Facility is run very well and effective. No one is standing around wasting time. They get you in an out as fast as possible. Dotors are great and straight to the point. No up selling for future visits or anything. Highly recommended.

The area they had control over (their offices) they had good covid control and protocols. There are hand sanitizers but no wipes to clean chairs after someone sits and rotates from being called in to office. Areas outside their controls (hallways) were full of people and was hard to distance from each other. Dr. Yau performed all check ups and went thru all relevant tests that was wrong with my eye. His staff was kind and efficient at handling check-ins, and booking appointments

Thanks Robert! From the first visit to Mitchell Eye Centre, I was very impressed with the facility, so impressed, I mentioned I was to Dr. Robert Mitchell in 2018 during my first cataract operation. Now in 2019, I have returned for my second cataract surgery and again, told him how impressed I was - this time with the professionalism and kindness of his entire staff - I couldn't make a bad comment at all! The only problem anyone might have is with the parking situation at the facility - there are many spots on the street but if you want to park close in the paid parking area, it is a $3 minimum for 1/2 to 4 hours, which seems unfortunate and steep, if you only want to stop for that half hour... Better wait on the street and grab an opening!

I did a "Refractive Lens Exchange" eye surgery & their staff, surgical coordinators, & Doctor made the whole process so easy & efficient. All of their attitude was top class & they were all very caring & patient throughout the process. Now that I have finished the surgery & about 80% healed, I can say the results turned out in the best way it could ever be. I would definitely recommend vising "Mitchell Eye Centre" for anybody who needs his/her eye checked with [anything] that they have concerns with. Thank you very much!

Great facility. Brought my father in for eye surgery. The staff were professional and took great care of him. He was thrilled with how improved his vision was when we left. There is ample seating in the waiting areas and its easy to get around the building. There is a cafe on the first floor where you can get a snack or drink... although the food there isn't that great. My only complaint is the parking. They charge you to park here for either 3 hours or 6 hours. I paid for 3 hours thinking it would be plenty because they told us to expect to be there for 2.5 hours. We would up being there for 4 hours so I had to pay for more parking. When we got there the parking lot was only about 25% full and when we left my car was the only one there... so why are we being charged to park here?

I've generally had good experiences at the Mitchell Eye Centre. I see both Drs Robert and Patrick Mitchell for different reasons. I've been going since 2012. In my first visits, I often came out feeling frustrated for having been put through like cattle. Things have definitely improved since. In my last many visits, I have found that the staff was kind and patient, that the wait times have become much more reasonable, that the doctors have had very good bedside manners. One suggestion that I would offer patients is to come prepared to ask questions, and don't be afraid to do so. For the procedures I've had, I often used to leave their office wondering this or that. Initially, I was uncomfortable asking, but am now much more forward and have found that the staff has been respectful as well as receptive and willing to answer. To the staff, please continue to be patient and empathetic to the fact that the eyes are often mysterious organs to us that we, the patients, treasure and wish to better understand in order to make informed decisions. As much as we'd like to trust fully, in many ways that would be foolhardy and naive. Questions are an important part of self-care. Thank you!!

Honestly the BEST place for vision correction surgery. As someone who used to wear eye glasses, I decided to take the plunge in 2013 and go for vision correction surgery. The entire process was safe and painless. Now, I can see 20/15 in both eyes! Unbelievable! Not only that, I was suffering from severe dry eyes due to a mishap a few years ago and was able to seek effective treatment from here. Now, my eyes have been completely restored and I hardly feel any dryness. I can't recommend this place enough for anyone who is looking to get rid of eyeglasses, contacts, or dry eye issues. Thank you Dr. Robert Mitchell and his staff!

I cannot speak highly enough about my experience at Mitchell Eye Centre. I had cataracts removed and replaced with multi-focal lenses, both eyes done the same day. The pre-procedure care, explanations and expectation setting were excellent. The procedure(s) went exactly as expected and recovery was faster than anticipated. I’ve just completed my 3rd annual checkup and my eyesight is 20/20, in fact I can often read the fine print on packaging easier than friends half my age. I was in danger of forced retirement prior to Dr. Rob Mitchell’s care and skills. Happily that fear is gone. Many thanks!

Over all my experience at the Mitchell Eye Centre was very good. I was greeted by a very professional and pleasant reception staff. My appointment started on time after a very brief wait in their sitting room which was set up with social distancing and Covid 19 awareness and protocols. The examination rooms are well designed and the medical staff that over saw my treatment were very proficient, prompt, and considerate. I am actually looking forward to my next eye examination. Today's appointment at the Mitchell Eye Center was a very positive experience.

Went to Mitchell Eye Centre for the first time. This clinic is very well organized and on time. The support staff is very welcoming and caring. Dr. Mitchell is a very confident doctor and is clearly very busy. It helps to prepare your questions prior to see him. He answered some of my questions, however, he did not offer any explanation on the procedure that had to take place immediately. So I became very anxious. I researched it later at home. It is difficult to ask appropriate questions when you become very anxious. I would have like to have a bit more reassurance and description about the discomfort felt during the laser treatment and what to expect after. The procedure is more than a bit uncomfortable, it's more like a small headache behind the eye and sinus. Personally, knowledge and awareness reduce my anxiety. Overall very pleased with the results and I know now that I will feel much better on my follow up appointment since I now know what to expect.

Outstanding everything. I am young for cataracts but got them anyway. From the time I found out to having both eyes operated on took approximately one month. I wish I knew all of the names of everyone who helped me, from front desk on the 3rd floor of MEC to the ALL the beautiful, kind souls at the Holy Cross, but the stand outs (besides the incredible Dr. Ryan Yau) are definitely the booking coordinator Ashley, who was incredibly patient with my emails and questions, Rachel (spelling?) and Elisa who are so dedicated, brilliant and hardworking. The only negative is the inconsistency of attitudes held by support staff. (Some are very nice, some are not. I know it can't be the job because they are very fortunate to work in such a distinguished environment.) When my eyes were failing and I didn't know what was wrong, I specifically asked my GP for Mitchell Eye Centre because of Dr. Robert Mitchell's esteemed reputation. When I read other reviews for Dr. Yau, I was so relieved and when he gave me my sight back I knew I was one of the lucky ones to have him performing the surgery. Thank you for going to school all those years, for whatever sacrifices you made to get your degree, for tireless hours spent honing your skills. I am so grateful I can't fully express it. What you do every day is perform miracles and I hope NOBODY takes that for granted. Thank you from my heart and soul a trillion times. So grateful.

I was surprised to be asked for proof of vaccination when I arrived as it was not mentioned either on the phone call to confirm or the text confirmation, only to wear a mask. As I was not able to provide it I was asked to wait outside and they would call me. I was concerned that this would affect the level of care, but it absolutely did not. Everyone was very helpful, they called me each time I was to see a tech (who met me at the door) and the doctor and the care was impeccable. I have been here many times in the last two years, and even though I was caught off guard about the vaccine passport it was still a pleasant experience. My only suggestion would be to add this requirement to their confirmation calls and texts. Also as an unvaccinated person you should appreciate not having to sit in a waiting room with a lot of people who could be infected with the virus and not know it because they are vaccinated and don't have symptoms, so it protects you as well.

I want to give kudos to the entire team who took care of my mom's cataract surgery yesterday efficiently and professionally. It's disheartening to see negative reviews posted on here. In my opinion, the negativity is without a doubt created out of unrealistic expectations. People should not feel entitled to whatever they like to expect regardless of the availability of resources and other restraints. The facility is doing a wonderful job.

Covid protocols strict. Flexible with family assisting a client if required. Staff friendly and accommodated clients low hearing. Dr A open to questions and kind to the client. Not rushed, condescending or impatient. The bldg itself is difficult for the elderly with covid. Parking is a far walk, no chairs or benches to sit in lobby or outside when waiting. No sanitizer by the parking machines which are touched by everyone. Parking is $3 .

Doctor was very professional. The team were doing great. Some confusion on the booking system which does not clarify which floor is the appointment location. Since they have offices in the first and the third floor, it would be beneficial to have the office number in the appointment card. The contact email address in the papers was doctor's email which based on their explanation, the receptionists are those who file additional information.

A great experience again this morning. It only took an hour for a visit that has taken two hours. Maybe because the waiting rooms were half empty, and dilating my pupils took half as long. Eye pressure was perfect and 20/20 vision still. Eye doctor was pleased. Me too! I didn't have to do a Vision Field test! Staff was very polite and friendly.

Staff is very courteous and would have been a pleasant experience if they were not so overbooked. Very difficult to social distance and not enough seats for everyone waiting. Sanitizing of chairs would have been appreciated as we were rotated constantly and had to take someone else’s spot so never in the same seat and people having to stand in a 3 foot walkway. Dr. Rob Mitchell has been our family choice of ophthalmologist for more than 20 years. His quiet competence has manifested itself in the performance of two radial keratotomy to begin the elimination of significant astigmatism. Laser surgery was also needed to give me optimal vision. As I aged he repaired my cataracts with new lenses. I highly recommend him and his son Dr. Patrick Mitchell who repaired a tear in my cornea with equal competence.

Dr. Patrick Mitchell is an excellent, caring eye surgeon who takes the time to explain and answer all concerns regarding expected outcome of cataract surgery for each individual and the best type of corrective lens to use for best outcome. As someone dependent on good vision in one eye for all my personal daily needs including driving, this was paramount. Today is day 2 of post-operative surgery and my vision has come back to about 75% and each day getting better. I expect I shall recover to 100% in the next 2 days and believe I will not even need reading glasses!. The staff are all caring and readily available to answer all questions and concerns in person or on the phone. When it comes to important concerns like vision, they truly do excel in all areas!

I took my elderly (forgetful, hard of hearing, visually impaired, cognitively declining 91 year old) father to have his regular every 6 week treatment today. I received a text message to remind me about the appointment and to wear a mask but no mention about the proof of Covid vaccine. Dad told them he was double vaccinated but he didn't know/remember that his proof of vaccine existed and that it was in his wallet. The front counter staff did not call me, did not ask him further questions or check his vaccine status online. Instead they sent him to stand and wait outside their office doors where there was NO seating. He stood for likely over 30-40 minutes and I had no idea until he came out and nearly collapsed in the car due to exhaustion and frustration that they banished him from the seating area. The manager did apologize to me... said they normally do check vaccine status online, but this was not the first time I had a complaint about their lack of process and communication. She told me they let family accompany patients for cognitive reasons but I had been previously DENIED entry with him UNLESS I needed to "translate", despite his lack of memory and insight and into the whole process. This IS my last complaint because we are going elsewhere. Just read another review about their racist and ageists attitudes at front desk. I wonder if this had any bearing on their complete lack of … not to have the faintest idea that what they did was at best uncaring and insensitive… an immediate reaction to banish an old (Chinese) man out to the hallway to stand and wait without checking or thinking “how best to help him” (looking up his record online like they are supposed to) when he told them he INDEED was double vaccinated… just didn’t have/bring/show his proof. They either didn’t believe him or didn’t care. Reminds me of news reports of hospital staff assuming Indigenous people complaining of pain are simply in withdrawal and they don’t ask further questions to “help” them. I am so glad my dad didn’t collapse in the hallway. He didn’t want to speak up fearing like he would look like a complainer. And this is exactly how marginalized people are taken advantage of and/or abused. This office is also seems defensive about previous complaints about elderly people getting treated badly. Obviously no professionalism or empathy.

My father underwent a cataract surgery through Mitchell Eye Centre and was provided a 24/7 emergency phone line to contact if any issues arose after. He started experiencing some concerning issues and so we called this line (multiple times), leaving voicemails, but no one got back to us. We even contacted reception at Mitchell Eye and left a message, but even then, we were not contacted by anyone. This could have resulted in a VERY unsafe outcome for my father.. this is highly unprofessional, and concerning. They should monitor this service better. I also echo the other reviews left by some patients/family members as I felt that the front staff is quite rude at times, especially in dealing with seniors who may have a harder time understanding the process.

But so far it is amazing how well I can see especially close up. I don’t think I have ever seen like this before. Everything up close is so vibrant in there colors. I will keep you posted on my recovery. Just a note when I was getting my eyes done everyone was so friendly and made me feel very relaxed and comfortable, starting with the young girl that put my drops in at the beginning. She was a real gem and made me feel like there was no worries and started the whole procedure out on a wonderful note. Thank you. Thank you, Lorine

The staff at the office is great, polite and professional. Dr. Ryan Yau is excellent, sharp, friendly, competent, prompt as I have never had to wait much to see him. He is also compassionate and very friendly. He listens to you when you have questions and has the answers for you. I would recommend him to anyone looking for an ophthalmologist. I am blessed to be looked after by this office. Could not be any happier. Thank you everyone for making me feel like I am cared for.

I can't believe the number of positive reviews. I had a very bad experience. I was left with damage to my eye and partial vision loss after cataract surgery. I then had to go back about a dozen times for follow up. I found Dr Patrick Mitchell to be quite arrogant and uncaring. I had to wait about 2 hours to see him every time and then had about 3-5 minutes of his time. I got no special treatment. He has far too many patients to effectively handle. No doubt the driving force behind this clinic is the almighty dollar. I found the environment to be somewhat frenzied and arranging appointment times always seemed to be a challenge. I've since gone to another clinic where the service is much quicker and friendlier. Would not recommend the Mitchell Eye Centre to anyone.

The Receptionist is very rude, unprofessional and very unpleasant to talk to. I called last Friday, Jan. 8th, 6 days prior to my appointment to have it rebooked. The lady confirmed my new appt. date and time will be on Mar. 11th at 3pm. Then 2 days prior to my orig. appt. date (Jan.12th, Tues.), I received a reminder call. I told the lady that it was rebooked already on Mar. 11th at 3pm. She said, there was no other appt. under my name except for the original one. I checked my phone to check the time and date when I called them in to rebook it. When I confirmed to her that it was last Friday at 11:02 am, she said in a very sarcastic way that they don't have any way to track it. Given that my appointment has been messed-up already, I just asked her to rebook it. After she gave me my new appointment, I asked nicely what her name is for my reference. I just don't want the previous incident to happen again!!! She firmly responded with a "NO" and hung up on me. I was very disappointed with how they are handling phone calls. The first lady who rebooked me last Friday was very inefficient. Then this lady whom I spoke with, upon telling her what has transpired lacks empathy. She is very unprofessional, very rude and does not have telephone manners!!!

Great experience getting my cataracts done. Dr. Mitchell is all business. The post op team was very good as well. I liked having the surgery at the Mitchell eye center. The holy cross was just ok. I would recommend having both eyes done at the Mitchell eye center ,It was more plush. It seemed to me there was more of a personal touch at the eye center. Anyway both eyes are now done it’s time to heal. Thank you to all that looked after me .

My visit was pleasant and efficient, especially considering the Covid issue we all must live with now a days. My YAG Laser procedure was a surprise. I had no warning about what was to take place. The procedure was very non-abusive for my left eye. I left your office with no after effect. However, I thought I was scheduled for a procedure to correct my double vision which is strongest in the left eye. I still have double vision but much better vision. Is it possible to get an appointment with another Doctor who specializes in double vision repair? Hoping to hear from M.E.C. with my next appointment. Regards......Jeffrey Bernard

All the staff were friendly and professional. The initial checks and eye scans were done in an efficient manner. I had to wait a while to see the doctor but it wasn't too bad. The doctor was efficient but thorough and explained the results so that I could understand. Despite the wait to see the doctor, the entire visit took less than an hour. I was impressed!

The staff here are awesome. From the time I walked through the door to when I left, everyone was very caring, nice, and professional. I have cataracts, and was very anxious to find out if the Dr would be able to give me my sight back. I'm extremely happy to say that I am now on my way to being cataract free, and I can't thank these great people enough. My appointment was right on schedule and I would highly recommend the Mitchell Eye Centre to anyone.They have given me hope for a new lease on life ????????????????

I came in with my father as a translator. This clinic seems to me a bit overrated. It's not bad, but not spectacular. Front desk receptionist(s) are average, doesn't really give the welcoming vibe--- just the regular check-in kind of thing. The ladies who do the initial examine are great though, very friendly and ensures to document concerns. Dr. Yau is fine... but he seems a bit rushed and hesitant to answer questions. Lacks a bit of the "ensuring/ empathetic" quality in my opinion. My only other complaint is that, although it's expected, the wait time is rather long. Our visit was almost 2 hours. All in all, just minor critiques that can make an average visit, a good one.

Dr. Ryan Yau saw my husband today, if I could give zero stars I would. When someone is referred to your clinic its HIGHLY inappropriate to question why they are there. Obviously our regular eye dr felt the need for my husband to be seen due to a concern that they had. On top of that to say that you don't understand when a patient is CLEARLY explaining the symptoms, loss of vision, weakened eye muscles, and pain etc. Hmmm nothing wrong with him Okay, sure maybe his Eye is fine, but there is something wrong and to dismiss him and talk down to him is extremely unprofessional. Wouldn't ever come back here if we needed to. Just because your a specialist doesn't mean you're above others. Your job is to help your patients and you were the exact opposite.

He is friendly explains his procedure and answers questions in understandable terminology. The facilities are modern and amazingly clean given the number of patients.

The clinic gives good service, however, the front end needs to be a bit more courteous. Due to COVID-19 concerns they insist that you check in at exactly your appointment time, no earlier. No problem. As there is always a lineup to check in you must time it right, or else you will be early and then you will be asked to go to the end of the line. When I was there today, as I waited in line I saw many, many people return to the lineup from the check in counter, frustrated, muttering things, etc. When I got to the counter at my precise appointment time I found out why. I was told that as I was 10 minutes early I must leave and start over. Confused, I said that I was at my exact time, to which I was told that the clinic's clock runs ten minutes slow. I asked why they did not reset the clock to avoid all of this confusion, but I was told they were not able to do this. Imagine that, a clinic specializing in precise eye surgery, and no one there can set a clock! Could they not just remember that everyone is 10 minutes early by their clock, which is bang on time by any other clock, and let people check in on time, rather than creating all of the confusion and bad feelings by making everyone work to the time of a faulty clock? Incredible! Great service, albeit always 10 minutes late! ????

I want to start by saying that the technologists and Dr. Adatia are absolutely lovely. One member of the reception staff is very unkind. I work in a high volume, patient care setting - I am more understanding than most that the reception staff absolutely deals with a lot of emotions, sometimes explosive, from patients. However, this receptionist literally takes any opportunity she can find to be unkind to patients, it’s totally unacceptable and would not be tolerated where I work. She was quite rude to an elderly lady about how she needed to “get back outside” because her appointment was at 09:00 am, and “we follow the clinic clock which says 08:50” - just to add some insight, satellite time was 09:00. The next time I was at an appointment, an elderly gentleman checked in, and after he had left the desk, she pretty loudly told her coworker that “he stank.” Last week I called to explain that I’ve been having heart arrhythmias, I was told not to drive. I explained my situation, and I asked if it was at all possible to set up a telephone appointment with the tech or Dr. Adatia to get the results of my angio. She cut me off and said “Mam, a receptionist would never give you results over the phone.” I very clearly asked if it was possible for the tech or Dr. Adatia to conduct a phone appointment with me - in no way, shape or form, did I ask for the receptionist to give me confidential results over the phone. It felt like she didn’t listen to me and just took it as an opportunity to be rude. I have never been anything but overly kind and professional while speaking with the reception staff, but this one employee is unable to reciprocate that. I asked to be forwarded to the manager so I could provide some feedback, this was last Friday and it is currently Thursday, I have yet to get a phone call. I’m in the process of finding another specialist because I can’t be present while this woman belittles seniors anymore. As someone who provides direct patient care in a high stress environment, there is absolutely zero excuse for a clinic receptionist to be so unkind to patients.

This is one of the worst medical experiences I have had. They told my husband to bring a driver, so I came with him. He has been waiting for almost 2 hours and there are still 2 patients ahead of him. His driver is not allowed to wait with him. There is no seating in the lobby and it is 37 degrees outside with no shade. It's worse in the car of course. Why in heavens name would they not provide seating inside for the drivers on a day like this?? What's going to happen when it's 40 below?

Have never had the worst service ever for my dad elsewhere, but at The Mitchell Eye Centre. My dad had his right eye cataract removal leaving my dad with vision loss. As Dr. Partick Mitchell ; a physician and surgeon refers it to as " His surgery went well, however his nerve is damaged, so he will have to live with his condition". It breaks my heart, when calling The Mitchell Eye Centre to speak with a doctor about my dad's vision loss after surgery that receptionist seemed arrogant and ignorant and wouldn't put me through the line to speak with his doctor nor could the receptionist tell me what to do but wait for his follow up. She seemed to have no interest or concern about what I had to say. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO DR. PATRICK MITCHELL; as he is definitely uncaring and not worth seeing.
