A little over a month ago I had LASIK performed by Dr. Reece Hall and I have had three follow-up appointments. Dr. Hall did a fantastic job of setting expectations and explaining the process, and I can now see better than I could have imagined. My visual acuity exceeds what I had with glasses and contacts, and the convenience afforded by the surgery has been life-changing for the better. I had high hopes for excellent results, and my expectations have been thoroughly met and exceeded.

I had my eyes lazered in early April, and I can easily say that it is one of the best things I've ever done. Dr Hall is such a professional, he explained the procedure in a way I was able to understand fully what was going to be done. His staff are lovely, each time I walk into the clinic, I am greeted with smiles and warm welcomes. I had some concerns undergoing surgery, but if I had to do it again I would. It was pain free, and to top it off, I had better that 20/20 vision the next day.

I went to the Bowen Eye Clinic in August 2015 to get my eyes corrected permanently with laser eye surgery (LASIK). I didn’t want to have to wear glasses or contact lenses any more. I found the staff to be friendly and professional. Dr Reece Hall was able to answer all my questions during my first free consultation and I was booked in to have the surgery about a month later. On the day of the surgery I was very nervous but the procedure was pain-free and I was in and out of the clinic in 45 minutes. During the surgery (15 minutes) the nurse counted down the time that each part of the procedure was taking which I found very helpful. The recovery was also pain-free and I was able to see clearly the same night. The follow up care has been wonderful. I would highly recommend this clinic for LASIK.

I have had glasses since I was 8. I got PKR eye surgery with Dr Reese at Bowen when I was 30. I wish I would of had it done way sooner. I was just always so nervous with anything to do with the eyes. However, I decided enough was enough and I wanted to stop paying a fortune for glasses because I had to pay extra to get my lenses cut down otherwise the width was too big for frames. I lead a pretty active lifestyle and glasses were just a no go, and my contacts would dry and I’d spent my whole day taking them in and out, trying to find comfort. Anyways, the staff was helpful and nice and they guided you through every step of the way. That really helped calm my nerves and put my trust in Dr Reese. After my great experience and results, my friend decided it was her turn and had the same great experience as me. Also it’s just so amazing not having to put glasses on in the morning or take contacts out at night. I love not buying contact cases and solutions. You have no idea how time consuming wearing glasses and contacts become until you get this surgery.

After my partner had Laser Eye Surgery at Bowen, yes he was struggling with old man eyes (we had 6 pairs of reading glasses scattered around the house) he had a truly seamless experience from start to finish. So naturally, I couldn't say YES quickly enough when he offered it to me as my 50th Birthday Present. After wearing glasses for 30 years, this has been a truly life changing experience for me. I felt extremely comfortable with Dr Hall from the outset as he guided me through the process and procedure. I've just had Staar Surgical Visian ICL Implantation surgery done by Dr Reece Hall yesterday (16/07/19) and believe me when I say that this doctor can do miracles. I had a very bad eyesight/low vision (so bad that LASIK, a.k.a Laser Eye Surgery was out of the question, too risky for my condition, the doctor was upfront about it and explained in layman's terms why this was not such a good idea). Today, I couldn't be happier. The quality of the consultations with Dr Hall prior to the surgery, as well as the actual surgery performed by him at the Bowen Hospital just next door to the eye clinic were perfect in every aspect. 24 hours later, I have now recovered a 20 20 vision on both eyes and am free from wearing glasses or contact lenses until old age-related vision changes start happening (let's just say that it's not for tomorrow). The surgery was painless and really not that scary. If you are still thinking about it, don't. This is the best money you will ever spend. Thank you again Doctor Reece Hall and to all the staff at the Bowen Eye Clinic and Bowen Hospital who made this possible and easy as a breeze.

I found even the prospect of ringing up to find out more about this surgery made me nervous. However right from the phone call I was put at ease. The whole procedure was amazingly quick, hassle free. Dr Hall was very approachable, answering any questions as if I was his first and only patient. From juggling computer and distance glasses to only having to remember my sunglasses that can be popped on my head when not required feels liberating. I got my first pair of glasses at the age of 12, moving into contact lens when I started high school. For me contact lenses were always a pain, having to put up with constant dryness, and the hassle of putting them in and out every day, not to mention the cost over the last 10 years. So when my optometrist, Peter Giles (Eyes on Broadway, Palmerston North) suggested I have a free consultation with Reece Hall (Bowen Eye Clinic) to see if I would qualify for Laser Eye Surgery, I defiantly jumped at the chance. Firstly I checked them out online, their website was easy to navigate around and all the information I needed was supplied. I was surprised they were located in Wellington which made it easier for me being in Palmerston North as I had always thought I would have to make the trip up to Auckland (Reece also does follow-up appointments from Eyes on Broadway, Palmerston North). I emailed with a few more questions I had and within half an hour, I had all my questions answered and my free consultation booked for the following week. When I went for my consultation, I was nervous as I wasn't sure if I would even be able to get the surgery. I had brought my Mum, Nan and partner along with me for support, and to ask any questions I may forget. The clinic itself had a very relaxed environment, and Reece himself was very calming and informative. He made me feel I could trust him 100% with my eyes, and when I left I more excited then ever to have my vision back. The day of the procedure I was super excited. After the initial sting of the numbing eye drops I felt no pain through any of it. The procedure itself took no longer then half an hour and even though it is a bizarre experience just knowing what they are doing to your eyes, it was 100% worth it when I woke up the next morning with perfect 20/20 vision. Following the procedure I did experience burst blood vessels which lasted maybe 1-2 weeks and dryness for 2-3 months which is normal. I still use eye drops from time to time to help with my dryness, but overall I have had no complications. I would highly recommend Bowen Eye Clinic to anyone interested. For me now waking up with perfect vision, I could never imagine having to put contacts in every morning like I had done for the last 10 years. It has been a life changing experience and I am so happy with the results. Thanks so much to Reece and his team for making this possible!

I hesitated for so long to make an initial consultation appointment, and then to make the actual booking for LASIK... but I wish I had done it earlier!! The results are simply lifechanging! I can SEEEEE! The team at Bowen Eye Clinic were great - very friendly and professional. Dr Hall gave me a clear run down of the procedure and I felt calm and prepared. It was a very straightforward process and I was informed beforehand and again at the time as to what was happening. The evening of the surgery I could tell my vision was better! I had no issues or problems, but felt if I did that I had the information to deal with them. My follow up appointments have been reassuring and straightforward. All the necessary information was provided without me needing to ask for anything LASIK at Bowen Eye Clinic has been 100% the best decision I've made - yes, it was an investment but now when my kids yell "Mummy, look at this" I don't have to say "come here, I can't see that far"!!!! My experience from the start to finish has been nothing but professional. Many people have asked me about the procedure and I've explained how simple and effective the whole process has been. I met with Dr Reece Hall over 12 months ago and discussed what would be required should I wish to improve my vision. I left that initial meeting knowing that all I needed to do was get the money together. My surgery was set down for 1pm. The surgery was explained fully to me and again while the operation was taking place. The whole surgery was painless with eye drops being administered to the eye providing the only pain relief that was required. By 7pm that night I was watching my first episode of Shortland Street minus my glasses. I still go to take off my glasses at the end of each day, and then I smile and remember I don't have glasses anymore.

It's not often I'd ever write anything like this, but one of the best life-choices I've ever made was getting my eyes lasered, and now I wonder what took me so long! I'm a 52 year old male who loves sports and outdoors, and after years of wearing specs and contacts for sport, I had them done in December and enjoyed a wonderful summer of outdoor fun. My eyes have a high degree of astigmatism and short-sightedness (approx -4), and I NEVER thought this could change. My optometrist recommended Bowen Clinic, and after my first meeting with Reece Hall he answered my list of questions - and I felt very reassured and comfortable with the process. I was impressed with the facilities in terms of latest equipment and techniques, the support staff and their flexibility, plus "no waiting" time. As I did the sums, with another 20 years of expensive specs required every 2-3 years, the procedure comes out ahead financially, and the other benefits just make it all add up. It's a quick process - a matter of minutes, and the follow up is thorough. I was one of the few that needed a second procedure due to my astigmatism, but for the gains I've received that is nothing. Incredibly, my astigmatism is completely gone, I've got blended vision across both eyes and reading and computer work is fine, while my love of sport and the outdoors just seems to have new level. Swimming is an experience renewed. Easy and stress-free experience from the start. I had laser blended surgery in one eye and lasik in the other and have just had my 3 month checkup. I deliberately waited for some time after I had my corrective laser eye-surgery done before writing a feedback retrospectively considering every step before and after the surgery. It's been about 4 months since the procedure and summarizing my total experience with Bowen clinic - it was very very positive. I'd like to separately thank Doctor Reece Hall for the way he treats patients, his professionalism and attitude. I've been wearing glasses/contact for more than 12 years, short-sighted with a small astigmatism on one of my eyes. > Before surgery: after initial assessment (that was free of charge) I had a clear understanding of my current eyes conditions like myopia level, astigmatism, cornea thickness - all aspects that might influence the surgery outcomes. I really liked the way doctor Hall presented me with the assessment summary so I could make a conscious decision whether proceed with surgery or not and what were the risks. > During surgery: Doctor Hall articulated every action during initial preparation (while administering numbing eye drops, etc) and during the surgery that allowed me to understand what was going on. Dr. Hall was very attentive regularly checking my state - I got a little nervous in the operating room at some point and was handed a stress-ball to calm me down - turned out to be very helpful! :) So ask for it! :) In general, no pain, no discomfort, no doubts about the procedure and the way it is progressing. I expected that having the laser machine floating over my eye would be more disturbing than it turned out to be. > Right after surgery: I almost immediately could see without glasses - still a little blurry but that was something I was prepared for! I was accompanied to the waiting room. But felt no discomfort and left shortly. I prepared a couple of audiobooks at home because I knew from the internet that once numbing eye drops stop working I should feel itchiness, irritation and light sensitivity. Long story short - I needed my audio books for just an hour. I still felt some discomfort on my eyeballs but nothing else that I was preparing myself for! Yes, the vision was still blurry, but I could fully operate in an hour after returning home. >Next day and subsequent checks: Next day the itchiness was almost unnoticeable, blurriness started to go away (took it a couple of days to completely disappear). Dr. Hall examined my eyes next morning making sure everything was going according to plan. Some blood marks caused by eyeball fixation become pretty visible causing no discomfort (gone in about 1.5 weeks). I got regular checks after that at the Bowen clinic and my vision is above 20! Outstanding!

I became interested in getting laser eye surgery after my brother had the procedure done very successfully a few years ago. I've had glasses since I was 5 years old and was keen to get rid of them, though I was a little concerned about the safety of the procedure, and the idea of making a flap in the surface of each eye was a bit alarming. Dr. Hall put me at ease about the process and was happy to discuss in detail how different parts of the LASIK procedure work and why they're done. The actual procedure is very quick and completely painless (you can't even tell the flap is there when it's cut with a laser). There are a few days needed to get mostly normal vision again - it's a bit like being in a foggy room initially, but after that and a few weeks for the correction to settle in, the results are truly life changing. LASIK seems like a relatively expensive elective surgery at first glance, but it's absolutely worth the cost. Having had the procedure and lived with the results for 3 months, I would pay considerably more than the current price for the same thing if I had to do it again. Highly recommended!

I had blended vision laser surgery in January, and it's changed my life! I now drive, read, use the computer and watch TV without the need for glasses for the first time in over 30 years. I was worried about the procedure, but Dr Hall explained everything all the way through. While it wasn't exactly 'fun', it didn't hurt, and my recovery was very fast. I spent the afternoon of the surgery in bed with an eye mask on, and by that evening, I was up an about. I drove myself to the followup appointment the next day. I continued to use eye drops for dry eyes for about 2 months after. If you're thinking about the surgery, but you're worried about the procedure, I say do it. The procedure is no big deal and it's over in about 5 minutes.

Being 23 years old, I personally didn't and don't know anyone who has had laser eye surgery and I therefore didn't have anyone to ask about it. So, I turned to Google to search for a clinic in Wellington. After doing some research and reading the reviews I booked a consultation with Bowen Eye Clinic. This was great to have a chat and get to know Dr Reece and all the really lovely staff that work at the Bowen Eye Clinic. 18th of September 2019 I had my laser eye surgery with Dr Reece Hall at the Bowen Eye Clinic. The procedure was very fast and I felt really safe knowing that Dr Reece and his staff have a lot of experience. The recovery time was insanely quick. I only had one day off work to recover, and then I was back in like normal the following day. It's now the 1st of November 2019 and since then, I've been to Bali and done a lot of swimming in pools, snorkeling in the ocean, and being in the sun a lot with no problems whatsoever. I travel a lot, and it's been an absolute dream to not have to constantly worry about having enough contact lenses, and keep up with the maintenance. I previously wore dailies and it was such a hassle and recurring expense, as well as very wasteful with single use plastics. When I went away for 6 months at a time, I would have to order so many contact lenses and always ensure I had enough for going away (especially for remote destinations where English is not widely spoken and where I did not have a postal address). I feel so much better that I don't even have to worry about these things and it doesn't feel real that I can wake up in the morning and see clearly. I had read online before that your eye sight is the best thing money can buy, and I am happy to say that's true for me. If you are unsure or hesitant to get this done, I would just say to have the initial consultation and it will be so easy to make up your mind from there. I think this has been the best decision for me to get this procedure done, and at such an early age too (as my eyes have not changed in prescription for a few years now). In a few weeks I'm moving to New York City and I'm so excited to not have to worry about my vision at all. Throughout this experience, I've had the most positive experience before and after the surgery. All the staff were very patient with me and reassuring. I can't recommend their services enough. For anyone considering laser eye surgery, I highly recommend. I wore glasses for two decades and never thought that I could literally receive 20/20 vision overnight. I chose Bowen Eye Clinic because they offer 18-months interest free payment if you have a Q Card (which I do but didn't end up using in this case), as well as 12 months of post-surgery eye check ups. The procedure itself is genuinely very fast (10-12 seconds per eye) and absolutely painless (like someone softly blowing on your eye), with Dr Hall and his helper stating what's happening every step of the way, to help ease any nerves and which I reeeeally appreciated. ~5 hours post-surgery I could already see my vision had improved from the brief moments I could open my eyes - they do sting somewhat after but nothing more than what cutting onions does :) My only suggestion would be to schedule your surgery as late in the day as is possible, as it's highly recommended you stay off ALL screens and books for 24 hours - so you may as well do it late in the day so you can just go to bed! Otherwise you'll be surprised how hard it is to think of how to pass time screen/book-free....

Firstly I would like to share that I was extremely nervous about having laser eye surgery, as many people are. I decided to have laser eye surgery due to requirements for a new career path. I had initial contact and consultations with overseas surgeries within the UK and Asia and after some research I found that The Bowen Eye Clinic was extremely competitive in terms of pricing. However what swayed my decision was the plan they put in place for my after care. I understood that I would not be able to get this aftercare within another country, due to be being based in New Zealand. From the moment that I contacted The Bowen Eye Clinic I knew that I had made the right decision to have the treatment done there. The day of treatment came around quickly and the team made me feel very comfortable and ensured I knew exactly what was going to happen through the process. Not long ago I was able to go to the clinic and have laser eye surgery, the surgery was performed by Dr Hall. For me the results were instant, without realizing it I picked up one of the clinics business cards, so you can imagine how small the writing was, I could see ! no glasses, no bandages, just out of surgery and I could read the small print, amazing ! I was and still am very happy with my decision to go and have treatment. What a difference this surgery has made to my self-esteem, my life, I can write this review without glasses, I can read, I can put on eye makeup, even when working in the garden I have no need for glasses. I don't have to be cleaning glasses all the time, I don't have to hunt them down when I forget where I have put them, I don't have to go for regular eye checks, the list goes on. If you are wondering if the surgery is for you but your not sure, just phone the surgery and make an appointment that way you will know for sure and you wont have to keep wondering. For me I realised I had a 50/50 chance but I wasn't going to know that till I stepped out and made contact. The patient care has been so professional and caring right from the very first phone call to the clinic, it is a huge thing putting your hope and trust into someone else's hands. If I was to have it all over again I would 100% go back to Dr Hall without a doubt. My only regret is not getting it done sooner! I had been considering Laser surgery/LASIK for a few years. After discussing this with my optometrist, he gave me a couple of recommendations for surgeons (Dr Reece Hall being one of them), my Fiancé (Chris) and I did some research and decided that Dr Hall was the best option based on his experience, modern equipment, and positive reviews. I made an appointment for the initial consult and was excited at the thought of not having to wear glasses or contacts anymore! I was also naturally nervous about the thought of the procedure too. I took Chris with me to my consult for some support, although this was just the consult I was quite nervous at the thought of the procedure! We were greeted by the friendly ladies on the front desk and then sat in the waiting area. Dr Hall welcomed both of us into his consult room and we had a discussion about my vision and he checked my prescription, took scans of my eyes etc and explained the scan to me regarding why I have trouble with my vision and what the corrections would be for this. He answered any questions we had and made me feel a lot more comfortable about the potential procedure. I was very concerned about the potential pain, Dr Hall assured me the numbing drops would mean there would be no pain. I’m normally one to “have a think” about options before agreeing to something as significant as this but Dr Hall’s level of care and knowledge made me feel so confident in his ability that I asked to book the procedure while I was still there. I was made fully aware of any risks (however minor they may be) and I felt fully informed throughout the whole experience. On the day of the procedure before Dr Hall started anything, he explained from start to finish what he was going to do. I really appreciated him taking the time to do this and ensuring I was comfortable with everything as this meant I was able to understand what was happening around me and relax. The whole facility is very clean, I especially noticed the excellent hygiene in the surgery room – we had to put little shoe covers on etc. Once again, Chris was made welcome to be with me and was able to hold my hand for the procedure. After the surgery I had red eyes and a bit of dryness when the numbing drops wore off (this was all previously explained to me and I had been provided with a post-surgery pack to take home which had plenty of eye drops etc to keep my eyes comfortable while they healed). As expected, my eyes were quite sensitive to light but the next day I was amazed with how well I could see, and it got better and better as my eyes settled.

LIFE CHANGING! I am 35 years old and have needed glasses since I was about 25. I live an active lifestyle and also work in the building industry. So I finally decided to under take laser eye surgery after years of procrastinating. I contacted Bowen Eye Clinic and felt at ease immediately with helpful knowledgeable staff. Booked an appointment and was promptly seen. Reece explained all options and answered my questions in an easy relaxed manner that was very informative and that instilled confidence. I opted for the blended vision surgery which again was undertaken promptly. The very professional manner of all staff alleviated any apprehension on the day. It was all over very quickly and I was on my way home. The next couple of days was a bit painful but this was controlled with pain relief and eye drops. My vision now is fantastic and not needing to wear glasses/contacts at all is outstanding. My brain is fully adjusted to having eyes with different vision that I do not even notice it and I am able to see things afar and then read the fine print on labels . Reece follows up an a regular basis afterwards I am lucky enough to be in a situation that the financial cost was not to much of a concern but really appreciate not having the monthly costs of contacts,solution and glasses. I feel this has been and will continue to be a sound investment that removes ongoing future vision expenses associated with corrective lenses and it was brilliant walking into the drivers license agent and having "needs corrective lenses" removed from my license. Bliss - waking up in the morning and seeing, clearly, straight away; not juggling different pairs of spectacles, or perching them on the end of my nose; wearing just sunglasses ie not over the top of other glasses (which I swore never to do, but did). If you've ever wondered, even for an instant, about whether or not to have laser surgery (I had LBV) do it. Reece Hall and his team helped every step of the way, from tests and discussion of options, to making bookings and providing information, it was a confident, stress-free experience. When I turned up early (twice - overly excited) I was out early. The process was described with detail and no fuss. Mr Hall explained blended vision as we looked out at the natural bush from his office window. His professional certificates are in the room too, but it's his knowledge and clear communication that instill confidence. That was in late October. Early December - back in for another assessment / measurement and into surgery (hyper-modern, minimalist room), no nonsense. Again, clear instruction and explanations, calmly and quietly delivered. I felt in very safe hands. Out in less than an hour. That was yesterday. Today, back at work, only no glasses and I keep gazing around in surprise, at the sharp lines, with no focal adjustments to make. Thank you Reece and your Team!

From the moment I entered the clinic there was a warm and welcoming feel to the place. The bowl of eyeball lollies for Halloween were a fun touch that helped you relax. Dr Hall was matter of fact and reassuring in his manner and had been recommended by my optometrist because of his experience in this field. The process was very straight forward with an initial consultation to determine suitability for Lasik, after which we set a date for a week later. Dr Hall had clearly explained the procedure so there were no surprises. I had my laser eye surgery with Dr Reece Hall in March 2019. The whole experience exceeded my expectations from start to finish. The clinic itself is easy to access (good parking etc) and has excellent facilities. Dr Hall took me through the process in a lot of detail and gave a great overview of what would happen. On the day of the procedure I was booked for my surgery at 6pm. The surgery ran on time and I was in an Uber home by 6:45pm. The results were outstanding - within 24 hours my sight was perfect and I had very little discomfort. The small amount of dryness I experienced was gone within a couple of weeks. Overall I thought it was outstanding service and great value for money. I wish I had done it five years earlier.

I have wanted to get my eyes corrected for many years. So I decided that this year I was going to get it done. After doing alot of research on the web, reading 100's of bloggs, visiting many NZ websites for Laser eye correction, putting it out there on FB, there was only one answer "Get it done". I was attracted to Bowen Eye Clinic by 3 simple things, 1. Their website was informative and welcoming 2. Dr Reece Hall who preforms the Laser Eye Correction also does your initial assessment and after surgery followups himself. 3.There were no finance incentives - this made me feel that they didn't need to lure prospective patients. From my initial assessment I knew I had made the right choice. Blended Vision and Bowen Eye Clinic was the way to go. Within 4 weeks I was in Wellington at Bowen Clinic, 45 minutes later I was walking out the door with a new outlook. Dr Reece Hall kept me informed every step of the way throughout the procedure. Made me feel comfortable and reassured. No pain was felt at all. Vision was hazy for about 5 hours after the procedure but it was dam near perfect after this. I used eye drops for a month after and now that my eyes have settled day by day they have got better. I have no hesitation on recommending Bowen Eye Clinic and Dr Reece Hall, you guys rock!!!

I had "Laser Blended Vision" surgery about two months ago, and I'm very happy with both the results, and the way Dr. Hall and his staff have looked after me. They're welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. It started with a first (free) assessment to explain the procedure itself, what I could expect, and what the recovery process would look like. He also assessed my eyes to ensure I was suitable for the procedure. He gave me lots of opportunities to ask questions and responded honestly and patiently. They gave me clear documentation to explain everything, including risks and possible side effects. Based on my conversation, the documentation, and what I had read online, I felt comfortable to go ahead with the procedure at Bowen Eye Clinic. On the day of the procedure again Dr Hall and the staff were friendly and patient, and they helped me feel at ease before, during, and after the procedure — which is, let's face it, a bit weird. The procedure itself was over really quickly (within minutes) and slightly uncomfortable at times, but not painful. They have a special room where the laser equipment is. It looks very professional and tidy, and Dr Hall talked me through the process and explained everything clearly. They gave me eye drops to numb the feeling, and then I lied down on a bed under the lasers for the procedure. They put a device on your eye to keep your eye steady, which really blurs your vision, so you don't actually see anything but some flickering lights. It takes maybe 30 seconds per eye, so it's over really quickly. I stayed for about 30 minutes afterwards in their waiting room before I got picked up and went home to recover. The first day my vision was blurry, which I was told to expect. Lots of eyedrops and resting up in a dark room helped, and the next day my vision was pretty good — amazing to wake up and see without glasses! Recovery has steadily progressed and every day my eyes felt better. I have had a number of routine checkups since, to make sure that my vision is as expected and that the recovery is progressing well. I'm very happy with the results, and it's great to be able to see without glasses or reading glasses. If one of my friends would decide to get laser eye surgery, I would definitely suggest them to visit Bowen Eye Clinic.

I had my Lasik eye surgery done back in May and I have no regrets. Im currently trying to join the police force and was short sighted. I chose Bowen eye clinic because they website looked very professional compared to their competitors and when I originally talked to them over the phone they were friendly. The staff there are always super nice, even though I missed one of their appointments due to mixing up the days they just scheduled me the next week and they didnt make it a problem. The whole process was made easy for me even though I hate things touching my eyes. During the surgery I felt nauseous and wasnt feeling to good but they gave me a glass of water and a stress ball which made a stressful time better. Dr Hall has done a wonderful job, I now have better than 60/60 vision and he even wrote me a form to send to the police medical team about my new vision. After the surgery they gave me everything I needed including eye drops and information I would defintely recommend going to Bowen Eye clinic and have already recommended them to my other friends that are thinking about getting eye surgery.

I made the decision to have laser surgery under level 4 lockdown, thinking it would be a while before anything could actually happen; couldn't have been more wrong. I had my first appointment the day we went to Level 2 and my surgery six days later. It is that quick and easy! And yes, the Level 2 protocols were very strictly adhered to. The initial scan took minutes, and the consultation not much longer. But I never felt rushed, I was always asked if I had any more questions, was I comfortable with what we had decided? My corneas were 40 microns too thin for LASIK, so I had to have PRK . This takes longer to heal, but, three months later, was well worth it. When it came time to have the surgery, I was in and out in less than half an hour. My family went for a walk to the nearby Countdown and had only just got back to the car when I walked out. The moments after the surgery were amazing, I could see! With PRK, your vision gets a bit worse before it gets better as the epithelial cells grow back, so the following Saturday was a bit of a write-off, but I could see well enough to drive by Monday. There was some discomfort for a few days, but that was easily managed with panadol. Lots of eye drops for a week, and artificial tears every hour to begin with, but I no longer need those. I had to wear eye covers at night to stop me rubbing my eyes in my sleep, but again this was no big deal - I could see! I went for blended vision, so I have no need for reading glasses. It took a few weeks for my brain to adjust to that concept, a bit of double vision that has now gone away. Lots of follow up appointments, it was a pleasure to actually see everyone's faces when we went back to Level 1 and the masks were gone. I still can't believe how well I can see, I can now wake up and see the clock. After 35 years of wearing glasses and contacts, I should have done this ages ago

Getting my eyes lasered was one of the most miraculous experiences of my life. I can't say enough good things about Dr Reece Hall, who explained the process so clearly and provided excellent care throughout. After 33 years of wearing lenses of some sort, I thought I was 'too blind' to have laser surgery, having considered it before but never actually going to see anyone to check. Bowen Eye have a free consultation where they scan your eyes and measure up whether your eyes are suitable for the procedure or not. Reece explained exactly what it would be like under the lasers and it was not as bad as I thought it would be (although the whole concept of putting your eyes under a laser is weird, it doesn't hurt and if you are like me, you can't see much anyway). I also recovered quickly. I took a couple of days off work to recover but could see straight after the op and my eyes felt fine by the next day. At first I kept reaching out to find glasses by the bed/contacts in the cabinet for a while as a physical habit. Waking up in the morning and being able to see is still a thrill, nearly a year later. Any experiences around water are better too (i.e. you can't lose a contact lens and not be able to get home/see etc.) Thank you to Reece and all the team. I have recommended Bowen Eye Clinic to several people, at least one of whom has had their eyes lasered too. Fully recommend.

I had laser eye surgery ‘blended vision’ with Dr Reece Hall of the Bowen Eye Clinic on 29 August 2018. Overview experience - excellent, I’d recommend it to friends - if the doctor assesss you and tells you you are a good candidate of course!! My optometrist recommended I visit Dr Hall for a free consultation re suitability. I made an appointment and was assessed as a suitable candidate. The procedure was explained well, the staff were professional and easy to deal with, the results were great. I now have great eyesight and no need to wear contacts. I chose to undercorrect one eye (the less dominant one) for distance, so it provides good up close reading. But when working together it seems to me that I have perfect vision for both reading and distance. I’m told this under correction means I am not likely to need reading glasses in the next few years and I fact may never need them (when most people do in their mid to late 40s), imcurrently 43. The procedure itself was quick and easy. It took about 40-50 mins, most of that was testing my eyes, setting up machine, and numbing my eyes with some kind of drops. The actual procedure was about 10 mins in a room lying on an operating bed, and consisted of 4 applications of a laser - 2 to each eye - only a few seconds each application. Not pleasant at all. But the sssistant counted down which was nice as I knew how much longer it would take. After the operation it seemed my eyes were fixed immediately- I could see - but through clouds of white fog - no problem the Dr had previously explained to expect this and it cleared quite quickly - ie all clear the next day. I went home and once the numbing eye drops wore off I was not happy - I felt like I’d peeled the biggest nastiest onion ever - my eyes were weeping and sensitive to light and unhappy. I wanted to keep them closed. So I had a Panadol and went to bed. The next day I woke up better. My eyes were sensitive to light for a number of days (i’d been advised to expect this and wear wrap around sunglasses). And I’d been advised to apply eye drops hourly! What a faff - I didn’t really feel I needed to - but the Dr said it was important to prevent scarring during the healing so I did. I was allowed to tail off the frequency of drops slowly. Now I have perfect vision and no contacts. So overall it was about 2 minutes of rather serious unpleasantness under the yuk laser, a bit of inconvenience with excessive eye dropping (for a month) and wearing shields over eyes (for a week) at night, and restrictions on other activities for a time after - ie eye makeup and jet skiing - ask the doc for all details..... But overall - very worthwhile good result for me! I’d recommend this dr and this clinic.

I couldn't of picked a better place to have my LASIK. I was quite nervous beforehand, but walking in The Bowen Eye Clinic you really do feel at ease and valued. Dr Reece Hall was absolutely lovely, explained the procedure well and was personable - Able to have a couple of laughs. Really enjoyed the whole experience (no need to be nervous!) In September 2019 I went to see Dr Reece Hall about getting laser treatment as I was tired of having to carry 2 sets of glasses around (one for up close work and one for driving). The initial consultation was quick and efficient and I was able to get both eyes done. The procedure, and what I could expect in the following hours/days, was clearly explained and turned out exactly as expected, and the discomfort was minimal. Dr Hall was always running to schedule when I went to see him for the regular checkups over the following 5-6 months which was great as it meant minimal time away from work. I can now read the smallest writing, thread a needle, go to the movies, and drive without needing glasses. From seeing how life can be without glasses, my wife and brother are now both looking at getting the same procedure. I found Bowen Eye Clinic a year ago now just by googling places to get Laser Eye Surgery and I would now not go anywhere else. It is a warm and inviting experience and the staff are very friendly and easy to talk to- from the ladies on reception to Dr Reece Hall the Ophthalmologist. I decided to get Laser Eye Surgery as I want a career in New Zealand Police and my eyesight was not good enough to get in. Bowen Eye Clinic could get me in straight away for my initial consultation and things progressed from there. On the day of my surgery I was obviously very nervous not really knowing what to expect but before it got underway I was fully informed of everything that was about to happen and even was told when things were happening during the procedure. I have just had my 3 month check up and my vision is perfect, the whole process has been very smooth. I had been contemplating and procrastinating about having LASIK surgery for years and finally 2 months ago had the successful surgery completed at Bowen Clinic by Dr Reece Hall. The results were immediate and I have estimated that I have gained approximately 365 hours a year in time not running around looking for my prescription glasses. I'm an active 52 year old and wearing glasses were a constant frustration and annoyance with sport and gardening.... constantly fogging up, slipping or getting dirty. Best investment I have made for myself and I can now read both short and far distances without any need for glasses! Dr Reece Hall was professional, efficient, calm and informative. He has a lovely style including a good sense of humour which is very calming. His support team are professional and I always felt in safe hands. The actual procedure is very quick… literally seconds on each eye. The following six hours for me were uncomfortable (heavy sore watery eyes and flu like symptoms) but this discomfort starts to wear off with rest and maintaining the eye drops regularly.

Excellent service and staff! Had LASIK (basic nearsightedness in both eyes/not blended vision) done here in May and cannot recommend Dr. Hall enough. I live in Palmerston North, and his travel schedule is so helpful for clients who don’t live in Wellington. I only had to travel for the surgery itself, all other rechecks (including the first which was 24 hrs post op) were in Palmy. He prepared me for what to expect before, during and after surgery. Recovery was much faster and easier than I’d expected with greater than 20/20 vision in both eyes less than 5 hours post op. After 3 weeks, the dryness in my eyes was fully resolved (I’d had much worse wearing contacts over the past 20 years). Absolutely the best decision I’ve ever made regarding my eyesight and I wish I’d done it sooner! I have recommended Dr. Hall to all of my friends thinking about LASIK.

I had my laser eye surgery before Christmas but have held off writing a review , in order to review the entire experience. My proceedure has been easy from the very first phone call and continues to this day. I made an enquiry on line, received a call and made an appointment. At the assessment appointment Dr Reece Hall determined I did not need 2 eyes lasering , which is what I thought , great news financially for me. He explained in detail the procedure and what I could expect going forward. This was supported by has assistant and so comfortable did I feel , I made an appointment immediately for his next available spot. The day came and it went exactly as explained. The eye was numbed , a 20 second laser ( counted down by his assistant - which was strangely reassuring ) and I was done. There was no discomfort , a little smell from the lasering and definitely no pain. I went home and once the anastetic wore off, I took myself to bed and I woke the next morning with the miracle of sight. What a fantastic feeling. My best experience with Bowen Eye clinic though has been the follow up care. I have has a few follow ups which are quick , but it means I can ask questions about how my eyes are adjusting and to be reassured that everything is on track. I am not sure what I expected but it has made me feel the clinic is conscientious and caring . A reason I chose Bowen eye clinic was because it was attached to Bowen hospital and that, that lent some crediabilty of expertise. I have not been disappointed at all. Another really cool thing was a bag I was given with everything I needed for after care with instructions. I think sometimes when you are going through something major like this , you can not remember details and small things, so with this bag I had everything I needed to know. I have recommended Dr Reece to all my friends which I think you cannot give higher praise. I would never have my friends go through something that was not 100% perfect. PS The reception staff are also the lovliest girls who advised me on my New Year makeup , so as not to irritate the eye.

I wish I had done this earlier! I was really nervous as I am not very brave about medical procedures. Reece was great and talked it all through with me and made me feel really comfortable that I would be able to have the surgery performed. It was a really fast procedure and Reece talked through what was going on and how long each laser would be in use. I got Lasik surgery in January 2019. Dr. Hall is very reassuring and made me feel comfortable and relaxed during the whole process. I live in Nelson, so I only had to fly up to Wellington for the surgery and the follow ups were in Nelson. The clinic in Wellington is easy to get to, via public transportation which makes it simple for out-of-towners like me. The surgery was very quick, and painless with both Dr. Hall and his nurse explaining everything calmly through all of the procedure. Even for the aftercare, Dr. Hall was very honest and explained what/how I would feel after (he was exact, even down to the amount of time I would have discomfort directly after the surgery, once the numbing drops wore off). Any questions I had, he was also easy to contact to ask. His staff are amazing as well, they make all the correspondence stuff a breeze. The follow-ups I had in Nelson (Richmond) were easy to book as well. Any one that would like Lasik, I couldn't recommend the Bowen Eye Clinic enough and have referred a few friends already there.

I wanted to know if I was a suitable candidate for Lasik eye surgery. I was sick of the on and off with glasses all day long. Several friends recommended the Bowen Eye Clinic. From the moment I arrived I knew I was in the right place, the front of office staff where friendly and very helpful. Dr Hall was easy to talk to and very professional, explained the whole process, the pros and cons and answered all by questions. Now that it's done I'm wrapped with the outcome. The best part was sitting down and reading the newspaper next morning. I can't believe the difference its made, wished I'd done it sooner. I had a first rate experience with Dr Reece Hall and the crew at Bowen Eye clinic. I have to admit, I was in a bit of a hurry and wanted to get my eyes done asap. I went to see both Reece and the other provider in Wellington. My first impression was that the guys in Wellington were perhaps more robust in their process - which i imagine a lot of people might feel safer with. However, Reece came across as being trustworthy, and he was happy to work things around me and fit me in, so I bit the bullet and went with him. From that moment on, my experience was just excellent. Reece was quick, efficient and very friendly. I felt very much in the hands of a professional, and ended up feeling like the other provider in Wellington was a little too 'over the top' in terms of their process. I liked Reece because he was trustworthy, but also really human. He talked me through the whole thing and answered all my questions. The surgery was very quick, and whilst i had the usual effects of being a bit blurry and sensitive for 2 or 3 hours afterwards, within about 4 hours my sight was better than perfect. Its now 3 months since the operation and I have far better than 20/20 sight - which is just extraordinary. Reece's follow-up appointments have been quick and satisfying, and his team have been super friendly. All in all, an excellent experience and i would certainly recommend anyone to go to Bowen for their laser treatment. No-nonsense, straightforward, friendly, effective treatment. I initially contacted Bowen Eye Clinic online, as I was interested in the cost of laser eye surgery. I received a call the following day inviting me to meet the surgeon for a non-committal meeting on what the procedure involved, if I was eligible and the costs, so made the appointment. Upon that first contact, I have been made to feel very welcome, at ease and welcome to the Bowen Eye Clinic and my meeting was very successful - I locked in a date for the surgery...I have never looked back! I was apprehensive on the day itself, as anyone would be knowing they are having voluntary surgery on their eyes and the disclosure forms can be daunting. However, Dr Reece Hall is very accommodating with all questions and quick to me you feel very confident in the outcome; I had no hesitation in my decision. The procedure itself is very quick. I had it late in the day then walked out and went for a beer! That evening, I did experience the discomfort that was expected and so went to sleep early. The following morning, I woke with no pain and remember looking out of my kitchen window to see a red house on the opposite ridge, crystal clear! I'm not sure if I hadn't noticed it before or just not very clearly, but I still look out to that red house today and marvel at how I can see everything at a distance which I couldn't before. I've had many follow up appointments and always feel comfortable to walk back into the surgery and meet Dr Hall. The staff are all very friendly and Dr Hall is very understanding to how my eyes have responded to the treatment and what I can do to enhance their recovery. I have recommended Bowen Eye Clinic to many friends and colleagues with no hesitation and happy to review to the public. I LOVE my new eyes, thank you!!!

Once I was told I may not have many years left in wearing contacts, I knew I could not delay the potential of having Laser Surgery. My first appointment with Dr Reece Hall was surprisingly easy and I was very excited to hear blended vision would work for me and that this could be done in quite a short time frame. I was very nervous on the day of surgery, however, Dr Hall and his team at Bowen Eye Clinic know how to calm your nerves and talk you through the whole procedure. When you are having the surgery you can concentrate on listening to their calm voice's counting down the seconds left and before you know it, the Laser Surgery is complete and you can see! It is very fast and painless. That afternoon I basically kept my eyes closed and slept. The feeling at that time was like sand in your eyes, but it really was not very bad at all. The next morning I woke, sat up in my bed and cried tears of joy looking out the window at my garden. I could not believe how clear everything was.
