I have been going to Dr. Herman Shen & Associates pretty much since they first opened. They consistently provide efficient customer service and are always carrying out the newest contact lenses before other stores. I also really like their selection of glasses. The doctors are always very thorough with the examinations. Whether you want to have an eye exam or looking for glasses, I would highly recommend Dr Herman Shen & Associates.

I have been a patient of Dr. Herman Shen & Associates for a very long time, pretty much since they first opened. The Burnaby office is located by the T&T entrance in Metrotown Mall. This office is very busy, making appointment is highly recommended, but they do still take walk-in. The office has great support staff for people who preferred speaking Cantonese or Mandarin and of course English as well. The support staff are very nice and welcoming and welling to assist you. As a patient for the years that I have been there, I have seen Dr. Shen, Dr. Cheung and Dr. Chong. They are all great optometrists, very professional, efficient and experienced in their field. The office has a great variety of high-quality frames/lenses and contact lenses. Also a lot of brand name and style for your selections. I have been purchasing my reading glasses, contact lens, and also numerous sets of Oakley and Maui Jim sunglasses from here for many years. I always have a great experience with my services and the sale staff is very helpful assisting you with the product you’re purchasing. I have been referring my extended family and friends to Dr. Herman Shen & Associates for many years and will happily continue to do so.

Terrible reception. Wouldn't accomodate a refund over the phone and said if I don't show up in 2 hour's they won't give a refund. I showed up right away and they said to come back in 20 minutes because they were too busy for me. Then once finally helped they were rude and didn't know how to process a refund.

It is recommended that after optometry, go to a professional eyewear shop to match glasses to save money and be angry. Dr. Lu is very professional and kind to the patient. It's a very busy clinic, please do call and book your appointment before you come. You don't have to purchase your glasses and lens there if you think it's expensive.

I was working out at the gym nearby and badly hurt my eyes and went blind on my left eye. The gym owner said that seeing an optometrist will be a good idea right away. Instead of going to ER, I came to this clinic to find out if I can see the optometrist for the injury that can lead to permanent blindess. Without any hesitation, the admin said that I cannot do that as the doctor is fully booked and does not even have a few minutes between patients to check what may be going on with my eye. If this place's policy kicks out a patient who is in a need of imminent treatment for eye injury due to filled schedule of the doctor, people should give 2nd thought about this place before visiting. You can be me.

I have been there a couple of times, I buy my contacts from them. The man who does the lens fitting is great! he walked me through the experience ( I was horrible at it) and was very patient while I struggled to get them in. He gave me lots of samples to find the right fit and is always helpful.

Dr. Shen has been my family Optomitrist for nearly 20 years. I’m not sure why there are so many bad reviews, I’ve yet to experience anything but kind and professional service, and that includes visits for my kids. Wait times can sometimes be a bit long, but that is because Dr. Shen is thorough and takes time to listen to our concerns. To me, that kind of service is worth the wait.

I don’t understand why there’re so many negative reviews. Today it’s my first time to have my eye examination done here with Dr. Alfred Lo. The receptionists were very polite and friendly. I arrived on time and waited around 10min for my turn. Dr. Lo is very professional and knowledgeable. He explained everything clearly, and he can also speak Cantonese so that I can understand the medical terms better. Overall, it’s a very pleasant experience, and I will definitely go back again in the future.

I saw Dr Chong few weeks ago and he is really patience to answer my questions. Got a pair of glasses here. Even it is a bit pricey but definitely worth to pay more for a quality pair and excellent service.

Long time patient here. Dr. Ellen Sun is very professional and explains my condition in great details. The staff speak English, Cantonese, and Mandarin and are very helpful in making suggestions about my glasses choice. They are very knowledgeable about their products and services provided. The staff also give reminder phone calls which are helpful as I tend to forget my appointments!

The Ortho-K contact is really effective in controlling my myopia and cheaper comparing to other places. The reception is really nice, but Dr.Shen was unfriendly for the first few visits; his attitude is better after a while.

If I could give 0 star I would - really. The male optometrists are very rude! I agree with the other post that they are mean to kids. We normally go here and in the past they were not that bad. Yes they try to do your eye check very quickly and sometimes you don't have time to ask questions to the doctor because they are very busy. The recent visit was extremely horrible. The male doctor checked my husband then my seven y/o daughter. I wasn't sure if he is very tired of his job or they just do not have patience at all. When he asked my daughter for the pictures to see if she can see them, he didn't have patience to wait for her answer as he immediately started yelling back at her within seconds. He did this twice so my husband spoke to him to ask not to yell to our daughter but he repeated it again so my husband quickly took my daughter (by this time she was so scared and crying already) to walk away. No children deserves to be treated that way! My daughter is now traumatized and does not want to see any doctors because of that event. If you care about your children's feelings please do not go this this clinic for eye check up.

Extreme long waiting. Last time we have to wait for over one hour. They always over book. It is a mall location. I will go to a different Doctor next time. Do not buy eye glasses from them either. This place is very expensive. You probably pay double than the market price. The choice is very limited.

Dr. Shen is our long-time family optometrist. Our three kids just had their first appointments since COVID, and I was very impressed, as always, with the professionalism and efficiency of Dr. Shen and his whole staff and their implementation of pandemic protocols. Yes - I agree there sometimes is a wait - but he and his associates are popular for a reason! They are extremely knowledgeable and efficient without making you feel rushed, plus my kids actually like going to get their eyes checked by Dr. Shen. The staff operate the business like a well-oiled machine--you can tell that each employee cares deeply about their job and serving the patients, and they obviously have many patients returning again and again for their eye care. Not only are there many loyal long-time patients, but I don't see much turnover in staff either. Many employees are long-term, which is a great sign. I get my glasses and sunglasses from Dr. Shen, and the staff amazingly remember what style I prefer and make excellent recommendations in helping me pick out new glasses.

Injured my eye can barely open it. my family doctor referred me to this place. Called and told me they are booked 3 weeks from now. Then called me back saying one of their doctors have 10 mins today to take a quick look but no but have to charge me full amount.

Dr Henry Chong has been the optometrist for both my kids. Answers questions patiently. He prescribed reading glasses for both and so far they have not needed distance glasses. Highly Recommended.
