necessarily, but she wasn’t welcoming. However the low rating would be because of the overall wait time being too long. My son didn’t even get to pick out new glasses because he had to rush back to school. I was told it was because one of the two appointments was a new patient appointment and they were just waiting for the paperwork to be completed...however we continued to wait in the waiting room, after the paperwork was completed, for 25 minutes and an additional 30 minutes in the exam room waiting for the doctor. I don’t think I’ll be returning.

Staff has always been very friendly and willing to help. From my experience, I cannot recommend LASIK surgery. It has been nearly 3 months since my surgery and although I can see at a distance pretty well, it is like looking through water or with a halo effect. My eyes are sore, dry, itchy, and fatigue very easily. The nearsightedness that I had prior to surgery is gone. I can’t see basic things like clothes tags, menus, or texts without readers. The doctor has and continues to try and help and I am very grateful for that. I’ve gone through a thousand eye drops. I can only hope that in time my eyes improve, but it’s hard to be a graphic designer and have such sore, blurry eyes all of the time. Thanks to everyone for working with me.

I just happened to find The Mountain Eye Institute in Cedar City, UT as I drove by. My wife and I moved just recently and I need an eye exam. I was so impressed by the waiting room, staff, and Dr. Duncan. They were all very kind and the tests I was given where much more thorough then I had ever had with Kaiser Hospital in California. Dr. Duncan was extremely helpful in helping me decide on a cataract proceeded that could help my double vision which after years of going to Kaiser no one ever suggested the surgery. I am greatly impressed with the Mountain Eye Institute that my wife made an appointment also. I even her from my ex-wife about how she was also impressed by the eye institute for her surgery too. Wonderful place, staff, and doctors...So glad I found them.

I have been wearing glasses since 8th grade so I know of that which I speak. Dr. Duncan cares for my husband's glaucoma and he has been a God send! Dr. Duncan helped with a botched cataract surgery that was done elsewhere. He also found that the eye drops prescribed by the prior doctor weren't effective because my husband was allergic to them! I can't say enough good about the folks at Mountain Eye Institute ~ except that I would recommend them to everyone I can!

I really appreciated the wonderful staff at Mountain Eye Institute. Not only Dr. Duncan, who was extremely personable but also very straight forward which was great because I want to be informed completely. His upbeat attitude is very contagious. The staff eas very attentive and so helpful. Kathleen actually filled out my paperwork for me because of my eye injury. I never even asked for help. What a wonderful surprise. When I enter the facility, I entered through the eye glass center. I immediately had staff jumping up and asking how they could help and then proceeded to walk me to the correct area. I loved my experience. I walked in so scared, then walked out feeling confident that I was in great hands. Such a great and comforting feeling. Thank you so much.

The procedure was drastically better than what my father experienced some 50 years ago. Every step of the procedure was explained to me before and afterwards. 20 minutes or so later, I was out the door and on my way home. Yes ... modern medicine has made significant advances.

I purchased two sets of glasses here and something went wrong. I think the prescription is off as well as the lenses seem to be not quite right. Each pair has different issues rendering them unusable. On the positive side the doctor that performed the exam was great and answered all my questions in detail. Overall Mountain Eye Institute is a large and busy practice. I’m sure I could go back and work with them to address the issues with my new glasses. However, it’s such a process I don’t feel like going back. I’ll donate these and move on.

The reviews I have read about this Institute have all been very positive. And I had thought after my visit there on 6 August, 2018 that the Doctor I saw and the staff were all very professional and caring. Especially since I am a VA patient and the so many of the care providers in SW Utah I know from experience have had a hard time with the VA refusing payment for services, some of them bluntly refusing to treat veterans at all. I went through a thorough and painful set of eye examinations and the doctor, Dr. Duncan, told me I had blepharitis and that my cataracts had gotten so bad I would do well to have them removed surgically. He told me they would give me some free medicine for the blepharitis and that he would see me when I got the approval from the VA for the cataract operations. From there it went downhill. The staff did not give me medication for blepharitis. I asked and they came up with a pamphlet and list of OTC stuff and instructions for treating it. I have followed the instructions and used the eye drops that I bought at the pharmacy and still I have pain in my eyes, dryness and a feeling like bugs crawling over my eyeball. I know I have had this problem for years - I told the them at the VA hospital when I was in Phoenix that I had blepharitis but they just told me I was crazy and would not send me to a specialist. And it keeps getting worse. But the big deal is the cataracts. My eyesight had gotten so bad that it is dangerous to drive at night (I avoid driving at night) and it is very hard to make out the names of streets in the daylight. ANd the office staff at Mountain Eye told me to make the VA send them the authorization while the VA in SLC was telling me to get them to send the request to the VA and the clinic in St. George did not have time to review the doctor's reports from Mountain Eye and they told me I had to make and appt. to see the ophthamologist for the eye exam - which was what I had done on 6 August. In this stupidity the VA finally came through with the Authorization number and Mountain Eye scheduled the surgery - for 17 September. But after everything was in place they called to tell me they could not do it. They had made a mistake on the doctor's name and so the operation was cancelled and re-scheduled for 4 October. Their mistake. My eyesight. At that time I asked about seeing the doctor about my blepharitis which had not improved. The office staff told me they could not do this without another Au. No. from the VA This not true. The VA told they had already approved any treatment from Mountain Eye. But it was no use to argue with the office staff. I think the office staff should do their job and not make mistakes like this that hurt patients and not make decisions about patients' medical care. Do they treat me like second class because I am a disabled veteran who cannot afford medical insurance.?

I have been a frequent visitor to the Mountain Eye Institute for several months. My first impression of the staff was that everyone I encountered was totally qualified for the position held, and the staff and Dr. Duncan continued to present with outstanding competence as time progressed. Dr. Duncan not only corrected my vision through cataract surgery, which was uneventful, he also successfully treated two separate and severe eye inflammatory processes, which were problematic prior to surgery.. Should I need attention in the future, I'll call Mountain Eye Institute!

There were too many patients in the regular waiting room for appropriate social distancing, so they opened up additional waiting space in the billing office. The person behind the plexiglass had her mask below her nose most of the time I waited. Another patient in the additional waiting room had her mask down below her chin and was offended by my request to put it up appropriately. The whole atmosphere here is a little too casual, with people coming in and out of the exam room without using hand sanitizer outside the door. Lens Equipment did not appear to be disinfected before or after I used it. Chin tissue papers in use on some but not all equipment. Head bands to rest forehead against May not have been clean. Won’t be back till COVID-19 is completely over.

My husband and I are both patients at Mountain Eye Institute. We have had nothing short of excellent treatment at the facility. The staff are very professional but friendly and the appointments are timely. A person does not not wait but a few minutes to be called back to see the Dr. Dr. Duncan has always taken great care of us and is very thorough with his examinations and the surgeries and procedures have always had the very best results. I would most definitely recommend thesis eye clinic for anyone and especially for anyone who wants the very best care and follow up for your eyes. I am a retired RN and have previously had laser surgery on my eyes. I have been to othe eye clinics and this one is the best in the entire area. We live in Hurricane, but prefe to travel to Cedar City for our eye Dr. As their clinic is much more professional, without the feeling of being treated like a “number” sent from room to room for different tests with different staff for testing on different eye equipment and having to wait in a full middle room with all the othe patients for a long time before your appointment as we did at a well known eye clinic in St. George. The eye surgery there at the St. George eye clinic was not a good experience for cataracts. The cataract surgery my husband had at Mountain View we so much better in many ways and I wish I would have had Dr. Duncan at Mountain View Eye Clinic instead of an eye clinic in St. George. We can not praise the Mountain View Eye Clinic enough, the Dr.s and staff are excellent!

the eye drop bottles they provided, one per eye, had been opened prior to my receipt of them. considering the cost of the eye surgery, which was medicare paid plus about $2,800 cash from my pocket, i was surprised to find that mountain eye institute required me to PAY FOR THE 3rd BOTTLE OF EYE DROPS WHICH WAS NEAR $40 AT MY PHARMACY!!!!! Why should I have to pay for a bottle? They said they were out and I had to go to the pharmacy and buy my own. Excuse me but the doctors at Mountain Eye Institute use these eye drops for eye surgery and I'm told the Eye Institute IS OUT of the eye drops!! Oh please, forgive for stating the obvious, but the Institute being out of eye drops is a fabrication, if ever I've heard one. Absolutely scandalous. the surgery went fine but being lied to is not on my list of good things in this world.
