You will be able to see the reviews of real people who consume the products of Midwest Eye Care, P.C. (Ophthalmologist) in the territory of Dawson (Canada).
To this day the firm receives a score of 3.5 stars out of 5 and that rating was based on 40 reviews.
You must have seen that it has an average rating is very high, and it is founded on a large number of feddbacks, so we can say that the score is quite reliable. If people have bothered to evaluate when they are happy with the business, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to place evaluations when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Ophthalmologist is included in the category of Ophthalmologist.
Extremely hard to get a hold of, would not give me my contact prescription after I asked them to fax it to me three times, and extremely expensive.
I visited on 5/2. I had no trouble at all with any receptionists, in fact the one who checked me in was extraordinarily merciful and kind as I was silly enough to leave my wallet at home. She ensured I could still get in as I had someone go and retrieve my info from home. The lady (forgive me for not remembering her name and my informality) who evaluated my contacts was very nice! The receptionist at the contact lense desk was VERY cool and sweet. Also, the assistant to Dr. Mercer was so, so generous as I had to take an important, brief phone call (I won't again, I'm so sorry, but thank you SO much). My only complaint is minor in that Dr. Mercer was just in and out, probably because it was a very busy day and she probably had a high volume of patients; she did everything she was supposed to, but perhaps for lack of time, there was little time for warmth. So I'd say she was efficient, but didn't note a couple of things my previous eye doctor had noticed that I would have liked to confirm or get updates on. Overall, very positive. Thanks!
Got a flake of steel in my eye on Monday, Labor day at around 3pm. Called and the on call doctor got me right in, and took it right out with no problems. Best experience I ever had at a doctors office. Dr. Abigail Jackson was wonderful! Can't thank her enough!
Found exactly the right sun shield glasses I was looking for, for my mother. Thank you Christian.
I’ve had several eye surgeries which makes fitting contact lenses challenging. Today I saw April, who took the time to listen to my concerns, discuss my options. It was one of the most positive patient experiences I’ve ever had.
I'm reasonably happy with the doctors except that they seem to have an extraordinarily high case load. The support staff and customer care infrastructure are, however, below par. The triage nurses kept me from seeing a doctor for two months for what was ultimately diagnosed as iritis, a disease I continue to have after 9 months. The website has not been thoroughly tested with Chrome. Even with another browser, I am not able to e-mail my doctor's staff.
I can say enough wonderful things about the entire staff at Midwest Eye Care on California Street... when I showed up this morning in a lot of pain, everty single person was very helpful and kind and I was in with the doctor within 20minutes. Thank you to everyone!
The receptionist was extremely rude and short with me. She turned me away because i could not produce a physical insurance card even though I could provide the information. So my appointment was cancelled.
2-3 hour wait times for scheduled appointments is absolutely ridiculous and it’s like that almost every single visit !
I have a corneal erosion in my left eye that Dr. Hanks diagnosed. I am very sad that he has retired now. I was transferred to Dr. Feilmeier. He seems ok, but I just cannot seem to get in with him. Every time I call with this issue, I end up frustrated after speaking with a medical assistant. I keep being told that the optometrist is just a good as the doctor and the medical assistants trust them with their own health. Good for them, it is my eye heath, not theirs.. Not the case. I called and they got me in with a Dr. Dickinson. My appointment was at 9:20am. She finally decided to grace her appearance in the room at 11:35am. Explained that because I was being worked in, I had to wait until she saw all of her regular appointments for the day. Last time I will be going to this office for care. I will just have to find an MD who will take the time to care about my eye issue and not have to deal with incompetent medical staff who know nothing. The other bad thing is I ended up paying for a MD visit but only saw the OD that day and only for a few minutes as she was just too busy to be bothered with my "trivial" problem. What a waste of money as my eye seems to be getting worse by the day and I am afraid to call them back because I am just going to be shuffled around again and not get to the root of the problem.
Dr Jackson is the best. She has helped me with many eye problems!
They told me to take out my contacts and then had me fill out paperwork (including billing information) and had me walk from one room to another (which seemed like it was half way across the building) - I am seriously blind without my contacts. I would not visit this practice again.
Today my grandmother was seen at Midwest Eye Care at the 13500 California location. Everyone was so great to us from the front staff to the back staff. We were grateful and lucky to have Courtney H prior to seeing Dr. Mizener. She was absolutely kind and caring and explained step by step what she was doing. My grandmother was nervous about the appointment and Courtney handled the situation perfectly. She spoke slowly and clearly as she did each step prior to seeing the Dr. She calmed my grandmother down and reassured her Dr. Mizener was a great Dr. and she would be well taken care. Midwest Eye Care is lucky to have someone who clearly is where she is meant to be. We hope to get her again at the return appointment. Dr. Mizeners assistant Lauren was amazing too. So kind. We couldn’t of been more pleased with the staff we encountered today. Dr. Mizener explained everything to us and made sure we understood our options. I would recommend Midwest Eye Care to everyone if this is how all your staff is.
We've been coming to Midwest Eye care for years. Great staff and super knowledgeable! I have never left with my glasses feeling off or unhappy! We recommend everyone go there.
Do not come here if you need something done quickly. I went in a month ago and still do not have my prescription for contacts. I've been wearing the same prescription, with the same type of contacts, my entire life.
This place is just awesome. I see April in contact lens department and she is very brilliant in her work. She fitted my lens in such a way that I am forever thankful to her. She will not get satisfied until she gets best results for her work. She is a great professional. My vision has improved a lot with new lens.
It's all about the money... I have VSP through my employer and did not have cards yet in January... so my spouse who has separate coverage through UH, had gave the wrong insurance info. Since these initial apt, I had sent back atleast 3 statements with the corrected insurance information updated and had even been seen there afterwords several times since the initial apts for all 3 of my daughters. And they waited 7 months to tell me they don't have the insurance information updated (which they did for atleast one of my kids, thankfully) and that it's too late for them to bill VSP and that I need to pay out of pocket for all the appointments, as we were seen on several occasions there for each kiddo. I had them cancel all future appointments and I will wipe my hands of them... The customer service is beyond poor which is sad, because I thought the eye docs my girls seen were tremendous. We will find another doc/clinic. Why would a decent business wait 7 months.... when I've had several f/u apts and have brought corrected cards since then into the office, and have sent back multiple statements with the corrected info to tell me they won't bill my insurance for the initial eye exams? Unless you want to owe hundreds of dollars for basic eye exams and have them tell you too bad so sad... I'd recommend going literally anywhere else. As long as they get paid, they don't care if they screw over families with multiple children using their services.
Ridiculous! I waited for an hour and half needed contacts after my appointment and they didn’t even do a contact exam and the ladies just sat there and did nothing but say ‘ oh well we don’t have anything till November ‘ don’t even waste your time here!
I visited Dr. Whitted at Midwest Eye Care and was very happy with my overall experience. Dr. Whitted truly took his time with me and made sure I understood the outcome of his findings. Dr. Whitted genuinely cares for his patients and wants to see you have the best results possible and will do what it takes to make that happen. I highly recommend Dr. Whitted to anyone looking for any sort of eye care, especially if you are in the market for LASIK. Overall, great doctor and great experience with all the staff! Especially, Dr. Whitted assistance Katie, she is extremely knowledge and willing to help.
I have never been to a more disorganized medical practice. I told them the type of insurance I had and the employer it was through when I made the appointment. If they needed more information such as the primary's SSN, they certainly could have asked as I have been asked this before as a new patient. There was no established line when I entered the building unlike other places where there is one single line which makes it easy to tell who is next and who gets to go to the next open receptionist. Because there was no established waiting line I wait as an elderly gentleman who came in after me is helped before me. Not a big deal. Then other people started to wait off to the side from me so I avidly watch the receptionists to make sure I get the next open one. Someone opens up but she tells me it'll be a minute and types at her computer rather than having me sit across from her while she finishes up. Another receptionist opens so I walk up and she tries to tell me that the other people were there first. Luckily another receptionist vouches for me as I tell her that no, I was before them and actually I arrived before the gentleman she had just helped. Already flustered, I answer all the same questions I was asked when I made the appointment and more (like the primary's SSN and DOB). Nothing comes up under mine/ the primary's names for eye insurance even though I had the confirmation of my 2016 benefits. She called the eye insurance company and then tells me that they have no record of us either and I need to call my company's HR. And then she asked if I would like to reschedule. Nope, I really did not. I called another eye care practice to make an appointment and they said they would confirm my benefits before my arrival and there was no need for me to call HR; they would call if they ran into any problems. THIS is how customer service works. Midwest Eye Care made a terrible first impression.
Don’t relay pertinent information to patients when confirming appointments and then cancel at the last minute.
We stopped in to get eye glasses. We already had the prescription but needed to order frames and lenses. We were very pleased with the service we got from the minute we entered and told them why we were there. The salesperson helped us find the frames and lenses we were looking for. He helped us to find them in our price range. Some eye places act like used car salesman. All kinds of confusing prices and hidden charges. But not Midwest eye care. They are great.
Have been a patient for many years. They are very professional and explain what, and why you are receiving a specific treatment. They have done corrective eye surgery, and treating me for age related eye diseases. I won’t go anywhere else.
Woke up on a Friday not being able to see out of my left eye. Dr Jackson got me in immediately after I called (even though they were extremely busy) and found the issue right away with the correct tests. I was then able to see a specialist only an hour later who ran further diagnostics and diagnosed my isaue. They scheduled me Monday morning following up for treatment. I can't believe how quickly and thoroughly they helped me out, definitely recommend them.
I have been a patient there for 3 decades, typically pretty good service if everything is good with your eyes. But, recently had a retinal issue which required an injection. The insurance counselors were not helpful at all and one was actually very rude after they had coded my insurance paperwork incorrectly. It was two weeks befoe i received this information and she didn't share this information with me until after I spent almost two hrs on the phone with my insurance company. The insurance counselor then demanded $5000 from me the day my injection was scheduled!! It was a horrible experience and I will never go there again or ever recommed Midwest Eyecare to anyone!! Very poor customer service.
I believe we are lucky to have Dr. Whitted here in Omaha.
Outstanding service. From the desk to the Doctors and testing staff this place rocks! Have two Doctors and been coming here for over 10 years, exceeds expectations.
My boyfriend went there with a large blockage in his eye. He paid the co pay and for then to exam his eye . They did the exam but told him their Dr was not comfortable doing the surgery and they referred him to another location. That location stated they can't accept his insurance and referred him back to this office. Now all of a sudden they felt comfortable enough to do the surgery but wanted to charge him for another exam! They refused to waive the exam fee (he literally just had an exam done at this office so did not want to pay for another) so he ended up having to go elsewhere. Needless to say it was a lot of back and forth and time wasted. This place was definitely more worried about their money than their clients. Sad
Ive seen dr Maw for my diabetic retinopothy and retinitis. I have had uncontrolled diabetic for 16 years in my teens and twenties. I had such bad diabetic eye damage that my left eye blood vessel's burst and i went blind. I called at night and saw one of the on call drs in 20 minutes or less. Without dr Maw's expertise and skill i wouldve remained blind. Dr maw gave me a 50/50 chance that i would ever see again in my left eye. With dr Maw's help and my seeing a new diabetic dr i got my vision back 100%!!! Dr Maw is a excellent dr!! The only thing i'd say i dont care for is he tends to rush a bit when i need my eyes to be numbed before a injection. He's hand's down the best eye dr in the midwest! I highly recomend dr Maw for all people with diabetes.
I called for an appointment for my son on Monday for an acute vision change, and they made an appointment for me the following day. The front office staff was fantastic and very professional. The assistant who "brought us back was amazing. Very friendly, made my son feel right at home and relaxed. Dr Teri Geist was nothing short of amazing. She talked to my son in a way he could easily understand, made him comfortable (fun), but serious at the same time. She fully informed me of the treatment procedure and fully answered my questions in a way that was understandable. Taking my son to her and Midwest Eye care was the right choice. I will be using Midwest Eye Care and specifically Dr. Geist for my family.
Doctor appointment staff incompetent. Then become childish and dishonest when caught and confronted about their behavior.
Dr. Whitted has been fantastic working with our family for the last 9 years! In the last 2-3 years, I have developed a serious eye condition. He continues to be very proactive in my care. Although we have moved out of state, we continue to have him monitor my eye care/health.
Terrible Service AND Terrible Customer Service! Very poor communication throughout the whole process. Mediocre Services/ Information Provided. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Heck you would get better help asking about sunglasses at a gas station.
Too many appts so it takes forever to get in the exam room & then you sit there forever waiting on the doctor
SO much waiting and walking from one room to another, it all seems so dragged out. I just told the eye nurse (or whatever they are called) putting my daily contacts back in would hurt my eyes horribly and he said the doctor said it would be fine. Even though I expressed how bad it hurts my eyes to do so. I know they have a trial pair they could have loaned me, as this is where I got my contacts and trials previously. If my appointment is at 11, I expect to be seen by the DOCTOR shortly after yet it is 1145 and I am still waiting. After reading the reviews, seems like time management is not something this place does very well. Edit: the doctor was very nice. So was the previous doctor I had seen, just wish time was more thought of
I have never been to an eyecare center that was so wonderful to be at. Everyone was very polite and made sure they did everything necessary to get me the right prescription and glasses I hope it always stays this way it was wonderful
Disorganized. I think that separating the contacts and lenses into their own department is more hurtful than helpful. Scheduling nightmare, confusion EVERYWHERE. And to hear one of the front desk ladies sitting at the front desk and talking loudly about her personal sex life to a coworker... not what I want to hear while I'm in your waiting room... Leaves much to be desired. Also, I shouldn't need to sit in your contact department for 20 minutes while you place an order for trials, only to call me back up to the desk after 20 minutes and say "yep, those are ordered, we will call you when they come in"... not good.
