This place is HORRIBLE almost all the appointments that were scheduled for my husband was rescheduled. RIDICULOUS that you have your patients to reschedule there appointments and have them sitting for at least an hour. They have to get better with this sad customer service.
Except for the long time I waited until everything was done, the staff were courteous and helpful. I understand because it was lunchtime and they have to eat. But everything I needed to know and the next process I will go through were done professionally. Thank you so much for your excellent services.

Pleasant Staff
When I visited a week and a half ago, I was advised I couldn't have anyone upstairs with me although I would be dilated. I couldn't see the last time I had dilation which is why someone accompanied me. The doctor's office could've advised this at the time I made the appointment because I would've declined coming in. The front desk staff were irrational. Even with Covid-19, someone who is being dilated to where vision is truly distorted should be allowed to have an esvort. I will not be returning.
The Doctors are great. The administrative staff is unprofessional, unmotivated, unresponsive and disrespectful. They are absolutely horrible at mail order prescription refills. I have been trying to get my prescription filled since August. I am fortunate that I had enough to last me. I have left several messages and they never follow-up.
My appointment was scheduled for 10:50 when I arrived the young lady told me that it was at 12:15 but it's okay she apologized for the text that I received with the wrong time but they took me anyway everybody was very nice professional I didn't wait long I think I was taken even before 10:50 but it was a pleasant experience in the doctor was very nice very informative and I taking care of even though I receive no medication or anything like that but it was very informative and I felt like my issue with my eyes which was , busted blood vessels with heel and I'm not worried because I feel like at any time I could go back and have great results once again I would recommend this place to everybody really
Currently in the waiting area with my elderly mother for the past 55 minutes and she still hasn’t been seen. The receptionist said it’s very busy on Saturday. They truly need to schedule better than this. This is unbelievable. I’m never coming back.

I was referred to Midwest Eye Center in Calumet City true to scone shaped cornea and cataracts. I enjoyed the experience because the tech and the staff made you feel comfortable and explained everything to me as it was being done. I was very pleased with the service that I received from Midwest West Eye Center. This my first visit and I was nervous, but they put my mind at ease, they were friendly and helpful. They answered all my question. I would most definitely recommend them to others.

I have been calling The Optical Department for days and haven't have any of the staff answer my calls nor could I leave a voicemail. Just left from up there after calling multiple times and seeing someone on at a desk at 4:10 pm and being ignored for seven minutes When I decided to the car she quickly turned off the lights and ran out before the advertised time of 4:30pm. It was a aggravating and stressful situation so far.

Staff was friendly, courteous, and accommodating. I appreciated that all observed, & followed Covid guidelines upon entry & during exam. Dr Koutnik was friendly and professional. He explained my exam process & diagnosis. My overall experience was very favorable.
I went to pick up my glasses at 4:00 PM on Friday the 23rd and they were closed. Even though they are supposed to be open until 4:30 on M-F. Then today (Saturday) I was headed to pick the glasses up and they’re closed early AGAIN. Online it says they’re open until 2:00 PM but when I called the offices after already driving there, the automated voice says they close at 1:00. I’m sick of wasting my time and gas because they don’t know how to be consistent with their hours. Fix it and update it accordingly. There is no reason why I should come to a place at 4:00 PM and it’s closed when they say they’ll be open until 4:30. It’s unacceptable.

I literally waited on my dr. For 3 hours in there waiting room after I had gotten my pupils dilated. Now keep in mind what I said, a 3 hour wait. 3 hour wait. Suerly this isnt the type of place u would recomend now is it.

2 yrs ago I reviewed this place and gave it 4 stars. I loved the physician Dr Albright and her beautiful patient physician repore. She has since left the practice and it has been horrible experiences since. Pt's are given appointments two months out when others are available for closer dates. They have 3 - 4 locations and don't attempt to spread the appointments out. The staff at the front desk is horrible and beyond rude. They dont say please or thank you. I came in contact with one receptionist who had beautiful customer service, I believe her name was Jessica....not sure. However, the remainder of the staff is horrible. The assistants are nice (I have come in contact with about 3). If this is a center that sees patients of all ages, patience and kindness is most important. I logged a formal complaint with my insurance company. I traveled all the way to this location in Calumet City from near Midway Airport. Definitely will not be returning her again.

‼️‼️Ridiculous Wait time‼️‼️ My grandmothers appointment today for cataract surgery was for 10:15AM they just now took her back at 1:13PM and still have to dilate her eye now we still have to sit for another 20 minutes for a procedure that only takes 15 minutes.
Midwest Eye Center has been my eye care center for 12 years. They are always professional and observe your scheduled appointment. You are never waiting more than 15, tops 20 minutes beyond your appointment time. My first optometrist retired and now I have another great optometrist with Dr. Cavender.
I can see and I feel new/whole again! They are very friendly. Very professional. Very clean and makes you feel special.

I have been going to Midwest Eye Center for over 20 some years. Just the best !! I now drive from Michigan back to IL every six months for a checkup for both me and my husband.
I would like to give no stars, however, the 2 stars are only because the staff is nice. One thing I don’t appreciate is time wasted. If I make an appointment I expect the office to be on time and ready. Twice in a row now, I’ve had to wait for 45 minutes, after the appointed time, just to be seen....mind you, they’ve cancelled twice, then gave me a new time and I still had to wait! The last appointment I asked for 1st thing in the morning, they gave me 8:15 and didn’t call me back until 9am and YES, I arrived before 8:15! My time is valuable and I honestly don’t understand why they move slowly....however, the staff is so nice...it gives me mixed emotions because I want to snap...then I’m like, I’ll just be patient...smh

Really bothered at the way the lady in the optical department talked to me. I was told my eye classes would be ready July 9 two weeks after my eye appt. Cool , go back on the 9th they tell me sorry your glasses aren’t here. No sweat just let me know when they are here so I can pick them up. Lady tells me that they will call me when it’s ready. Today July 23 call up there just to check the status. Well what do you know glasses are there. No phone call no email no text so I ask the lady when was someone gonna call and let me know she say ma’am we have a list off 150 people on Th e calling list. I’ll be darn who problem is that not mines!!
When I got there for my appointment I was told that someone canceled it a few days ago...uhmmmm, that wasnt me and the 2 ladies @ the desk had no idea who either. Then, one of them pointed out after checking the computer that the other one canceled it and she apparently didnt recall or know why???? I waa able to see the doctor due to another cancelation but had to wait 30mins. Overall, just with that slight hiccup I waa pleased with the services.

I really liked the eye doctor he was nice and he explained everything to me and his helpers.
They completely wasted 2 hours of my time because of their lack of knowledge. One person said one thing. The doctor said another, as a result I was left waiting for 2 hours unnecessarily.
We had problems with little details my father in law its for them they don't now how to write and speak English, they didn't let me be there intrepid .and they didn't get eyeglass they where going be like 2 or 10 months I can be lived but everything else ????

Front office staff are incompetent & lazy. Not knowledgeable about eye insurance & what's covered and what's not; making patients pay out of pocket unnecessarily, because they don't check out your coverage before you see the optometrist. Horrible customer service.

The interpersonal skills of the employees that work at the eye center are poor. No one smiles and greets patients. They make you wait an hour before they see you. I believe they do not have enough staff, or the staff they do have are not doing what needs to be done to get patients and patient-family members out quickly. The first apoointment was supposed to be 1 to 1.5 hours, and it lasted 4 hours. Most of the time was spent sitting in the waiting room. Yesterday, was my mother’s surgery, and they never told me she came out of surgery. When I went to check on her they said she was in surgery. They came to get me, and the woman at the desks tells me to have a seat they will give me instructions. I ask where is my mother? is she okay? She finally explains they are “dressing her.” So, I wait. A woman comes out with my mother, sits down, and starts reading. I ask, who are you? I am a nurse my name is Patricia. I like to know who is giving directions. I am talking to my mother about the instructions. Patricia says,”You can go get the car.” Again, “You can go get the car.” I ask my mother if she is okay and wants me to leave the room. Who talks to patient-family in this manner? Why did I need to leave the room? I asked Patricia when she walked my mothet to the waiting room, but she did not respond. I didn’t trust her with my mother. Why did I need to leave? What did you need to do without me there? I think it is terrible to make African-American patient-family members wait for hours in the Surgery Center without updates, or any information. Also, I think they make patients wait too long for exams and treatment. They schedule them too closely.

I went there as a patient of Dr. Ahmad for 30 years. I was used to get exam and script for new glasses. With his retirement I made an appointment and got the new optomologist as I requested one to replace Dr. Ahmad. I said I wanted also to walk out with a script for new glasses. Was told no problem. Checked in and got a whole different story. Was told I needed 2 appointments. I had to make a decision. As a handicapped person with difficulty walking, this situation did not work. I am considering a change of doctors to a different group.
I first came here on July 15 as a referral from another eye specialist to check and see if I have glaucoma. The Dr, Dr. Donthamsetti took a look at my eyes and said that I didn't have glaucoma. But anyways, Dr.Donthamsetti was awesome. He wasn't smug and plus, he will try his hardest to help you completely. When I came back on Sept 2, he did something that the previous eye specialist refused to do. And that is clearing me to drive without any issues. After that, I don't care where I live in the Midwest. I'll always come and see Dr. Donthamsetti to check my eyes out.

She gave me an appointment for a particular day but due to a scheduling conflict, I asked her if I could have another date. Boy...what did I do that for...talk about rude.

This is the first time I’ve been to an appointment and was seen on time. Normally you’ll have to wait up to 30 mins. This wasn’t the case. The ophthalmologist came and got me herself to ensure I got in and out. And her team worked around as well. I love the the service that was provide from the whole team!

I had an eye appointment last month. Getting the eye exam was fine, when I went downstairs to pick out frames and place my order was fine too. But they said due to my insurance I had to wait 4-6 weeks...crazy right! I called my insurance they said it shouldn't take that long. I called back to Midwest and spoke with Tina who by the has such a nasty attitude towards customers. I found out which lab they sent my glasses too and I called directly. They said they couldn't provide me with info but they would call Midwest for me. I went to Midwest today because again Tina was very rude to me over the phone and she was even ruder in person. I've had the worst experience with them. After I finally receive my glasses I won't be dealing with them again

Excellent service but the wait time is a little longer than I would like
My father had two cataract surgeries at this facility. The clinical care was good; they were kind. However, the front operations was inefficient. My father didn't receive a call the night prior to his last surgery to review pre-operation procedures. After surgery, I didn't receive a call with pickup instruction. My father called me from his cell phone. He's 75 years old and fortunately, I've been able to help him navigate his experience with this facility. If I had been unavailable, I fear that his appointments, both, might have been canceled due to lack of communication or lack of timely communication. I do appreciate that Sue, the charge nurse, took the time to hear me and I so appreciate her efforts.

I was checked in safely and seen in a timely manner. Page was in training and she did get job effectively. If she hadn't told me she was in training I wouldn't have known it. Dr. Cavender was thorough, knowledgeable, and answered my questions satisfactory. He also gave great advice about my diabetic condition that put me at ease with the numbers that were registering.

I was pleased overall with my eye exam. However, I was required to go one floor down to their optical department to obtain a copy of my prescription. Optical closes at 4:30pm and I left the front desk at 4:28pm. The person at the front desk said she would call down to optical to let her know I was coming. When I arrived, the door was locked, which I can understand. However the woman who worked there looked directly at me, mouthed something and turned her head. I continued knocking on the door. She walked towards me only to turn off the lights. I went back to front desk and the manager had to come down with me to get the woman in optical to print and give me a copy of my prescription. This was the epitome of a lack of customer service.

I don’t understand if they close at 4:30 and you call them at 3:30 to see if they got your glasses since it past 6 weeks but they don’t pick up and you been hold for more then 20 min have the education at least answer and say it’s friday and we don’t want to answer you????

I went to visit Midwest I center on a reserve from my doctor. When I made the appointment they emphasize being on time that's very important to them. After arriving there on time I understood they are Very busy. They were very professional they got me in-and-out in a timely manner something that I appreciate.

This was my first time in years to get tested for my eyes and I was a little nervous. However, the young African American assistant was very nice and took her time. I appreciate that. The doctor also was kind, patient and very knowledgeable and it helped that he was cute!! Lol

The staff is terrible. Been trying to get paperwork filled out by the doctor for a procedure I had here for 2 weeks. 1st they said it wasn't here, but had been here for 3 days, 2nd they charged me $20 to fill it out and it will take 10 days, how long does it take to fill out a diagnosis and fax it over, finally the staff seem to be not concerned with the severity of the situation. Some jobs need this done in a timing manner. It's been 2 weeks and I'm still waiting
I was on hold for 5 minutes first and then the lady picked up and said one minute. Then someone else immediately picked up and then hung up. So I called back, I have been on hold for 15 minutes (not including the first 5) and still waiting.
They don't get any stars from me!!!! It won't allow you to post without giving at least one star. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Very unprofessional from the first point of contact. When I called to make the appointment, the lady scheduling couldn't be bothered to inform me of my co-payment nor how much my insurance paid out for any of the services I needed done for my children. Secondly, my daughter paid upfront for trial contacts a month ago which were only supposed to take a week to come in. Not only have they NOT come in, there weren't even ordered yet and the staff thought it was funny. Lastly, I asked for a refund for the $60 paid for the trial contacts and was told they would mail me a check. WOW. Needless to say now my daughter is going away to college without her needed contacts that we tried to take care of well in advance. I will NEVER again visit another MIDWEST EYE CENTER!!!!!! Pissed Parent!

Took my children there today for 11 am appointment waited 45 minutes went to ask why they stated it’s a 2-3 hour wait. Had to cancel not sure who will wait 2-3 hours for a vision exam. Very unprofessional and should’ve been told when I checked in, wasted 45 minutes with children.

I have been a pt. of Dr Ahmad for 43 years. He is a fantastic person and Dr. He is kind, gentle, soft spoken and I believe, the best in his field. He is patient and answers all questions. His exams are the most thorough. He built his own office and surgical center. The employees I've dealt with have been kind,friendly and seem happy to work with this great man. I would recommend Dr. Ahmad and have recommended him to everyone everyone I know. Simply put: he's the best there is. Great Ophthalmologist!
This place is horrible my mom was suppose to have surgery months ago. I understand that Covid-19 happen, but here we are in October & they have cancelled her appt for the 7th time & told her just Oct 2nd 2020 she should find another doctor! Shame on you my mom is 73yrs old & has gotten so depressed dealing with her vision & waiting patiently to have her surgery only to be told go find another doctor! Baddddddd business i would not recommend this place to anyone!

Have changed insurance that requires referrals unaware of this .Long time customer.I was refused service. 71y/o high risk for glaucoma.!
The Eye center staff helped me to get my referral from my primary doctor and trate whit courtesy. She was very helpful. Thanks
