Everyone was so friendly and kind. The staff also made you feel comfortable with its Covid-19 protocols: they were very consistent with each patient who entered their lobby and cleaning examination rooms after each patient left. Sasha was thorough in his initial eye examine prep for the doctor, and puts you at ease right away. I've gotten exceptionally care and attention from Dr. Besser and from his staff. Most notably I've emailed and phone-spoken with Dr. B several times, one time emailing him a list of ten complex question about my upcoming surgery, and he was extremely generous with his time in addressing my concerns. He is very responsive to informed, well phrased question. He will certainly walk you through every step, but if you do a little homework beforehand and form some more detailed questions, you'll get above-and-beyond feedback...or at least I sure did. My upcoming cataract surgery has a lot of parameters because I'm considering various levels for vision correction which he is helping me to "test drive" before hand with contact lenses before committing to the surgical level of correction. I feel in very good hands. My last appointment there was an equipment problem beyond their control, and they had to send me home, but worked hard to accommodate a reschedule later the day after the problem was resolved. His scheduler, Sonia C is extremely available and helpful in answering all insurance questions and went beyond the call of duty in helping me to assess my coverage. ADDENDUM 6 weeks later after second eye was done: Same great thorough care. In fact my preparation for the second eye was complex on my part because I had serious concerns about how I would visually process monovision. Dr. Besser was very patient and forthcoming with expertise and guidance as I wore a wide array on contact lenses in the run-up to the second eye surgery so I could be absolutely sure of the level of correction,. I'm now four days out from that surgery and very happy with the results and the care so far.

I thought that Dr. Besser did not spend sufficient time explaining my test results. He did spend a total of 10 minutes with me and did explain my optic never problem. Although I was a new patient and Dr Besser was pretty booked they made time to see me the next day. Sadly, many times today doctors talk at you and don’t give you the courtesy to listen and also explain medical situations in a way you can understand. It was the best expirence! Dr. Besser prevented my eyes from glaucoma damaging my eyes further. I had two eye surgeries. I did my part as patient and he did his best. I can’t speak highly enough about Dr Besser and his team. They are incredibly professional and super friendly. I saw a couple of surgeons before choosing Dr Besser. He is a highly regarded surgeon who teaches at the Jules Stein Eye Institute - UCLA. The pro bono work he does in the community also made an impression on me - it speaks to his kindness. Prior to my surgery Dr Besser spent time explaining the entire procedure to make sure I understood every stage. The surgeries went well and he saw me for multiple follow-ups. Recently, I had an issue while traveling and Dr Besser responded immediately, then saw me as soon as I returned - staying late on a holiday weekend. It’s clear he really cares about his patients. I feel really lucky to have found him. Also of note is the staff, great technicians, and very helpful surgical coordinator. Sonia was very responsive and really knows her stuff. Got the notification of my appointment a few days before. Aside from confirming, I filled out all the paperwork online, allowing me to walk in, wait 3 minutes, and get my testing done right away by the courteous and professional technician. 15 minutes later Dr. Besser did his thing, went over the results and I was outta there! Aside from a squeeze getting into the underground parking, the attendant was awesome, reminded me the floor Dr. Besser was on, and guided me to and from my spot. $12.00 for the visit, worth it as parking on the street was next to impossible. 5 ????!!

On a recent trip from Michigan to visit my son and grandchildren in LA I had an appointment with Dr. Besser for possible cataract surgery. Little did I know that this would change my life! After a very brief wait I was warmly greeted and escorted to an exam room where I met Dr Besser. This proved to be one of the best experiences of my life! This kind, genuinely caring man performed all the tests then made his recommendations while thoroughly explaining everything. He made sure I had all my questions answered and gave me his undivided attention. Within a week, he performed successful surgery on one eye and subsequently on my other. No pain. No discomfort. No eyepatch. The results were immediate! I appreciate his knowledge and highly recommend him. He and his staff are so positive and welcoming I'm sure that you'll have a great experience as I did! Ignore the one star rant. I’ve been a patient for several years, never treated with anything other than respect. Dr. Besser is knowledgeable and personable and his staff is great. It’s a medical facility so sometimes there might be an emergency but I’ve never waited an unreasonable length of time. Staff needs to ask you why you are there, for insurance coverage the insurance companies want to know what you say your problem is.
