Went and when could afford my glasses lens or see straight dr Kenny helped me out with choices and he was very friendly always greeted with happy staff too love them all.
I was away on vacation when I noticed that my pupils were significantly different in size which caused some alarm as I never noticed that happening before. I called Valley Family Optometry and they were able to fit me in as soon as I returned. The staff was very kind and comforting and I was able to be reassured what was going on and more importantly they explained very clearly what it was I was experiencing. Dr. Kinney was able to immediately rule out any significant causes and then referred me to a specialist where it was determined that it was Adie Syndrome and indeed nothing to worry about. I appreciate how thorough they were at Valley Family Optometry and I continue to take my entire family there. Dr. Flynn is fantastic as well and both my kids absolutely enjoy seeing her.
Excellent family friendly place. Took the family in for an eye exam including our 3 year old and they could not have been more accommodating and friendly which for anybody with kids should be a huge relief. Great selection of frames as well and a pretty quick turnaround on getting a new prescription into glasses.
Waited over an hour after my appointment was scheduled before I saw the optometrist. The doctor didn't even apologize for the wait. Extremely unprofessional and will not be returning .
My son had an appointment with the new Dr. (Dr.waines?) His vision was quite bad, we ordered the glasses from the office as my son is needing to be followed very closely for the first year, I thought this would be the easier option. I call to check if his glasses had arrived, the admin staff said Thursday or Friday. I called Thursday, they had arrived. I called Friday to say I would be in to pick them up around 2:30. The admin staff said that was not possible, I needed an appointment, and they were fully booked. I explained this was my son's first time with glasses wanted him to have the weekend with them. I was put threw to the office manager, where we decided I could pick up at 5. Upon our arrival the Dr. Met us at the door, gave us the glasses and told us not to come back. He said because of the pressure I put on his staff, I hurt their feelings. I asked if he was denying my child care and his answer was "YES". We have been patients of this office for 6 years. We will never be back
This evening was the first time for me accepting I needed a bit of help with my vision, dealing with an optometrist and getting glasses. The doctor I saw was Dr. Waines and he was awesome! Super friendly, helpful, understanding and took in every bit I had to say about the problems I was having. My eyes didn’t have huge huge problems, but he explained to me very well what I had going on with my eyes, why I was struggling with what I have been struggling with and gave me a prescription. He then had one of the other staff assist me in picking out my first frames. I can’t remember the young mans name, I wish I could because he was just so wonderful! So sweet and helpful and very understanding. He recognized the struggle and nerves of picking out first frames and one of the things I respect him most for is him telling me ‘I promise I’ll be honest in how each pair looks on you’ and he did! He wasn’t in a huge rush to get back to whatever it was he was doing prior and he ended up helping me and my indecisiveness pick a pair that was suiting, and stylish for me. Big thanks to this office for what I’m hoping is gonna be a huge help in my day to day life!
The mask police stating my mask is not sufficient, it is
Had an appointment with Dr. Kinney. It went super well! He is knowledgeable and explained every steps. Thank you!
Recently I had a troubling experience with my left eye. I quickly decided that I could not risk waiting, so I went directly to Valley Family Optometry. Dr Kinney has been my optometrist for years now, but he was not on duty this day. So there really wasn’t anyone there I was familiar with. However, I could not have asked for better treatment. Upon arrival, I was triaged straight away by Jolene, I believe…. (Thank you, girl). She assured me I had done the right thing by coming in so quickly, and I definitely had to be seen. I was promptly escorted to another room where I was given drops and had some preliminary scans done, by an attentive, professional technician, (who’s name I did not get… my apologies) before being seen by Dr. Waines. I was initially somewhat emotional and nervous, not knowing what was taking place, and not having ever met this doctor previously. He made me instantly at ease, answering my questions, calming my nervousness, assuring me I was in the right place and they were going to look after me. He did an extensive and thorough examination, before ultimately diagnosing me with a torn retina, and informed me that I would likely require surgery. Time was of the essence now, and he really kicked it into high gear. He immediately tried, (although unsuccessfully) to connect with Dr Scott’s office. He kept me apprised of the progress, and assured me that he would keep trying; but if too much time passed, he was going to arrange for me to be seen in Halifax. He was, however, successful on his second attempt with Dr Scott’s office. He explained my situation to the surgeon, and he had me on the road to their office immediately, where I was further assessed and treated. The retina had already begun to detach around the tear, she concluded, so laser surgery was necessary immediately. It was completed, and I was sent home to recover. Recovery has been uneventful and easy. I am so grateful to the team at Valley Optometry for being so professional, yet so compassionate. If not for your quick action and tenacity, my outcome could have easily been very different. Thank you, truly. You guys rock!!!
Super friendly, informative, acomindating staff. Highly recommend them.
Efficient & friendly. Easy visit to get my eyes checked. Well done and thank you.
My 92 year old mother recently had an appointment to have her eyes examined. She had not seen an optometrist for over 10 years at the time. We booked the appointment with Dr. Flynn so Mom would be dealing with a lady. At Mom's age, dealing with a lady is easier as female voices are higher and she could hear the voice easier. Mom is quite hard of hearing. We were met at the door of the clinic as we were in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and all precautions were in place. One of the assistants took Mom into a room where two tests were done with some ‘high-tech’ equipment. The assistant was absolutely wonderful with Mom. She took time to ensure Mom was comfortably seated and explained each test before the test began and explained each step as it was about to take place and as it took place to ensure Mom was comfortable. The examination continued with Dr. Flynn accompanying Mom into her examination room and did some more tests. Dr. Flynn told Mom what was about to happen, what the test was for and listened to Mom’s sometimes lengthy explanations of her history and many details about what had taken place up to now in her eyesight. The entire staff at this clinic were very respectful of my Mother and kept me in the loop as to the findings and what they meant. At the end of the examination it was determined that new lenses were recommended. Mom was given choices all along the way with an approximate costing of the options. Mom was relaxed and very pleased with the patience and respect she was shown. The new glasses were chosen very carefully and you would think that Mom was the only patient that the clinic was going to see that day. (The clinic was actually quite busy with patients coming and going and the interactions between staff and patient always seemed respectful and polite). Mother was exceptionally happy with the experience at the clinic from start to finish. Mom did have to have a slight adjustment made to her frames and, when we arrived, the staff actually came out to the car to see Mom and complete the adjustment so that she wouldn’t have to get out of the car and walk on snowy ground. Amazing! Full marks go to Dr. Flynn and her entire staff from both Mom and I through this entire experience.
