Just had my first experience at the Eye Care Center. I was very impressed. Had a through eye exam, was fitted for glasses, and was out the door in about an hour. The staff seems very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend Eye Care Center!
Eye Care center is a rare combination of hometown hospitality, combined with a real knowledge of what they're doing. The staff was very friendly and willing to answer any questions I had, and the doctor made it a point to speak in a language that I could understand. Reba is so unprofessional I been calling there about my appointment then she calls me back telling me I’m 3 days pass my 6 month period to get contacts with my insurance company like ok you knew that when u schedule my appointment that I would be pass my period so why she didn’t schedule it for a sooner appointment time or seen me somewhere else this is so unprofessional
I have been coming to this practice since I was in the third grade. I had an appointment with Dr. Michael Baughan on November 1. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. I had to bring my 9 month old to my appointment because the sitter cancelled last minute, I took off for the appointment and did not want to have to reschedule. My baby was not fussy and was super cooperative given the circumstances. I gave her the Kindle so she can watch her favorite shows in order to keep her occupied. Dr. Baughan rudely asked me to turn off the Kindle and said he would not walk into the room nor work on my eyes until I turned off the Kindle. When asked if he would be able to work/concentrate with a crying baby, he put my chart on the wall and walked away from the room. He refused to come into the room until the Kindle was silenced. I did not appreciate the tone in which he spoke to me in nor what he said to me in general. What I found to be the most rude is that he spoke to me like a was child and didn’t even have the courtesy to speak to me inside of the room, but instead spoke to me from the hall. I will definitely be looking for a different practice, one that is child friendly, values me as a patient, and appreciates my business.
Friendly staff also one of the staff members checking me out was very helpful and walked me through ordering my new contacts.

Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience. Its been almost a month my child has not received the correct pair of glasses. A couple weeks after his eye exam he was given a pair that seemed used. We were told that there was an issue with the company and they will let us know when the "new" glasses arrive. Its been a month now when i call to get an update they hang up the phone before i could finish my sentence. The second time they sent me to a survey. The third time i got a busy tone. My son is have issues with the substitute frames.At his physical appointment i found out that he couldn't see too well out of the glasses. I just want the glasses that i paid for without hostility.
First time going here. Everyone was pleasant and friendly. Dr. Baughn has great bedside manner. Definitely recommend.

I've been coming here for about 9 years now and I always get in and out in a reasonable time. The optometrist even let me exchange my unopened box of contacts for free because the others were giving me issues. Staff is always friendly.

This place is trash to me...so I had an eye appointment today (6/24/21) and I just wanted to make sure it was at 4:30pm I called them and they acted like I never had an appointment I told them I made one last month for today and then she said oh yeah I see your appointment but it was canceled. No one called me or nothing I asked why because no one called me to let me know I still thought I had an appointment and she just said no doctor is here after 12 today I couldn't believe my ears.

Even though your practice is over 50 minutes away from my home, I enjoy your staff and the Doc enough to visit every year. Also I love the eyemap machine. It is worth the $35 fee.
Dr. Mike is awesome and the staff are super courteous and friendly. Glad my wife discovered them. My favorite thing is that you make an appointment for a certain time and when you get there, they are ready for you. I appreciate that the Eye Care Center staff finds my time valuable. Sure beats the other places where you make an appointment just to sit for an hour before being seen.
If I could give them 0 stars I would. The blonde woman at the desk was one of the rudest people I've met in a long time. I understand COVID has made things complicated and difficult for some businesses but decent customer service is still possible. There was an issue on their end with my appointment apparently being cancelled and she acted like it was my fault. Absolutely horrible environment and even worse receptionist.
I was so pleasantly surprised by the warmth shown to me by the entire staff, with the exception of the receptionist. She may have just been having a bad day. Aside from that, the staff was helpful and friendly. I will definitely recommend them. They were actually recommended to me.

Highly recommend. Went for my appointment on 9/08 - the eye doctor is always so nice/friendly and listens to my concerns. When it was time to pick out a new pair of glasses - I asked the lady for her honest opinion as my husband usually tells me which ones look best but was unable to come. She helped me by picking out a pair that best matched my face and was extremely adorable. She truly went above and beyond. Will always come here for future eye appointments.

I was in the hospital and eyes started giving problems in April got appointment for June showed up and they had canceled it. Rescheduled it for July, 5 days before appointment they texted me their canceling this appointment. Now after I called them their saying November. I’ll behave it when I see it in November but I’m not holding my breath though

Worse experience I've had in quite some time . The doctor was nice. Every other thing about going there was extremely unprofessional to say the least. Thought it would be better than Walmart. But for it being my very first attempt to purchase eye wear I'll NEVER GO TO O EYECARE CENTER. And don't recommend any of my friends going.

UPDATE: *** I have been contacted by the manager. The person I dealt with this morning was new and gave me incorrect information. The 15% is my deductible with the Protection Plan, so I only pay $15% of the cost for a new frame and the lens will be at no charge. I appreciate the quick response and have therefore changed my rating from a 1 to a 4. I would have given a 5 rating, if it there had not been a problem in the first place.*** I would NOT recommend this place and I will be taking my business elsewhere. I purchased lens and frames on 9/21/18, and also purchased the Eyewear Protection Plan. The cost was $377. Also paid $99 for the eye exam, for a total cost of $476.00. Last night (on 9/11/19) the frame started coming apart...not broken, just separating where pieces were maybe soldered (or perhaps glued) together. I went into the Eyecare Center in Elizabeth City. They claimed the frames I have were discontinued, so therefore they could not replace them, even though I had purchased the protection plan. They also said they could not fix the frame. They only offered me a 15% discount if I wanted to purchase new frames (and of course I would have to purchase new lens to fit the new frame. To me this is totally unacceptable! What is the purpose of the protection plan, if they don't stand behind their products? It is not my fault that the frame was discontinued. They should have replaced mine with one of similar style for free. A mere 15% off of $377 glasses is only about a $56 discount, still leaving over $300 for me to pay. Why would I give this business over $300 again for poor quality frames that lasted less than a year?

My Provider was so kind as well as His Assistant. They both explained everything step by step. It makes you feel good when you just know.. when the person(s ) are genuine, provided the up most care safely and of course professionally. Thank You Again !!
Staff is not helpful whatsoever. I called the store twice on the way to pick up my glasses, because I knew I was barely going to make it before they closed. They close at 6. All I had to do was give them the cash in my hand, and walk out with my new glasses. When I informed them I'd be cutting it close, they said it was fine and they'd be there. Well I pull in the parking lot at 5:56, and go to open the door, AND ITS LOCKED. The two ladies at the desk just sat there and looked at me for 4 minutes before leaving. So I waited outside. They said "oh sorry, come back tomorrow" when I confronted them. I DROVE AN HOUR AND A HALF TO GET THERE. So then I had to drive another three hours tomorrow to get there, get my glasses, and get home. How convenient.
Professional staff, caring physician, courteous employees, and every staff member competent in what he is doing. They take time to fully answer questions. It was an excellent experience. These office is the model of exceptional customer service. Would highly recommend.

I been going to this eye care center for years now they always making sure my old eyes are taking care of and they are very friendly peoples.
Upon entering I was greeted kindly and was on my way to the back for my eye exam in just a few minutes of sitting down. The examining dr was very charismatic and easy to talk to. He took the time to explain everything as we went and genuinely cared about my eye health. After my exam I was directed to the assortment of frames covered by my insurance and was pleased to find a nice set of frames that looked good and fit well in no time flat and then the measurements and paperwork was done in a flash and I was on my way! All together it may have taken 45 minutes from eye exam to walking out the door with lenses and frames on the way!! I can't stress enough how pleasant the entire experience was and encourage anyone needing glasses and/or a eye exam to give these guys a call or conveniently make your appointment online like I did!

Before today, I would have rated The Eyecare Center with a 5! My husband and I have been going to this office since we moved to NC 12 years ago! We've had back to back appointments scheduled for Monday 10/12/20 for some time now! Today I received a text stating that due to Covid restrictions, I would have to reschedule my appt! I called them to do that and asked if my husband still had his appt and he did! The gentleman on the phone looked to see when they could get me in and it wasn't until MARCH 2021!! He then said he would contact the office to see if they could still get me in with my husband! That's when I realized that I had gotten a "call center" and could no longer talk to the office directly! The fact that I couldn't get an appt until March of next year and that I couldn't speak to anyone at their office are totally unacceptable! We will be taking our eyes and our business elsewhere! I was able to get back to back appts for 11/03/20 at another local eye care office!

I was 11 min late and was refused service and told an appt wasn't available until three months later. This is the first time I've been late. Life happens. I get that. I've waited to be seen from them thirty minutes late. I get it. It happens. This was the last straw for me. I like the doctor and the commute is close. But all the receptionists I've seen are unprofessional and seemed lost. If you need a pair of glasses go somewhere else. They have variety and are great making that sale but the problems come afterwards. If you need any adjustments made they are lost. I've had better service at JCPenney optical. The doctor is professional and knows his stuff but all other areas missed the mark.
