I stopped going because the eye doctor I saw chose to interpret my astigmatism as a potential future risk for glaucoma. Funny no other eye doctor has ever told me this before. (Because I was diagnosed and my visit was deemed "medical" my insurance wouldn't cover the cost of the exam. I'm not sure if this is something doctors do as a way of generating more money, but it's frustrating regardless.)

First time here and Over 3 hours to be seen?? Really!? This is disrespectful to say the least. Waiting room overcrowded, short staffed. (Nice staff) but why overbook?! That is an insult to other people's time.

Been waiting for over an hour to get seen then sitting in the room for over 1/2 hour just for the dr to see my girlfriend. There people really just don't get people don't have all day for something that shouldn't take but an hour. Will not return .

I am very please with Dr. Bill Avonda and Columbia Eye Associates. The staff is warm and welcoming and Bill is a great one on one physician. He makes you feel at ease and answers all of your questions clearly. I would definitely recommend him to any of my family and friends. :)

Columbia eye associates were very rude to demand that I "put a medical mask on before they would see me" I have medical recommendations that I not obstruct my breathing with anything. They were very rude and I came right home and made contact with my Lawyers. Columbia eye associates you will be hearing from me soon! You only get one star out of five because you guys are pathetic!

My wife Kelly and I, would highly recommend Dr. Avonda for any eye care needs, annual exams or emergency situations. I have a unique situation with a detached retina and Dr. Avonda has been great in several emergency situations with working me in right away. He provides kind professional service and gets you in and out quickly. We both have been pleased with his contact recommendations and wouldn't think of going anywhere else!

I have been a patient at Columbia Eye Associates for over two years. During that time I have had an unusual, painful and chronic eye condition that required intensive and coordinated care between Columbia Eye Associates, my primary care doctor and my neurologist. Columbia Eye stepped up to the plate and saw me on a daily basis and guided me through that difficult time to help me know when my condition was no longer an “eye problem” but something more serious. However, the doctors at CEA never just “passed me off” to another doctor. Dr. Avonda and Dr. Bodendorfer continued to see me until my eye condition was completely resolved, which was several weeks, in addition to coordinating my care with other heath care professionals. I am very grateful that I have such mindful and dedicated eye care professionals as my doctors, especially since I am a glaucoma suspect patient. I wouldn’t trust my eyes to anyone else.

Charges you extra for things that other places don’t. The wait time is absolutely ridiculous. My whole visit took three hours. I don’t understand their process, had my eyes tested by the assistant, then was taken to a room where the doctor did the same thing, then had my eyes dilated and was put back in the waiting room. The whole process was a mess. Do not come here!!

My Husband and I, are VERY pleased and satisfied with both the Staff at Columbia Eye, including Dr. Avonda. In addition the staff who completed our prescription glasses, our order was prompt and perfect! The biggest thing that we both appreciated, was the experience, professionalism and the friendliness that was showed in all the Staff! We WILL be returning there again when our next exam comes around! ;)

I took my glasses in to get new nose pads and in a couple of days one of the pads came off. I took them back and after 30 minutes I was told that the screw was stripped, used super glue and they would not replace my frames. They have employed new people and one of them broke my glasses. I don't recommend using the store for glasses.

The waiting time is ridiculously long and uncomfortable. There is definitely not enough staff as well as they tend to take long time. The glasses also take a long time to be adjusted and ready for pick up. Overall they provide acceptable service, but need to adjust their staff and time.

I take my husband and neighbor here. Before my mother in law passed, I use to bring her too. Good people, excellent service, but due to over booking patients, you can be there a while. My neighbor's most recent appointment was at 2:30pm for a regular appointment and she didn't get out til 4:40pm. My husband's appointments are always a couple of hours. My mother in law's 1st appointment took 4.5hrs and not as a new patient. So when you go, expect to stay a while and bring something warm to wear. If it wasn't for a time issue, I would give them a 5☆.

Last year, I had an eye check up, to find out after the lenses were cut, it was the wrong prescription. So, i was seen by another Dr. there, and guess what, there were two different prescriptions, both wrong, so i had them cut new lenses wit my old prescription. After co-pays it was still over $300. Now i am stuck, can't see , and have to wait till insurance kicks back in. And I have great insurance, but still. I never had a long wait time, because I wont sit there, i keep asking till they take me back. Your a fool to sit there for long periods.

The doctor was really nice and helpful. Some of the office staff was wonderful. But when calling to get a refund on my eye glasses they had no idea what I was talking about. It was as if no one knew what each other was doing. Still haven't gotten my refund. And it seemed when I called back no one knew what I had meant.

Unprofessional beyond means you don't tell someone you are going to do something by a time limit and never do it then when I followed up gave me another day that they would be in contact with me and still never heard from them. DO NOT make a promise you can't keep have a little respect and do what you said you would.

Terrible place , total scam ,try to set appointment, gal in office very rude , two months for an appointment after being refered. Friend had appointment with them , they called every few months to get her back in again , they don't care about their patients , only the money they want from you . No wonder the review rating is so low

Someone from the optical department called me and accused my husband of picking up his glasses and walking out with out paying my husband was working in another state so he hadn’t picked up any glasses but they threatened him if you don’t pay today we are calling the police I called my husband and told him what they said and he called them back and oops we made a mistake they are still here. WARNING THESE FOLKS ARE CROOKS! They lied and told me I had a copay - it was new insurance and there was not a co-pay - they gave me prefab contacts that were no help and asked me to sign saying I had them for $60! Three days later I had an eye infection that they would not see me about on a walk in, told me they could schedule in two months! BEWARE OF THESE CLOWNS! Really ZERO STARS but you have to give them one star to post! Live Oak and Lake City are both terrible!

Only giving this place a 2 because the staff are amazing, if it wasn't for the staff I would give it a big fat 0 (if you could review as a 0), however they do not have any concept of time and how to manage time. Take your appointment time and add 2-3 hours that you will be waiting around the office to be seen. Never in my life have I waiting that long to complete a doctors appointment.

I've only seen one doctor there, Dr. Avonda, and I was very happy with the service he and his staff provided. He was extremely professional in both his explanation of my condition and the treatment provided. I plan on continuing to use Columbia Eye Associates as long as he is there. Plus, the building itself is very clean and well maintained, something very important to me.

The doctors and staff are wonderful but pack some snacks and extra drinks because your wait time could be up to 2-3 hours! My 85 year old mom had an appointment at 1:40 pm, we arrived at 1:30 and didn't see the doctor until 3:30, then still had another 15-20 minutes of paperwork to fill out for the upcoming cataract surgery. We finally left the place at 3:57 pm and this isn't the first time that our appointments have taken two or more hours to complete, either. Both locations, Live Oak and Lake City, often have long wait times! Wish they could find a way to speed up the process, as I do like the doctors and staff.
