I have been coming to KC Eye Clinic for close to 20 years. I have seen Dr Bodker, and now Dr Nichols. I am extremely happy with the care I receive. Many years ago my dog scratched my eye while I was sleeping, they had me come in on a Saturday and Sunday with the office closed to treat my eye with antibiotics and a bandaid-contact that heals the tear which had to be changed daily for a week. This shows me they care about the patients. They probably could have shown me how to change the contact but they had me come in so it was done right. I recommended them to my mother in law and she is also happy here. I highly recommend them.

Dr. Ketcherside operated on my left eye this summer. He successfully transplanted a corneal graft using a new procedure, DMEK. Back in 2006, Dr. Hettinger operated on the same eye and successfully transplanted a corneal graft using DSEAK. Both physicians were, and are, excellent. If you are in need of superior medical treatment to preserve your eyesight, Kansas City Eye Clinic is where you must go! Also, I wish to give a shout out to Dr. Ohly. Recently, he has monitored my elevated eye pressure, a possible precursor to glaucoma. I am confident that Dr. Ohly will also continue to give me superb care.

I didn't have any questions at the end of the session because she was so detailed. She treated our son as if he was her own. High level of confidence in their eye exams with recent technologies. Not a fan of their optical shop. Insurance quotes for glasses are usually wrong, otherwise they are very expensive. Perhaps covid threw them a curve, but I can not give a glowing review. Surgery went well but aftercare was very poor. I was not told what to expect and when I voiced my concerns about eye pain, the nurse brushed me off. The optical shop is overwhelmed and slow. Team members don’t communicate with each other. I showed up for appointments that no one claimed to know about. The wait time for new lenses was 3 weeks, leaving me wandering around with poor vision all that time. I don’t recommend them

After having Cataract surgery before I moved to Kansas, I was told I needed to have laser surgery to help my eyesight more. After having to wear either glasses or contacts for 30 years, it’s nice to only have to wear one contact for distance. KC is the best, and I always recommend them to anyone who asks where to go for eye care.

I had an eye app at 3:00 PM at this eye clinic and I was called in to a room around 3:15, a young lady asked some questions and checked my glasses and told me that my doctor would be in shortly. I have waited until 3:50 PM and nobody showed up. So I walked to the desk asked about it. I was told that my doctor was in next room and I would be the next. What made me upset was that I could hear the conversation and they were simply chatting for the entire time while I was waiting in the next room. I finally decided to leave at 4:00 pm because I did not think the "nice" chatting next door would end anytime soon. I asked the young gentleman if he could let the management know about this and he said he would. No one bothered to call me back. So I called back the next day and talked to person in charge and he was aware of the situation and did not bothered to call, but at least he said he was responsible and apologized. But it was too late for me. I have decided to stop seeing them all together. I am willing to wait, but not for an hour or so to see the doctor. If you can not keep up with your appointments do not schedule. Simple as that.

Great service here. I had an issue with my eyes getting dry and itchy, and thought it was an allergy thing, but after a few days called the KCEC, and they were able to get me in that afternoon. They checked my eyes, let me know what the issue was (blepharitis) and set me on a course of treatment. Excellent follow up appointment a month later, and very Covid conscious.

I had the worst experience with Mallory. I contacted this office because I have been a patient of Dr. Ecks for 13 years and have taken my children to him as well. With my new employer and zero experience using a self-funded health plan, I asked Mallory if they would accept my employer’s coverage. She then asked me who it was through, I explained again that it is self funded through my employer. Instead of asking another associate, she just told me that she assumes they don’t because she didn’t know what I was talking about. Dr. Eck is an excellent doctor and I have never had to deal with members of his staff being completely dismissive and unhelpful before.

I asked if I could get scheduled sooner, she rolls her eyes but doesn't say anything. She eventually hands me a card saying, this is your new appointment. Its too far out. I hand it back to her and say no thanks. I'm a new patient who has never had vision problems. Everything is blurry, all the time. I can't really drive. Work is difficult. A guy walks in at the same time as me with no appointment, they get him in but can't get me in when I actually had an appointment. Being a new patient, I'll just go elsewhere.

What happened 20 years ago made me a firm believer Kansas City Eye Clinic offers the best eye care. Dr. Stephen Nichols diagnosed my dry eyes at the first visit after I went to a previous eye Dr. three times not able to prescribe the correct eye glasses for me to see. Ever since, my spouse, children and friends also receive care here. I am forever grateful for the feeling of relief after a long battle of frustration. My children do not have to go through the difficulties because both Dr. Nichols are highly medically trained and personal to take care of my family.

I have been visiting them (mainly Dawn Bircher) for several years, and would not think of going anywhere else (unless, of course, they all die or retire). Appointments are easily made and the doctors are on-time. Staff are friendly and helpful, and Dr. Bircher is thorough in her eye exams and always takes time to answer questions. I truly believe they are interested in me and my health. Additionally, the cost for using their services is less than what a couple of optometrists in Olathe charged for simple exams and refraction. If you're searching for professionals who can handle any eye problems you may encounter and make you feel like you're more than an object on an assembly line, you will be pleased with KC Eye Clinic.
