As you know, we do not usually bother to give reviews when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...

Dr Chang is amazing! She spent as much time with me as needed to help me understand my situation. She is very personable and caring about her patient’s welfare. I would highly recommend her.
I came here because I had a really serious eye concern. I went in with a lot of anxiety and left feeling much better. The woman who took us back and did my medical history (I think her name was Melanie) was unbelievably kind and caring and made me instantly feel at ease. I’ve had really bad experiences with eye care places and she was so incredibly nice and thorough and just acted with so much empathy and kindness. Dr. Erker was also extremely nice and made me feel better about the situation and answered all of my questions. It’s unfortunately really rare to find a place with such good service from medical professionals where it actually feels genuine and like they care about you. So grateful for Melanie and the doctors kindness and thoroughness!!
Dr. Edwards is an excellent optometrist. She is very thorough and friendly. Kristi, her assistant, knows exactly what to do and made me feel very confident in her abilities.
Dr Edwards and staff were very kind and patient as this was my first eye exam. They explained procedures and options. Highly recommend them!
I have seen Dr. K for nearly 20 years. Because of severe myopia, I have always seen an ophthalmologist rather than an optometrist. He recently did cataract surgery on both my eyes with excellent, almost life-changing outcomes! I was impressed with the surgical process, attention to detail and the care pre-during-post surgery. As part of the post-surgical care I have been seeing Dr. Stephanie Erker and have been equally impressed with her - she spends the time necessary to answer your questions and has a warm, cordial personality. I guess you could say I'm a happy camper.
Dr Edwards is the best!! Awesome Optometrist & outstanding communicator!
Dr. Kwapiszeski (Dr. K) is the most thorough, and detailed, ophthalmologist I’ve ever experienced, concerning my eye care. He takes the extra time to examine (and then re-examine) your concerns, to diagnose any issue methodically (and he’ll get it right)! He’s a serious guy, but he’s genuine, and will take the time to answer all your concerns (in great detail). There’s a reason why Dr.K is known as one of the top eyecare physicians in the field. If you’re looking for someone who’s got the answers, look no further than Dr.K. The only critiques, I can consider, is that his intellectualism can be intimidating (and over my head), and landing an appointment, can take several weeks (at no fault of his own). He’s very popular, and sought after (in the community), but, he’s well worth the wait! In my opinion (and I research, to find the best physicians) he’s the best ophthalmologist, in the KC Metro region.
Dr. Brenda Edwards is the best and she has a wonderful support team. My annual eye exam is always very thorough and never rushed. I highly recommend them.
I had a great experience. Dr. Erker was very personable and knowledgable. She was very thorough with her exam and did an excellent job of explaining her findings. Would highly recommend!
I cut my eye at 8:15 am and they had me in to Dr. Chang by 9:30. Whether it's a routine visit or an unexpected visit, I've received nothing less than stellar treatment by Heart of America Eye Care.
Dr. Chang and associates have always been professional and thorough with my eye care. I highly recommend Heart of America and particularly Dr Chang.
I definitely won't be going there again, I didn't care for there attitude,.
Dr. Edwards and the staff at Heart of America Eye Care are friendly and very knowledgeable! I would highly recommend them for your eye care!
I have been a patient of Dr K for nearly 20 years. He as well as his staff have always been great to deal with and keeping my eyesight in excellent shape.
Very clean and they take the proper COVID-19 precautions. Great staff, they make you feel welcome. The actual eye doc is fantastic as always.
I waited 45 minutes to be “fitted” for a contact. The women “fitting” me sat across from the table and offered no help. The women called Dr. Gemperlie to insert my contact and then test my vision with the contact stating that “people with amblyopia just rely on their good eye” as I am sitting there trying to treat my poor vision. Not one facility member treated me as an adult or spoke to me directly and instead spoke to my mother. At the end of my visit I was being charged $139 for the “fitting” when I wasn’t even leaving with a contact and after being told the charge would only be $60. Very disappointed.
They got me in for an appointment very quickly, and all the staff were very friendly. Best experience I’ve had with an eye doctor.
Dr Erker is amazing!
If I could give a lower score I would. Husband injured his eye and was told he could be seen at 1015 an hour later was still waiting. In pain just left him in room. He came out and asked why nobody has seen him. Nobody apologized or seemed to care. Will not come back. Just chit chatted at front desk ignoring customers. Manager was even at the front desk. After complaining she said "what wAs I supposed to do". Please don't go there. They don't care about patients.
Very thorough, comprehensive and professional service by Dr. Stephanie Erker.
It’s been wonderful! Everyone is extremely nice and caring, couldn’t ask for a better eye care for my son.
Dr. Carter and her staff were very pleasant and got me in quickly when I had a foreign body feeling in my eye. They had excellent communication and superior customer service. I highly recommend.
Dr. Kwapiszeski is top notch. Very friendly and knows his stuff. The optical shop is also very friendly.
My experience at Heart of America Eyecare was 5-star. My optometrist took the extra time to understand my vision issues and prescribe the best contacts for my situation. The staff is responsive, always nice and very helpful. I would highly recommend this location for your vision needs.
That so called Dr. Laura J Beamer is terrible every time I see her she prescribe more drops that are very expensive and I’m not getting better and when you try to question her terrible decisions she ignores you. This place sucks..... very rude doctors and staff they act like it’s a privilege to be treated by them. My dry eye is worse than ever. I will never go there again.????
Caroline Chang is excellent. Heart of America is an excellent group.
Dr. Cline is very professional and kind. Highly recommend her.
The 2 stars I am giving are for Dr Edwards only, I would give her 10 stars. Some of the staff at the Overland Park Office are not professional or caring for the patients. They are rude and treat us like the automated collection letters their office sends out. The staff are always in a rush and constantly interrupt. They don't communicate well either. The last visit I had I was made to feel inferior because I hadn't made a payment. :(
Dr. Stephanie Erker was very professional and thorough in her examination of my eyes. I felt that she definitely cared about my eye health and educated me on what I needed to understand about them. Thank you, Stephanie!
I was seeing Dr Amy Gemperli for glaucoma treatments only. On my last visit, an employee of Heart of America Eye Care gave me a Refraction test which I later found out isa test for prescription eye glasses or contact lenses. I have NEVER been seen at Heart of America Eye Care for prescription eye glasses or contact lenses. All of my appointments have been for glaucoma treatments. Heart of America Eye Care insists on billing me for their error by giving mean uneeded and unfrequented “Refraction” test for eye glasses or contact lenses.
Perhaps there are good doctors at this practice, but most of my appointment involved interactions with office managers and assistants. I would not recommend going to this practice based on their lack of transparency about the actual cost of the appointment. Prior to my appointment I had my insurance confirm with Heart of America that my annual vision exam would be covered under my plan, but when I went in for my appointment, the front desk staff still asked that I pay a copay, so I reminded them of the previous day's conversation with my insurance provider. A week later, I receive a large bill in the mail for some sort of laboratory service performed during my appointment. This came as a total shock, as at no point in my appointment was it made apparent that one of the tests they were running was a laboratory test. Additionally, the new prescription I received after this appointment gives me a terrible headache. Previously, I had almost always gone to an optometrist for my vision exam, but due to an underlying medical condition, I decided to see an opthamologist instead. After my experience at Heart of America, which wound up costing much more than anticipated and which failed to deliver even the minimum quality of care, I wish I had chosen to go to an optometrist instead.
Dr. Chang was knowledgeable, kind, professional, and helped me feel at ease about my chief complaint. Highly recommend her!
Wait was a little longer than expected but once I was called to the exam room, Pam's excellent bedside manner more than made up for my wait. She was engaging and made me feel important. We even discussed grocery shopping! And when Dr. Cline came in, I felt she was thorough and she had reviewed my patient history before my examination. I appreciate the experience I received at the office. — Earnest Rouse
