Irreverent Team of Reina Specilist. Be careful whom you sign up for as your retina specialist. Dr. Whitted is okay but he does not take his patient's conditions seriously. I asked to transfer to Dr. Frank or Dr. Wong and they both refused to assist patients who have been seen by other doctors. Eye Consultants of Atlanta doctors will refer you to Emory Eye Clinic. According to Sherri Davis " The doctor just want you to go to Emory because they might know more than the doctors here." Clearly, not all doctors are of the same quality, but at least they know it!

Tests were ordered to find the cause of the problem and they even made arrangements for them to be done near me, saving me another trip to Atlanta. I highly recommend this group to anyone for all your vision needs! I can’t imagine how anyone could have treated me better!

4 Plus Hours for a simple Glaucoma Screening. Very Disappointing, went there based on a co-worker recommendation. As a first time patient, the earliest appointment I could get was in 2 months that should have told me to go else where. I had a 1pm appointment for a simple Glaucoma Screening. I got there 20min early and filled out the paper work. I saw other post on how SLOW they are and it is TRUE. 45 min to place in a room, 30 min before the Tech came in to do the basic Eye chart, performed an Auto-refactor test - Not required or Covered by Insurance. Next Dilated my eyes and had to sit in a bright window waiting area for another 1 hour. moved me to another room for 30 min before the doctor finally came in. After meeting the Doctor, that had me wait another 30 min before walking me to the Check out desk to pay for the visit. I asked about scheduling my next visit and the person at the desk just brushed it off and told me call want I was ready. I received a $450 bill which included a Eye Glass Prescription that they never wrote me. Be sure to read the sign at the front desk about procedure that is not covered by insurance but they will be happy to preform without informing you that they are doing it. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM.

My experience has been ideal. For my first appointment I called in to be seen for an urgent issue. I was scheduled the same day to see Dr. Patorgis. The staff was courteous and quite professional. The check in procedure is done via an electronic system. The office is calm, very clean, and I have been seen on a timely basis according to my appointment each time I go. I’ve found Dr. Patorgis to be extremely knowledgeable and professional with a very compassionate style of patient interaction.

My 1st time experience was pleasant. I went for a check up. After calling to set up my appointment, I was sent a link to fill out needed information, accelerating my time to be seen in person on the day of my appointment. They are implementing safety features- wearing masks, checking your temperature before entering the building, checking you in downstairs, maintaining six feet separation of the furniture and cleaning their equipment consistently. The check in staff on the first level of the building was okay, but the reception staff and the staff who assisted me were phenomenal- Marianne and Dr. Levine specifically. My wait time to be seen was less than 10mins. Any procedure or step taken was thoroughly explained in a helpful and patient manner. Overall, great experience. Thank you!

I would not recommend. I showed up after driving 2 hours for my appointment, and they told me I had not made an appointment and that I talked to the wrong person they guess. They also said the doctor wouldn't see me because he needed my records, but they never asked for them or to have me send them. When I called I gave them my insurance information and told them I drive 2 hours to get to the office, so I asked if they needed anything else before coming snd they said no and that I was good. I've never dealt with a situation from any doctor like this in my life, so if you are coming make sure to call snd verify your appointment or ask for it in writing.

The office staff at this location is unprofessional and rude. My physician is Dr. Levine and he always meets my expectations but the office manager for this site really needs to spend time training the front desk on customer service. If you can bare the cackling and the inappropriate dress give this location a try.

Absolute worst patient care of any medical facility. Be prepared for a 2 to 3 hr. wait just to see the doctor. First visit I was there for 3 hours. On the follow-up visit after a 2 hr. wait I said I had to leave. They said if I stayed 20 more minutes they could "get me in the room to see the doctor". They told me then that it is typically a 2- 3 hr. wait from check-in to seeing the doctor. Asked if I wanted to reschedule. Are you joking? Who can take 3-4 hours (including drive time) out of their day?

My husband sees Dr. Lee who is quite competent with a good bedside manner. The back office staff are rude, abrasive and unprofessional. As a doctor myself, the first thing I was taught is to introduce yourself to the patient. Chrissy (because I read her name badge) does not even attempt to do this which is basic clinical etiquitte. She is rude and needs to work away from patients. Patients and their loved ones should be treated with respect and care all of the time....this is not an option. Dr. D

BILLS BILLS BILLS I visited Patorgis OD, Charles for a general eye check up early 11/2019. Even after making an appointment, I didn't get attended to until after two and a half hours. I had taken an hour off work. Before going in, I double checked with the check in attendant if they are covered by my insurance policy and she said yes but I would have to pay $44 for the eye check up. 8/2020 I started receiving bill's after bill's. Insurance company paid $99 and I was liable to pay $167. A general eye check only to be told you have dry eyes after 2 1/2 hour wait is $310!!! I lost my job early this year, called to explain my situation but final notices/bill's are still coming in. Be careful with this eye consultants, most companies offer employees free one year teeth clean up, medical check up and eye check up this people don't honor that.

After cataract operations is both eyes, I can't say enough about Eye Consultants of Atlanta. Dr. Loft is the ultimate medical professional ~ personable, takes time with you and explains the procedure with clarity. The end result of the operation is "a whole new world" for this 80 year old. Mention must also be made of Hollie Smith who organizes the pre and post operation procedures which can be demanding on the patient. Eye drops, what to take and what not to take, timing of the operation, when to report are all worked out for the patient under her care. This can be a confusing procedure for the patient, but it is made as organized and thus easy as possible through their provided superb system. Questions are answered easily. Ophthalmology Technicians are also superbly trained. In short, Eye Consultants of Atlanta is a well-oiled machine.

Dr Halpern staff are very rude and unprofessional, I took my wife for a refraction, and the lady who does the refraction messed up with the measurements, when she wrote down the prescription, she put the measurements from the left to the right and the one on the right put it on the left, so when the glasses arrived my wife couldn't use the glasses at all. So, I went back trying to have the prescription square away and the receptionist was careless of my claim and gave me an appt within 3 weeks, not only they screwed my wife's prescription they aren't willing to help you at all. So they don't take ownership of their own mistakes......PLEASE BEWARE.

Thos office messed up my husbands eye. He lost it in a accident and the doctor who done his surgery in this office did it wrong and kept telling him it was fine and healing great when his orbit is actually coming out of his eye socket. They did a second surgery and it still looked the same when the surgery was over and he still said he fixed it and everything looked wonderful. The prostices wouldnt touch him for a new eye and refered us to another doctor. The new dr. Is so upset about the work done on my husbands eye and said that he was the 4th person to come from eye consultants of atlanta and all 4 patents have had the same dr dr.ghaiy please don't let him work on you please go some where else

Came to this office for cornea surgery. Initially, I was very impressed with Dr Loft and appreciated his good bedside manner. From there, things slowly went down hill. While I was waiting to have my surgery, I overhead several surgical staff complaining about how the surgical center was being run - running out of necessary supplies, doctors not thoroughly reviewing patient information pre-op, etc. This struck me as highly unprofessional, but I proceeded with the surgery anyway. Post-op my recovery took MUCH longer than it should have. Pre-op, Dr Loft told me I would be able to resume normal activities in 3-5 days. In reality, it would take more than 2 months for me to get back to that level of functionality. Staff were very dismissive of my symptoms and, at times, seemed annoyed when I would call in because I was concerned about my slow recovery. Eventually, I switched to another practice to complete my post-op care, and I AM SO GLAD I DID!!! The doctor I have now was able to correctly diagnose why my eye was not healing, and in the span of 2 weeks accomplished what Dr Loft and his team could not do in 2 MONTHS. Bottom Line: I would not recommend this practice. Although I think Dr Loft is a very nice and pleasant person, he was not knowledgeable when it came to managing my post-op symptoms/recovery. As for the staff, some of them are nice, but overall professionalism is lacking. Edit: Since writing this initial review, it has become clear that this surgery has left me with permanent hazing/clouding of my cornea. In practical terms, this means I do not see clearly out of my right eye (my vision is actually *worse* than before the surgery). Although I understand that all surgery comes with risk (with hazing being a known risk of this surgery) and no surgeon is perfect 100% of the time, this feels like further evidence to me that my care with Eye Consultants of Atlanta and Dr Loft was not managed well.

One of the things that I really like about going to Eye Consultants of Atlanta is that you know from when you first walk up to the building that everyone who has an office in that building is concerned with their patients and their health. These have not been the best of times health wise and knowing everyone was wearing a mask and that their temperature had been taken helped relieve some stress. Everyone in the Eye Consultants office is friendly and efficient. The office has a quiet relaxing atmosphere which helps to lessen my “white coat syndrome”. Dr. Roach is friendly without being intrusive or someone who overshares. He explains test results and how issues will be addressed in language that’s understandable. His technician Kim is extremely helpful and she’s detail oriented. If test results seem off she wants to know why and like Dr. Roach she explains everything before she does it. Every appoint that I’ve had at Eye Consultants of Atlanta gets a grade of A+.

I requested a routine annual eye exam that is covered by my insurance. when i got the bill, my insurance said it wasn't covered because Dr. Levine had diagnosed me with "dry eyes", even though he did not prescribe anything or give me any official diagnosis paper. When I called Tina to have it changed, she didn't respond to any of my messages. When I finally got her on the phone, she did not do anything to help me whatsoever and simply implied it was my problem. When I asked her why she didn't check to make sure the visit was covered by my insurance, she said that wasn't her job. Even if this is true, I think it is extremely deceptive to patients.

I’ve been to this office multiple times over the years for a few different issues. While wait times are high, the doctors always responded with the appropriate type of urgency - even calling me from their personal phone or meeting me in the office on the weekend during an emergent issue. Honestly, I was impressed that they would go above and beyond there. If you owe the office money after a procedure, they’re really quite flexible and will even hold off sending to collections if you can make at least a $5 payment each month. I was extremely impressed with this. That being said, if you have a balance on the account, and have a major life event (such as surgery and are afterwards unable to work or pay even the basic bills) and can’t make payments, they’ll send it to collections after 3 months of nonpayment. Not exactly the best policy, but not something that is unheard of. What earns them the single star is how they treat you after that. Susan, the person you speak to about billing for the location, will from there treat you like a reprehensible human being - because in her eyes $5 a month is the most reasonable thing she’s heard of and she clearly feels there is absolutely no reason that couldn’t be achieved. It doesn’t matter how extenuating the circumstances are. You will get zero empathy from her, and will be completely barred from seeing any doctor until the balance is paid, even if the situation is urgent. If you try to provide feedback, she will talk over you and reiterate how reasonable the $5 a month option is. If you swear even once out of frustration, she will spend the rest of the time talking over you. She cares not about the circumstances, only that the balance is paid. And if she deems that you are the kind of person who misses payments because they don’t want to pay? Don’t expect any kind of civility. I understand that they have to be cut and dry as a business, and all debts should be paid. But to have such a contemptuous response to a patient who had fallen on hard times? I’ll take my business elsewhere.

A year ago, my 6 month old gave me a corneal abrasion. That kicked off a year of severe recurrent corneal erosions for me. Anyone who has had them (and any eye doctors office should know) how painful and even traumatic these occurrences are. After a particularly severe experience in August on a beach trip that left me debilitated and laying in bed inside for the entire trip with a contact lens bandage on my eyeball, the doctor I saw there recommended that I get a specialist opinion on surgical options once I got back to Atlanta. I came to Eye Consultants of Atlanta in October. I gladly paid $250 for a 10 minute consultation with one of their doctors. He recommended that I have surgery, but said that he didn’t want to do it while I wasn’t having an active erosion. We got a treatment plan in place- as soon as I had another corneal erosion, we would take the opportunity to perform an “immediate” 5 minute surgery to essentially resurface my eye and hopefully take care of the problem. He gave me a card with the number straight to his team and told me, exact words, “even if you have to call after hours, we will take care of this same day, while you’re already in pain.” I left feeling so much relief that I wouldn’t have to keep dealing with this condition without hopefully getting permanent relief next time it happened. Unfortunately starting yesterday, I experienced another severe and painful erosion. I called the office immediately this morning at 8am, recapped my history, explained that I was experiencing a painful erosion, and was told they’d get back to me. I called back two hours later to check on the status and they had no update. They called me back 10 minutes after that to tell me that the doctor’s clinic hours were ending soon for the weekend and they’d see me in a WEEK. No further instruction. No steroid drops to help heal, no antibiotic drops to prevent infection, no pain management. Just- enjoy your corneal erosion and we’ll talk about it in a week. The completely opposite of the treatment plan I had in place. I get that on Friday I’m sure everyone is ready to get out of there for the weekend, but to offer your own patient, in pain with an open wound on their eyeball nothing but an appointment a week from now is just callous. I burst into tears on the phone in shock and told them don’t bother. I am going to find a more compassionate and honest practice to take care of me. I am so disappointed.

I described the issue over the phone to one of the nurses and she was able to get me in the very next day! ( most places couldn't see me until August) I was given an appointment with Dr. Frank who I had never met before.Not only was Dr. Frank incredibly knowledgeable, he also had a great bedside manner - easy to talk to and seemed like he cared. Went in for a consultation based on a referral from my primary care physician. Waited for about 45 min until a nurse took me in and gave me a couple of eye drops before seeing the doctor. I was asked to wait for a bit until the eye drops take effect and the doctor can see me. Another hour and 15 min later, I was told the doctor was ready to see me and was taken to an examination room. I sat in the room for another 20 min waiting. Finally I walked out and asked the nurse what was going on. Her response was "well I don't know what to tell you, we have other patients". At that point, I cut my losses and left without seeing the doctor. Added note is the waiting room was FULL of people. With their COVID protocol, there were more people in the waiting room than a bar is allowed to have. And still, they make you wait 2+ hours in a room full of people because, well, they have other patients.

WOW is how I would start. It’s weird nowadays to walk into a practice where all the staff is friendly and smiling. All of them where super helpful and Dr. Lee was the first eye doctor to take the time and explain my vision problems. Not only that but he explained the options and what would be the best route for my issue (other eye doctors have always wanted to do the easy bandaid fix). I loved how thorough Stephanie was when doing all the check ups and readings before Dr. Lee came into the room. She also took the time to answer my questions and explain the process. I thought the Covid 19 precautions were a little lax. Checks were supposed to occur at the door of the surgery center but people often walked in for a few minutes before being noticed and asked to step back. When I had previously visited the Cumberland office there was no screening at all. This was vastly different from the methods used by my dermatologist and dentist. I was asked to arrive at 8:30 and the procedure took place at 10:15. The procedure itself was painless, fast and totally successful. So it’s something of a trade off.

The doctors are excellent, just excellent, but some of the staff is horrendous and rude. The Cumberland office has a woman named Tyra who works the front desk, and she is ignorant and rude. When she asked if my insurance had changed, I said yes, I now was on COBRA. She said they don't accept COBRA. She has no idea that COBRA is a law and has nothing to do with insurance. Yesterday I was scheduled for an appointment with Dr. Roach for an eye exam, and there was going to be a wait between one and two hours. I have had to wait two hours in the past to see the doctor. I found my insurance coverage with VSP and told her that is the coverage I had, and she said, "We don't accept VSP." So then I looked online for a nearby office that accepts VSP and went back to the front desk where a supervisor now was. I told them it says right here that Eye Consultants of Atlanta on Cumberland Blvd. accepts VSP. The supervisor said another doctor there, Dr. Patorgis, accepts it. I pointed to Tyra and said she just told me you don't accept it. Tyra then shouts, "Don't point at me!" Why this office allows these rude people to work there, I have no idea. Dr. Ghaiy has operated on my eye, and he is wonderful. Drs. Patorgis and Roach are so nice and caring. It is just the staff, time and time again, that I have trouble with. The staff on Patorgis's side of the office were wonderful as were the opticians. Yesterday Asher, that's the man's first name, fixed the arm that had broken off a pair of my glasses, and today after I got a new prescription from Patorgis, Gaye Bryant spent loads of time helping me find glasses that suit my style and budget. The doctors and opticians are wonderful. I have experienced rude staff at this office a few times. I have no idea why Eye Consultants doesn't fire the rude employees.

I had an eye issue earlier in the week and went to an Urgent care, I was advised to see an eye Dr if my symptoms didn’t clear or worsened in the following 48 hrs. So in two days I called Eye Consultants of ATL as a same day (emergency) case. The triage nurse was an angel on the phone and very helpful in working me in even at the best time of day for my schedule. The check in process was speedy and efficient. The tech was very friendly and is great at her job. The Dr was excellent. I appreciate everyone’s help and HIGHLY RECOMMEND them.

We find the staff to be courteous, friendly and efficient. Yes, we sometimes have to wait past our appointment time, but a small inconvenience in exchange for excellent care.
