This Ophthalmologist is included in the category of Optometrist.
I had a pleasant and informative 2 appointments with Dr. Ferron; he was courteous, professional, and unhurried. The support staff were another matter altogether: independently and together, my partner and I both experienced encounters unpleasant enough to search elsewhere for an optometrist. The individual giving the preliminary screening insisted on re-testing me despite my being there for a follow-up informational consultation with Dr. Ferron that had nothing to do with the current status of my eyes. She became increasing rude as she continued to insist that these tests are ALWAYS done prior to appointments. Going in together, my partner and I shopped for frames as the optician sat mere feet from us. She did not, over the course of the next 10 minutes acknowledge our presence. We finally went to the front and asked if we could get help. The record we asked be made of the final 3 choices did not make it to the computer. Only 1--the most expensive of the 3--made it into the file. We left discouraged, and subsequently found Dr. David Dowe at VisionWorks in Comox. See him.
Superior service. Always got a call back with a great attitude. All staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Dr Paroo provided a very professional and thorough exam and gave excellent advice and care to all my family members.
I have to say that I was extremely impressed with the doctor and the tests she performed. I have been wearing contact lenses and glasses for close to 25 years ( since I was 8) and I have never been through as many procedures and tests before. I wasn't happy with the selection of glasses and will go elsewhere to purchase a new pair. Note: I went to the new office at Mariner Square
On Oct 1/14 I arrived at the centre to find out my lens that were being couriered to the Campbell River office from the Courtenay office, had mistakenly been forgotten at the Courtenay Office. I don't remember her name, but one of the workers at the Campbell River went to meet the Courtenay office employee halfway between both cities and bring them to me. I was very moved by their going above and beyond their duties to ensure that I got my glasses. Thank you.
FYI Doctors have an excellent reputation in Campbell River of going well above and beyond in their practice. The friendly staff and positive atmosphere of the clinic speak volumes and you can hear it as soon as you walk in the door.
Just got back from an eye exam at the Mariner Square location in Campbell River. Such a beautiful welcoming office and all the ladies working there were absolutely wonderful! The optometrist I saw was extremely good at her job and very helpful and informative making sure I understood everything she was going over. Loved it!
Well my bestest friend did not seem to mind she likes attention Thanks
My eye exam went great. Dr. Danielle Campbell was very personal. I then had the pleasure of picking out some glasses with a lovely lady name Katrina. When my glasses arrived I spoke with Leslie, who sadly I didn’t get to meet but she was very kind on the phone. BUT, unfortunately on arrival to pick up my glasses I was not greeted very nicely, first I’d like to advise everyone I realize we are in a pandemic and I will forever wear my mask (I’m required to at work, and I wear it in any other public place I go into which I have significantly reduced going out in public at all) However I had my not yet two year old child with me in my arms, and before getting to the reason for my visit to the eye doctor office, I was rudely told to have child wear a mask. Again, not yet two years of age. And don’t get me wrong, we have masks for said child, but I have never gotten them on longer then 3 seconds. I mean what two year old understands they have to keep an item coving their mouth and nose? This was my first encounter this entire pandemic that I felt angry, and hurt. Upset enough to post a negative review on google. And if anyone has an tips to getting a not yet two year old to wear as mask. Send them my way. Thanks I also didn’t get the name of the lady who was rude, I was blind sided by her words, I know they all wear name tags and I wish I had been able to pull myself together to catch her name. But I am sure she knows who she is.
The entire experience today getting my eye exam and my husband's eye exams done was Flawless and awesome. The girl at the front desk Carly was amazing and very informative and helpful, and our doctor dr. Campbell was amazing! Definitely recommend going to this office !!!
The appointment was good, the eye Doctors and front desk was friendly. I had mentioned maybe trying contacts. They immediately started the process for contacts and had me trying them on and showing me how to put them in and spent a little time showing me the different thickness and styles. I thought it was great until I got to the front counter and my bill was over $250.00 I just about fell over. It went from a quick appointment as a yearly check up to a Contact fitting and order for contacts? all I did was asked about contacts, no one once said oh by the way it is a $150. For a contact fitting and other fees?? I was so angry I did not have an extra $200.00 to just blow. No one explained to me the cost before doing anything extra at my appointment. I live pay cheque to pay cheque anything more than what's in the budget throws everything off. All these places care more about is selling and up selling. I will probably not go back to this place.
I am reviewing my first and probably last experience at Fyi Willow Point. Things started out normally, a prescription, seemed fine. Choosing frames went very well. With the help of Rose we found a frame that suited and they happily ordered it in a different colour for me. The glasses arrived but the prescription was wrong. So I was tested again and and new lenses were ordered. A month has gone by and I still don't have my glasses even though they have been paid for. Granted we had Christmas in the middle of all this. Now we are to the point where I am leaving town for 3 months and still no glasses. I speak to reception and all I get is we will call you when they come in. I explain my problem and she doesn't even do me the courtesy of taking that seriously. Plus she doesn't bother to tell me that the office will be closed for 2 business days that week.Plus the voice message on the office phone doesn't share with it's customers about the closure. It is just by a stroke of luck that I was able to find someone at the closed office and work on a plan for them to ship the glasses to where I am going. I've got my fingers crossed that they will be shipped to me and that I will find some one to put them in the frames. No guarantees on that either. In my 40 years of wearing glasses I have never had a bad prescription before now. And guess what? My housemate is having the exact same problem with her glasses. She's still waiting for her new lenses. Like me she laid down her money 3 weeks ago. I cannot recommend this office at all. They need to do better.
I saw Dr. Flood hoping to get assessed and referred for possible laser surgery on my left eye (which had previously been damaged in an accident). Dr Flood dismissed the possibility of laser and strongly encouraged me to try a newly developed special contact lens. The contact lens cost was $600 plus $150 fitting fee. The first contact lens was very uncomfortable and kept getting air bubbles under it because of my astigmatism (from the injury). The staff person who fitted the lens said I'd "get used to it." Eventually (maybe a month later), I was able to get a replacement lens that, at first, fit a bit better, but within a couple of weeks, some particle got underneath the lens, while I was wearing it, and ended up scratching my cornea. I stopped wearing the contact while my eye condition worsened and, Dr Flood prescribed an eye drop to heal it (I was informed a possible side effect of the eye drop could be Herpes). At a follow up appointment, I was referred to Dr Johnson, a specialist in Nanaimo, because my eye wasn't healing. Dr Johnson advised I'd developed Herpes in my eye and I must have traveled to Nanaimo 5 or 6 times for this specialist to look at my eye, for a couple of minutes...then tell me to come back the next week to check again. My eye sight is still not completely repaired from this ordeal. Because of the problems created by this ill fitting lens, I was able to return it but was only refunded $600 for the lens. I felt I should have also been refunded the $150 fitting fee since neither lens properly fit and I ended up with herpes in that eye. I was told they never refund fitting fees. Although the front staff seem very nice, I feel I was talked into this new type of lens by Dr Flood and was very disappointed with the entire process, since I originally only wanted a referral for laser surgery.
All staff I encountered were incredibly personable! Thank-you from "One Canadian's Journey"
The contact I had with Dr. Lyle Myrfield is the worst I have ever experienced from any medical professional. All other staff I encountered at Coastal Eyecare were extremely professional and kind, but in the "encounter" I had with Dr. Myrfield in April of 2010 where I appear to have been slow in comprehending the diagnosis for needing glasses. This appeared to outrage Dr. Mryfield with his stating "You are just not getting this are you?!". It is my perception that this was stated with considerable distain, lack of respect and astounding arrogance. When I asked "Excuse me?" he responded with a statement making clear I was taking up too much time and that at some point he just had to give up in trying to explain things to people like me. Note that I am a biologist and while I may not have been at my brightest, I fear to think what sort of attitude others may have had directed at them if they had the misfortune of having even less comprehension of their eye care needs. I made clear to Dr. Mryfield that I felt his attitude and words were unprofessional and unkind and of course did not get my glasses at Coastal Eyecare as a result. It may be that, since this time, Dr. Myrfield is more consistently professional.
Squeezed me in because I lost my glasses and couldn't see worth a damn. Very impressed with how safely they provided me with the care I needed. Thanks guys!
Dr Flood is great and we've had good experience with our sons glasses and getting them fixed many many times.
Dr. Phil or Dr. Seitz (pronounced "Sights" I believe..haha, perfect name for an eye doctor!!) is not only charismatic, entertaining and knowledgable...but he is kind, caring and compassionate. My mother has been struggling with several health issues that have caused some secondary problems with her eyes, Since I'm her caregiver we've been looking for a solution, not just some treatment for the symptoms. Dr. Seitz had a handle on her concerns and through out the exam he shared with us his thought process and the things he was ruling out with each test, every step made perfect sense. He spent a lot time listening as well, which in a lot of ways is what we both needed more than anything. It's been several weeks now and my mother is doing fantastic!! It's the small things that make the biggest difference, and we appreciate each little consideration that was taken during our examination. You know an exam is good, when you walk out with a smile on your face. I have nothing but good things to say. Thank-you
I've been seeing Dr. Flood for over 20 years and her level of care has never dropped. Coastal Eyecare, and now FYIdoctors, has always provided me with excellent advice when it comes to my eyewear, be it glasses, contacts, or sunglasses. I've been to both locations in Campbell River and both welcomed me as a client with open arms. I highly recommend either location, and especially Dr. Flood.
I just called to have my contacts ordered and while I called the nice receptionist put me on hold and checked to see if I was covered through insurance and I am covered. I appreciate how they always have my contacts in stock and how friendly and helpful the receptionist was on the phone. I wish I knew her name. Thankyou for another great experience.
I was traveling from out of town when I started to experience discomfort in my eye. I had recently had a laser procedure to repair a detached retina. I called FYI to hopefully get an appointment on short notice. The clinic was very busy and fully booked. Cathy took my call and approached Dr Flood to confirm that she could squeeze me in. I was granted an appointment and saw Dr. Flood within an hour. I want to say how impressed and thankful I am for the compassion and thoroughness of the entire staff. Not only with the staff I encountered but also all the techs fitting glasses for customers. The office seemed "happy" Dr Flood took the time to explain what was going on with my eye , send follow up emails to my ophthalmologist and schedule a second follow up appointment with me to check on my progress before I had to head home. Once again THANK YOU FYI and Dr Flood!
I was recently in, looking to buy prescription swimming goggles. They were very patient with me as I slowly processed the options given to me and let me try on a couple pairs, as well as ordered a pair in in my prescription to try. I did not feel rushed, which was very important.
Can't complain about the service but my son had to change his progressive lenses to bifocals and the difference in price was $270 which they would not refund. I expected to pay a penalty but that seems excessive. If we had known of this policy they would not have had our business,
